LECANTO — Frances Eileen Gochnour, 83, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001.
A native of Canton, Ohio, she moved here from Detroit in 1996.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Clarence H. Gochnour, Lecanto; and foster daughter, Suzanne Crihfield, Kenna, W.Va.

Bryant Helmer, 76
OCALA — Bryant Helmer, 76, a businessman, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at home.
A native of Darling, Miss., he moved here from Orlando. Mr. Helmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jane Helmer, Ocala; daughter, Colleen Helmer, Ocala; son, Steve Helmer, DeLand; sister, Virginia Grubbs, Clermont; and three grandchildren.

Hazel P. Murphy, 79
OCALA — Hazel P. Murphy, 79, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001.
A native of Clay County, Ill., she moved here from Belleville, Ill., in 1992. Mrs. Murphy was a member of First Nazarene of Ocala.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Murphy, Ocala; sons, Jerry R. Murphy, Terry D. Murphy and Daniel E. Murphy, all of Ocala; daughters, Sandra R. Gleuck, Belleville, and Debra A. Murphy, Ocala; brothers, Clinton Matlock and Charles Matlock, both of Edgewood, Ill.; sisters, Bertie Schore, Centralia, Ill., and Thelma Weaver, Edgewood; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Sherman J. Starkie, 85
OCALA — Sherman J. Starkie, 85, a dental-supply salesman, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Corona, N.Y., he moved to Ocala in 1992 from Cranbury, N.J. Mr. Starkie was a member of the Mizpah Masonic Lodge F&AM and Ocala West Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Starkie, Ocala; son, Don S. Starkie, Boynton Beach; daughters, Betty J. Bowen, Hernando, Judithlee Schulz, Lithonia, Ga., and Nancy A. Worfolk, Scottsdale, Ariz.; brothers, Dewitt Starkie, Broad Run, Va., and Richard R. Starkie, Ocala; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gladys E. Baldwin, 84
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — Gladys E. Baldwin, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at her home.
A native of Marion, Mich., she was a former resident of Ocala. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of American Legion Post No. 57 and Williams First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Baldwin.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Martin and Rosalyn Piehl, both of Jacksonville; sons, Richard M. Baldwin, Ocala, and Jonathan J. Baldwin, Lehigh; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Leon D. Barnes, 102
LECANTO — Leon D. Barnes, 102, an engineer for Anaconda Wire and Cable, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Brentwood Health Center.
A native of Boca Raton, he moved here more than four years ago from New Britain, Conn. Mr. Barnes was a scout master and an air raid warden for Civil Defense. He was a member of Boca Raton Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Tinka B. Gardner, Crystal River; brother, Wilmer T. Barnes, Elsworth, Maine; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Alan T. Carson, 73
OCALA — Alan Thomas "Tom" Carson, 73, a retired master electrician, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Estelle Hospice House.
A native of Muskegon, Mich., he moved to Ocala in 1968 from Jacksonville. Mr. Carson served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Mason and a member of VFW Post No. 10208, the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Carson, Ocala; daughter, Lori Wilkinson, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; brothers, Robert Carson, Silver Springs, Eugene Carson, Hemlock, Mich., and Harold Meire, Midland, Mich.; and sister, May Yarborough, Ocklawaha.

Margaret Cassinelli, 92
OCALA — Margaret Cassinelli, 92, a homemaker, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Bethlehem, Pa., she moved to Ocala 29 years ago from Englewood Cliffs, N.J. Mrs. Cassinelli was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 4493 and a founding member of the Silver Springs Shores Swingers Club. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Candler.
Survivors include her sons, Harry Cassinelli Jr., Fort Lee, N.J., and Edward Cassinelli, Kitty Hawk, N.C.; daughter, Anne Marie McLaughlin, Gainesville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Wilmer K. Deckard, 91
OCALA — Wilmer K. Deckard, 91, a retired Secret Service agent, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at his home.
A native of Middletown, Pa., he moved to Ocala in 1992 from Palm Beach Gardens. Mr. Deckard was a special agent in the United States Secret Service for 35 years. He was a member of the Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline H. Deckard, Ocala; daughter, Pamela Hallenburg, Sandy, Utah.; sons, Jeffery P. Deckard, Sitka, Alaska, and Cliff P. Deckard, Oakton, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Charles F. Haegele, 82
SUMMERFIELD — Charles F. Haegele, 82, a retired chemical operator, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Philadelphia, he moved to Summerfield 27 years ago from Burlington, N.J. Mr. Haegele worked for Rohm and Hass of Bristol, Pa., for 33 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Ann Ciemnolonski, Burlington; sons, Charles H. Haegele and Robert J. Haegele, both of Summerfield; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Lillian H. Michaluk, 83
SILVER SPRINGS — Lillian Hannah Michaluk, 83, a retired factory worker, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001.
A native of Greensboro, N.C., she moved to Silver Springs in 1970 from Monaca, Pa. Mrs. Michaluk was Protestant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Michaluk.
Survivors include her sister, Lena Davis, Ocala.

SUMMERFIELD — Mildred L. Miller, 78, a secretary, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Troy, Ohio, she moved to Summerfield from Ohio in 1986. Mrs. Miller was a member of Village View Community Church in Summerfield,
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth E. Miller, Summerfield; sons, Gary L. Miller, Bell Center, Ohio, and Brian J. Miller, Lake View, Ohio; daughter, Sue Wise, Elyria, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Sylvan E. Ostroff, 68
OCALA — Sylvan Earl Ostroff, 68, a retired architect, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at his home. A native of Los Angeles, he moved to Ocala in 1979. Mr. Ostroff was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his stepsons, John Oakes, Ocala, and James Oakes, Jacksonville; stepdaughter, Mary A. Cooke, Ocala; eight step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Donald F. Smith, 70
OCALA — Donald Francis Smith, 70, a head locksmith, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001.
A native of Butler, N.J., he moved to Ocala 15 years ago. Mr. Smith worked 29 years for the U.S. Army Armament Research and Development Command. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Grace Smith, Ocala; daughters, Gwendolyn Bills, Warwick, N.Y., Gladys Stefany, Milford, Pa., and Kathleen Imparato, Wantage, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A native of Saginaw, Mich., he moved to Fort McCoy 20 years ago from Howell, Mich. Mr. Bostwick was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW and Eagles Aerie.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Bostwick, Fort McCoy; sons, Jack Bostwick, Fort McCoy, Larry Bostwick and Sandy Bostwick, both of St. Clair Shores, Mich., and Wayne Bostwick, Novi, Mich.; brothers, Jerry Bostwick, South Lyons, Mich., and Jim Bostwick, South Lyons, Mich.; sisters, Nadine Cole, Westland, Mich., and Irdine Ross, Livonia, Mich; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Chadwick, Ocala; daughters, Barbara Chadwick, Deerfield Beach, and Karen Martin, Lakewood, N.J., and son Robert V. Chadwick Jr., Ocala.

OCALA — Heather Marie Hutchinson, 21, a waitress at the Olive Garden in Ocala, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001.
Miss Hutchinson was a lifetime resident of Ocala.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Pam and Britt Keel, Ocala; father and stepmother, William and Ellen Hutchinson, Ocala; brothers, Brian Hutchinson and Thomas Conerty, Ocala; maternal grandmother, Louise Padgett, Ocala; and paternal grandmother, Elaine Hutchinson, Ocala.

OCALA — Lois J. Kuchman, 91, a piano instructor, died at Ocala Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001.
A native of Pittsford, N.Y., she moved to Ocala from Rochester, N.Y., in 1982. Mrs. Kuchman was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Jensen, Ocala; brother, Robert Stiehler, Ocala; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kuchman, and her son, Robert Kuchman.

Allan Ralph Liscom, 84
OCALA — Allan Ralph Liscom, 84, a retired warehouse employee with Chrysler Corp., died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Port Huron, Mich., he moved to Ocala 19 years ago. Mr. Liscom was a World War II veteran, and a member of the Rainbow Lakes Estates Bridge Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Port Huron, Mich., and the American Legion Post No. 58 in Dunnellon. He was a founding member of the Kimball Township Volunteer Fire Department in Michigan.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan Frey and Rebecca Jackson, both of Smith Creek, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two wives: Norma Buckindail Liscom in 1971 and Margaret Cottrell Liscom in 2000.

OCALA — Ralph Mathis, 81, a retired waiter, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001 at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Mathis came to Ocala from Tampa 40 years ago. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Valerie Mitchell, Ocala; stepsons, Michael Samuel, DeLand, and Jimmie Jennings, Gainesville; and sisters, Maria Williams, Baltimore, Md., and Mamie Lee, Orlando.
