Peter D. Watson, a 10-year area resident and special education teacher at the Liberty Campus of BOCES, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 3, 2003. He was 43.
The son of Raymond and Lenore Beltzer Watson, he was born on June 26, 1959 in Mount Vernon, NY.
He was a member of the White Lake REformed Presbyterian Church; he was a Special Olympics Power Lifting Coach for Sullivan County area and an amateur herpatologist, lecturing various schools in reptile aminal studies; was a classroom innovator in reptile management and snake care using a hand's on method in classroom studies.
A family statement reads, "He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him, especially his mother and children whom he adored."
A BOCES administrator stated that Peter Watson was one of the finest educators who ever worked in theBOCES program and a role model for the students to follow. He received his BA from Concordia College in Bronxville in Elementary Education; his MS from Lehman College in the Bronx in Learning Disabilities.
Survivors include his mother, Lenore B. Watson of Mount Vernon, NY; two daughters, Christa Watson and Daniella Watson, both of Bloomingburg; a stepsister, Carol Ray of West Babylin; a special uncle, Dr. Lee Beltzer of Brooklyn; several aunts, uncles and devoted cousins, and his friend, Gail Bush of Liberty.
Friends may call at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. MainSt., Liberty, on Friday, June 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at the White Lake Reformed Presbyterian Church, Route 17B and Matson Road, White Lake, NY.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

Edward L. Sarro
Port Jervis, NY
Mr. Edward L. Sarro of Port Jervis, NY, a steamfitter with Local No. 373, Newburgh, and lifetime resident of Port Jevis, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 54.
He was born on June 2, 1949 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of Katherine Kane Sarro and the late Thomas P. Sarro. He enjoyed working for the Italian and Irish communities.
A family statement read: "Ed enjoyed life and people and loved the outdoors."
Survivors include his mother, Katherine Sarro of Port Jervis, NY; brothers James M. "Jay" Sarro of Port Jervis, NY and Thomas W. Sarro of Huguenot, NY; a sister, Victoria K. Singer and her husband, Robert, of Norwood, NJ; niece Candace Sarro; nephews Andrew Sarro and Jeremy Singer; also aunts, unclues and cousins.

Sita Davi Koletar
San Diego, CA
Sita Davi Koletar, a resident of San Diego, CA and a payroll supervisor for Birmingham Press in San Diego, died on Thursday, July 31, 2003 in Kauneonga Lake, NY as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was 25.
The daughter of Philip and Patricia Carrozza Gallelli, she was born on September 28, 1977 in New York City.
Survivors include her mother, Pat Carrozza of San Diego, CA; her father, Philip Gallelli and wife, Lory, of San Diego; a daughter, Ras Lila Koletar, 8, and a son, Chaitin Daniel Koletar, 11 months, both of San Diego; four sistersn, Pryya Gallelli, Sunita Gallelli, Janaki Gallelli, Daniella S. Holliday and her husband, Kevin, all of San Diego and two brothers, Julien Strampello and his wife, Melody, and Arjuna Galleli, all of San Diego.
A family statement reads, "Sita and her husband, David, radiated love and happiness. They were the embodiment of true lovel Always in the service Krsna."
A second memorial service will be held in San Diego at a future date.
Cremation was held at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for their children, Rasa and Chaitin. Contributions may be sent to Mrs. July Langenfeld, 4 Treasure Lake Rd., Rock Hill, NY 12775.

Daniel Koletar
San Diego, CA
Daniel Koletar, a resident of San Diego, CA and a custom spa builder for Ultra Bath in Escondido, CA, died on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was 26.
The son of John and Judith Agrella Koletar, he was born on November 26, 1976 in Monticello, NY.
He was the husband of Sita Davi Koletar, who died with him.
Survivors include his mother, Judith Langenfeld and her husband, Edward, of Rock Hill; a daughtger, Rasa Lila Koletar, 8, and a son, Chatin Daniel Koletar, 11 months, both of San Diego, CA; three brothers, Brian Mieczkowski of Wrwick, Shane Miechzkowski of Rock Hill and John Reeves of Mongaup Valley.
He was predeceased by his father, John Koletar, who died on July 24, 2003.
A family statement reads, "Daniel and his wife, Sita, radiated love and hapiness. They were the embodiment of true love. Always in service of Krsna."
A unified memorial service will be held for both Daniel and Sita on Tuesday, August 2, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John Street, Monticello.
A second memorial service will be held in San Diego, CA at a future ate.
Cremation was held at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

Port Jervis, NY
Mrs. Marion L. Force of Port Jervis, NY, a retired registered nurse at Doctor's Sunnyside Hospital, and lifetime resident of the area, died Friday, August 1, 2003 at St. Joseph' s Place, Port Jervis. She was 91.
She was born September 26, 1911 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph P. and the late Alice Carlow Worzel.
She was married erly in life to Leonard S. Powers, who predeceased her and later to Wilbur J. Force, who also predeceased her.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a former longtime member of the West End Reformed Church of Port Jervis.
She graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1929 and the Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, in 1932, as a registered nurse.
Survivors are two daughters, Lois Decker and her husband, William, of Montague, NJ and Alice Jessen and her husband, Rev. Charles, of Waynesboro, PA; a sister, Winifred aumick of Port Jervis, NY; five grandchildren, Jo-Ellen Leeper and her husband, Randy; David Decker and his wife, Laurie, Mark Jessen and his wife, Lauren, Stephen Jessen and his wife, Julie, Joel Jessen and his wife, Kim; 12 great grndchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Miss Jackie MArie Mann of Huguenot, NY, a 6th grade student at Bicentennial School, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. She was 11.
She was born October 20, 1991 in Warwick, NY.
Jackie Marie was in the chorus at her school and in the Port Jervis DARE Program. She wanted to become a cheerleader and learn to play the guitar.
Surviving are her parents, Tammy Mann and William Matthews, Jr., of Hugenot, NY; step father Glen Travis of Huegenot, NY; three brothers, Zachary Matthews of Huguenot, NY, DereckTravis of Huguenot, NY, and WilliamMatthews III of Monroe, NY; four sisters, Heather Matthews of Huguenot, NY, Brittany Carminati of Chester, NY, Ashley Matthews of Monroe, NY and Katylin Matthews of Monroe, NY; great grandfather Christopher Mann of Monticello, NY; grandparents David and Kathleen Youmans Mann of Cuddebackville, NY nd William and Katherine Cline Matthews of Monroe, NY; aunts and unclues Christina Mann, Christopher Mann, Ralph Mann, David and Kelly Mann, Amanda and Frank Conklin, Terry and Mike Kirkland, Paula and Larry Lewis, Cindy and Bob Lyboldt, and Betty and Dusty Mann.

Daniel J. Leo
Newburgh, NY
Daniel J. Leo of Newburgh, the retired president of Daniel J. Leo Insurance, Inc., died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was 89.
The son of the late William and Constance Maffia Leo, he was born on April 13, 1914 in Willingford, Conn.
Dan Leo began his business career at the age of 13 by purchasing in 1916 a paper route of the Newburgh News. He kept his route until graduation from high school. A resident of the City of Newburgh since 1919, he graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1932, and for the next 32 years worked for S. Strook and Company, Inc. textile manufacturers until 1962 when he retired as plant manager and director of the corporation. During his years at Strook, Dan saw the advent of Social Security and the reduction of the normal work week from 54 hours to 40. In 1964, Dan entered his second career as ownerof Danial J. Leo, Inc., an insurance agency, and retired from this career in 1993.
His community involvement throughout the last 69 years is extensive. As a young man he was Scout Master of Troop 4 from 1935 to 1945. He had served on the boards of the YMCA of Newburgh since 1955, was president of the board of directors from 1964 to 1979, and served as president of the board of trustees at the time of his death. From 1973 to 1977, Dan was a member of the National Board of the YMCA.
In 1954 Dan joined the Newburgh Lions Club, was president in 1970 and 1971, and district governor in 1978 and 1979. Dan remained an active member of the Lions until the time of his death. When the Orange County Water Authority was formed in 1988, Dan was elected a director, and served as vice chairman at the time of his death. Also in 1988, Dan joined the board of directors of the Orange County Partnership, received its first MVP (Most Valued Partner) award in 1992, and was active as director emeritus at the time of his death. Since 1972 Dan had also served on the board of the Orange County Industrial Development Agency, and served as its chairman at the time of his death.
Other organizations in which Mr. Leo has been involved as director include the National Temple Hill Association, Historic Newburgh (receiving its first citizen award), and the Newburgh Chamber of Commerce. He had assisted St. Luke's Hospital, Occupations, Inc., the Educational Foundation of Orange County Community College, and McQuade Foundation, with fundraising efforts.
Mr. Leo was predeceased by his wife, Norma Taylor, who died on January 6, 1996. He was also predeceased by his son, David Leo, who died on September 5, 2000; his brother, Paul Leo, who also died on September 5, 200; and his sister, Teresa Silvestri, who died on February 22, 1999.
He is survived by his daughters, Patti Hoeltschi of Newburgh, Nancy Kenny of Clifton Park; brothers Phillips Leo of New York City, Charles Leo of Newburgh; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, August 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the White and Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Road, Town of Newburgh. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Jack Hyatt of Saturday, August 2 at 2:30 p.m. at Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, 54 Old Little Britain Road, Newburgh.
Cremation will follow in Cedar Hill Crematory.

Edward Joseph
Rhinebeck, NY
Edward Joseph, former Saugerties resident, died Monday, July 21, 2003 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He was 84 years old.
He was born April 21, 1919 in New York City, the son of Lillian and Andrew Joseph. His wife, Mary Joseph, died January 22, 2000.
Until his retirement,he worked as an electrical tester in New York City.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Catherine Malloy of Saugerties, Danny Malloy of Catskill and Michelle Ramirez of Long Islan; a sister, Irene Peters of New Hyde Park, NY. In addition to his wife, he was pre-deceased by his daughter, Catherine Chaffee.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY. Friends may call Sunay, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Julia Terrebetzky of Glen Spey, NY died Tueaday, July 22 at home with her family by her side. She was 78.
She was born July 12, 1925 in Ukraine, the daughter of the late Wasyl and the late Anna Chrobatenko.
She was a member of St. Volodymyr's Ukranian Catholic Church, Glen Spey, NY.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mike Terrebetzky, at home; daughter Lisa Drapak and her husband, Andrew, of Belle Mead, NJ; daugher Ann Grodzickyj and her husband, Nick, of South Brunswick, NJ; brother Ostapko Chrobatenko of Ukraine; granddaughter Lydia Gusmerotti and husband, Dan, of Lumberton, NJ; grandson Nick Grodzickyj of Boston, MA; grandson Christopher Grodzickyj of South Brunswick, NJ; grandson Andrew Drapak of Belle Mead, NJ; grandson Michael Drapak of Belle Mead, NJ and great grandson Matthew Gusmerotti.

Mr. Carmelo Garcia of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, a retired printing shop owner, died Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He ws 68.
He was born July 16, 1935 in Puerto Rico, the son of the late Juan and the late Clotilde Garcia Carcia.
Surviving are his wife, Maria Orlandi of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; daughter, Livia Vazquez Orlandi of Puerto Rico; four sisters, Amparo Garcia of Jersey City, NJ, Felicita Garcia of Jersey City, NJ, Emilia Garcia of Michigan and Joquin Garcia ofpuero Rico; two sisters-in-law, Jilda Nery of Westbrookville, NY and Lydda Orlandi of Westbrookville, NY., as well as two grndchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Puerto Rico at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Centerior Porta Caeli, Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Jeffrey A. Kays

Mr. Jefrey A. Kays of PortJervis, NY, a stock clerk at Weis Markets, NEwton, NJ and eight year resident of the area, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 33.
He was born June 29, 1970 in Newton, NJ, the son of Walter J.and Barbara J. Crowell Kays.
Survivors ae is father and mother, Walter J.and Barbara J. Kays,both at home; two brothers, Kenneth J. Kays of Port Jervis, NY and Walkter J. Kays, Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Sparta, NJ; two sisters, Cindy A. Turse and her husband, Keith, Port Jervis, NY, and Tracy E. Doyle and her husband, Donald, of Unionville, NY; also nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematoruy, Newburgh, NY.

Joseph John Sochor
Rhinebeck, NY
Rhinebeck – Joseph John Sochor, 80, a former Staatsburg and Endicott resident, passed away, Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Baptist Home.
Mr. Sochor was a manger for IBM in Endicott and Poughkeepsie for 35 years. Following his retirement he purchased a motor home and pursued his love of traveling around the United States.
He served in the US Army during WW II.
Born November 17, 1923 in Endicott he was the son of John and Mary (Mikus) Sochor.
Mr. Sochor is survived by a daughter Sharon Ifill of Staatsburg, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, 6 brothers and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Gary Joseph Sochor in 1989.
Calling hours are Monday 1:30 to 2 at the Baptist Nursing Home, Chapel. Funeral services are 2 PM, Monday, in the Chapel. Rev. Thomas Hartley of the Clinton Alliance Church will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.

Charlotte Steenrod
Liberty, NY
Charlotte B. Steenrod, a lifelong Sullivan County resident, passed away on Thursday July 29, 2004 at the Terisian House Nursing Home in Albany, NY. She was 83.
The daughter of Joseph G. and Freida Wahl Beiling, she was born on January 11, 1921 in Callicoon, NY.
Charlotte was the former owner of Charlotte’s Beauty Salon in Jeffersonville. She was a member, choir member and former Deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Liberty; a 47 year member of Lincoln Chapter #463 O.E.S. of Jeffersonville; a member of Sullivan County Home Extension Service and she was a volunteer at Community General Hospital.
She is survived by a son, Dale R. Steenrod of Albany; a daughter, Terry S. Leahey of St. Simon’s Island, GA; a sister, Edythe B. Hyatt and her husband Donald of Jeffersonville; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceascd by her husband, C. Richard Steenrod in 1974.
Friends may call on Monday August 2, 2004 at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty from 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 1 p.m. Rev. Carol Ames will officiate.

Dillie Dove Harris

Dillie Dove Harris, a retired head housekeeper for Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in Liberty and a 50 year area resident, passed away on Thursday July 29, 2004 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 96.
The daughter of William James and Minnie Cottrell Marks, she was born on March 16, 1908 in Walton, West Virginia.
She was a member of the Liberty Free Methodist Church, Liberty, NY.
“We remember Dillie for her loving and nurturing ways. She was always concerned if you were comfortable or had enough to eat. Conversing was Dillie’s favorite pastime, which always made it hard to leave. (“Honey, do you want to spend the night.”) If there was a child in close proximity she would have to hug them whether related or not. Dillie was a hard worker all her life and loved every minute of it. We respected her for her religious views and her strong constitution. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.”
Survivors include a son, Walter Harris and his wife, Maureene of Plainfield, IN; a daughter-in-law, Susan Harris of Neversink; a brother, Floyd Marks of Florida; 2 sisters, Chessie Swiney of Charlotte, NC and Garnet Harper of Caldwell, OH; 5 grandchildren, Vicki McIntyre of Summitville, NY, Rhonda Hough of Neversink, NY, Linda Cowgill of Middletown, DE, Walter Harris Jr. of Danville, IN and Rachel Mednikoff of Cranbury, NJ; 7 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Reece McIntyre, Emily and Bronte Hough, Blair and Reid Harris and Brian Cowgill.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ora Cyrus Harris; a son, French Harris, a daughter, Thelma Marie, 4 brothers, Frank, James, Fred (Whitey) and Guy, and 2 sisters, Lessie and Mary.
