BLOUNTVILLE - Mr. Leonard Nathaniel "Nat" Baker Sr., 90, died Saturday night (Dec. 22, 2001) at National Healthcare Center of Bristol.
Mr. Baker was a member of the Blountville United Methodist Church.
He was a retired automotive salesman for Goode Motors of Bristol, and Daugherty Bros. of Gate City, Va.
He was a native of Norton, Va., and had made his home in the Bristol area for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Violet Marie Baker, Bristol; three sons, John William Baker and Ronald Lee Baker, both of Blountville, and Leonard Nathaniel Baker Jr., Bristol, Va., one sister, Dorothy Fleenor, Kingsport; two brothers, Eugene Baker, Billy Joe Baker, Bristol, Va.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Akard Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blountville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3390 Highway 126, Blountville, Tenn. 37617.

BLOUNTVILLE - Hubert Ray Beverly Jr., 45, passed away accidentally Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at his home due to a mobile home fire.

David Bledsoe, 45, Kenova, W.Va.
KENOVA, W.Va. - Services for David Issiac Bledsoe, 45, who entered into rest at his residence Thursday (Dec. 20, 2001), will be conducted at 12 noon today in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. Otto Gibson and the Rev. Kenneth Neeley officiating.
Music will be provided by the Wolf Church Singers.
Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon today at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Jasper Community Cemetery, Jasper, Va.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Naomi M. Boggs, 76, Pound, Va.
POUND, Va. - Naomi M. Boggs, 76, passed away Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, Va.
Mrs. Boggs was a member of Hamilton Chapel Church.
She was a retired clerk, having worked at the Federated Store, United Discount and Dollar Store, all in Pound.
Mrs. Boggs was preceded in death by her husband, Howie (Red) Boggs; her parents, Dile Mullins and Mattie Cantrell Mullins; three brothers, David (Olaf) Mullins, Wendell Mullins and Bill Mullins; and one sister, Anna Sue Boggs.
Surviving are six daughters, Kathy Fleming, Schererville, Ind., Greta Boggs, Abingdon, Va., Carmelia Sykes, Clintwood, Va., Vickie Easterling, Coeburn, Va., Rhonda Damushes, Lansing, Ill., and Lygia Unate, Hobart, Ind.; four sons, James (Joe) Mullins, Monty Boggs, and George Boggs, all of Pound, and Bernie Boggs, Clintwood, Va.; sisters, Ruth Boggs, Clintwood, Va., Ella Mae Barnette, Wise, Va., and Sarah Evelyn Kincer, Pound; brothers, Lowell Mullins, Hammond, Ind., Giles Mullins and Jimmy Mullins, both of Indiana; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home in Pound.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Cyphers officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Levi Cantrell Cemetery in Pound.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-laws.

Frances Tyree Copas, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Frances Tyree Copas, 1420 Garden Drive, went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon (Dec. 23, 2001) at her residence.
Friends may call at any time at the residence, 1420 Garden Drive.
Survivors and arrangements will be announced later by Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Jerry Dotson Sr., 52, Greeneville.
GREENEVILLE - Jerry Harold Dotson Sr. 52, Isley Lane, died Sunday morning (Dec. 23, 2001) at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a truck driver with Old Dominion Trucking Co., and a member of the Stillwater Church, DeBusk.
He was the son of the late Thomas William "Bill" and Audra Margaret Lane Dotson, and was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Sharon Dotson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry William Dotson and wife Kelly of Greeneville, Johnny O.C. Dotson and wife Christy of Limestone, Jerry Harold Dotson Jr. of Greeneville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jennifer K. Timberman and husband Brian, Joy Lee Hale and husband Jeff, and Vickie Ragen, all of Greeneville; six grandchildren, Izak and Jacob Dotson, Ciara Pounders, Tamara Masoner, Makayla Lawson and Kesler Smith; one sister, Pauline Quillen of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Kiser Funeral Home, Greeneville.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Doty's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gunter, the Rev. Bob Simpson and the Rev. Mark Starnes officiating.
The body will remain at the funeral home until time to go to the church for the services.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Junior Isley, Mike Quillen, Jeff Quillen, Bill Quillen, Ricky Quillen and Roger Quillen.

Vina Ellen Grey, 90, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Vina Ellen Culbertson Grey, 90, died Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at the Wellmont Hospice House after a lengthy illness.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, Va.

Geraldine Hensley, 65, Mount Carmel.
MOUNT CARMEL - Geraldine Marie Hensley, 65, passed away suddenly Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001).
Gerry was born in Kingsport and had been a resident of Mount Carmel most of her life.
Mrs. Hensley was active as a member of the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. She thoroughly enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She was retired from the Mount Carmel Elementary cafeteria after many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert Culler and Gertie Radford Culler.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Hensley; one daughter, Karen McDonald and husband Larry, Rockwood, Tenn.; two sons, Dr. David Hensley and wife Charlene, Cairo, Ga., and Mike Hensley, Mount Carmel; five grandchildren, Lauren Hensley, Sarah McDonald, Brian McDonald, Luke Hensley and Marc Hensley; one brother, Lloyd Culler and wife Marilyn, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon today at Oak Hill Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 12 noon today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Caylor and the Rev. Homer Roller officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the local American Heart Association, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, or the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

Fred Hilton, 80, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Fred Henderson Hilton, 80, passed away Sunday (Dec. 23, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Hilton was born in Scott County, Va., and had lived in Kingsport since 1951. He retired from Holston Army Ammunition Plant after more than 35 years of service.
He was a member of the former Stone Drive United Methodist Church and a current member of Crossroads United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Riddle Hilton; and his parents, Bryan and Virginia (Shelly) Hilton, Hiltons, Va.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Lisa Hilton, Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Emily and Benjamin Hilton, Mount Carmel; brother and sister-in-law, Edsel and Arbutus Hilton, Weber City, Va.; sister, Marie McKinley, Hiltons, Va.; sister-in-law, Kathleen Salyer; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown, or anytime at the home of his son, Fred Hilton Jr., 1400 Hickory Lane, Mount Carmel.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Blessing and the Rev. F.M. Bays officiating.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.

Services for Mr. Ray C. Horton, 1333 Post St., Kingsport, who died Thursday afternoon (Dec. 20, 2001), will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Calvert officiating.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the V.A. National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn.
The cortege will depart from Shiloh Baptist Church at 10 a.m.

Eugene Eckle Manis, 61, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Pastor Eugene Eckle Manis, 61, passed away Sunday (Dec. 23, 2001) after a long illness.
He was former pastor at Honeycutt Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Velva Manis; brothers, Howard (H.C.) and William (Bill) Manis.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby A. Manis; four sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Dee, Charles and Robin, Norman and Cara, all of Rogersville, and Stevie Manis of Nashville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Eugenia and Timothy Legg and Becky and Johnny Jeffers; he also claimed Nancy Bails as a daughter; three brothers and wives, George and Peggy of Maryville, Bill and Pat of Maryland, Gary and Jan of Bean Station; one sister, Velva and Tony Taylor; sisters-in-law, Marjorie, Libbie and Barbara Manis; 15 grandchildren; Bill's daughter, Tonya, mother of his two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several special friends in Christ whom he loved; McKayla loved her papaw and he loved her.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Manis, the Rev. Bob Simpson and the Rev. Bobby Bentley officiating.

J.C. Manis Jr., 46, Blountville.
BLOUNTVILLE - James Clifford (J.C.) Manis Jr., 46, went to be with his heavenly father Friday (Dec. 21, 2001) of an apparent heart attack.
J.C. was born October 17, 1955 in Sullivan County, a son of the late James Clifford Manis Sr., who passed away July 13, 1978, and Nancy (Horne) Manis Black of Blountville. J.C. was a former employee of Norfolk Southern Railway for 21 years; he was employed by Southern Building Systems.
He was a member of the B.S.A. and served as assistant scoutmaster and Popcorn Kernel.
J.C. was an active and dedicated member of Charity Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon. J.C. had faith in his Lord and his fellowman. He had love, and was a forgiving, sincere and kind person whose smiling face brought joy to those he touched. He was a dedicated husband, dad, grandfather (to a very special grandson whom he loved dearly), brother and son.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Bryant Manis, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Reneé and Wes Carmody; a son, Michael Manis; special grandson, Benjamin Carmody; mother, Nancy (Horne) Manis Black; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Gene Thacker, Vinette and Dennis Christian; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Sara Manis; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nolan and Dorothy Bryant; half brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Linda Manis; half sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Ray Whitaker; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Cleek officiating.
Burial and graveside service will follow in the garden of faith of the East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Danny Garst, Donnie Snapp, Dee Booher, Brian Depew, Perry Whitaker, Brady Jarrells, Ronald Cameron and Scott Wesche.

Anna McLain, 78, Baileyton.
BAILEYTON - Anna McLain, 78, passed away Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at Sunbridge Hillside in Kingsport after an extended illness.
She attended Van Hill Freewill Baptist Church, and was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ransy L. McLain Sr.; her parents, Arthur E. Wolfe and Myrtle (Tilson) Wolfe; sister, Geneva Odell Wolfe; and infant brother, Gordon Wolfe.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, R.L. and Nora McLain Jr., Surgoinsville, and Charles Arthur and Darlene McLain, Greeneville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lula Mae and Arthur Bradley, Kingsport, Donna Rose and Gary Callahan, Kingsport, and Mary Ellen and Ken Bailey, Greeneville; two sisters, Ruby McLain, Baileyton, and Eutella Fink, Greeneville; grandchildren, Lisa Cowan, Bristol, Rita Meade and Amy Calhoun, both of Kingsport, Charles McLain Jr., Connecticut, Rebecca Sauceman, Greeneville, Karen Bailey, Dalton, Ga., Julie Stanifer, Ottway, and Amanda Bailey, Greeneville; stepgrandchildren, April and Jennifer Callahan; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

John Mooneyhan, 48, Keokee, Va.
KEOKEE, Va. - John Michael Mooneyhan, 48, Route 1, Reeds Creek community, died Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at his home.
Born in Lee County, Va., he had lived there his entire life. He was a disabled coal miner and a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the St. Church of God, St. Charles, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy (Sleepy) and Lillie Thomas Mooneyhan; one sister, Shirley Ann Woliver; and one nephew.
Surviving are his wife, Becky Napier Mooneyhan, of the home; sons, Casey and wife Katie Mooneyhan, of Blackwater, Va., and Nicholas Mooneyhan, of Pennington Gap, Va.; daughters, Naomi and husband Martin Church, of Dryden, Va., Arielle Mooneyhan, of the home; two grandchildren, Mikenzie Mooneyhan, of Blackwater, Va., Faith Church, of Dryden, Va.; brothers, LeRoy and wife Arlene Mooneyhan, of Anderson, Ind., James Edward and wife Shirley Mooneyhan, of Kirklin, Ind., Eugene and wife Jeanette Mooneyhan, of Pennington Gap, Va., Phillip and wife Sally Mooneyhan, of Waterloo, N.Y.; sisters, his twin sister, Mary Louise and husband Don Sexton, of Woodway, Va., Barbara and Ronnie McFarland, of Woodway, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

David Kevin Perry, 38, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - David Kevin Perry, 38, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at 1 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) in Hobart, Australia,
Born in Sullivan County (Kingsport), he attended Kingsley Elementary and Ketron Middle School and graduated from Gospel Assembly Christian Academy.
He was employed by the Princess Cruise Lines, and was a member of Mercy Seat Ministries.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Perry; and paternal grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Carl Voorhees.
Survivors include his mother, Ramona Jean Reeves Perry, Kingsport; one sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca Michaelle Perry Luke and husband, Uday, Kingsport; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael Benjamin Perry and wife, Regina, Kingsport; one nephew, Jordan Samuel Clark Luke, Kingsport.
Arrangements are incomplete.

He was born in Sullivan County and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
Mr. Surcey was a member of State Line Baptist Church, and was self-employed.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Elizabeth Surcey; one son, Gary K. Surcey and his wife Carolyn Surcey, Kingsport; one grandchild, Brad Surcey; and one sister, Ruby Keith, Kingsport.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tony Gonzalas and the Rev. Lonnie Wooten Jr. officiating.
