James E. Cowley, 86
EATONTOWN, N.J. James Eugene Cowley, 86, a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001.
A native of Philadelphia, he was an Ocala winter resident. Mr. Cowley served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a member of Silver Springs Shores Elks Lodge, a Bridge Club and Fort Monmouth Officers Club.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ella M. Kalman Cowley, Eatontown; daughter, Kathleen Miller, Ocala; brother, Eugene James Cowley, King of Prussia, Pa.; sister, Mary Walsh, Marlton, N.J.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Nita H. MacFarlane, 88
OCALA Nita Harriett MacFarlane, 88, a homemaker, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at TimberRidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Sherbrooke, Canada, she moved here from Port Charlotte in 1995.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Kerans, Middleton, Wis.; sister, Audrey MacCallum, Ocala; and five grandchildren.

Ena M. Volini, 79
OCALA Ena M. Volini, 79, a retired waitress, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Palm Gardens of Ocala.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved here from Deerfield Beach in 1981. Mrs. Volini was Catholic.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol A. Volini, Ocala; son, Robert J. Volini, Island Park, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Volini Sr.; and son, James J. Volini Jr.

Pauline I. Andrinie, 75
CRYSTAL RIVER Pauline Ingram Andrinie, 75, a homemaker, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Safety Harbor.
A native of Lima, Ohio, she moved here from Tarpon Springs in 1967. Mrs. Andrinie was a member of First Baptist Church of Inglis and Florida Archery Hall of Fame. She was the 1961 National Archery champion.
Survivors include her sons, James E. Andrinie and Dean J. Andrinie, both of Crystal River; daughter, Cindy Nicolosi, Tarpon Springs; caregiver, Paul Nicolosi, Tarpon Springs; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxx Andrinie, who died Nov. 21, 2000.

Promon Bentley, 49
OCALA Promon Bentley, 49, a truck driver, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Sylvia's House.
A native of Jacksonville, he moved here 30 years ago. Mr. Bentley was Baptist.
Survivors include his brothers, Luke Bentley, Mack Bentley, Chester Bentley and Alvesta Bentley, all of Ocala; and sisters, Estelle Honor, Silver Springs, Shirley Ward, Annie Rucker, Robertha Adams, Josephine Bentley, Debra Bentley, Belinda Bentley and Annie Davis, all of Ocala.

Helena E. Best, 85
OCALA Helena E. Best, 85, a retired Head Start administrator, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Goodman, Miss., she moved here from Amityville, N.Y., in 1980. Mrs. Best was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Candler; Central Florida Symphony Guild; and Silver Springs Shores' Shuffle Board Club, Garden Club and Residents Association.
Survivors include her husband, Vincent E. Best, Ocala; sons, Thomas Morton, Hempstead, N.Y., and Wayne Jones, Amityville; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Frances G. Daney, 92
MARYLAND Frances Gary Daney, 92, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at North Arundel Hospital in Glen Burnie, Md.
A native of Ocala, she was a longtime resident of Marion County. Mrs. Daney was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Daney, Pebble Beach, Calif., and William Daney, Crownsville, Md.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Daney.

Nancy K. Falks, 88
HERNANDO Nancy K. Falks, 88, a retired restaurant owner and operator, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001.
A native of Windsor, she moved here 30 years ago. Mrs. Falks was Baptist.
Survivors include her son, Maxie Mehaffy, Fort McCoy; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ella H. Green, 86
OCALA Ella H. Green, 86, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Ludlow, Mass., she moved here from Largo two years ago. Mrs. Green was a member of Christ Adelphian Church in Orlando.
Survivors include her husband, John A. Green Jr., Ocala; son, John A. Green III, Ocala; daughter, Clara Strunk, Ocala; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Brilliant.

Rose Hays, 83
OCALA Rose Hays, 83, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001.
A native of Detroit, she moved here from Fort Pierce in 1990.
Survivors include her son, David "Rusty" V. Hays, Ocala; daughter, Ruth A. Prchal, Naperville, Ill.; sisters, Virginia Clark, Ocala, Ann Sheffield, Tampa, Josephine Bremner, Fort Lauderdale, Frances Carrier, Nancy Pistorio and Mary Congliaro, all of Michigan; and brother, Vincent Costa, Michigan; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County or American Cancer Society.

Willie Howard Jr., 70
REDDICK Willie Howard Jr., 70, a retired truck driver, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at home.
Mr. Howard was a native and lifelong resident of Reddick. He was Pentecostal.
Survivors include his wife, Maurice Howard, Reddick; daughter, Lavern Howard, Belleview; son, Randy Howard, Rochester, N.Y.; stepdaughters, Ezell Fisher, Miami, and Ozell Nelson, Norfolk, Va.; stepsons, Michael Green, Reddick, Eugene Nelson and Kenneth Nelson, both of Gainesville; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

James M. Killen, 70
OCALA James M. Killen, 70, a retired vice president of Survival Equipment Co., died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Sylvia's House.
A native of Bronx, N.Y., he moved here from Long Island, N.Y., in 1994. Mr. Killen was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Angela Santos Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4781, Fleet Reserve, and Parachute Riggers Association. Mr. Killen served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Killen, Ocala; daughters, Carolann Hugo, Schuyler, Va., and Eileen Kaler, Blue Point, N.Y.; son, James F. Killen, Phoenix; sisters, Sister Margaret McKevitt, New Rochelle, N.Y., and Catherine Dullaghan, Bear Creek, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Milo O. Kirkpatrick, 72
SUMMERFIELD Milo O. Kirkpatrick, 72, a retired college president, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Asheville, N.C., he moved here from Pawleys Island, S.C., in 1993. Mr. Kirkpatrick retired from King's College in Charlotte, N.C. He was a member of Northlake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake. Mr. Kirkpatrick served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Emily Kirkpatrick, Summerfield; and brother, Robert C. Kirkpatrick, Monroe, N.C.

Albert L. Livick, 53
OCALA Albert Lewis Livick, 53, a lithographer, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at home.
A native of Champagne, Ill., he moved here from Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife, Tortesa Livick, Ocala; son, Thomas Livick, Ocala; and sister, Linda C. Livick, Jacksonville.

Elia O. Locke, 80
SILVER SPRINGS Elia O. Locke, 80, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Canton, Ohio, she moved here in 1979. Mrs. Locke was Methodist.
Survivors include her sons, Henry Honeycutt, Silver Springs and Fred Honeycutt, Navar, Ohio; brothers, Ike Lewis, Wooster, Ohio, and Frank Lewis, Ridgeville, Ohio; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Aubrey O. Moore, 79
OCALA Aubrey O. Moore, 79, a retired test-board technician for Southern Bell, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Miami, he moved here seven years ago. Mr. Moore was a member of Stanton Memorial Baptist Church, Marine Corps League of Ocala, Senior Friends of Ocala, and attended First Baptist Church of Ocala. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his sister, Rubye Berry, Mansfield, Ohio; granddaughter, Christine M. Moore, Ocala; and caregiver, Marilou Truitt, Ocala.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen S. Moore.

Charles A. Nichols, 71
EUREKA Charles A. Nichols, 71, a retired repair foreman for Southern Bell, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001.
A native of Decatur, Ala., he moved here from Hollywood in 1995. Mr. Nichols was a member of First Baptist Church in Eureka and Telephone Pioneers. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Nichols, Eureka; son, Stephen A. Nichols, Eureka; daughters, Judy A. Nichols, Miami, Anita G. Nichols and Christina Rhoades, both of Eureka; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

DUNNELLON Catherine Reno, 61, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at home.
A native of New York City, she moved here from Queens, N.Y., in 1994. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son, Michael Reno, Dunnellon; and three grandchildren.

Robert L. Robertson, 51
REDDICK Robert Lee Robertson, 51, an electrician, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, in Gainesville.
A native of Micanopy, he was a longtime resident of Marion County. Mr. Robertson was Baptist.

A native of Kokomo, Ind., she moved here 20 years ago. Mrs. Shepherd was an active member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Belleview, and member of Orange Blossom Hills Owners Association Ladies Auxiliary and United Commercial Travelers.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Shepherd, Summerfield; daughters, Barbara J.K. Crull, Kokomo, Anna L. Fite, Monticello, and Joanne Lake, Ocala; son, Harry A. Shepherd, Tipton, Ind.; sisters, Janice Wilburn and Joyce Froc, both of Georgia; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
