Pauline A. Parton Rites
BURLINGTON - Funeral services for Pauline A. Parton, of St. Francis Park, who died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 at Fletcher-Allen Health Care, were held Friday, Jan. 23 in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home.
The Rev. Henry Furman, Parochial Vicar of St. Monica Church, officiated. Words of Remembrance were offered by her daughters, Melody Harvey and Michelle Green and her brother, John Whitehill. Fellowship and luncheon followed at the Barre Universalist Church.
Interment will be made at a later date in the McIndoe Falls Cemetery. The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street in Barre assisted the family with the arrangements.

Mildred E. "Millie" Halvosa Rites
BARRE TOWN - A Service of Remembrance was held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Barre Congregational Church for Mildred E. "Millie" Halvosa, of Cardinal Circle, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at her home.
The Rev. David Vanderlinde-Abernathy, pastor of the church, officiated. Organist Eric Giles accompanied the congregation in the Hymns "Blessed Assurance" and "In The Garden". Fellowship and luncheon followed in the fellowship hall.
The committal service preceded the church service in the Hope Cemetery. The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street in Barre, assisted the family with the arrangements

George A. Donovan
WASHINGTON, VT - George A. Donovan, 75, died on Friday, January 23, 2004 at his home on Main Street, after a long bout with cancer.
He was born in Springfield, VT on April 12, 1928, the only child of George James and Susan Mae (Glynn) Donovan. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1947 and the University of Vermont in 1951 with degrees in Mathematics, Physics and German. He also attended Yale University and the University of Colorado in Ft. Collins, CO. He was employed by Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, NY and also worked at White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. He served in the US Army in Germany and other European bases from 1954 to 1956. He was employed by the State of Vermont Highway Department and the State Development Agency for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1992.
For 50 years he was a member of the Washington Baptist Church and served as organist during most of that time as well as being involved as a youth group leader and choir director. He served on the Washington Village School Board, the town planning study committee, was Town Moderator from 1964-1974 and was a volunteer with the Washington Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Constance Flint whom he married August 28, 1954 in Washington; five children, Bruce and his wife Eileen of Barre, Norma of Randolph Center, Jim and his wife Diane of Winchester, MA, Lois of Woodstock and George F. and his wife Robin of South Burlington; grandchildren, Jenna, Jack, Robin, Karen, Samantha, Heather and Lauren; many cousins.
The greatest joy in his retirement years was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered by his family and his colleagues for his natural gift for statistics, mathematics and his love of music.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in the Washington Baptist Church. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 27 at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street in Barre. Albert L. Clark
WATERBURY - Albert L. Clark, 60, passed away at the Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, January 22, 2004. Born in Waterbury on April 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Marshall W. and Ethel V. (Farnsworth) Clark Sr.
Blind from birth, Albert attended school in Pennsylvania and was a 1961 graduate of the Boston School for the Blind in Worcester MA. He spent his life working whenever and however he was able. He strived to do the things in life that people with sight could which included riding a motorcycle and skiing. Albert loved music and playing the piano as well as listening to the radio. He lived in Springfield MA for many years, making his home in Burlington for the past year and a half.
He is survived by his siblings; Eleanor Smith and Gloria Cowens, both of Moretown; Charlene Derosia of Highgate, Mary Boyce and her husband, Everett of Hyde Park, Walter Clark and his wife, Linda of Wolcott, Robert Clark and his wife, Peggy of Westfield MA, and Calvin Clark and his companion, Diane King of Fletcher; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Tess, as well as a brother, Marshall Clark Jr.
A memorial service will be held from the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Monday at 7 p.m. Later inurnment will take place in Phillips Cemetery, Duxbury. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 37 Elmwood Ave., Burlington, Vermont 05401. *

Brian K. Thayer
EAST BARRE - Brian K. Thayer, 33, of 180 Mill Street passed away Thursday, January 22, 2004.
Born in Middletown, Conn. on July 6, 1970 he was the son of the late George and Nancy (Murray) Thayer, Sr.
Brian was a graduate of Middletown High School in Portland, Conn.
In 1993 he came to Vermont.
He was employed as a truck driver for Pine State Trading Co. of East Montpelier.
His hobbies were, boating, hunting, going to yard sales and car shows, working on his car and collecting wolves and hot wheel cars.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Miller-Thayer of West Haven, Conn.; his step-father, Kenneth Clark of Middletown, Conn.; his fiancée, Sarah Porter of East Barre; one sister, Elaine Thayer of Carbondale, Col; two brothers, George Thayer, Jr. and wife, Mary of Berlin, Vt. and Scott Thayer and wife Katherine of Middletown, Conn; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre. The Rev. Richard Forcier, of the Universalist Church, of Barre, will officiate.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. *

Clayton E. Welch, Rites
SOUTH BARRE - Funeral Services were held Friday, January 23, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, in Barre, for Clayton E. Welch of 12 Christie Street, who passed away January 19, 2004 at his home.
The Pastor Craig Thompson officiated. In attendance was the Rev. William S. Wick of Northfield, Vt.
Organist, Lorna Carty, accompanied the congregation in the hymns, "How Great Thou Art," "The Old Rugged Cross," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus."
Masonic services were held Thursday evening at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, in Barre, by the Barre Masonic Granite Lodge #35, led by Worshipful Master, Palmer E. Martin; Chaplain, Joseph E. Ryan; Senior Warden, L. James Daniels and Junior Warden, David K. Campbell.
Active bearers were, David Norkeveck, Ryan Putney, Michelle Daley, Nicole Savoie, Jay Brogan, Garrett Brogan, Daryl Norkeveck, Kevin Putney, Melanie Slocom, Abbey Welch and Brenden Brogan, all grandchildren
Entombment was in Elmwood Vault, in Barre. A later spring burial will be in the Fairfax Plains Cemetery in Fairfax, Vt. Following the service, a fellowship luncheon was held in the church dining room for family and friends.
Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, Vt.

Phyllis M. Archer
HANCOCK - Phyllis M. Archer, 90, of Hancock, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
She was born April 11, 1913, in Eden, the daughter of Frank and Josie (Adams) Sulham.
She graduated from Rochester High School in 1933.
She married Karl Archer in 1937 in Hancock. Mr. Archer died in 1949.
She was employed as a librarian at the Hancock Public Library for 30 years. She also did laundry and mending for local families for 15 years. She was the Hancock correspondent for the White River Valley Herald for many years.
She enjoyed cooking and sewing.
She was a member of the Hancock P.T.A. and was a life-long member of the National Geographic Society.
She is survived by a son, Basil Archer of Hancock.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Hancock Granville Community Church in Hancock, with the Rev. Wayne Holsman officiating. Calling hours will be 12 to 1 p.m. before the service. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph in the spring.

Lucy Roberta Hunt Prior
BRIDGEWATER CORNERS - Lucy Roberta Hunt Prior, 91, died Jan. 6, 2004, at her home in Bridgewater Corners.
She was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Stockbridge, the daughter of Lucian "Clyde" Hunt and Bessie Evelyn (Sawyer) Hunt.
She attended schools in Stockbridge and Bethel. She graduated from Lyndon State College in 1932.
She married Erwin Wilson Prior on Aug. 3, 1934, in Whitehall, N.Y. Mr. Prior died June 10, 1988.
She was employed as a teacher in Sherburne and Bridgewater for 20 years, and taught reading at the Barnard School. She was a school director for the town of Bridgewater. She was also a justice of the peace in Bridgewater for several years
She was a member of the Bridgewater Congregational Church. She enjoyed being active in the community, and helping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, LeRoy Erwin Prior of Mendon and Allen Lewis Prior of Northfield; two daughters, Doris Prior Dean and Betty Prior Putnam, both of Bridgewater Corners; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Curtis of Northboro, Mass. and Arlene Dorgan of Westfield, Conn.; two brothers, Keith Hunt of Amherst, Mass. and Peter Hunt of Holliston, Mass.
She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Hutchins; two brothers, Allen Hunt and Lucian C. Hunt Jr.; and her stepmother, Lora Bell Larmie.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in the Bridgewater Congregational Church in Bridgewater, with the Rev. Beverly Anderson officiating. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.

Devota Kathryn Welch
EAST MONTPELIER - Devota Kathryn Welch, 93, of Burbank, CA, and formerly of East Montpelier, died Dec. 27, 2003, in Tarzana, CA.
Born Dec. 5, 1910, in Amherst, Nova Scotia, daughter of George Washington Greene and Lennie Mae Allen, she immigrated with her family to Vermont in 1926 and graduated from Montpelier Seminary in 1930. On May 4, 1931 she married Harry Joseph Welch in Barre, VT.
The couple owned and operated a dairy and crop farm in East Montpelier, VT from 1932 to 1952 where they raised four children, Devota, Lennie, David and Dorothy.
In 1953 Harry and Devota moved west to California, settling in Glendale where Devota became a full time bookkeeper. The couple retired to Frazier Park, CA in the early 80s where Harry died in 1993. Devota remained independent and self sufficient - living on her own for several years and eventually relocating in Texas to be near her sister Ellen. Later she returned to Burbank, CA, living with her daughter Lennie until her death.
Devota was an adventurer at heart. Her first date with Harry was an airplane ride and she enjoyed a hot air balloon ride at the age of 88. She and Harry traveled all fifty states by camper, making lasting friends everywhere they went. In 1976 she and Harry brought their eight grandchildren to Crossett Hill Farm in Vermont for the entire summer, giving them first hand experience of a working farm.
Devota enjoyed laughter and a hearty meal on Christmas Eve 2003 and only two days later died of a stroke at Tarzana Regional Hospital. A true spirit of a lost era, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter Lennie (Dickson), son David (Welch), younger sister Ellen (Parker), 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2004 at 11:00am at the Eckerman Heisman Mortuary in Burbank, California.

Barbara June Abbott
NORTHFIELD - Barbara June Abbott, 76, of Northfield, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at the Four Season's Community Care Home in Northfield.
She was born May 7, 1927, in Northfield, the daughter of Arthur and Beulah (Adams) Abbott.
She graduated from Northfield High School in 1946. She lived in Northfield before moving to Four Season's two years ago.
She was employed as a secretary for Rock of Ages in Northfield and Barre for 30 years. She later worked for the Montpelier National Bank and Vermont National Bank for several years.
She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and flowers.
She is survived by one brother, Ronald Abbott of Brookline, Mass.; one sister, Elaine Colby of Soddy, Tenn.; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Abbott Knapp.
Calling hours will be from 3 p.m. until the funeral service at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield. Burial will take place at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Northfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Vermont Chapter Arthritis Foundation, Box 422, Burlington, VT 05401.

Scott Brimblecombe
BARRE - A memorial service for Scott Brimblecombe, who died Dec. 4, 2003, in Berlin, was held Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Barre Universalist Church.
Rev. Richard Forcier officiated.
Barber and Lanier Funeral and Cremation was in charge of the arrangements.

Walter Plattner
CALAIS - Walter Plattner, 82, of Mirror Lake, died Monday, December 8, 2003 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born December 4, 1921 in New York City, son of Charles and Anna (Wunner) Plattner. He graduated from the Evander Childs High School in New York City. He married Helen C. Ristau on April 12, 1947 in New York City. Following their marriage they lived in the Bronx and following his retirement they made their home in Calais. He was a Senior Court Officer for the New York State Supreme Court in the Bronx, retiring in 1976. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycling and the out-of-doors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval service during World War II from 1942 to 1945 and was discharged as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He was a Deacon in the East Calais Union Church, a member of Barre Post #10, The American Legion, a life member of the Barre Canadain Club and had been a member of the Dancers of the Swinging over 60's Band that entertained at area nursing homes.
Besides his wife, survivors include; three sons, Wayne Plattner and his wife Janet of Manhasset, LI, Douglas Plattner and his wife Carol of Wellington, FL and Curt Plattner and his wife Andrea of Dutchess County, New York; four grandchildren, Sarah Belanger of Nashua, NH, Felicia Plattner of Boca Raton, FL, Curt Jason Plattner and Alexis Plattner both of Dutchess County, NY.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Hoetzl.
Interment will be made at a later date at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, VT 05641 or to the East Calais Union Church, c/o Pastor David Hunter, 182 Elm Street, Montpelier, VT 05602. Prof. Fred E. Steele III
MONTPELIER - Prof. Fred E. Steele III died Wed. Dec. 10, 2003, at Mayo Health Care in his 93rd year. A sixth-generation Vermonter, he was born November 4, 1911, in Waterbury, the only child of Dr. Fred E. Steele Jr. and Emilie Kelsey Grow Steele. He was educated in elementary schools in Waterbury, VT; New Orleans, LA; Boston, MA; received his high school diploma in North Hampton, MA; and prepared for college at Williston Academy.
Following the family tradition of three generations of Steele sons, he attended Norwich University in Northfield, and was valedictorian for the Class of 1933. In addition he was Skull and Swords and Maroon Key, editor-in-chief of the school annual and newspaper, and vice president of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He holds degrees from both Norwich and Columbia University.
His first teaching job was at People's Academy in Morrisville where he met his wife, the former Phyllis Glazier. She taught English and Latin in Stowe, then taught in Morrisville, and finally terminated her career after their marriage to raise their daughter. Mrs. Steele died in August, 1997.
On Pearl Harbor Day, Prof. Steele was principal of Shelburne High School; the next day he was called into the Army and was unable to return to his native Vermont for more than two decades. He was stationed briefly at the Pentagon outside of Washington, D.C., before leaving for wartime duty in the United Kingdom. In London, he was on Gen. Dwight Eisenhower's staff during preparation for the D-Day invasion of Normandy. In 1945, he assumed command of U.S. Army forces in Scotland and Ulster.
Upon returning to the United States, Prof. Steele resumed his teaching career and was chairman of the English departments at colleges in California and New York. A military tour of duty again interrupted in 1952, when he took his family to Salzburg, Austria, during the allied occupation. In 1955 he returned to New York to resume teaching, and finally returned to Montpelier in 1963 where he headed the English Department at Vermont College. He and his wife lived on Liberty Street in Montpelier for 33 years.
Among the many associations to which Prof. Steele belonged are the Masons, the Elks, the American Legion, the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, and the Overseas Press Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana (Mrs. Charles Love, Sherman Village, CA), his granddaughter Victoria (Mrs. John Wetzel, San Mateo, CA), and his grandson Josh Love (Sherman Oaks, CA).
Funeral Service will be held on Sat. Dec. 13 at 11 AM in the Barber and Lanier Funeral Home 139 Main St. Montpelier. A calling hour will be from 10 AM until the time of service. Spring burial will be in Green Mount Cemetery.

John Miserak Stotesbury
HARDWICK - John Miserak Stotesbury, 18, of Hardwick, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in Hardwick.
He was born Oct. 10, 1985, in Morrisville, the son of John DewittField Miserak Sr. and Tracy Lynne Shepard.
He attended Hardwick public schools, Hazen Union, and was a student at the Lamoille Valley Vocational Center in Hyde Park.
During school vacations he assisted in Matthew Churchills¡¦ electrical business in East Hardwick.
He was a member of the Hardwick Amateur Boxing Club and enjoyed four-wheeling, music, and spending time with his friend Casey.
He is survived by his mother, Tracy Shepard of Hudson, N.H.; his father, John D. Miserak Sr. of Cedar Grove, Tenn.; his stepfather, Kenneth Stotesbury of Hardwick; two sisters, Chandelle Shepard of East Hardwick and Shauna Shepard of Hardwick; maternal grandparents, Sandra and Howard Hamel of Alexandria, N.H.; paternal grandparents, Beatrice and Armand Gelinaeu of Hardwick; a special friend, Casey Thompson of Hardwick; a niece, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Craig S. Shepard Jr. in 1992.
Visiting hours will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home in Hardwick. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at the funeral home, with Alden Launer officiating. Spring burial will be in the family lot in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick.

Stanley E. Wolcott
BARRE – Stanley E. Wolcott, 83, a long-time Barre resident, passed away on December 2, 2003 at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.
The son of Emma (Lezer) and Forrest Wolcott, he was born in East Barre July 20, 1920. He attended schools in East Barre, graduating from Spaulding High School in 1938.
Stanley served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 as a Sergeant in Company I of the 424th Infantry Regiment and had been stationed in the European Theater of Operations.
On August 21, 1949 he married Lucy Agosta in St. Monica Church and they renewed their vows as part of their 50th wedding anniversary celebration in 1999.
He was employed for many years by the Vermont Liquor Control Board as manager of the State Liquor Store in Barre. Subsequently, he was employed at the First Vermont Bank and later at the Grand Union grocery store in Barre.
A member of St. Monica Church, he enjoyed his years of ushering at the parish masses. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime member of the Barre Post #10, The American Legion and the Mutuo, Inc.
His special interest was vacationing and trout fishing at Lake Willoughby for many years.
Stanley is survived by Lucy, his wife of 54 years, by a sister-in-law Nancy A. Perrelli of Annandale, Virginia, a brother-in-law Nevio Agosta of Williston, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Alton Wolcott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Monica Church in Barre. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Father Bernard Messier Capital Improvements Fund, c/o St. Monica Church, 79 Summer St., Barre VT 05641.

Stanley E. Wolcott, Rites
BARRE - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre for Stanley E. Wolcott, 83, of Bank Street, who died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. The Rev. Peter Routhier, pastor, was the celebrant. Albert Gagnon was the Crucifer and led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Organist, Angeline Ennis accompanied niece, JoAnne Mead in the congregational hymns, "Here I Am Lord," "You Are Mine", and "On Eagles' Wings" as well as the solo renditions of "Panis Angelicus," and "Ave Maria".
Words of Remembrance were offered by nephew, Thomas Perrelli. Scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were by sister-in-law, Nancy Perrelli and niece, Patty Whitty. Nieces, Nancy Southwell and Caryn Trivett presented the offertory gifts at the altar.
Burial was made in Hope Cemetery in Barre where Father Routhier offered committal prayers. The flag was presented to his wife, Lucy Wolcott by Bruce W. Judd of the Barre Post 10 American Legion. The honorary bearers from the Mutuo Inc. were Angelo Ambrosini, James Broggini, Manuel Carcoba, Robert Brault, and Anthony Kvedar. The active bearers were all members of the Bishop Brady Council 399, Knights of Columbus, Edward Ferrari Sr., Edward Ferrari Jr., Robert Bates, Noel Wood, Richard Luce, and Andre Rouleau.
The Charles Jasman Assembly 1151, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, provided an Honor Guard at the funeral home as well as an Honorary Escort at the church and the Hope Cemetery. The Ladies of the Knights of Columbus also provided an Honorary Escort at the church. Fellowship and luncheon followed at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Pine Hill Road.

Margie A. Anderson
SOUTH BARRE - Margie A. Anderson, 80, of South Barre Road, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at her home.
Born August 6, 1923 in Gilead, Maine, she was the daughter of Ernest and Mae (Arem-burg) Curtis. She graduated from the Haverhill Academy in Haverhill, N.H.
On December 31, 1941, she married John E. Anderson in Watertown, N.Y. They made their home in Wells River before moving to Barre in the early 1960s. He died on April 10, 2001.
She worked for many years at Barre Town Elementary School.
She attended St. Monica's Catholic Church in Barre and was a member of the Altrusa International of Barre. She volunteered throughout her life in many capacities, most recently at the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice.
Margie was a friend and a mother to countless others outside her family circle. She embraced a constant optimism towards life right up until her death. She enoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, crafts, and her birds.
Survivors include her children, Sandra Roberts and her husband, Ted of Wells River, John "Jack" Anderson and his wife, Patricia of Bethlehem, NH, David Anderson of Plainfield, NH, Tom Anderson and his wife, Holly of South Barre, and Laurie LaPlant and her husband, Steve of Colchester; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Priscilla Mayberry of Lancaster, NH, Ruth Worden of Lebanon, NH, and Nancy Anderson and her husband, Warren of Lynn, MA; a brother, Bob Curtis and his wife, Georgette of Cumberland Center, ME; many nieces and nephews; special family friends, Susan Marsha, Ann Peloquin, Phyllis Bullard, and Lorraine Aja.
A brother, Norman Curtis and a sister, Phyllis Locke predeceased her.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 12:00 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, 05641 or to the ALS (Lou Gehrig's) Foundation, 80 Colchester Avenue, Burlington 05401.

Rosalind Barrows Chenoweth
BERLIN - There will be a memorial service for Rosalind Barrows Chenoweth, who died Oct. 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Maple Grove Unit of the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. All are welcome to attend.

Margaret "Peg" E. Corvin
WILLISTON - Peg Corvin passed away Monday, December 1, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
She was born August 31, 1928, in Middlebury, daughter of Thomas F. and Mary T. (Dillon) Corvin. Peg graduated from Springfield High School and then from the Grace Institute Business School in NYC. She also attended New York University.
She was employed by the Union Carbide Corporation for 39 years, retiring as a manager of Administrative Services. After retiring she moved to Williston in 1986. Peg especially enjoyed gatherings of her family and many friends, especially the Dugases of New Hampshire and Florida and the Kupiacs of Vermont. She will always be remembered for her generosity, independence, her fierce Irish pride and sense of humor.
She is survived by a niece, Theresa C. Condon and her husband Gerald of Voorheesville, NY; cousins Mary G. Finn of Barre, VT, Eileen Mountain of Greenfield, MA, Dillon Baldwin and his wife Martha of Middlebury, and Anne Baldwin of Middlebury.
She is predeceased by her parents; sister Agnes Ouimette; and brother Francis Corvin.
The family will receive relatives and friends during 9 - 10 AM calling hours on Friday, December 5th at Sanderson Funeral Home, 117 S. Main St., Middlebury. Afterwards a funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM at St. Mary¡¦s Church in Middlebury. Interment will take place at 10 AM in St. Mary¡¦s Cemetery on Saturday, December 6th. Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Mary's Catholic School, 86 Shannon St., Middlebury, VT, 05753 or to Vermont Catholic Charities, 351 North Ave, Burlington, VT, 05401. Dr. Marc E. Hull
CABOT - Dr. Marc E. Hull, 61, of Main Street, died Monday, December 1, 2003, at his home after several years of ill health and intense pain.
Born on July 26, 1942 in Lebanon, NH, he was the son of Douglas H. and Hilda (Jock) Hull. He graduated from Hartford High School in White River Jct. in 1960, received his Bachelor Degree in Speech from the University of Vermont in 1964, and obtained a Masters Degree in Education in 1972. He went on and obtained his Doctorate in Inter-Disciplinary Education from Texas A & M University in 1976.
On November 1, 1964, he married Pamela Orr in the Ascutney Union Church. They made their home in the Lyndonville area, Burlington, College Station, TX, and East Montpelier before moving to Cabot in 1993.
Marc worked as a Boy Scouts of America Executive in the North East Kingdom and was an Eagle Scout. He was a teacher at the St. Johnsbury Community School in Special Education and was a lay minister with the St. Johnsbury Congregational Church. He also taught at the University of Vermont for a few years. While in Texas, he had worked at the Texas A & M University. Returning to Vermont and East Montpelier, he began work for the State of Vermont as Assistant Director of Special Education and later as Director and served as minister at the East Barre Congregational Church. Marc was Superintendent of Schools for Calendonia Central Supervisory Union in Danville. From 1996 to 1999, he served as Commissioner of Education for the State of Vermont. Most recently, he had served as a Federal Programs Administrator for the Vermont Department of Education.
Throughout his life, he was active in the churches where he lived. His goal in life was to walk with God and serve Him through Jesus Christ which was reflected in his personal and professional life.
He enjoyed gardening and bird watching, especially blue birds. Marc loved to sing and to share his gift given to him with others.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela; his children, Christopher S. Hull of Salt Lake City, UT, Joanna L. Broderick and her husband, Kevin of Plainfield, and Alexis D. Hull of Dallas, TX; a special nephew, Jason D. Hull and his daughter, Savannah of Randolph; two grandchildren, Vincent C. Broderick and Lillian B. Broderick; his father, Douglas H. Hull and his wife, Hazel of South Royalton; three brothers, Douglas E. Hull and his wife, Catherine of Worcester, William L. Hull and his wife, Jeanne of East Barre, and Stephen H. Hull and his wife, Rita of South Royalton; a sister, Linda B. Hull of Woodbury; many nieces and nephews.
His mother, Hilda predeceased him.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Vermont State House Chamber in Montpelier on Friday at 12:30 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship. There are no calling hours.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Dr. Marc E. Hull Memorial Scholarship Fund, Washington Northeast Supervisory Union, 6328 US Route 2, Plainfield, 05667.

Bernice W. Langley
DELAND, FLA. - Bernice W. Langley, formerly of Barre, died Nov. 23, 2003, at Florida Hospital in Deland, Fla.
She was born June 2, 1930, in Barre, daughter of Laurence and Alta (Coan) LeClair.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest; a daughter, Dawn Lacroix of Barre; two stepsons, Brian of Ellsworth, Maine and Michael Langley of Seoul, Korea; a sister, Sharon Dodge of Barre; a brother, Eugene LeClaire of Shelburne; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Harold LeClair of Waterbury.
A memorial service was held in Deland, Fla. Interment will be held at a later date in the LeClair family plot in Barre.

Helen B. Stafford
WAITSFIELD - Helen B. Stafford, 84, passed away at the Berlin (VT) Health and Rehabi-litation Center following a long illness on Friday, November 28, 2003. Born in Potsdam NY on June 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mamie (Cassidy) Bloss. On February 15, 1940, she married Donald C. Stafford in Northfield VT. Mr. Stafford passed away on May 2, 1994.
Helen and Donald had resided in Waitsfield VT since 1947 in a home that they had built themselves. Helen not only raised three children but also ran a preschool in her home, ran the hot lunch program for the Waitsfield Elementary School, was a librarian for the Joslin Memorial Library and served as an assistant town clerk for Waitsfield. She and Donald were also employed at the Sugarbush Ski Area in Warren VT.
Helen was a graduate of Parishville (NY) High School and had maintained her childhood home as a summer residence in Parishville NY until 1996, where she enjoyed many dear friends. She was lifetime member of the Morning Star and Queen Esther Chapters of the OES with which she held several offices. The Eastern Star and Masonic Order was a very large part of Helen and Donald¡¦s life. Helen was also a member of the Waitsfield Federated Church (now UCC) and its affiliated Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her children, Roger Stafford of Waitsfield VT, Nancy Keith and her husband, Joe of Kingsland GA, and Kendel Stafford and his wife, Janie of Waterbury VT; 5 grandchildren and one great-grandson; 2 sister-in-laws, Alberta Stafford of Waitsfield and Lucille Stafford of Sheldon CT; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
It was Helen's request that there be no services. Later inurnment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Parishville NY. In her memory, contributions would be appreciated to the Mad River Valley Ambulance Service, PO Box 305, Waitsfield VT 05673. On-line condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.perkinsparker.com. Arrangements are in the care of the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury VT.
Helen's family would like to thank her many friends, both in New York and Vermont, for their calls, cards and letters, and to Dr. Francis Cook and the staff of the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful attention and care.
