Joyce Ann Bowser, 67, Gray.
GRAY - Joyce Ann Bowser, 67, 576 Buckingham Road, went peacefully to be with the Lord Friday (Sept. 6, 2002) at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Joyce was born on Jan. 29, 1935 in Scott County, Va. She moved with her family to Kingsport in 1950 and was a 1953 graduate of Lynn View High School.
She was of the Christian faith. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Audley Babb; mother, Elva Naomi Hall Babb; infant brother, Leon; infant sister, Brenda; sister, Darlene Bruner; brother, Perry Babb; sister, Glenna Wheat; infant daughter, Alice Kate.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, James D. (Donal) Bowser; two sons, Michael James and Duane Scott; one daughter, Donna Annette, all of Gray; two very special grandchildren, Andy Scott Bowser and Ashley Suzanne Bowser; three sisters, Ruth (Virgil) Arnold, Marlene (Morrison) Manis, Marcella (Raymond) Cavin, all of Kingsport; four brothers, Gary Kay Babb, Ira Jackson Babb, Lucian Audley Babb and Sidney Phillip Babb, all of Kingsport; one very dear niece, Janice Deakins; and special friend, Margie Hale of Gray who have given great support to our family; several nieces and nephews.
A very special thanks to Melissa Scheurer RN and the Hospice Team for their help and support over the last two weeks.
Calling hours were from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Gray Funeral Home, Gray.
Services were conducted at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Gene Lasley officiating and assisted by the Rev. Jody Jenkins.
Music was furnished by Nathan Salyers.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Junior Babb, Billy Babb, Anthony Babb, Dale Deakins, Dan Deakins, Doug Deakins, Lynn Bowser and Steve Bowser.

Warner Brickey, 80, Weber City, Va.
Military graveside services for Warner Everette Brickey, 80, Weber City, Va., who entered into rest Sunday (Sept. 8, 2002), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va., by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. The family will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be D.W Tipton, Ronnie Brickey, Greg Brickey, Richard Duncan, Billy D. Kilgore and Albert N. McElroy.

Patsy R. Chaffin, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Patsy Ruth Chaffin, of Kingsport, who answered the call of the Lord bidding her to come home on Saturday (Sept. 7, 2002), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today. Family and friends are invited to meet at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Diana T. Hammitt, 43, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Diana Teague Hammitt, 43, of 4000 Lake Forest Drive, Kingsport, who went to be with her Lord Friday (Sept. 6, 2002), will be at 11 a.m. today with Pastor Ron Haun officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. at the East Lawn Memorial Park in the garden of the Mausoleum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Moody, Joey Hickman, Gene Mire, Tom Baker, Ray Wenger, Charlie Hammitt, Wesley Storey and Randy Campbell.

Clell Joyce, 90, Duffield, Va.
KINGSPORT - Clell Vernon Joyce, 90, of East Center Street, died Saturday (Sept. 7, 2002) after a lengthy illness.
Born in Scott County, Va., he had spent most of his life in Florida, returning to Kingsport eight years ago. He was a veteran having served in the Army Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Joyce; and mother, Eva Joyce.
Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Mervin (Lillian) Sally, Kingsport; son, Hagan V. Joyce and wife Bennie, Kingsport; sister, Lorraine Shaw, Grants Pass, Oreg.; five granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral home, Weber City, Va., and anytime at the son's residence.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Spivey officiating.
Burial will be at the VA National Cemetery, Mt. Home, Tenn., with military graveside services conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 of the VFW.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Winegar, Tommy Moore, Dave Burke, Randall Spivey, Gary More and Raymond Joyce.

Franklin N. Kincaid, 76, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Franklin Nathaniel Kincaid Sr., 76, of Rogersville, born Nov. 7, 1925, went to be with "Our Heavenly Father" on Saturday (Sept. 7, 2002) after a brief illness.
Franklin was well-known and very active in church and civic organizations. He was chairman of the Deacon Board of Hasson Street Christian Church, All Brothers in Christ, commander of the American Legion Post No. 231 and held several offices in the Masonic Lodge Universal 239. He also served overseas in World War II. He had been retired from the Kingsport Press since 1985.
Surviving are his wife, Jennie Mae (Payne) Burton Kincaid of 52 years. Other survivors include three sons, Bobby Burton Sr., of Kingsport, Frankie Kincaid Jr. of Morristown, and Earl Kincaid of Egan, Minn.; four daughters, Sharon Shade of Warrensburg, Mo., Kathy Gillett and Donna Wheeler of Rogersville, and Renee Bethea of Covington, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Kinkead; three sisters, Doris Jean Fulkerson, Cecile Blevins and Jennie Lou Banks; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Bell Charles; father, Nelson Francisco; stepmother, Katherine Francisco; brothers, Earl Francisco and Andrew Kincaid; and mother-in-law, Fannie Lou Payne.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hasson Street Christian Church with the Rev. La Marco Cable officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mitchell Crest Cemetery with miltiary graveside services conducted by Hawkins County Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may leave memory donations for Price Public School or Hasson Street Christian Church. Donations may be left at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Minnie Mabe, 93, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - Minnie Virginia Mabe, 93, passed away Saturday (Sept. 7, 2002) at her residence. Her family was at her bedside.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, who will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Mabe; two sisters and five brothers.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Sue and Robert Hare, Church Hill, Joy and Jim Brossia, Louisiana, Mo., and Jerri and Joe Good, Gate City, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Nancy Mabe, Fall Branch; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Gee Childress.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, Va., or anytime at the residence of Joe and Jerri Good, Gate City, Va.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wallace Amos officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glencoe Cemetery. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Verna McMurray, 83, Hiltons, Va.
Graveside services for Verna Irene L. McMurray, 83, of Route 1, Hiltons, Va., who departed this life late Friday (Sept. 6, 2002), will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today in Gardeners Cemetery, Hiltons. The family will meet at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. to go to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hiltons United Methodist Church building fund, P.O. Box 10, Hiltons, Va. 24258.

Karen Griffith Owens, 35, Cookeville, Tenn.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Karen Griffith Owens, 35, died Sunday (Sept. 8 2002) at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born in Erwin, Tenn., she was a homemaker and a member of Algood First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Bryant K. Owens of Cookeville, Tenn.; son, Logan G. Owens of Cookeville; her godchild, Karen N. Cutler; her parents, Paul D. and Jean Harding Griffith, Erwin; and several aunts and uncles.
Calling hours are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Algood First Baptist Church.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the church with Brother Matt Jones officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Roselawn Cemetery in Johnson City.

Eva Parks, 79, Nickelsville, Va.
Services for Eva Miller Parks, 79, Nickelsville, Va., who went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon (Sept. 7, 2002) will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., with the Rev. Mack Daugherty, the Rev. Kenneth Kiser and the Rev. G.W. White officiating. Music will be provided by the Smith Trio, Ted Smith and Rita Keith.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Va. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go to the cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Cassell, Jason Parks, Dale Sanders, Gregory Ray, Chucky Davis, Josh Daugherty, Anthony Parks and Buford Parks.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons and great-grandsons.

Donald Schuster, 78, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Donald B. Schuster, 78, Sandy Valley Raod, passed away Sunday (Sept. 8, 2002) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was a natural gas and petroleum engineer, having worked in South America and Europe for numerous oil companies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gladys Schuster; stepmother, Beryl Schuster; and daughter, Joyce Schuster.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Lou Growel Schuster, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Connie Schuster, Green Springs, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Howard French, Rogersville; three grandchildren, Jason French, Johnson City, Jill Smith, Newberry, Mich., and Brandi Schuster, Green Springs, Ohio; one stepgrandson, Todd French and wife Renee, Rogersville; and one great-grandson.
There will no memorial service at this time.
Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville is in charge of the arrangements.

Bessie M. Webster, Big Stone Gap, Va.
BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Bessie M. Webster passed away Sunday (Sept. 8, 2002) at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap.
Arrangements are incomplete.
Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, is serving the Webster family.
