Terry Arnold Bryant
Master Sgt. Terry Arnold Bryant, U.S. Air Force retired, born in Amonate, Va., on Sept. 30, 1936, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in Niceville, Fla.
He honorably served his country for over 25 years, most of which was as an airborne radio operator. He was stationed in Japan, Turkey, the Panama Canal Zone, Harlingen, Texas, New Hampshire and Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., during his career.
He loved his family, country and God. After his retirement, Terry spent over 10 years happily working with Gary Miller Custom Homes. He always took great pride in any job he did.
No kinder or loving husband could be found, leaving his wife of 42 years, Colleen. Also surviving are his mother, Amanda Bryant of Tazewell, Va.; daughter, Cheri Anne Evans; son, Jonathan Bryant; granddaughter, Sarah Evans, all of Niceville; granddaughter, Miri McClung of Alexandria, Va.; brother, Donald Bryant; sister-in-law, Audrey Bryant (wife of his late brother, Jim Bryant, who preceded him in death in August) both of Tazewell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church in Niceville at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, with the Rev. Larry Corder officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville.
Floral contributions are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Terry Brant Education Trust Fund, c/o Vanguard Bank, Valparaiso, FL 32580.
A special thank you goes to all the family at Gary Miller Homes, all our brothers and sisters at Rosemont Baptist Church, Pastor Sharber Smith and all our new friends, and Pastor Larry Corder at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church.
To know Terry was to love Terry.

George B. Lilley
George B. (Burn) Lilley, age 90, of Crestview, Fla., passed away of natural causes at a local skilled care facility on Feb. 9, 2000.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1909, in Littleton, Maine, to Eben and Mary (Timms) Lilley, one of six siblings: Otis, Roy, Eva, Respa and John. Roy, age 91, lives in Houlton, Maine.
Mr. Lilley was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years. Lillian M. (McCullough) Lilley. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Dori of Niceville, Fla., and Kenneth and Beverly of Crestview; grandchildren, Lynda, Lisa M., Lisa J., Lee, Torri and Lori; and five great-grandchildren.
Burn and Lillian spent most of their lives in Scarboro, Maine, where he owned and operated "Lilley's Auto Service" for 40 years. He was considered by many as almost without peer as a mechanic.
Adhering to his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

George Arnold
George Arnold, age 75, of Holt, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Stuart, Fla., and had lived in Okaloosa County most of his life. Mr. Arnold was retired from civil service at Eglin Air Force Base and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the SS Swannee during World War II. He was a Mason, Alpha Lodge 172 F&AM; and a Shriner, Hadji Temple in Pensacola, Fla. Mr. Arnold was a member of Holt Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Arnold of Holt; children, Gary and Theresa Arnold of Crestview, Brenda and Andy Spence of Bradley, Ala., Glenda and Larry Dawson, Danny Golloher, all of Holt, Burton and Laura Golloher of Baker, Mitch and Amy Golloher, Darrell and Olen Griffith, and Chris and George Brown, all of Holt; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Holt Assembly of God with the Revs. Jeff Scurlock and Lavon Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Old Holt Cemetery. Mr. Arnold will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral services.

Margaret M. Preston
Margaret M. Preston, age 72, of Navarre, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in a local hospital.
She was born in Somerville, N.J., and was a longtime resident of south Florida but had only been a resident of this area for one year.
Mrs. Preston was preceded in death by her son, Michael Preston; and her brother, Albert Ford Jr.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Bill Norrish of Navarre; grandson, Jonathan Norrish of Binghamton, N.Y.; brother, James Ford of South Plainfield, N.J.; niece, Marianne Paris of Bound Brook, N.J.; and great-grandchildren, Damian and Nyomie Norrish of Binghamton.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, with the service to follow at 2 p.m. at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, Fla., with Chaplain Christina Stevens officiating.

Wanda Mildred Ward
Wanda Mildred Ward, age 87, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 9, 2000, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Ward was born on Nov. 25, 1912, in Summers County, W.Va. She was a resident of Fort Walton Beach for the past three years and attended Forest Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Ward graduated from Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., and worked as a registered nurse at Oak Hill and Beckley hospitals for many years. She retired in the early 1960s from Beckley Hospital.
After her retirement she worked at Emporium Jewelry Store on a part-time basis. Mrs. Ward was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Ward in 1972. She is survived by her daughter, Mildred Cole and husband the Rev. James Cole of Fort Walton Beach; grandchildren, Debbie Bowden and husband Danny of Crestview, Fla., Cathy Holland of Fort Walton Beach, and George Cole of Crestview; great-grandchildren, Tracy Mitchell and husband Brian of Chipley, Fla., Jaime Russell and husband Terry of Sullivan, Ill., Jennifer Heady and husband David of Quincy, Fla., and Timothy Bowden of Crestview; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ward's family will greet friends at Emerald Coast Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a funeral service at 6 p.m. with the Rev. David VanZandt officiating.
She will be interred in Beckley in the Blue Ridge Memorial Cemetery. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends in Beckley from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Fort Walton Beach be made to Forest Heights Baptist Church Building Fund; or those in Beckley to Memorial Baptist Church; or to a charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Wanda Mildred Ward.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road N.E., Fort Walton Beach, is in charge of local arrangements.

Vernon Rodger Tate
Vernon Rodger Tate, age 72, crossed the great divide Feb. 9, 2000, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As a wonderful husband, father and friend, he left a lasting legacy of peace and patience with all whom he came in contact.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and chemical engineer graduate of the University of Minnesota, he followed his passion as a 32-year employee of Chemstrand/Monsanto. Vern designed and developed many processes and machines for the textile industry which have improved qualify of life for many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jasper Tate and Hanna Victoria Winifred Kilmer Tate. Throughout his life and in his final moments, Vern was surrounded by his loving wife of 48 years, Beverly Tate; daughters, Janice (Jeffry) Hoff, Patricia (Robert) Sheldon; and son, Rodger (Marnie) Tate. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jason, Justin and Jennifer Tate, and Katie and Patrick Sheldon; his brother, Don (Beverly) Tate of Hillman, Minn.; sisters, Muriel (Clare) Hawley of Rochester, Minn., and Mildred Lyman of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks from the family go to Drs. Herrera and Humeda and their staffs, as well as the dialysis staff at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Memorial services will be conducted at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Pensacola at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida.

Patricia L. Hart
Patricia L. Hart of Shalimar, Fla., died Feb. 9, 2000, at the age of 71.
She is survived by her sister, Georgia Rae Rothrock of Burlingame, Calif.; daughters, Candi Carnes of South Carolina, and Heather Hart of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and her niece, Dawn Rothrock of Waterloo, Iowa. She is also survived by five granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Delores Hope All Faiths Chapel, Bob Hope Village, Shalimar, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Bettie Weed
Bettie Weed, age 81, of Palm Harbor, Fla., and formerly of Niceville, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Manor Care of Palm Harbor.
She moved from Niceville to the Clearwater, Fla., area in 1995. Bettie worked for the Red Cross, taught school, did volunteer work, and took excellent care of her husband John and their three daughters. She was a member of St. Jude's Episcopal Church in Valparaiso, Fla.
Survivors include her three daughters, Cindy Besh-Sturgeon of Anchorage, Alaska, Christy Weed of Concord, N.H., and Kelly Ogles of Safety Harbor, Fla.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Ginger Schmidt of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Inie Bressler of Killeen, Texas; and many dear friends.
Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, Palm Harbor Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Mae Horne
The Rev. Mae Horne of Crestview, Fla., passed away Wednesday night, Feb. 9, 2000, in a local hospital.
She was born in Russell County, Ala., and moved to Crestview in 1983, coming here from Milton, Fla. Sister Horne was a member of the Gospel and had been evangelizing since the age of 9. She was a member of the Assemblies of God from 1964 until 1999 and was presently a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Sister Horne had ministered in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. She served numerous local churches, including Lighthouse Assembly of God in Holt, the Matthew's Holiness Church in Crestview, and the Welcome Assembly of God in Milton.
Sister Horne was preceded in death by her parents, Ocie C. and Ruby (Jenkins) Horne; sister, Ruth Horne; and brother, William Horne.
Survivors include two sisters, Osa Sanders and Dorothy Hudman; brother, Bobby Horne, all of Phoenix City, Ala.; two everlasting friends, Juanita King and Janice Diedtrich, both of Crestview; and numerous nieces, nephews and one great-niece.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, from Crestview Church of God.
Burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Sister Horne will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral services.

John A. Clark
John "Jack" A. Clark, age 76, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local hospital on Feb. 11, 2000.
Mr. Clark was born on Dec. 8, 1923, in Lawrence, Mass., to the late Ann V. and Patrick F. Clark. He was an exceptional man who served his country nobly and diligently throughout his life. After graduating from St. Johns High School in Philadelphia in 1942, he served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force until 1964. During World War II, he served aboard a hospital ship based in London, England, and continued to serve in the Medical Corps during both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
After retiring from the Air Force he served as a police officer for the DOD Police Department at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for 20 years. He moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1991. Mr. Clark was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Police. He always voluntarily gave generously of his time to help these organizations when they needed him.
Mr. Clark is survived by his beloved dog, Brandy; stepbrother, Ed Burger of Philadelphia; children, John D. Clark of San Diego, Robert M. Clark of Tampa, Fla., Dianne L. Bainter of Fort Walton Beach, and Patrick Clark of Destin, Fla.; grandchildren, Aimee Eblen, Michael Clark, Chris Hicks, Eric Brooks, Lindsey Clark, Melissa Clark, Taylor Clark and Christina Clark; and great-granddaughter, Alyssa Eblen.
Jack is remembered and missed by his family, his special and devoted friend, Lois, and all his other many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Scott Richey Animal Health Foundation, Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine, c/o Dr. Jake Purvis DVM (Brandy's veterinarian), P.O. Box 1448, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32549.
Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 3 p.m. Saturday. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
McLaughlin Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.
