DAYTONA BEACH Steven Eugene Widows Sr., 55, an employee of Volusia County Humane Society, died Monday, July 23, 2001.
A native of Noblesville, Ind., he moved to Daytona Beach in 1949. Mr. Widows served in the U.S. Army. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his sons, Eugene E. Widows, Leesburg, and Steven E. Widows Jr., Fruitland Park; daughters, Bonnie L. Hansen, Leesburg, and Yvonne Keene, Ocala; mother, Bonnie Stinnatt, Daytona Beach; and 11 grandchildren.

Betty L. Woodruff, 77
OCALA Betty L. Woodruff, 77, owner and operator of a hair salon, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Harborside Healthcare of Ocala.
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, she moved here from Cooper City in 1995. Mrs. Woodruff was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sister, Joann Simpson, Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford C. Woodruff.

Thomas J. Arthur, 68
OCALA Thomas J. Arthur, 68, disabled, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at New Horizon Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Arthur was a lifelong resident of Ocala. He was a member of Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia Arthur, Ocala.

Levurne C. Batts Jr., 51
DALEVILLE, Ala. Levurne Carter Batts Jr., 51, a master sergeant in the U.S. Army, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in Birmingham, Ala.
A native of Ocala, he moved to Daleville from Tampa 17 years ago. Mr. Batts was the recipient of the Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Meritorious Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Batts, Daleville; sons, Levurne Batts III, Dallas, and Derek Batts, Tulsa, Okla.; father, Levurne Batts Sr., Philadelphia; mother, Murvine Pringley, Tampa; and one grandchild.

Theodore A. Bernard Jr., 79
SPARR Theodore Anthony Bernard Jr., 79, a retired glazier, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Harborside Heathcare of Ocala.
A native of Woonsocket, R.I., he moved here from West Palm Beach in 1982. Mr. Bernard was a member of St. Joseph of the Forest Catholic Church and the Glaziers Union of California and Arizona.
Survivors include his daughters, Jacqueline Decker, Tucson, Ariz., and Jeanne Whitehouse, Yorba Linda, Calif.; sons, Donald T. Bernard, Sparr, and Theodore A. Bernard Jr., Ocklawaha; sisters, Claire Moon, Windsor, Conn., and Sister Jacqueline Claire Marie Bernard, New Hampshire; brother, Richard DuBois, Fort Lauderdale; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD Evelyn Mae Bonnett, 88, a homemaker, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Akron, Ohio, she moved here from Kimbolton, Ohio, 11 years ago. Mrs. Bonnett was a member of Oak Griner Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Richard C. Bonnett, Summerfield; sons, Thomas R. Bonnett, Lakeville, Minn., and William C. Bonnett, Sterling, Ohio; brother, Robert Radanof, Fort Lauderdale; and five grandchildren.

Dorothea H. Kearsley-Brown, 84
SUMMERFIELD Dorothea H. Kearsley-Brown, 84, a former business owner, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved here in 1970. Mrs. Brown was a member of American Association of University Woman, National Museum of Women in the Arts, National Trust for Historic Preservation and was a recipient of many blue ribbon art awards.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard R. Kearsley-Brown, Summerfield; daughter, Barbara Nelson, Lenox, Mass.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Norman T. Drummond, 87
OCALA Norman T. Drummond, 87, a retired real estate appraiser, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland, he moved here from Franklin, N.C., in 1990. Mr. Drummond was a member of Knights of Columbus, life member of Disabled American Veterans and attended Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella A. Drummond, Ocala; sons, Neal Drummond, Cary, N.C., Kevin Drummond, Milledgeville, Ga., and Paul Tait, Miami; daughters, Marsha J. Tait, Miami, Josune Drummond, Cary, and Terri Drummond, Milledgeville; and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

DUNNELLON Ruth Esther Evans, 80, a retired registered nurse, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.
A native of Dunmore, Pa., she moved here from Fort Lauderdale in 1990. Mrs. Evans was an active member and elder of Dunnellon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Dick Evans, Dunnellon; and daughter, Sandy Baldwin, Brooksville.

Anna Fariello, 90
OCALA Anna Fariello, 90, a homemaker, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at TimberRidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of New York City, she moved here from Brooklyn in 1989. Mrs. Fariello was Catholic.
Survivors include her daughter, Rena Micciola, Ocala; son, Alexander Fariello, Freehold, N.J.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Virginia Gantt, 82
OCALA Virginia Gantt, 82, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
A native of Mobile, Ala., she moved here from St. Augustine in 1951. Mrs. Gantt was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Crawford, Ocala, Terri McKendree, Dunnellon, and Pat Ballard, St. Augustine; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jervey Gantt Jr.

A native of Cass County, Ind., she moved here from Seminole in 1998. Mrs. Grauel was Protestant. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, William Grauel, Ocala; son, Earl E. Grauel, Indiana; daughter, Sandy Goodhue, Dunnellon; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rosetta Mays, 52
OCALA Rosetta Mays, 52, a food service manager for The Bridge of Ocala, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at home.
A native of Summerfield, she was a lifelong resident of Marion County. Mrs. Mays was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Mays, Ocala; daughters, Cynthia Evins, Daytona Beach, and Gayle Mobley, Ocala; stepson, Jamie Mays, Ocala; sisters, Mae H. Hagin, Summerfield, Gwendolyn Rollins, Daytona Beach, Mary Mobley, Belleview, Janette Mobley, Ocala, Frankie Mobley, Mary Poole and Carolyn Bradley, all of Wildwood; brothers, Leroy Laskey, Brooksville, Clarence Mobley, Wildwood, Jerry Mobley and Karey Mobley, both of Ocala; and five grandchildren.

Douglas H. Miller, 68
SALT SPRINGS Douglas H. "Skip" Miller, 68, a land surveyor, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
A native of Wisconsin, he moved here from West Palm Beach two years ago. Mr. Miller was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10208 in Salt Springs. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jane Miller, Salt Springs; daughter Ronelle J. Lewis, Palm Coast; sons, James D. Miller, Lantana, Michael J. Miller, Palm Beach Gardens, Steven L. Miller, Lake Worth; brother, Lee Miller, Salt Springs; and eight grandchildren.

OCALA Randolph Richards Sr., 75, a retired laborer, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Palm Garden of Ocala.
A native of Belleview, he was a lifelong resident of Marion County. Mr. Richards served in the U.S. Army. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his daughters, Margie Mills, Clearwater, Rose Williams and Sharon Richards, both of Ocala; sons, Randolph Richards Jr., Ocala, Roderick Richards, Williston, and Robert Richards, Korea; sister, Christine Richards, Summerfield; and 21 grandchildren.

Clayton Stokes, 74
HERNANDO Clayton Stokes, 74, a retired building contractor, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness.
A native of Oxford, he moved to Citrus County two years ago. Mr. Stokes was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ocala and a charter member of Main Street Baptist Church in Inverness. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his son, Clifford Stokes, Hernando; daughter, Dian England, DeBary; brothers, Edwin Stokes, Maderia Beach, and Lawrence Stokes, Elba, Ala.; sisters, Juanita Shipp, Floral City, Dolores Venero, Inverness, and Barbara A. Rodgers, Big Pine; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dean Tillman Stokes, who died on May 15, 1999.

Survivors include her husband of seven years, William Snow, Inglis; son, Joshua Snow, Inglis; parents, Paul and Linda Robb, Homosassa; sister, Jennifer Robb, Homosassa; and her grandmothers, Delores Salyers and Kay Breitigan, both of Ohio.

OCALA Charlie Wright Jr., 75, a retired merchant seaman, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Atlanta, he moved here from New York City 27 years ago. Mr. Wright was a member of New St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty B. Wright, Ocala; daughters, Shirley Bice-Bey, Tucson, Ariz., Cheyrl Khabir and Nellie Shelton, both of Atlanta; son, Chopin Berry, Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother, Wayne Wright, Atlanta; sister, Chorsie Smith, Atlanta; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

HERNANDO James F. Bentley Jr., 77, a retired seaman, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, in Inverness.
A native of Miami, he moved her from Key West 10 years ago. Mr. Bentley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Iraymotto "Mottie" N. Bentley, Hernando; son, James F. Bentley III, Jesup, Ga.; daughter, Gay M. Bentley, Weed, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

William E. Bishop, 97
OCALA William E. Bishop, 97, a retired citrus grower, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Terra Alta, W.Va., he moved here from West Virginia in 1927. Mr. Bishop was a member of Citra Methodist Church, Ocala Elks Club, Marion-Dunn Masonic Lodge No. 19 (F&AM); and served on the Florida Citrus Commission from 1940 until 1950. He was also former principal of Ocala Junior High School, from 1930 until 1940.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Winifred C. Bishop, Ocala; daughters, Carol Morris, Ormond Beach, and Barbara Powell, Winter Park; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
