Norma Singer
HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — Norma “Jean” Singer, 71, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of severe arthritis.
She retired after 17 years as a bookkeeper for the Production Credit Association.
She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ, the Huntingburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 Ladies Auxiliary and charter member of the Yahtzee Card Club.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Robert L. “Bob”; a daughter, Cindy Fuhs of Huntingburg; two sisters, Helen Spinner of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and Louise Schoppenhorst of Huntingburg; two brothers, Roger Ingle of Horseshoe Bend and Jack Ingle of Ossian; two grandchildren, Ross Fuhs and Ryan Estabrook; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Teen Outback or the Salem United Church of Christ.

Carolyn Greenwell
LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Carolyn A. Greenwell, 57, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Burlington Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, N.J. She had diabetes and emphysema.
She had worked for Merrill Lynch in Indianapolis, Chicago and Philadelphia for 36 years. She last held the position of district administrative manager and vice president of Merrill Lynch Private Client Services.
She attended St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Mount Laurel, N.J.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Friday at St. John Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Titzer Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Loretta Fischer
ST. PHILIP, Ind. — Loretta F. Fischer, 76, died Tuesday at Deaconess Hospital from pulmonary fibrosis.
She worked at Deaconess Hospital as a nursing assistant for 14 years and at Fischer Woodworking as a bookkeeper for the last 10 years.
She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Richard J.; two daughters, Marienne Hauschild of Mount Vernon and Catherine Euler of Elberfeld; nine sons, Joseph of Mount Vernon, Glenn of Greenwood, Patrick of Indianapolis and James, Robert, Stanley, Edward, Steven and Richard, all of Evansville; three sisters, Pauline Fluty of Wichita, Kan., and Edith Hagan and Florence Wannemuehler, both of Evansville; a brother, Richard Schenk of Mount Vernon; and 23 grandchildren.
A son, Mark, died in 1951.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Philip Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm. Thursday, with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at Pierre Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.

Harold Walls
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Harold W. Walls, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Daviess Community Hospital.
He retired from the McCord Corp.
He was a member of the Trinity Gospel Tabernacle.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; four daughters, Marilyn and Dorothy Mathis and Donna James, all of Washington, and Arvilla Thompson of Plainfield; two stepdaughters, Virginia Sams of Vincennes and Terry Sue Pickett of Peoria, Ill.; four sons, James of Boise, Idaho, Eugene of Gosport and David and Kenneth, both of Washington; two stepsons, William T. and Gary Wilson, both of Farmington, N.M.; a brother, Denver of Otwell; 28 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
His first wife, Fannie Harriett (Adams), his second wife, Virginia (Wilson), and a son, Paul, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Trinity Gospel Tabernacle, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Gill Funeral Home and from noon to service time at the church.

Jane Lewis
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Jane A. Lewis, 90, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Washington Nursing Center.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Largent of Indiantown, Fla., and Carolyn Shaner of Monroe City; a son, Maurice Dean Cunningham of Washington; a sister, Wilma Fox of Brooksville, Fla.; a brother, Earl Tom Lett of Washington; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Theodore Cunningham, died in 1953, her second husband, Raymond Lewis, died in 1964, and a son, Donald J. Cunningham, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. EST Thursday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Lloyd Gudgel
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Lloyd Gudgel, 92, died Tuesday, at St. Mary’s Warrick.
She was a member of the Main Street
United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Club, Captain Jacob Warrick Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Tri Kappa.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Del Clutter of Boonville; a son, John Edward Jr. of Littleton, Colo.; three grandchildren, Lisa Miller, Rod Clutter Jr. and John Edward Gudgel III; and seven great-grandchildren.
Her husband, John E. Sr., died in 1966.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Harriett Wendholt
HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — Harriett V. Wendholt, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at her home.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Christian Mothers.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Walter V.; two daughters, Julia Mihelick of Salem, S.C., and Kathryn Snowden of Jasper; a son, Gregory of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Carolyn Buehler, died in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home, with a joint prayer and memorial service at 7 p.m.

Clay Herrell
ROCKPORT, Ind. — Clay E. Herrell, 88, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at his home.
He had been an oil promoter for Shell Oil Co.
He was a member of the Hatfield United Methodist Church, the Richland Lions Club and a member of the Advisory Committee for Luce Township Trustees.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, June Herrell of Rockport; two daughters, Anna Joyce Meece of Hatfield and Bettye June Weatherholt of Evansville; two sons, William “Bill” of Owensboro, Ky., and Dennis of Hatfield; three sisters, Mildred Halbruge of Rockport, Clata Horn of Evansville and Emilie Pickerill of Hatfield; a brother, Louie of Hatfield; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral home, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery in Richland.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care.

James Campbell
HENDERSON, Ky. — James Thomas Campbell, 55, died Monday at his sister’s home of heart failure.
He retired from World Color Inc. as a machine operator.
He was a member of the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Louisville and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are five stepdaughters, Beniola “Bean” and Kathy Bacon, Mary Eskridge, Willie Gerton and Emily Washington, all of Louisville; three stepsons, John and Duncan Eskridge, both of Louisville, and Christopher Eskridge of Chicago; his mother, Mildred P. Odom of Woodburn, Ky.; two sisters, Frances O. Baker of Henderson and Carole P. Whitlock of Evansville; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Friday at Greenhill Baptist Church in Frankfort, with burial in Greenhill Cemetery .
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the church in Frankfort and from 6 to 8 p.m. CST Thursday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Henderson.
Mason Bros. Audubon Chapel is handling arrangements.

Wanda Frederick
HENDERSON, Ky. — Wanda Sue Frederick, 55, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Methodist Hospital of an aneurysm.
She was a member of the Living Faith Tabernacle.
Surviving are four daughters, Irene Owens of Tilden and Brenda Buchanan, Tammy Helms and Evelyn Householder, all of Henderson; a son, Johnny Frederick of Corydon; a sister, Janie Meeks of Englewood, Colo.; five brothers, Carlon Sparks of Robards, Randy Sparks of Corydon and James, Dwayne and Lonnie Sparks, all of Henderson; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Thomas Edward, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Living Faith Tabernacle, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.

Margaret Brackett
MORGANFIELD, Ky. — Margaret Abell “Mama B” Brackett, 94, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at the home of her granddaughter, Kathy Creasey of Sturgis.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Bill, Richard and Mark Lichtefeld, Mary Margaret Logsdon, Jon and Melissa Greenwell and Krissie Piper; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A daughter, Mary Anne Greenwell, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann Catholic Church, with burial in St. Ann Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at Whitsell Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Aline Marlow
PALESTINE, Ill. — Aline Marlow, 81, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Crawford Memorial Hospital.
She retired from the specialty printing department at the Robinson Daily News.
She was a member of the Eagles, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliaries and the Women of the Moose.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Brodie of Carlisle, Ind.; three sisters, Rayburn Homcoe and Gayle Hubber, both of Hammond, Ind.; a brother, Dick Wells of Foley, Ala.; three granddaughters, Loretta Lynn Bishop, Tamara Wisdom and Charlotte Roach; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Enos Bishop, her second husband, Ron Marlow, a daughter in infancy and a son, Gregory Eugene Bishop.
Services will be at 8 p.m. today at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial pending at Jones Cemetery in Flat Rock.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Kathern Yates
MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. — Kathern R. Yates, 64, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Wabash General Hospital. She had diabetes.
She had worked at Caterpillar in Joliet and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliaries.
Surviving are three sisters, Emma Michaels of Grayville, and Martha Higgins and Eula Banks, both of Mount Carmel; and three brothers, Joe and Roy Banks, both of Mount Carmel, and Willard Banks of Leesville, La.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Allendale Cemetery. There will be no visitation at Short Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

James McGuire
MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. — James E. McGuire, 67, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He retired from Snap-On Tools in 1996, after 40 years.
He was an Army veteran.
He was a member of the First Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma (Abney); a daughter, Melissa Henze of Shelbyville; three sons, Terry and Bradley, both of Mount Carmel, and Brian of Carbondale; a sister, Olive L. Wallace of Mount Carmel; two brothers, Bob of Pine Haven, Wyo., and Dick of Oxnard, Calif.; and five grandsons, Travis, Daniel and Nathan McGuire and Bryce and Preston Henze.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of God, with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Short Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.

Lisa Schneider
Lisa Renee Schneider, 39, of Evansville, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at North Park Nursing Center of cancer. She attended Bethel Temple.
Surviving are a daughter, Adrea Schneider of Medina, Ohio; her mother, Sandra Bennington of Medina; her father, Wayne Rager of Evansville; a half sister, Tonya Vanhoosier of Santa Claus, Ind.; and a brother, Scott Rager of Medina.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Locust Hill Cemetery, the Rev. John Hilbert officiating. There will be no visitation at Pierre Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice.

Agnes Blaser
Agnes C. Blaser, 98, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Parkview Convalescent Center. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and worked in their school cafeteria before retiring.
She enjoyed crocheting.
Surviving are a daughter, Julia A. Payne of Evansville; a son, David of Evansville; seven grandchildren, Keith Blaser, Karen Pickett, Kimberly Zink, Cathy Elpers and Tim, Dan and Tom Payne; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Joseph, died in 1975.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Rev. Fred Englert officiating, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at Pierre Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to service time at the church.

Eileen Price
Eileen (Haire) Price, 71, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of kidney failure.
She had been a waitress at Dusty’s.
She was Baptist and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Davies of Mount Vernon, Ind. and Rose Marcum and Julie Haire, both of Evansville; two sons, Thomas of Leechburg, Pa., and Timothy of Evansville; a sister, Martha Jarvis of Wadesville; two brothers, Ronald and Marvin Haire, both of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Thomas Owen Sr., died in 1963 and a son, Peter, died in 1998.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, the Rev. David Marcum officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Dwight Johnson
Dwight M. Johnson, 48, formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia from a heart attack.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Wood Funeral Home in Philadelphia is handling arrangements.

Charlie Church
Charlie Ann “Babe” Church, 85, formerly of Evansville, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Oakland, Calif.
She had been a member, church pianist and Sunday school teacher at McFarland Baptist Church in Evansville.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ruth Woodson of Oakland, Calif.; a son, Clarence Austin Jr. of Denver; a sister, Bertha Bowling of Oakland; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Oakland, with burial in Mount Eden Cemetery in Hayward, Calif.

Alice Smith
Alice I. Smith, 78, of Evansville, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She and her late husband, Robert E. “Red,” who died in 1988, owned and operated Smith’s Antiques in Terre Haute, Ind.
Surviving are daughter with whom she lived, Alice A. Keller of Evansville; two sons, Robert E. of Paducah, Ky. and Jerry G. of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel in Terre Haute, with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the chapel.

Herman Litschgi
Herman G. Litschgi, 73, of Evansville, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital from a stroke.
He taught at Boonville and Mount Vernon high schools and Lockyear Business College. He was a counselor for the Indiana Department of Public Instruction.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a graduate of Bosse High School, Evansville College and Indiana University.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Barbara; two daughters, Mindy Jochem and Ede Boots, both of Evansville; and three grandchildren, Jared and Casey Jochem and Larry Boots.
A daughter, Fleta Litschgi, died in 1963.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. John R. Hilbert officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderburgh County Humane Society or Corpus Christi Capital Campaign Building Fund.

Walter Kleinschmidt
Walter J. Kleinschmidt, 82, of Indianapolis formerly of Evansville, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at Carmel Care Center in Indianapolis from Parkinson’s Disease.
He retired after 33 years as a research biochemist with Eli Lilly. He was one of the pioneers in interferon research.
He was a Central High School graduate, received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and his master’s and doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society and National Association for the Advancement Science.
He was served on the board of directors of the Indiana Civil Liberties Union and on the Committee for Juvenile Justice.
Surviving are his wife, Martha (Walker) a son, Eric Walker Kleinschmidt of Providence, R.I.; three sisters, Norma Abell, Ann K. Betulius and Helen McClanahan, all of Evansville and two granddaughters, Valerie and Lisa Kleinschmidt.
Leppert & Hensley Funeral Home in Indianapolis handled the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Awareness Association of Central Indiana.

Earl Clark Jr.
TELL CITY — Earl R. “Pop” Clark Jr., 75, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He owned and operated service stations in Tell City including, Clark's Sinclair and Clark's Texaco Stations and had worked for Hearth Food Service. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Lucille; a daughter, Marcia Montgomery of Poseyville; two sons, Mark A. and Gary, both of Tell City; a brother, Elbert of Evansville; and six grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Josh, Shawn, Shannon and Lesley Clark.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church. There will be no visitation at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Alberta Frederick
PETERSBURG — Alberta May “Bertie” Frederick, 80, did Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
She was a member of Emanuel Southern Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Toni K. Lee of Gainesville, Fla.; two sons, Larry D of Petersburg and Roger G. of Overland Parks, Kan.; a brother, Robert Marcrum of Paradise; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Gene L., died in 1975.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery in Evansville.
