HAVERHILL, MA -- Haverhill - Diane E. (Brousseau) Carter, 64, of Haverhill, died Friday, January 13, at her home after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Beatrice G. (Durocher) Brousseau and lived here all of her life. She attended St. Joseph's elementary school and St. James High School. Ms. Carter was a secretary at the Haverhill YWCA, previously waiting tables at Norman's restaurant in Lafayette Square, and working in the local shoe industry. She loved animals and fed the stray cats in her neighborhood.

HAVERHILL, MA -- Louise J. (Foisey) Rheaume-Ayers, 79, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a year long battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill, the daughter of the late, Albert and Netta (Stevens) Foisey, she attended Haverhill public schools. Mrs. Ayers was employed as a stitcher for the Allen Shoe Co. in Haverhill for many years. As a talented seamstress, she ran a successful tailoring business out of her home and enjoyed knitting and crocheting for family and friends. A devoted mother, she loved being involved with her children's activities, such as camping with the boy scouts, fishing, roller skating, sledding, and playing cards. She was a member of the Haverhill knitting club.

HAVERHILL, MA - Ruth V. (Taylor) Bedrick, 88, died Jan. 25, 2006 at the Oxford Manor in Haverhill after a lengthy illness. Born and educated in Cambridge, daughter of the late Glenroy and Kathleen (Anderson) Taylor, she was a graduate of Cambridge High School.
She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and James Young, of West Newbury, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Susan Bedrick, of Florida, two sisters Marjorie Benson, of Arlington, and Dorothy Quinn, of Sharon and six grandchildren. Ruth was predeceased by her sisters, Kath and Norma, and brothers, Brad, Arthur and Earl.
Funeral services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home.

Francis A Behan, 88
HAVERHILL - Francis A Behan, 88, of Haverhill, died Monday, January, 23 at Penacook Place after a brief illness.
Born in Haverhill, son of the late Thomas and Eunice (Anthony) Behan, he was a graduate of Haverhill High School. Mr. Behan worked for Western Electric and AT&T in North Andover for over 26 years until his retirement in 1977. He was an active union member serving on the Executive board of the Communication Workers of America.

Robert C. “Bobby” Shea, 75
HAVERHILL, MA - Robert C. “Bobby” Shea, 75, of Haverhill, died Monday, June 5, 2006, at the home of his daughter after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Peabody, the son of the late, John and Wilma (Matheson) Shea, and was a 1949 graduate of Peabody High School. Mr. Shea was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Navy. He was a member of the Haverhill, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Wilbur Comeau Post, and the Amvet’s Post 147. For over thirty years, Mr. Shea was employed as an Inspector at Lucent Technologies in North Andover until his retirement in 1993. An avid sports fan and outdoorsman, he loved fishing and digging clams, he was very active with local sports teams, including softball, baseball, and bowling.
He leaves his wife, Georgia M. (Chagaris) Shea, of Haverhill, three sons, Michael P., of Freemont, NH, William J., and Robert C., Jr., both of Haverhill, four daughters and their husbands, Virginia E. and Gerald Kukene, and Catherine W. and Joseph Lavallee, of Haverhill, Margaret A. and Michael Nicholson, and Melissa E. Roberts, of Exeter, NH, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Debra Ann, and Patricia Ann, a brother, William J. Shea, and his best friend Sweetie. Charles A. 'Chuck' Karekos, 58
HAVERHILL, MA - Charles A. 'Chuck' Karekos, 58, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Haverhill the son of John and Elizabeth (Petrou) Karekos. He was educated in the Haverhill Public School system and was a 1967 Graduate of Haverhill High School. He was a lifelong member of Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church here in Haverhill. Mr. Karekos was employed as a bookkeeper for various accounting firms throughout the Boston area for many years until illness forced him to retire seven years ago.

William T. McCarthy, 68
HAVERHILL, MA - William T. McCarthy, 68, of Haverhill, died Wednesday, May 17 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lawrence the son of the late Timothy and Dorothy (Donnelly) McCarthy. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.
Mr. McCarthy was a government contractor working with the U.S. Postal Service. He worked closely with his son Kevin as a real estate investor and developer throughout the Merrimack Valley. He was known by his close friends as a generous man who enjoyed spending time with his faithful dog "MAC." He loved boating down the Merrimack River. He served as an intelligence officer in the Air Force.

HAVERHILL, MA - Evelyn (Sturtevant) Lorrigan-Calvi, 81, died Friday, May 12, 2006 at the Heartland of Miamisburg Health Care Nursing Home in Miamisburg, Ohio after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Haverhill, the daughter of the late, Harold H. and Catherine F. (Cronin) Sturtevant and lived here all of her life until moving to Miamisburg, Ohio two years ago. She was a 1942 graduate of Haverhill High School. Mrs. Calvi was employed at the former Western Electric in North Andover for over twenty-five years. After retiring she gave her time as a volunteer at the former Hale Hospital. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and lifelong member of Sacred Hearts Church.

Leslie Ann Pope
AMESBURY, MA - Leslie Ann Pope, of Amesbury, beloved Newburyport teacher, dear friend, mother and wife, died Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston.
Mrs. Pope was born in Brookline, the daughter of Brainerd and Ruth (Cohen) Kenning. She was a 1972 Graduate of Brookline High School, received her bachelors degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her Masters degree from Fitchburg State College. Leslie was devoted to her family, church, and her students, she taught at the Brown and Bresnahan elementary schools in Newburyport for over seventeen years. She leaves her husband, Michael S. Pope, a daughter, Leah Krieger, both of Amesbury, her mother, Mrs. Ruth Kimmerling, and a sister, Joy Becker, of Milford.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at The Unity on the River Church, 58 Macy St. (Rte 110) Amesbury, MA at 3:00 PM. Cynthia Anne (Gagne) Bellows
HAVERHILL, MA -Cynthia Anne Bellows, 53, of Jonesboro, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2006, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 3, 1952 in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Cyndy was extremely proud of the fact that her childhood years were spent in Maine. She graduated from Haverhill High in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1970. Cyndy had a great love of learning and of literature which led her to complete a B.A. degree in English from the University of Maine at Machias in 1994. Cyndy and her family moved to Franklin, Maine in the early 80's and then to Jonesboro, Maine in 1995.
Cyndy enjoyed people, especially children, and pursued employment which enabled her to spend time with and help others. Her first job was as a child care provider from which she took great pleasure in spending time with the children and their families. In the late 80's, she and her husband Tom owned the Bellows Restaurant in Ellsworth. While working there, she enjoyed meeting new people, making friends, and she especially cherished the time she spent with the love of her life, Tom. For the past ten years, Cyndy was employed by the State of Maine Department of Labor/CareerCenter in Machias. She proudly served the people of Washington County and her position as a Career Consultant enabled her to help people better their lives. During her years of service with CareerCenter, Cyndy received many awards including Employee of the Month and State of Maine Department of Labor Employee of the Year in 2003.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Cyndy's life at Kilburn Commons at the University of Maine at Machias, in Machias, Maine on Sunday, May 28, 2006 at 3:00 PM. The Cyndy Bellows Memorial Scholarship has been formed and the first award will be given in June 2007. This award will be granted to a Washington County High School Senior who has worked hard both academically and for their community. SEABROOK, NH - Robert D. Atherton, Sr., 50 of Seabrook, formerly of Haverhill, and Groveland, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Lynn, son of the late, Donald C. and Gloria M. (Higgins) Atherton, he lived in Groveland and Haverhill before moving to Seabrook. He was a 1974 graduate of Whittier Vo-Tech. Mr. Atherton worked for Freight carriers at Logan airport in Boston for twenty-five years,he then went on to work for Boston Sand and Gravel Co. in Boston, as a cement truck driver for Boston's third harbor tunnel project for five years. He was an avid Patriots fan, enjoyed playing cards and cooking.

Cheryl L. Fitzgerald, 37
HAVERHILL, MA - Cheryl L. Fitzgerald, 37, of Haverhill, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after being stricken suddenly at her home. She was born in Haverhill, the daughter of Robert J. and Frances A. (Sargent) Fitzgerald and lived here all of her life. She attended Haverhill High School, class of 1986, and proudly received her GED in 1996. Cheryl was a homemaker to her five loving children. She enjoyed playing BINGO, listening to music and karaoke.
She leaves her fiance', Patrick W. Moro, five children, Robert J. Jacobs, Walter A. and Cam T. Vitalone, Tyler F. Fitzgerald, and Matthew A.O. Moro, father, Robert J. Fitzgerald, Sr, a brother and sister in law, Robert J.Jr. and Amy Fitzgerald, two sisters, Diane L. Fitzgerald and her fianc', Daniel W. Romaniello, and Heather G. Teal, all of Haverhill, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, in January of 1996, and her sister, Wendy M. Teal in November 1996.

Stephen J. Harty, 53
HAVERHILL - Stephen J. Harty, 53, of Haverhill, died Friday, March 24, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after being stricken suddenly at his home.
Born and educated in Haverhill, he was a 1970 Graduate of Haverhill Trade School. He lived in Utah for twelve years, moving back to Haverhill in 1987. Mr. Harty was an upolsterer by trade. He enjoyed working on cars, and was a talented fiberglass fabricator. He worked at Bradford Auto Repair for many years. He loved all kinds of music and had a great sense of humor.
He leaves his beloved mother, Barbara D. Harty, of Haverhill, two brothers and their wives, Kevin J. and Patricia Harty, of Merrimack, NH, and Shawn P. and Kathleen Harty, of Lowell, MA, three sisters and their husbands, Alice E. and Daniel M.Donovan, of Bradford, Jocelyn J. Campbell, of Reading, and Sara L. and David P. Przybylek, of Shrewsbury, several nieces and nephews, close friends, John Thompson, and Travis Wilson, and former wife, Nancy Bronchella. He was predeceased by his brother in law, Thomas A. Campbell, in July of 2000.

HAVERHILL, MA - Claire A. (Langlois) Comeau, 78, of Haverhill, died Friday, February, 24, 2006 suddenly at her home.
She was born in Haverhill, daughter of the late, Leon and Emma (Boover) Langlois and lived here all of her life. She was a 1945 graduate of Haverhill High School and lifelong member of Sacred Hearts Parish. Mrs. Comeau was employed in the cafeteria of the former Bradford Junior College, and Hale Hospital. She was an active foster grandparent for the Head Start Program in Haverhill for the past three years. She also worked for Eastern Canvas, Ornstein Shoe Co. and Western Electric.

Charles E. McCarthy, 88
HAVERHILL - Charles E. McCarthy-88, of Haverhill, and Seabrook Beach, NH, died Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a brief illness.
Born and educated in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Thomas and Margaret (Groves) McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy 'Mac' was a 1936 graduate of Haverhill High School. He was the co-captain and all star tackle for the Hillies undefeated football team. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. Rita's Church, St. Elizabeth's Church, Seabrook Beach, and finally Sacred Hearts Parish. He was employed as a layout operator at the former Western Electric Co. in North Andover for almost thirty years until his retirement in 1980. Mac loved Seabrook beach and spent many summers there with his beloved family, moving there full time for twenty-four years until returning to Haverhill three years ago. Along with his wife, Ann, they owned and operated the Country Store for four summers. After retiring he became the operator of the Hampton River bridge for fifteen years. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida.

HAVERHILL, MA - Denise Van Coppenolle, 47, of Haverhill, died Monday February 13, after being stricken ill at home.'
Born in Haverhill daughter of Robert F. and Joan I. (Theberge) Van Coppenolle, she attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a 1977 graduate of Haverhill High School. She was employed by the Vernon Plastics Company in Haverhill for over fifteen years, as a manufacturing supervisor.'
She is survived by her loving husband of five years Paul Hewson of Haverhill, a son David A. Hoyt, Jr. and his fianc'e Dawn Daignault of Hampton, NH, a daughter Danielle M. Hoyt of Haverhill, her mother Joan I. Van Coppenolle of Georgetown, two brothers; Wade M. Van Coppenolle and his fianc'e Brenda L. Huber of Epsom, NH, and Mark R. and Diane Van Coppenolle of Raymond, NH, one sister Irene Van Coppenolle of Haverhill, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

HAVERHILL, MA - Arlene (Cantwell) Lyons, 83, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Sunday, February 12, at Hannah Duston Health Care, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Haverhill, the daughter of the late, Bernard J. and Ellen (O'Rourke) Cantwell. She was a Graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1940. Mrs. Lyons was employed as a layout operator at the former Western Electric in North Andover for over thirty-five years until retiring in 1981. She was a lifelong member of St. Georges Church, and St. Georges Catholic Women's Club, and finally, All Saints Church. She also held membership with the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She leaves four sons, Richard Petrin, of Hi-Nella, NJ, Norman Petrin, of Exeter, NH, Gerald Petrin, of Northfield, NH, and Brian Hunkins, of Los Angeles, CA, a brother, Paul Rivard, of NH, five sisters, Flora Labrecque, of AZ, Blanche Drown, of ME, Yvonne MacKenzie and her husband, B.J., of AZ, Theresa Porro and her husband, Vincent, of Bradford, and Claire Bakanosky and her husband, Edward, of Haverhill, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, godson, Gene Zylkuski, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Norman Rivard, and sisters, Florence Driggers, Pauline Huot, Georgette Ciapinsky, and Priscilla Zylkuski.

HAVERHILL, MA - Arlene F. (Hickey) Rollins, 67, of the Bradford section of Haverhill died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.
The widow of Robert M. Rollins who died in 1972, She leaves a son and daughter in law, David W. and Gina (Contarino) Rollins, of Haverhill, three daughters, Cheryl A., Bethane M., and Linda J. Rollins, all of Haverhill, eight wonderful grandchildren, Bryan, Andrew, Amanda, William, Michael, Alicia, Justin, and Tyler, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Maureen P. Bourque in August 2005.

HAVERHILL, MA - Pablo Mora, 55, of Haverhill, formerly of New Jersey, and Puerto Rico, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Oxford Manor after a lengthy illness.
Born and educated in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Miguel and Maria (Aponte) Mora. He leaves five sons, Nelson, Jose, Rudy, Miguel, and Pablo Jr., three daughters, Maria, Wanda, and Arecelis Mora, with whom he lived, three brothers, Miguel, Louis, and Jose, two sisters, Tona and Marie, all of Puerto Rico, sixteen grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial took place in Puerto Rico. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main St. Haverhill.

Maria M. Martinez, 62
HAVERHILL, MA - Maria M. Martinez- 62, of Haverhill died Thursday, June 22, 2006 surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter after a lengthy illness.
She was born and educated in Puerto Rico, the daughter of Francesco and Rafaela (Rosario) Pabon and has lived in Florida and the Boston area for thirty-five years before moving here two years ago. The widow of Jacinto C. Martinez, who died May 18,2006, she leaves her loving daughter, Yolanda Santiago, of Haverhill, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers ,sisters, and several nieces and nephews in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

HAVERHILL, MA - Jacinto C. Martinez, 64, of Orchard St. died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born and educated in the Dominican Republic, the son of Juan and Felipa Martinez .He worked as a merchant seaman and traveled the world. He lived in Florida and the Boston area for thirty-five years before moving to Haverhill two years ago. He leaves his daughter, Yolanda Santiago, of Haverhill, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and nieces and nephews in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. His wife, Maria Martinez died Friday, June 22, 2006.

Helen A. (Flynn) Steer, 87
HAVERHILL, MA - Helen A. (Flynn) Steer, 87, of the Bradford section of Haverhill, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Hannah Duston Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Haverhill, daughter of the late, Thomas F. and Mary A. (Miner) Flynn and lived here all of her life Mrs. Steer was a Haverhill High School Graduate, class of 1936. In 1965 she received her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse graduating from Lawrence Vocational School at the former Bon Secors Hospital in Methuen, and in 1972 she was very proud to graduate from Northern Essex Community College as a Registered Nurse. For many years she worked at the former Hale Hospital, the Havolyn Nursing Home, now known as Hannah Duston Health Care Center and the Baker- Katz Nursing Home, all in Haverhill. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Hearts Parish.

She was born in Concord, New Hampshire, the daughter of Jon W. and Sandra L. (Naylor) Emerson. She spent her childhood in Tilton, NH and was a 1980 Graduate of Winnisquam Regional High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Colby-Sawyer College, graduating in 1984. Tracy was employed at the Saints Memorial Hospital as a Medical Technician for over ten years. She moved to Haverhill in 1992, previously residing in Cambridge, Fitchburg, and Lowell.
She leaves her husband, Philip J. Kania, Jr.,son, Nicholas J.,and daughter, Natalie R., all of Haverhill, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jon W. and Sandra L.(Naylor) Emerson, of Holden Beach, North Carolina, a brother and sister in law, Michael J. and Debbie Emerson, of Valperaiso, Florida, father in law, Mr. Philip J. Kania, Sr., of Easthampton, MA, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Ottaviani was a homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her occupation was attention to family. She loved animals, especially cats. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Nierodzinski was born and educated in Westmore, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late, Ellis J. and Velma (Buck) Bullis and lived here most of her life. She worked at the former Glynn Memorial Nursing Home in Haverhill as a resident’s aid.
The widow of Stanley J. Nierodzinski who died in 1983, she leaves a son, Daniel P. Nierodzinski, of Texas, two daughters, Paula A. Barajas, with whom she lived, and Dianne C. Cole, of Salem, NH, fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. HAVERHILL, MA - Alfred “Al” Joseph Perry, Jr., 52, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington after a brief illness.
Mr. Perry was born in Haverhill, the son of the Late Alfred J. Sr. and Dorothy L. (Gilbert) Perry and lived here most of his life. Al was a 1971 graduate of Haverhill Trade School, where he learned his skills in the printing trade. He owned and operated Perry’s Printing business in Haverhill for twenty-five years. He loved to cook, and for a time he owned Perry’s Pizza , also in Haverhill. He leaves a son Alfred J. Perry, III, a beloved companion of many years, Gladys Delacruz, of Haverhill, a brother, Paul D. Perry, of Canoga Park, CA, three sisters, Jane N. LaValley, Celeste M. Barnard, and Dorothy A. Perry, all of Haverhill, and several nieces and nephews.

LAWRENCE, MA - Antonio Ayala, 59, of Lawrence, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the Sunbridge-Woodmill Rehab and Nursing Care after a lengthy illness.
He was born and educated in Puerto Rico, the son of Antonio and Leonides (Robles) Ayala and moved to Lawrence twenty-five years ago. He was employed as a driver and mechanic for a livery business. He leaves a son, Antonio Ayala, and two daughters, Maria and Alma Ayala, a brother, Francesco, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, at 10:00 AM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, 170 May St. Lawrence.

W. Everett Ealy, 93
NEWBURYPORT, MA - W. Everett Ealy, 93, of Newburyport, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Anna Jaques Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born and educated in Newburyport, the son of the late James E. and Ina N. (Eaton) Ealy and lived here all of his life. Mr. Ealy was employed as a foreman at United Shoe Co. in Beverly for over thirty years until his retirement in 1983.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army. He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon and American Theater Campaign Ribbon. His memberships included the, V.F.W. Lorraine Post 29, and Amvets Post 147, both in Haverhill, and the North End Boat Club, in Newburyport.
He leaves his loving family, daughter, Billie-Jo Tivnan, with whom he lived, a son David Gagnon, both of Newburyport, stepchildren and their spouses, Linda Danlickie and Robbie, and Raymond Wright, all of Georgetown, Roberta Abrams and Jeff, of Rochester, NH, Paula Langlois, Joseph Gagnon, and Lisa Kitchen and Jamie, all of Haverhill, and Donna Anisko, of Methuen, grandchildren, Patrick Walsh, Felicea and Natasha Scott, Janelle Dovey, Haley and Madison Gagnon, and Damian Morales. Twelve step grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
