Mrs. Crouch
Shirley Crouch, 76, of Milledgeville, died Monday, June 2, 2003. Memorial services were held Thursday, June 5, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Wilmot officiated.
Mrs. Crouch was a native of Lexington, Mississippi, lived in Haddock a number of years and moved to Milledgeville in January 2003. Mrs. Crouch worked at YDC for several years and was owner and operator of Creations Ceramics Shop in Haddock. She was very active in the American Lung Association and in the Breathing Buddies. Mrs. Crouch was a member of Haddock United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late June Fussell and the late Grace Lewis Fussell.
Mrs. Crouch is survived by husband, Walter D. Crouch of Milledgeville; daughters: Florella Crouch of Milledgeville, Kathryn Barwick and husband Toby of Lilburn; sons: David Crouch and wife Sue of Milledgeville, John Henry Crouch of Eatonton; sister: Cloa Franklin of Norman, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

Mr. Daniel
Billy “Sonny” Daniel, 74, or Gordon, died Saturday, June 7, 2003. Funeral was held Monday, June 9, at Gordon First Baptist Church with burial at Snow Hill cemetery. Rev. Gary Thomas officiated.
Mr. Daniel, son of the late David C. and Mae Minton Daniel, was a native of Laurens County but had made his home in Gordon most of his life. He was a retired maintenance person with Central State Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post #7509 and Gordon First Baptist Church.
Mr. Daniel is survived by wife, Barbara Sheppard Daniel of Gordon; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Mack Lee of Gordon; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sherry Daniel of Jones County; sisters, Ruth Murkerson of Eastman and Evelyn Long of Macon; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Manus
Jackie Polk Manus, 67, of Milledgeville, died Thursday, June 5, 2003. Funeral was Sunday, June 8, at Snow’s Memorial Chapel in Macon, with burial at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Rev. Kenneth A. Walker officiated.
Mrs. Manus was born in Telfair County and was retired from Robins Air Force Base. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Milledgeville and the Ladies 2 Sunday School Class. Mrs. Manus was the daughter of the late James W. and Eudell Waters Young and was preceded in death by her sister, Polly Neeley and her brothers Vernon and Euley Young.
Mrs. Manus is survived by her husband, Walter Ralph Manus of Milledgeville; daughter, Wanda Wellborn of Gray; great-grandchild, Kiersten Maddox of Macon; brother Bobby Young of Helena; sisters, Carol Patrick of Fort Valley, Sheila Herring of Macon, Farrell Mitchell of Twiggs County; step-daughters, Sharon Pixley of Mulberry, Arkansas, Vonda Manus of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five step-grandchildren.

Mr. Pippin
Walter Douglas Pippin, 65, of Joycliff Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in a local hospital. Memorial services were held Thursday, June 5, in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home in Gray, with Rev. Karen Mitcham officiating.
Mr. Pippin, born in Jackson, was a lifelong resident of Jones County and was the son of the late Walter Herbert Pippin and Beulah Mae Hardy Pippin. He was a graduate of Jones County High School, served in the United States Air Force, and was a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service in Macon. Mr. Pippin was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Postal Workers Union.
Mr. Pippin is survived by his wife: Shirley Jean Pippin of Jones County; a son: Sonny Pippin of Centerville; brother: Asa Pippin of Jones County; sisters: Jane P. Hoard, Joan P. Pickren and Glenda P. Kinard, all of Jones County; grandchildren: Jason Pippin, Danny Pippin and Autumn Pippin; and by his great-grandchildren: Brooklynn Pippin and Michael Pippin.

Mrs. Seelye
Gladys Hyde Seelye, 91, of GA Highway 18 West, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in a local nursing home. Funeral was held Friday, June 6, in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, with burial at Plentitude Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Donnie Melton officiated.
Mrs. Seelye was born in Fanin County and had lived in Gray for the past thirty-eight years. She was the daughter of James Napoleon Hyde and Senia Standridge Hyde. Mrs. Seelye was a homemaker and was a member of North Ridge Baptist Church in Macon. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jacob M. Pendergrass, and by her second husband, Paul W. Seelye, Sr.
Mrs. Seelye is survived by her daughters: Lucille Gordon and Wanda McLendon, both of Gray, and Delores Beason of Cocoa Beach, Florida; her sisters: Leo Hyde of Knoxville, Tennessee, Helen Mosley of Blue Ridge and Lenarue Babb of Marietta; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Senn
Jack Harold Senn, 65, died Thursday, June 5, 2003. Memorial services were held Sunday, June 8, at 144 Yukon Road in Jones County.
Mr. Senn was born in Enterprise, Alabama and had lived in Pooler the past ten years. He was the son of the late Johnny David Senn and Charitie Senn, and was a barber.
Mr. Senn is survived by his sister: Winnie Sherrod of Sylvester; and his brothers: Johnny Senn of Jones County, Billy Senn of Jacksonville, Florida, Gene Senn of Salem, Alabama and Clifford Senn of Phenix City, Alabama.

Mr. Victrum
John “Mutt” Victrum, 74, of Monticello, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Funeral was Sunday, June 8, at Springfield Baptist Church with burial in Southview Cemetery.
Mr. Victrum served his country in the United Stated Army for two tours in the Korean War. He spent the balance of his working life as a professional truck driver.
Survivors include a devoted companion, Fazetta Lampkin of Monticello; seven sons: Preston Gray of Stanfield, NC, Larry Gray of Haddock, Herbert Gray of Ardmore, OK, Kenneth Gray of Macon, Franklin Farrar of Gray, James Traylor and Vashon Traylor, both of Monticello; four daughters: Ester Pounds of Milldegeville, Connie Davis of Byron, Wendy Traylor and April Traylor, both of Monticello; one aunt, Iola Goolsby of Eatonton; eight brothers, two sisters; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Foster
Frank A. Foster, 82, died Friday, November 28, 2003. Services were held Monday, December 1, in the sanctuary of Gray United Methodist Church, with burial at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray. Rev. John Haney officiated.
Mr. Foster was born April, 20, 1921, in Otto, North Carolina, but had lived in middle Georgia for the past 50 years. A veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II, he was a graduate of Piedmont College and Peabody University. Mr. Foster retired as a chief probation/parole officer with the United States courts and was a member of the Central Georgia Seniors Golf Association, as well as being a lifelong Methodist and an active member of Gray United Methodist Church since 1965.
Mr. Foster is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois K. Foster of Gray; daughters and son-in-law, Carol Foster of Macon and Dale and David Harrell of Newnan; his granddaughters, Laura Foster, Deborah Harrell and Meredith Harrell; a sister, Frances McClure of Marietta; his brothers, Roy Foster of Buford and Ellis Foster of Hartwell; and by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hasty
Angela Hasty, 71, died Sunday, November 30, 2003. Services were held Wednesday, December 3, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home with burial at Prospect United Methodist Church cemetery in Twiggs County. Rev. Bob Hamilton and Rev. Len Woodard officiated.
Mrs. Hasty was born in Macon and had lived in Haddock for the past eight years. She was the daughter of the late Pauline Rutherford. Mrs. Hasty worked on the assembly line for the Allen Bradley Corporation and was a member of New Hope Baptist in Jones County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mayo Hasty.
Mrs. Hasty is survived by two daughters, Vicki Herring and Debi Smith, both of Haddock; three sons, Michael Hasty of Warner Robins, Marty Hasty of Jeffersonville, and Dennis Hasty of Hawkinsville; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jackson
Lura Marie Jackson, 89, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003. Services were held Friday, November 28, in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary. Dr. Max Hill officiated.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of Lynmore United Methodist Church of Macon where she was a faithful and active member for over 60 years. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a member of the 39’ers Travel Club. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Jackson and her son, Earl Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her son, Billy Jackson and wife Patsy of Macon; daughter, Gayle Jackson of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Greene of Jones County and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Simpson
Ruth W. Simpson, 81, died Monday, December 1, 2003. Graveside services were held Wednesday, December 3, at Green Lawn Cemetery in Union Point, Georgia. Rev. John Haney officiated.
Mrs. Simpson was born in Greene County and had lived in Gray for the past 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Monroe Walker and Mary Hicks Walker. Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and when her children were in school, she worked for the former Sno-White Laundry in Gray and then later worked with Watson Discount Variety Store before retiring in 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. Simpson.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine S. and Kim Gandy of Macon and Cindy S. and Clyde Willingham of Gray; her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Phillis Simpson of Gray; her granddaughters, Stefanie Simpson of Macon and Gigi Best of Dunwoody; a grandson, Stephen Simpson of Gray; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Fitzgerald
Christine S. Fitzgerald, 76, of Unadilla died on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Services were held July 26, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Unadilla with interment at Walnut Cemetery of Unadilla.
Born in Crisp County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Rentfrow and Nannie Allison Rentfrow. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Unadilla, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She had previously worked at Pinecrest Baptist Church Daycare in Cordele and was the widow of Charles Fitzgerald. She had lived in Unadilla the past two years, moving from Cordele.
Survivors include her children, Pam Arflin of Unadilla, Ronnie Scott of Hawkinsville, and Mike Scott of Lizella; stepchildren, Betty Ledford of Rochelle, Sara Benson of Cordele, Cheri Butterworth of Cordele, and Dana Copeland of Pitts; brothers, Jimmy Rentfrow of Wenona and Everett Rentfrow of Gray; sister, Thema Retrow of Wenona; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Freeburn
Shirley Mae Freeburn, 73, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002. Graveside services were held on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn, SC.
Mrs. Freeburn was a methodist and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a strong supporter of the Carousel Riding Center for people with disabilities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Freeburn.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Kevin Kerr of Gray; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Pam Freeburn of Stafford, VA and Jerry and Barb Freeburn of Pittsford, MI; and five grandchildren, Callie Kerr, Kelly Vowell, Kerry Freeburn, Laurie Hunter and Jennifer Dumire.

Mrs. Simmons
Mary Lena Simmons, 79, of Route #1, Cadwell, died July 24, 2002, in a local nursing home. Memorial services were held July 28, 2002 in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home in Gray.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Marshallville and had lived the past two years in Jones County, having previously lived in Cadwell. She was the daughter of the late Clifford Oscar Brinkley Shurley and Eva M. Elkins Shurley. Mrs. Simmons was retired from the Linens Department at the Coliseum Medical Center and was a Jehovah’s Witness.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, James Edward Simmons, Sr. of Jones County; sons, Oscar and Andy Simmons, both of Jones County; daughters, Deborah McDaniel of Eatonton, Dianne James of Hugler, SC, and Dorothy Culpepper of Cadwell; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. White
Lou Ray White, 85, of Vineville Christian Towers, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at her residence. A Memorial Service was held Sunday, July 28th in the Chapel at Hart’s Mortuary, Rev. Jim Dant officiated.
Mrs. White was a charter member of Highland Hills Baptist Church and a member of the Pilot Club of Macon. She was also retired from the Macon Federal Savings and Loan. Mrs. White was preceded in death by first husband, Samuel T. Ray, in 1960; and second husband, Tom White, and grandson Samuel T. Ray, IV.
Survivors: son, John C. Ray of Gray; son Samuel “Chuck” Ray and his wife Irene of Macon; daughter, Judy Ray Reitz of Gray; grandchildren, Christine Holland, Donna McKinney, Denna Bradford, Sommer Morgan, Scarlett Cranford, Jennifer Andrews, Jonathan Ray and Julie Sterling; great-grandchildren, Brandon Spivey, Dalton Spivey, Niki Skinner, Jessica Holland, David Lee Bradford, and Kayla Sterling; great-great-grandchild, Dylan Skinner.

Amanda Lynne Brooks, 22, passed away Friday, September 13, 2002. Services were held Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at the Covenant Life Cathedral. Internment followed at the Middle Georgia Memory Gardens.
Ms Brooks was a student at Macon State College and a daycare provider at a preschool and daycare. She was a member of the Covenant Life Cathedral.
Ms. Brooks is survived by her parents: Jessie and Joanne Brooks, Sr., of Macon, and Debra S. Brooks of Byron; sister: Jessica Wooten of Bradley and Gina Ann Brooks of Macon; brother: “Buddy” Brooks, Jr. of Macon; a step-brother: Alan Blizzard of Macon; grandparents: Elizabeth “Libby” Brooks of Macon, Grace and Billy W. Ms. Brooks was a member of Covenant Life Cathedral and actively involved in Christ Chapel. She attended Early Trails Day Care Center.

Mr. Lunceford
Hugh A. Lunceford, 83, of Lake Sinclair, died September 20, 2002, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held September 21, 2002 in Gray United Methodist Church. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Macon. The Rev. John Haney officiated.
Mr. Lunceford was born in Crawford County and had lived at Lake Sinclair for the past 15 years. He was the son of the late Clifton and Susie McCarthy Lunceford. Mr. Lunceford was retired from Robins Air Force Base, was a member of the Baldwin Senior Bowling League, and a member of the Gray United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Mariellyn Greene Lunceford of Lake Sinclair; daughter and son-in-law: Robin and Joey Casteel of Lizella; 2 grandchildren, Shawni Casteel of Lizella, and Colby Collins of Fort Valley; 1 brother, Ernest Lunceford of Rocky Face.

Mrs. Risby
Clara Ammons Risby of Jones County, died Monday, September 16, 2002. Services were held Friday, September 20th at St. James AME Church in Bradley with burial in the Community Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Risby was born to the late Mitchell and Rozell Ammons.
Ms. Risby is survived by her children, Charlenia Ammons of Milledgeville, Tamika Ammons of Monticello, and Charlie Ammons of Hampton, VA.; brothers and sisters: Mitchell Ammons, Jr., Ludell Tyus, both of Jackson, Hylon Ammons, Ellis Ammons both of Monticello, Mozell Jackson, Mary Ammons both of Round Oak, Lizzie Griswold of Milledgeville, and Alice Williams of Macon.

Mrs. Stanford
Martha Pearl Williamson Stanford, 84, of Old Highway 11, died September 21, 2002, in a local nursing home. Funeral services were held September 23, 2002 at the Roundway Baptist Church, with burial at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. Dr. Grady Fuller officiated. The Jones County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard rendered honors at both the church and cemetery.
Mrs. Stanford was a lifelong resident of Jones County. She was the daughter of the late Roland Ross Williamson and Ceola Mercer Williamson. Mrs. Stanford was educated in the Jones County Schools, where she played on the girls’ basketball team. She worked at the canning plant in Wayside, the aluminum plant in Eatonton and the fuse plant in Macon. She was a charter member of Roundway Baptist Church in Jones County, where she was a member of the WMU, the Adult Sunday School Class, and the Thirty-Niner’s Club. Mrs. Stanford was a member of the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and of the Woodmen of the World. She loved people, loved to travel, enjoyed gospel music and making crafts of every description. Mrs. Stanford was preceded in death by a son, James M. Stanford and by a grandson, Philip “Chipper” Stanford, Jr.
Mrs. Stanford is survived by her husband, Milton Stanford of Wayside; her son and daughter-in-law: Philip and Thelma Stanford of Wayside; her daughter and son-in-law: Ianthy and Cliff Ferguson of Petersburg, VA; her grandchildren: Cheryl Stanford, Jef Stanford, Bruce Stanford, Jill Huckeba, Michele Chaffin, Mike Ferguson, Tammy Faulkner and Lendy Watson; and by eleven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stewart
Turner Howard Stewart, 73, of Fox Road, died September 22, 2002, in a local hospital. Funeral services were on September 24, 2002 in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, with burial at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. Rev. Jeff Morrow and Rev. Bobby Thompson officiated.
Mr. Stewart was born in Laurens County and had lived in Jones County for the past 50 years. He was the son of the late John Thurman Stewart and Annie Mae Turner Stewart. Mr. Stewart was a retired truck driver for John Walker, Inc. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Stewart.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his children: Ray Stewart of Macon, and Steven Stewart of Woodbury, Claire and Ray Crews of Macon, and Mary Ann Stewart of Macon; a brother: Leonard Stewart of Macon; sisters: Inez Smith of Albemarle, NC, and Clara Burch of Macon; grandchildren: Wesley and Heather Crews, Jonathan Crews, Brandon and Michelle Crews, all of Macon, Melandie and John Ogletree of Ringgold and Steven Williams of Woodbury; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
