ALLEN, Texas - Patsy Barker, 66, formerly of Clinchport, Va., died Tuesday (Sept. 11, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital in Allen.

James O. Belcher, 72, Pound, Va.
POUND, Va. - James O. (Teddy) Belcher, 72, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001) in Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Va.
Mr. Belcher was a member of the Pound Masonic Lodge No. 59 AF&AM. He was a member of the Shriners.
Mr. Belcher was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Belcher; his parents, Bart Belcher and Bettie Mullins Belcher; and three brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta B. Mullins Belcher, Pound; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Freddy Dotson, Pound; sister, Betty Jo Belcher, Middleton, Va.; brother, William R. (Bill) Belcher, Pound; grandchildren, David Allen Belcher, Brian Wayne Dotson, Melissa R. Dotson and John Michael Belcher; great-grandchild, Michael Allen Belcher.
Calling hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. today in Baker Funeral Home, Pound.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Mullins officiating.
Entombment will be in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Va.

Wrightly Darnell Sr., 81, Norton, Va.
NORTON, Va. - Wrightly Cecil Darnell Sr., 81, went to be with the Lord, Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001).
He was a lifelong resident of Dorchester, Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II from 1942 to 1945.
He was a licensed practical nurse, having retired from Appalachian Regional Healthcare with 34 years of dedicated care of the sick and injured.
He was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Dorchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Victor and Polly Darnell; and a son, Dwight Douglas Darnell.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Williams Darnell, of the home; daughters, Angela Fitzgerald, Big Stone Gap, Va., Patricia Sutton, Lancaster, Ky., Cecile Ramsey, Elwood City, Pa., and Lisa Thacker, Roanoke, Va.; son, W.C. Darnell Jr., Wise, Va.; sisters, Esther Congo, Johnson City, and Berniece Brummitte, Collinsville, Va.; brother, Victor Darnell Jr., Stewart, Va.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, Va.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. John McFalls and the Rev. Wayne Scott officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Orville Fink, 93, Jonesborough.
JONESBOROUGH - Orville Clayborn Fink, 93, of 1786 Fordtown Road, went home on Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001), after a lengthy battle with cancer, to be with the Lord and loved ones who had gone on before him.
He retired from TEC in 1963 due to a heart attack. He was an active member of Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church. He had served as a deacon, Sunday School superintendent, and a teacher at both Eastern Star and Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Hinkle Fink; parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Fink; and brothers, Opel and Otis Fink.
Left behind to cherish his memories are daughters and sons-in-law, Ina Kate and Clarence "Wimpy" Grills, Jonesborough, Mae and Clay Fink, Jonesborough, Louise and John Shaffer, South Rockwood, Mich., Wanda and Bill Bentley, Fordtown; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Lula Fink, Kingsport, Dale and Dot Fink, Jonesborough, Jimmy and Debbie Fink, Kingsport; brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Louise Fink, Kingsport; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a devoted niece and caretaker, Hazel Foster; several other nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, and anytime at the home at 1786 Fordtown Road.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor George Winegar officiating.
Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
Pallbearers are Martin Hale, Reed Hale, O.M. Chase Jr., Warren Vicars, Larry Wilson and Cecil Head.

Charles H. Hatfield, 88, Gate City, Va.
GATE CITY, Va. - Charles Howard Hatfield, 88, of 495 East Jackson Street, departed this life early Friday evening (Sept. 14, 2001) at his residence.
He was a native of Woodson, Ill., and a disabled World War II veteran. Mr. Hatfield was a member of the DAV, a member of Midway Baptist Church, and was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Kate Hillman Hatfield; son, Michael Anthony Hatfield; and parents, Arthur H. Hatfield and Minnie Mae McGath Hatfield.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Norbert Isla, Gate City; son and daughter-in-law, James and Barbara Hatfield, Nickelsville, Va.; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Kathy Hatfield, Hiltons, Va., Charles Rayford and wife, Misty Hatfield, Hiltons, Va., Hope Hatfield, Johnson City, Charity Hatfield, Nickelsville, Va., Gilbert Isla and Robert Isla, both of Blacksburg, Va., and Tiffany Isla, Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Zachary Hatfield, Samatha Hatfield and Destiny Hatfield.

Mary Ann McClellan, 89, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Services for Mary Ann Campbell McClellan, 89, who died Friday morning (Sept. 14, 2001), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home with Elder Ezra Davis, Elder Keith Bowers and Elder Chad Crawford officiating.

Fred Parsons, 76, Pennington Gap, Va.
PENNINGTON GAP, Va. - Fred Parsons, 76, passed away Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001) at the residence of his daughter, Carol and Terry Woodard, in Pennington Gap.
He was born in Lee County, Va., and had resided there his entire life. He was a retired coal miner and tipple operator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II as a Staff Sgt.
He was a member of the Admant Baptist Church in Pennington Gap.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Parsons; parents, Roy and Grace Bailey Parsons; half brother, Jimmy Galloway.
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Woodard and husband Terry, Pennington Gap; granddaughter, April Woodard, Pennington Gap; brother, Paul Parsons, Jonesville, Va.; sister, Ellen Shuler, West Virginia; special aunt, Ruth Surber; and special caregiver, Jo Ellen Robbins.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home of Pennington Gap.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home sanctuary with the Rev. Randy Aldridge and the Rev. Jim Craig officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. Military rites will be conducted by the Charles Dewitt Byrd VFW Post No. 3382 of Kingsport.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. for the service.

Edward Waterman, 85, Lebanon, Va.
LEBANON, Va. - Edward Hunter Waterman, 85, of the Belfast community, passed away on Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001) in a Lebanon, Va., hospital.
He served in the Army during World War II in the Philippines and in Okinawa, Japan.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Edward was the son of the late Edward Levi and Cora Lillian Waterman. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by special loved ones, Gailen and Ethel Cox, Garland and Gayle Cox and girls; special friends, Thelma Ballenburger and Ivy Parks; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the Lebanon Funeral Home Chapel, Lebanon, Va., with the Rev. Carroll Ferguson officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gunnings Cemetery in Blountville.
Pallbearers will be Robert Carpenter, James Cox, Mike Lowe, Kenneth Mutter, David Cox and Gailen Cox.

Josie Alderson, 81, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Josephine K. Ramsey "Josie" Alderson, 81, of Woodmont Ave., passed away Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at her residence.
She was born in Dickenson County, Va., and moved to Kingsport in 1964.
She was a member of Morrison City Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Alderson; her parents, Daniel Ramsey and Hannah Blair Ramsey; two sisters, Agnes White and Lurie McKinney; and one brother, Evan Ramsey.
Surviving are her daughter, Nina Myers and husband Garry, Kingsport; sons, Eugene C. Alderson Jr. and wife Dora, Fairmont, W.Va., Roger Alderson and wife Mary, Summerville, S.C., Larry Alderson and wife Sue, Elizabethton, and David Alderson, Kingsport; sisters, Esther Brooks, Arbutus Goins, Lockie Kilburn, Louvenia Austin, all of Kingsport, Pansy Edwards, Knoxville, Edra Riner, Abingdon, Va., and Margie Duncan Clinchco, Va.; her special friends, Ruth Hensley, Monnie Baker, Sue Leach and Diane Rorrer; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 E. Church Circle, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660, or to the Alzheimer Center of East Tennessee Inc., Kingsport, Tenn.

Joe Baines, 75, Gray.
GRAY - Billy Joe Baines, 75, passed away with leukemia on Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Washington County, he was a son of the late Willie E. and Pearl Ford Baines. He retired from ETSU and did volunteer work for the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
Mr. Baines was a Christian.
He was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, member of Sinking Creek Masonic Lodge No. 575 of Gray, and Scottish Rite Bodies of Knoxville. He was also a member of the Jericho Temple of Kingsport and was a member of the director's staff in the Shriners.
Mr. Baines was a mall walker and also enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda "Nip" Baines, Feb. 2001; and sister, Wilma Walker, Nov. 6, 2001; and two infant brothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Jane Smith and husband Lyle, of Gray; son, Eddie and wife Pam, also of Gray; two grandsons, Jason Baines, and Eddie and wife Michelle Baines; one stepgranddaughter and stepgrandson-in-law, Michelle and David Dixon; one great-grandson, Ethan Baines; and one stepgreat-grandson, Eli Dixon; brother, Niles Baines, of Gray; a host of friends; and his true friend and hearing aid, Bullet.
The committal service will be Friday in the Gray Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge No. 575.
Gray Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Nellie Bowen, 78, Duffield, Va.
DUFFIELD, Va. - Nellie Bowen, 78, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at Indian Path Medical Center.

DUNGANNON, Va. - Services for John Wayne Bush, 66, who entered into eternal rest Monday (Nov. 19, 2001), will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Taylor and the Rev. G.W. White officiating.
Music will be provided by the Lee Smith Singers.

CHURCH HILL - James F. Carroll, 86, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 20, 2001) at Indian Path Hospital.
He was born in Sullivan County and lived most of his life there.
Mr. Carroll was retired from Eastman Kodak. He enjoyed fishing and was an active charter member since 1953 of Lynn Garden Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He served as Elder Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evangeline Carroll; his parents, Nancy and Matthew Carroll; two brothers, Bill and Joe Carroll; daughters-in-law, Donna Carroll and Carol Ann Carroll.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Mabel Carroll; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Jack Rohr, Bristol, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Martha Carroll, Michael Carroll, David (Tom) and Betty Carroll, all of Church Hill; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Steve Fields, Church Hill, Donna and Dan Fleenor, Church Hill; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillie Ketron, Kingsport, Virgie Mae Click, Church Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Emmitt Dingus, 71, Duffield, Va.
DUFFIELD, Va. - Emmitt Wilmer Dingus, 71, went to be with the Lord Tuesday (Nov. 20, 2001).
He was born in Scott County, Va., on May 21, 1930 and was the son of the late Bob Dingus and Cordia Bishop Dingus. He was retired from Reynolds Uniform Rentals and had worked for five years at Warren Funeral Home.
Mr. Dingus was a member of Pendleton Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Mae Dingus; four brothers, Charlie, Troy, Roy and Orbin Dingus.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Turner Dingus, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Hank and Patricia Dingus, Clinchport, Va., David and Melissa Dingus, Weber City, Va., Wilmer and Cathy Dingus, Kingsport; sisters, Rosa Vicars and Kate Chase, both of Kingsport, Bobbie Sanders, Sue Puckett, Mary Carter, Faye Hall, Nellie Watson and Helen Lawson, all of Ft. Blackmore, Va.; brothers, John Dingus, Kingsport, Jim Dingus and Bill Dingus, both of Ft. Blackmore, Va.; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Edward Fleming, 69, Uvalde, Texas.
UVALDE, Texas - Edward Fleming, 69, died at Uvalde Memorial Hospital Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001).
A native of Dickenson County, he was a retired coal miner. He was the son of the late Ralph and Cora Fleming. His parents and a sister, Bobby Jean, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Fleming, Uvalde, Texas; two sons, Terry N. Fleming, Church Hill, and Chris Fleming, Mount Carmel; two daughters, Deborah Crabtree, Bristol, Va., and Veronica Jennings, Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Lewis Fleming and wife, Peggy, Clintwood, Va.; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are after 12 noon Saturday at Clintwood Bible Church.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with ministers Mike Yates and Theo Yates officiating.
Burial will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Va.

Lorena R. Haney, 76, Lehigh Acres, Fla.
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Lorena (Tina) Rutledge Haney, 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at her residence.
She was a resident of Lehigh Acres for the last nine years, but had resided in Kingsport most of her life. She retired from Palace Vending after many years of service.
Mrs. Haney was of the Methodist faith.
Her parents, Mary Hackney and Mac Wilhoit and one son, Larry Lane, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, John W. (Bill) Haney, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; one daughter, Tana Jones and husband, Dickie, Rogersville; one son, Keith Lane, Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown, is in charge of the arrangements.

Dale Hensley Jr., 69, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Dale Hensley Jr., 69, of 433 Belle Hollow Road, passed away Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) at the Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
Dale was born Feb. 10, 1932 in Kingsport, a son of the late Harry Dale and Edna Hensley. He was retired from Roberts Tire and Recapping Company of Weber City, Va.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Louise S. Reynolds Hensley.
Surviving are his daughters, Dana Cruickshank, Ortonville, Mich., and Penny Harrison, Kingsport; a son, Danny Hensley, Kingsport; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jo Grills, Church Hill, Sue Jones, Kingsport, and Louise Peters, Greeneville; brothers, Gene Hensley and Jim Hensley, both of Kingsport, Wayne Hensley, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the East Lawn Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Adam Knight officiating.
Entombment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the East Lawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum.

Mary E. Lester, 67, Bristol, Va.
BRISTOL, Va. - Mary E. Lester, 67, died Tuesday (Nov. 20, 2001) at her home.
A native of Hawkins County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lillie Jones Christian. She moved to Bristol in the 1960's and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Lester was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law.
Included in survivors are a daughter, Lisa Franklin, Bristol, Va.; five sons, Phillip Buchanan, Belmont, N.C., Tony Williams Sr., Charles Williams, Jerry Williams Sr. and Troy Buchanan, all of Bristol, Va.; three brothers; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blevins Funeral Home, Bristol, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the graveside in Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Richard N. Hale officiating.
