Leo Joseph Consolini, 69, of 88 Honey Hill Rd New Hartford,
a long time Torrington resident, died Saturday July 3 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Thea (Foertsch) Consolini. Born in Torrington Nov. 1, 1934 son of the late Louis and Nellie (Nardi) Consolini. He served in The US Army in Germany from 1957-1959.
He was employed as a truck driver for EJ Kelley for many years and later retired 10 years ago from Kimberly-Clark in New Milford. He was also the original proprietor of Leo's Cafe in Torrington and operated it from 1968-1978, and was the originator of 5-C's Cafe in Torrington, owning it from 1983-1988.
He was a member of The Veneta Club and The Foresters Club, and was an avid UCONN Basketball fan for the men's and women's teams, an avid Red Sox fan, and was an avid reader and history buff.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert Consolini and his wife Sharon of Torrington, and daughters Sharon Belfiore and her husband Paul of Bristol and Patricia Consolini of New Hartford, and his pride and joy, a granddaughter Rebecca Consolini. He also leaves a brother Robert Consolini of Florida and sister Julie Schibi of Colebrook. He was predeceased by brothers Louis and Donald Consolini and sisters Mary Consolini and Eleanor Romaniello and Louise Carlucci.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Maron's Church for a Mass at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday July 5 from 5 to 8 PM.

Alice Walsh, 92, of Milford CT
died June 30, 2003 at Litchfield Woods in Torrington.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday July 20 at 2 PM at The United Congregational Church in Devon CT.

Genevieve F. Baena, 80, of Butler St. Torrington
died Thursday July 10 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of the late Victor Baena. Born in Torrington Jan. 29, 1923 daughter of the late John and Janina (Kotarski) Miscikoski, she had been employed at The Torrington Company, retired from Torin Corp. and worked as a waitress at her brothers' restaurant, Tony's Drive In in Torrington. She lived in Bridgeport for 15 years, moving back to Torrington in 1992.
A communicant of St. Mary's Church, she was a member of the choir for 30 years.
She is survived by three brothers, John "Tony" Miscikoski, Alphonse Miscikoski, and James Miscikoski, all of Torrington and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 12 at 10 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Mary's Church for 10:30. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 to 10 AM.

William W. Murphy, 69, of Harwinton Ave. Torrington
died Monday July 7 at his home.
He was born in Torrington May 9, 1934 son of the late Terrence W. and Mary A. (Richardson) Murphy. A lifelong Torrington resident, he attended local schools and was retired from The Torrington Company.
He was a veteran of The US Marine Corps.
He is survived by one son, William W. Murphy III and a daughter Tracy L. Bartles both of and a brother Terrence W Murphy Jr, all of Torrington and three sisters, Maureen Pace of Summitt NJ, Rita Zeller of Harwinton, and Regina Neal of West Hartford. 3 grandsons and a granddaughter.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday July 11 at 11:00 AM at Saint Thomas Church in Goshen. Burial will be in New Saint Francis Cemetery.

Therese Jeanne (Labbe) Kiraly Theophilos, 75, formerly of 247 Torringford East St Torrington
died Sunday Nov 2 at Haven Health Center in Torrington after a long illness. She was the wife of the late C. George Theophilos who died July 12, 1992. She was born Aug. 8, 1928 in Torrington daughter of the late Emile J. and Jeanne A. (Deranleau) Labbe.
She was a graduate of Torrington High Class of 1947 and attended St Francis School of Nursing in Hartford. She worked at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Hayden Manufacturing prior to having her family. Prior to retiring in 1979 she was employed by Rose Haven Ltd in Litchfield doing one of her favorite things, cooking. She was an active volunteer for many groups including FISH, Inc., and was a communicant of Saint Francis Church and also Immaculate Heart Church in Harwinton. Before her husband's death and her illness, she loved fishing, gardening, and camping.
She is survived by her son, Christopher E. Kiraly of West Palm Beach FL and her daughter, Marla Kiraly Kulczyk and her husband David of Torrington. She also leaves two grandchildren Jeremy Beecher and Sarah Hancock of Torrington and a great grandson Noah Hancock.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Nov 8 at 10 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Francis Church for a Mass at 10:30. Burial will follow at New St. Francis Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial Contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.

William M. Chase Sr. 58, of 118 Beechwood Ave. Torrington
died Saturday Nov 15 at Rose Haven LTD in Litchfield. He was the husband of the late Georgia (Stewart) Chase. Born in Kent Oct. 2, 1945 son of the late Stanley B. and Martha (Glass) Chase, he was raised in Kent prior to moving to Torrington. He worked for Amtrak for 28 years as a Track Foreman. He receive an award for completion for the ACELA (Bullet Train) track line from Boston to New York.
He was an avid pool player and a member of The Amateur Pool Players Assoc. He also played 9-5 card games and tournaments. He was a member of The Sokol Club and The Veneta Society.
He is survived by two sons, William M Chase and Michael Chase of Torrington and two daughters, Jennifer Stevich of Norwich and Melissa Chase of Torrington. He also leaves three sisters, Linda Marks-Scappini of Torrington, Patricia Johnson of Celina Tx, and Priscilla Rumble of Phoenix AZ, and a brother Wheaton Chase and sister in law Rebecca Chase of Vandemere NC, 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Nov 22 at 1 PM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington.

Michael Malanca, 50 of Billerica MA
died Saturday Nov 8 at The Lahey Clinic in Mass.
He was the husband of Elena (Isaeza) Malanca. Born in Torrington, Nov 3, 1953 son of Amerigo and Mary (Kufchak) Malanca of Torrington, he was a graduate of Torrington High Class of 1971 and also The Worcester Poly Tech. He was employed as a head engineer in telecommunications. He was an accomplished musician and rifleman.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son Andrew Malanca and a daughter Samantha Voit of Greenville NH and a step daughter Lorisa Isaeza. He also leaves a grandson.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Nov 12 at 10:30 at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Julius O. Gemelli, 89, of 37 Wolcott Ave Torrington
died Wednesday Nov 5 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital as a result of ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease) He was the husband of 66 years of Florence (Turina) Gemelli. Born in Ashley Falls MA Nov. 4, 1914 son of the late Julio and Ester (Salice) Gemelli. His family moved to Torrington in 1915 and where he lived all of his life. A prominent member of the athletic community, he played baseball, basketball, and football at Torrington High School and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He continued playing ball for a variety of local semi-professional teams. He was active in The Torrington Little League, coaching for 25 years. Following his retirement from Allied Grocers after 37 years, Julius took up golf and became an active member of The Retiree's Golf League at Eastwood Country Club. He served as league commissioner for a number of years. He was also an accomplished pool player and duckpin bowler.
He loved poetry, and often wrote poems for special events and for his friends.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Maj. Glenn Gemelli USAF retired, of McCall Idaho, Wayne Gemelli of New Hartford, and Neal Gemelli of Torrington and a daughters Dale Farnhman of Pomfret CT. He also leaves a sister Enes Warmington of Stafford Springs, and 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Nov 8 at 10:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to First United Methodist Church for a service at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-9 PM.

Paul J. Jacquemin, 44, of Glenncliff NH, a former Torrington resident
died Friday Jan 9 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Massachusetts. He was born in Torrington Nov 22, 1959 son of Anthony and Ruth (Heacox) Tedesco of Torrington. He was a graduate of Torrington High Class of 1977 and he received his Eagle Scout Award in 1976, and was an avid camper and fisherman. He was employed as a school director in New Hampshire.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a son PFC Douglas Jacquemin US Marines stationed in Jacksonville NC, and a sister Ruthann Tedesco of Camden NY, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Shirley T. Geiger, 86, a longtime Torrington resident
died Friday, Jan 9th at her home. She was the widow of Robert "Bucky" Geiger.
Mrs. Geiger was born March 11, 1917 at West Avon, CT,daughter of the late Russell B. and Mabel G. (Thorpe) Thompson, she graduated from Farmington High School in 1936. She worked at Southern New England Telephone Company for 12 years prior to her retirement. She was an avid quilt maker, hiker, and water skier at her Tyler Lake cottage in Goshen, and a 50 year member of Center Congregational Church in Torrington.
She leaves three sons; Robert J. Geiger, Jr. of Goshen, David W.Geiger of Litchfield, Bruce T.Geiger of Tuscon, AZ; a daughter, Deborah L.Benjamin of Burlington, CT; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Center Congregational Church in Torrington, Thursday, Jan. 15,2004 at 10AM. Arrangements by Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington. There are no calling hours. Burial in Hillside Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

Agnes Carey Hyres, 89, of West Morris Rd Bantam
died Sunday Jan.4, 2004 at her home. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Hyres Sr.
One of 10 children, she was born in Torrington May 29, 1914 daughter of the late John and Margaret (Hayes) Carey. She attended Torrington schools and was a graduate of Saint Francis School.
She was employed by Lilac Hedges in Litchfield and also had retired from UOP Aerospace in Bantam in 1979. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald Hyres and his wife Stephany of Litchfield and Charles Hyres Jr and his wife Ann Marie of Torrington, and a daughter Marilyn Hyres Mayhew and her husband Jerry of Chesapeake, VA., 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Jan 7 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. Friends may call at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington on Tuesday Evening from 6 to 8.

Alice Durstin, 83, of 270 High St Torrington
died Thursday Aug 8 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late George C Durstin who died in 1997. Born in Torrington Nov 11, 1918, she was a life long Torrington resident.
She is survived by her son, George Durstin of New Hartford, and two daughters Nancy Durstin of Avon and Deborah Keefe of Simsbury and a granddaughter Sarah Keefe. She also leaves her brother Nicholas Szeszkowski of Coral Gables FL, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday Aug 12 at 11 AM at The Chapel at Hillside Cemetery with Rev Lawrence Michael of Saint Maron's Church Officiating. Friends may call at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30.

Russell H. Wheeler, Sr. 55, of 238 Cathole Rd Litchfield
died Sunday Aug 4 at his home.
Born in Torrington Dec 10, 1946 son of Doris (Melius) Silvernail of Florida and the late Harry Wheeler, he was a graduate of Torrington High School Class of 1965. He served two terms of duty in The US Navy during Vietnam.
He was employed as an equipment operator for Local Union 478. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horticulture.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son Russell H Wheeler Jr. and a daughter Tracy E. Wheeler of Litchfield, a sister Nancy Read of Florida, and two brothers, Thomas Wheeler of Baltimore MD and Richard Wheeler of Torrington, his former wife Donna Wheeler of Litchfield, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Private Funeral Services are at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Phalen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jean A. (Waltos) Arcoma, 72, of 405 Allen Rd
beloved wife of Bruno R. Arcoma, died peacefully Sunday Aug 4 surrounded by her loving family. Born March 10, 1930 daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Bloom) Waltos, she was a lifetime Torrington resident.
She was employed by Brooks Bank and retired in 1986 from Bank of Boston. She was a devoted member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church. She will be remembered by her family as a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. Jean especially appreciated her numerous friends with whom she shared many happy times.
In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in -law. Peter and Jeannie Arcoma of Bethany, and her daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Sally and Anthony Ardolino of West Hartford, and her grandchildren, Peter, Melissa, and Joseph Arcoma, and Michael and Eric Ardolino.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church for a Service at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.

Susan Witko, 90, of 156 Berry St Torrington
died Sunday Sept. 22. She was the wife of the late John S. Witko. Born in Torrington May 1, 1912 daughter of the late John and Susan (Kitz) Hudach, she was employed for several years at The Torrington Company.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and the Torrington senior Center.
She is survived by a son, John Witko and his wife Sandra of New Port Richey, FL, and a daughter Jane Bastasini and her husband Robert of Torrington. She also leaves three grandsons. John, Jr., Paul, and David Witko and a great grandson David Witko, several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Sept 25 at 10 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington with Rev. Ellen Tillotson Pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. Florence A Cornelio, 77, of 72 Beverly Rd Torrington
died Thursday Sept 19 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born May 8, 1925 in Winsted, daughter of the late Carmine and Mary (Petrunti ) Cornelio, she was employed in the family business Cornelio Motor Sales in Torrington for many years. She later worked for The State of Connecticut Probation Office.
She was a member of The Italian American Women's Club of Winsted which was originated by her mother.
She is survived by two brothers, Albert Cornelio of Pittsfield MA, and Louis Cornelio of Ocala FL, and a sister Lily Mangione of Providence, RI. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday Oct 5 at 10:30 at Saint Peter's Church in Torrington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Winsted. Roy D. Raydenbow, 76, of 213 Greenridge Rd. Torrington
died Tuesday Sept 17 after a year long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Shirley (Jacobs ) Raydenbow. Born in Winsted Jan. 4, 1926 son of the late Ralph and Mildred Raydenbow, he was a farmer on his grandfather's farm until serving in the US Army during WWII. He served in Japan in The 97th Anti-Tank Division of the 386th Regiment. After the Service he was employed as a truck driver in the Logging Industry. He later worked for Central Lumber Co. and he retired from The Torrington Company 11 years ago.
He was a member of Center Congregational Church and The Eagles Club and his hobbies included gardening and raising rabbits.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Jerry Raydenbow of Torrington and a granddaughter Crystal Jennersjo of Vernon. He also leaves a 1/2 sister Mary Brow of Winsted and a 1/2 brother Earl Smith of Florida, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Alan Raydenbow.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday Sept. 20 at 11AM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington with Rev. James Fung Pastor of Center Congregational Church Officiating. Margaret Lintner, 81, of 494 Newfield Road Torrington
died Saturday Nov 23 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the husband of Frank Lintner. Born in Torrington Feb 25, 1921, daughter of the late Paul M. and Mary (Reznicak) Nedorostek, she was a member of The Slovak Catholic Sokol. She was a long time employee of The Torrington Company in the Specialty Division.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters in law, Betty Nedorostek and Elizabeth Daner of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews.

Alfred H. (Bud ) Wright, 82, of 164 Milton Road Goshen
died Thursday Nov 21 at his home after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 57 years of Patricia (Dunne) Wright.
Mr Wright was born July 29, 1920 in Torrington son of the late Alfred and Anna (Ackerman) Wright and was a life long resident of the family home in Goshen which was built by his ancestors in 1787. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1938.
He owned and operated the family farm, Spring Valley Farm, raising a herd of registered Guernseys. In 1952 the farm was awarded a State of Connecticut Greener Pasture Award and in 1988 it was recognized by The US Department of Agriculture as a Connecticut Bicentennial Farm, being owned and operated by the same family since the signing of the Constitution of The United States.
Mr Wright held a Real Estate Brokers License and he initiated a community in Goshen known as The Lake of The Seven Farms, later to be known as Woodridge Lake.
He was a former selectman, a member of The Board of Finance, and a long time member of The Planning and Zoning Commission in the town of Goshen.
He served for many years as the Treasurer of the Modern Milk Marketing Association. In the 1960's he was appointed to serve on The Federal Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service.
One of his favorite pastimes was flying small aircraft which he started at the age of 21 and eventually received a private pilot's license. He was a proud member of Koladza's Birdmen of Great Barrington Airport in Mass.
In 2001, he was one of several individuals from Goshen who were honored with the Secretary of the State's first annual Public Service Award, given in recognition of Connecticut citizens who have worked to make their cities and towns better places to live.
Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by four sons and their wives, A. Edward Wright and his wife Sandra, Timothy D.Wright and his wife Catherine, Christopher J. Wright and his wife Mandy, all of Goshen and Peter A. Wright and his wife Joy of Hayward, CA. He also leaves two sisters Marjorie Wadhams and her husband Frederic of Goshen and Eunice A. "Chip" Wright of Daly City, CA, and 13 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister Ruth Wright Birmingham.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday Nov 23 at 9 AM at Saint Thomas of Villanova Church in Goshen. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Dr. Edward P. Dunne Scholarship Fund PO Box 425 Unionville, CT 06085-0425

John E Borowy, 48, of 171 Dutton Hill Rd. Torrington
died Tuesday Nov 19 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born in Winsted Jan 26, 1954 son of Henry and Elsie (Muckle) Borowy of Torrington.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a daughter Jessica Keith of Winsted and sisters Anne Hughes of Churchville, MD and Mary Borowy-Cardillo of Winchester, and two brothers Henry Borowy Jr of Torrington and Dennis Borowy of Hanover NH and a grandson Alex Lyman.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Nov 23 at Saint Francis Church 160 Main St. Torrington at 10:30 AM.
