John H. Courtney
John H. Courtney, age 68, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999.
His son, Jack Courtney, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Villanova of Carmel, N.Y.; brother, Bob Courtney of Mahopac, N.Y.; and his loved one, Lana Iannuccilli of Santa Rosa Beach.
Private services were held by the family.
Casket Galleria and Affordable Funerals, Pensacola, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

William Dawson Pullum
William Dawson Pullum, 96, died Dec. 3, 1999, at Walton Regional Hospital. He was born May 3, 1903.
Mr. Pullum was born in Alabama and resided in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., since 1940. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs and a retired civil service employee.
Mr. Pullum is preceded in death by his wife, Gussie Toole Pullum. Survivors include a daughter, Sue White; daughter and son-in-law, Willie Jean and Robert Sellers of DeFuniak Springs; and a son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Christine Pullum of Lafayette, La.; three grandchildren, Frances Martin, Bill White and Greg Sellers; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Evans Funeral Home Chapel in DeFuniak Springs Monday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William A. Young officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Bill White, John Petty, Greg Sellers, Nick Martin, Phillip Martin, J.W. Adkison and/or Clifton Bell Sr.
Sims Funeral Home, Inc. of Bonifay, Fla., in charge of arrangements.

Jill Watson
Jill Watson, age 19, of Crestview, Fla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Jill was born in Stuart, Fla., and had lived in Crestview since 1989. She was formerly employed by McLain's Family Restaurant and Wal-Mart in Crestview. Jill was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Dottie Campbell of Crestview, and father, Darrold Watson of Stuart; fiance, Albert John McDonald; grandparents, Frank and Velma Malocsay, Nancy Pierce and Louise Campbell; brother, Chris Watson; four sisters, Jessica Campbell, Michelle Campbell, Ashley Campbell and Brittany Campbell; and many loving aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, from the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Crestview, with the Rev. Mark Seagle and Chaplain Faye Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Willie Pearl McCurley Edge
Willie Pearl McCurley Edge, age 62, wife of the late David Randolph Edge of Crestview, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1999, in a local hospital. She was born in Pensacola, Fla.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, David Wayne and Barbara Edge of Crestview; Anthony Franklin and Sharon Edge of Port Barre, La.; daughters Callie Wilson and fiance, Steve Junger of Crestview; Donna Faith Edge of Crestview; brothers Ephrom (Sonny) McCurley of Tustin, Ca.; Elijah McCurley of Santa Anna, Calif.; James W. McCurley of Dothan, Ala.; sister, Mary Ellen Gillmore of Dorcas, Fla.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; aunt, Willie Mae Boles of Cantonment, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at McLaughlin-Aultman Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999. A celebration of life service will be held at McLaughlin-Aultman Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at 2 p.m. with her brother, the Rev. James McCurley and the Rev. Donnie Cadenhead officiating. The family has requested that any memorial contributions be made to the A.R.C.
McLauglin-Aultman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Carole (Platte) Warr
Mrs. Betty Carole (Platte) Warr, 56, of 317 W. 34th St., Panama City, Fla., died Friday at a local hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Warr had been a resident of Panama City since 1974, except for a 4 year period while living in Mobile, Ala., until her husband's retirement from Sears in 1993.
Mrs. Warr was a native of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and worked for the city of Fort Walton Beach and the state of Florida Division of HRS in Panama City for many years.
She was a member of Grace Baptist church and was a faithful Christian example to all who knew her. Mrs. Warr was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jimmy G. Warr Sr.; one son, Jimmy G. Warr Jr.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Marie Warr; one grandson, Jimmy G. Warr III; mother-in-law, Ida Kate Warr; and brother-in-law, Arnett B. Warr. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas W. Hale and Mary L. (Broxan) Hale; and her grandparents, Joseph Broxan and Katie (Buck) Broxan, all of Fort Walton Beach.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Curtis officiating. Internment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Asked to serve as pallbearers are Mr. Bob Davis, Mr. Chrin Werle, Mr. Doug Brock, Mr. Bennet Sawyer, Mr. Wade Armstrong and Mr. Dan Blue.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations can be made to the Missionary Fund of Grace Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Warr.

R.A. "Freck" Waller Jr.
R.A. "Freck" Waller Jr., 81, passed away quietly at his home with his family around him in Valparaiso, Fla., Dec. 3, 1999, after a long struggle against cancer.
He was a loving father, grandfather and friend and his passing leaves all of us with a void in our lives.
Born Richmond A. Waller Jr., June 23, 1918, in Keo, Ark., Freck had his named change to initials only when he left his home to join the Army in September 1937. He served in the Army both as an infantryman and then a career medical corpsman for 30 years, retiring in 1967 at Fort Bliss Army Base in El Paso, Texas. Sgt. Major Waller was a combat veteran of both WWII and the Korean War. After retiring from the Army, Freck moved his family to Valparaiso/Niceville, Fla., in 1967, to work for his brother-in-law and friend, A.L. Johnson, at Child's Drug Store in Niceville until he retired for a second time in 1994.
Freck is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maudine Waller; and his three daughters, Martha Hall of Houston, Peggy Waller-McBride of Albuquerque, N.M., and Virginia Earl of Valrico, Fla. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Gloria Spera of Orlando, Fla., Carol Ann Hall-Guerrero of Valparaiso, and Jonathan Earl of Valrico; and two great grandchildren, Francesca Guerrero and Nikki Spears.
Other family members include his brother, George Waller of Keo; two sisters, Mildred Carr of Montana and Delores Neal of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Skipper officiating at McLaughlin Twin Cities Chapel in Niceville. Viewing and a memory table will be held from 10-11 a.m.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held in Hot Springs, Ark., on Dec. 10, 1999, with Gross Funeral Home of Hot Springs being entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida located in Niceville.
McLaughlin Funeral Home in Niceville is entrusted with the arrangements.

Nina Mildred Head
Nina Mildred DeLoach Head passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at the age of 93.
She was a resident of Silvercrest Manor Nursing Home in Crestview, Fla. Mrs. Head was a native of Alabama, born in Langdale on April 25, 1906. She married James Byron Head, a Baptist minister, in 1936.
Mrs. Head is survived by her sons, John Head of San Fernando, Calif., and Robert Head of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; daughter, Ruth Head Thompson of Baker, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Bobbie Head of California, and Sharyn Head of Alabama; and son-in-law, Earl Thompson of Baker. Mrs. Head is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jonathan Head and Andrew Head of Alabama, Jeff Thompson and Melody Bolton of Baker, Denise Lawley of Alabama, Debbie Head of California, Jimmy Head and Tommy Head of Jackson, Miss. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Our mother was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Head was preceded in death by her mother and father, Leonard Estelle and Eugene DeLoach and her husband the Rev. James B. Head.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Whitehurst Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. T.V. Kolmetz officiating. Burial will follow in Baggett Cemetery in Milligan, Fla., with Whitehurst Funeral Home directing.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Whitehurst Funeral Home, Crestview, is in charge of arrangements.

James Omar Shores
James Omar Shores, age 80, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 2, 1999, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Shores was born on March 27, 1919, in Dames Quarters, Md., to the late Ernest and Mary Shores. He was a resident of Fort Walton Beach since 1979, moving here from Maryland. Mr. Shores served in the U.S. Army, 80th Division, during World War II and later worked with the Pennsylvania Railroad Co. for 55 years. He was a member of VFW Post 8950 in Maryland; Moose Lodge 2193 in Fort Walton Beach; and a past member of Sons of Italy.
Mr. Shores was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Shores; two sisters; and his brother. He is survived by his daughter, Madeleine Pinkerman of Fort Walton Beach; son, Ernest Shores of Fort Walton Beach; grandchildren, Thomas Pinkerman of Delaware, Rhonda Pinkerman of Italy, and Ernie Shores of Fort Walton Beach; and great-grandson, Erik Shores of Fort Walton Beach.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10. A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. during the visitation with the Rev. James Cole officiating.

Frank A. Nick
Frank A. Nick, age 81, passed away at his home in Freeport, Fla., on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999.
Originally from Oakfield, N.Y., he was one of 11 children of Candita Florita and Constanza Nicometo. Mr. Nick moved to Freeport in 1957 and bought the "fish house" from Thomas Godwin, where the original Nick's Restaurant is located. He quit the restaurant business in 1969 and it has been operated by his son and his daughter and his grandson since that time. Mr. Nick founded what has long since become a familiar landmark in Northwest Florida. He was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Arthur Nicometo. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hattie Luker Nick of Freeport; son, Frank Nick Jr. and wife Bonnie of Freeport; daughter, Connie Jones and husband Wayne of Freeport; brothers, James Nickometo and wife Loretta of Buffalo, N.Y., Al Nick and wife Mary Ann of Montgomery, Ala., Dominic Nicometo and wife Sandy of Niceville, Fla.; sisters, Mary Desimone and husband Eddie of Montgomery, Olga Deas and husband Norris of Montgomery, Florence Shelvin of Caledonia, N.Y., and Connie Woodruff of Montgomery; grandsons, Frank (Trey) Nick III and wife Jennifer, Charles Carey Nick, all of Freeport; granddaughter, Rachel Lauren Jones of Freeport. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freeport YMCA Building Fund, P.O. Box 285, Freeport, Fla.
Pallbearers will be Trey Nick, Carey Nick, Lee Newton, Tommy Nick, Tommy Swindle and Bill Oelscheager.
A time of visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Jerry Evans Funeral Home in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Portland United Methodist Church with the Revs. Fred Gillis and Doub Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Hatcher Cemetery.

Etta L. Barnett
Etta L. Barnett, age 76, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at her home Monday, Dec. 6, 1999.
Mrs. Barnett was born on May 16, 1923, in Aberdeen, Miss., to Jessie Allen and Frances Easter Bourland Sr. She moved to this area in 1967 from Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan, and was Methodist by faith.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and had a gentle and kind spirit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Barnett. Survivors include her children, Sandra K. Allard and husband Earl F. of Shalimar, Fla., Vicki L. Soenksen and husband Michael of Pensacola, Fla., Kenneth G. Barnett of Fort Walton Beach, Ronald K. Barnett of Fort Walton Beach; sister, Francis Gross and husband Virgil L. of Columbus, Miss.; grandchildren, Pamela J. Allard of Colorado Springs, Colo., Deborah A. Scroggin of Valrico, Fla., Michael R. Soenksen Jr. of Pensacola, Anthony Brian Barnett of Fort Walton Bach; sisters-in-law, Bali Bourland of Aberdeen, Miss., Elizabeth Higgins of Niceville, Fla., and Wanda Barnett of West Carrollton, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at McLaughlin Mortuary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel with Stephen Olivier officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 222 Hospital Drive, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
