OCALA — Bernice M. Thomas, 71, a retired Marion County school cafeteria worker, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alapha, Ga., she moved here from Georgia 48 years ago. Mrs. Thomas was a member of First Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 29.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Horton, Ocklawaha; daughter, Bobbie Sue Woodard, Ocala; sons, Robert D. Thomas, Ocala, and Stephen F. Thomas, Macon, Ga.; sisters, Nora L. Thomas, Warner Robbins, Ga., Lilly Rousey, Tifton, Ga., Ann Smith, Ray City, Ga., Velma Fail and Martha Cook, both of Ocklawaha, and Hazelene Reaene, Glinda Winfrey and Lola Scaggs, all of Ocala; brothers, Preston Driskell, Ocklawaha, Howard "Buddy" Horton, Weirsdale, Herman Horton, Lorida, and Alfred Horton, Ocala; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Thomas, who died on April 16, 1999.

OCALA — Rebecca Jean Winans, 38, a clerk, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001.
A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., she moved here from Salisbury, N.C., in 1999. Mrs. Winans was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her father, Thomas Winans, Angola, Ind.; mother, Sandy Mollberg, Ocala; brother, Mark A. Winans, Germantown, Md.; sister, Sheli Taulbee, Fort Wayne; and grandparents, Noble and Althea Bell, Dunnellon.

Survivors include her son Richard Bremen, Barstow, Calif.; daughters, Carol Bremen, Ocala, and Marilyn Allen, Dunnellon; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

SPARR — Lois LaHatte Criner, 93, a retired U.S. government clerk for mail and records, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Vicksburg, Miss., she moved here one month ago from Mississippi. She was a member of the Crawford Street United Methodist Church in Vicksburg.
Survivors include her daughter, Joy Criner Pilcher, Sparr; son, Carl T. Criner Jr., Baton Rouge, La.; sister, Joy L. Campbell, El Cerrito, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl T. Criner Sr.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas J. Hamm, Bristol, Jerry C. Hamm, Jacksonville, and Dennis M. Hamm, Gainesville; daughters, Margaret Endress and Anna J. Abrams, both of Dunnellon, Yulee G. A native of Montserrat, West Indies, he moved here 15 years ago from Brooklyn, N.Y.
Survivors include his daughters, Gertrude Osborne, Cynthia Osborne and Althea Osborne, all of New York, Victorleen Osborne and Josephine Osborne, both of Miami; sons, Winston Osborne, Trinidad, James Osborne, Miami, Joseph Osborne, Orlando, and Earl Osborne, William Osborne and Ruben Osborne, all of New York; sisters, Emily Wade, Montserrat, and Priscilla Daily, New York; brother, Jim Osborne, Montserrat; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Roberta M. Schwartz, 85
DUNNELLON — Roberta Margaret Schwartz, 85, a homemaker, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 in Tampa.
A native of Cheltenham, Pa., she moved here from Miami 31 years ago. She was a member of the Rainbow Springs Village Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia M. Ford-Besselieu; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jane R. Kirkwood Willis, Crystal River; daughters, Sandra J. Camp, West Lake, Mich., Judith A Muntz, Penn., and Shirley L. Heintz, Gobles, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD — Roger Rainville, 70, a retired sheet metal worker, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001.
Born in Woonsocket, R.I., Mr. Rainville moved to Summerfield from Old Greenwich, Conn., in 1996. A Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Belleview Post 8083, and Creekers Golf Association of Spruce Creek.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Loucks, Summerfield; son, Roger Rainville, Bayonne, N.J.; daughter, Susan Rainville, Dover, Pa.; sister, Pauline Anderson, Garwood, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah R. Wells, Orlando; sons, David R. Allen, Inverness, W.C. Allen and Robert B. Allen, both of Salisbury, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Allen, on Feb. 20, 1996.
