Mardy Dixon
Mardy (Mardell Ann) Dixon, age 53, of Mary Esther, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Dixon was born on Sept. 3, 1946, in Waverly, Iowa, to Dorothy E. and the late Harold A. Brandenburg. Mardy grew up in Iowa and treasured the family values she learned there. She also traveled the world extensively with her husband while he was serving with the U.S. Air Force. Mardy was employed by civil service as a computer clerk for the commissary. Mrs. Dixon was Lutheran by faith and will be missed by all.
Mardy is survived by her husband, Garry A. Dixon of Mary Esther; son, Scott M. Dixon of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; daughter, Connie Ronnie and husband Mitch of Sunset, Utah; son, Mark A. Dixon and wife Tricia of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; mother, Dorothy E. Brandenburg of Waverly; brother, Garry L. Brandenburg and wife Roberta of Albion, Iowa; and granddaughter, Sabrina Ronnie of Sunset; and many friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Grace Lutheran Church in Destin with Pastor Paul W. Kummer officiating.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are Joe Moretti, Tim Bader, Tim Mursch, Randy Wyatt and "Dusty" Austin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 4 N.E. Jackson St., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, in memory of Mrs. Mardell Ann Dixon.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road N.E., Fort Walton Beach, is in charge of arrangements.

Chaz Michael Durbin
Chaz Michael Durbin, infant, died Sept. 28, 1999.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2.
Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Mae Donaldson Hearn
Minnie Mae Donaldson Hearn, age 91, of Valparaiso, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at the Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville.
She was born in Coffee County, Ala., on Feb. 27, 1908, and had resided in Valparaiso for the past 70 years. Minnie Mae was a member of the First Baptist Church of Valparaiso.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua "Bud" Hearn, her parents, Lula and Toby Donaldson, her son, Wilson "Sam" Hearn, her brother, Loskey "Dick" Donaldson, and her grandson, Danny Wilson Hearn.
Survivors include her granddaughter and her husband, Debra and Richard Schmeltzer and her only great-grandson Ricky Schmeltzer Jr., all of Valparaiso, her sister and her husband, Ouida and Randolph Crosby, her sister-in-law, Lucille Donaldson, all of Elba, Ala., and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Valparaiso on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mike Stokes officiating. Internment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Valparaiso. Mrs. Hearn will be moved to the church one hour prior to services.
Floral contributions will be accepted.

Calvin Kenneth Pace
Calvin Kenneth Pace, age 72, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died of cancer on Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, in a local hospital.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1927, to Thomas Offut Pace and Beulah Lee Austin Pace in South Bend, Ind. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Underwater Demolition Team during World War II. Later he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he flew B-52s until his retirement in 1965 as a major. After retirement, he worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in Southeast Asia, earning the Intelligence Star (the second highest award for bravery) and retired again in 1975.
He returned to college at that time and received his degree in accounting. He was in "Who's Who of American College Students." After college he passed his CPA examination and worked as an accountant and comptroller. He was a native of Marion, Ky.
Mr. Pace is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Pace of Fort Walton Beach; brother, Harry Pace; daughter, Suzanne Brewer of Tallahassee, Fla.; son, Morris Roy Pace II of Tallahassee; and five grandchildren.
Private services were conducted by the family and burial will be conducted at a later date in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

Americo J. Fiorello
Americo J. Fiorello, age 82, of Niceville, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at the Manor at Bluewater Bay, Fla.
He was born on March 11, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and served in the Conserva-tion Corps during the 1930s and later in the Army Air Force during World War II. After the war he resided in Charlotte, N.C., for 49 years with his loving wife Clara, who preceded him in death in September 1995. He was a resident of Niceville, Fla., since 1995.
He was a loving father whose memory will be cherished forever.
Mr. Fiorello is survived by his son, Joe Fiorello; daughter-in-law, Marta Fiorello; and grandsons, Chris and Jeff Fiorello, all of Niceville.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Forrest Lawn Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center, P.O. Box 1237, Niceville, FL 32588-1237, in memory of Americo J. Fiorello.

Ada Commander Conner
Ada Commander Conner, age 91, of the Darlington community, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 5, 1999, in Bonifay, Fla.
Born on Feb. 4, 1908, in Darlington, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Burgess Commander. Mrs. Conner was a lifelong resident of the Darlington community and a member of Darlington Methodist Church. She was a very talented seamstress and a very devoted homemaker and grandmother.
Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Conner. She is survived by her sons, George Conner and wife Mary of Upper Marlboro, Md., and William H. Conner and wife Helda of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Nora Campbell and husband T.C. of Darlington; brother, Fred Commander of Darlington; sisters, Ruby McCrary of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Mildred Campbell of DeFuniak Springs; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Darlington Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Mashbern officiating. Burial will follow in Darlington Methodist Church Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Comander Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Darlington Methodist Church.

Eunice R. McDonald
Eunice R. Nelson McDonald passed away Oct. 4, 1999, at Crestview nursing facility.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1917, in Leonia, Fla., and had resided in Crestview since 1952. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed. She worked in the nursing and insurance departments at local hospitals for many years.
Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Floyd McDonald; and a son, Thomas Ray McDonald. Survivors include her sons, Robert McDonald of Crestview, Russell McDonald of Middleburg, Fla., and Dean McDonald of Baker, Fla.; daughters, Faye Cadenhead, Sue Hooks and Emily Malloy, all of Crestview; brother, Quinton Nelson of Huntsville, Ala.; sisters, Mary Gann and Mildred Penny of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 26 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McLaughlin Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at McLaughlin-Aultman Funeral Home with the Revs. Raymond Williams and Ray Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Benjamin Hubley Garnett
Benjamin Hubley Garnett, age 88, of Navarre, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999.
Mr. Garnett was born in West Conshohocken, Pa., and moved to the Pensacola, Fla., area in 1995 from King, N.C.
He is survived by a son, Benjamin J. Garnett of Palm Meadow, Fla.; daughter, June L. Buchenauer of Navarre; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Bayview Memorial Park. Entombment will follow in Bayview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the R.B. Thieme Ministries, 5139 West Alabama, Houston, TX 77056.

Alma B. Upton
Alma B. Howell Upton, age 92, of Niceville, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999.
She was born on May 30, 1908, in Laurel Hill, Fla., and had lived in Niceville for the past 85 years. Alma was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Niceville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Teller Howell; parents, James and Josephine Barrow; and brothers, Mallory and Johnny Barrow.
Survivors include her daughter, Mabel Wirth; son, Claude Howell, both of Niceville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Boller officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso, Fla.
She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Thelma N. Lord
Thelma N. Lord, age 67, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, in a local hospital.
She was born in Bronson, Fla., on Nov. 20, 1931. She had lived in the Crestview, Fla., area since 1962 and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Crestview. She retired from civil service after 30 years of service, and was a member of the Happy Homemakers, a TOPS leader and a volunteer for the YMCA in Crestview.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis M. Lord of Crestview; son, Curtis Wesley Lord of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Pamela Juanita Quigley of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sister, Voncille Lord of Orlando, Fla.; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Quigley, Meredith Lord and Kristin Lord.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at McLaughlin Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Crestview at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, with the Rev. Billy Joy officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Park Cemetery in Crestview.
