KINGSPORT - Services for Paula Jo Coates, 44, who passed away Friday (July 19, 2002), will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry W. Hight Jr. and Pastor James T. Adcox officiating.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church, 301 Virgil Avenue, Kingsport, Tenn. 37665.

Robert Collins Jr., 54, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Robert "Robbie" Collins Jr., 54, of 407 Short Street, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (July 20, 2002).
He was a Vietnam veteran. He loved to read and enjoyed cycling.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Collins Sr.; mother, Margaret Collins Jenkins; stepfather, Silas Jenkins; brother, Eddie Collins; nephew, Chris Collins; and brother, Roger Jenkins.
Surviving are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Johnnie Bolling and husband James, Morristown, Carolyn Henry and husband Tony, Kingsport, Billie Hilton and husband John, Kingsport; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy Jenkins and wife Pat, Silas Jenkins and wife Tammy, and Ricky Jenkins, all of Kingsport; sisters-in-law, Betty Collins and Diane Jenkins; aunt, Ada Wright and husband Paris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Morelock officiating.
Graveside services will be immediately following the service at Tri-Cities Memory Garden.

Helen M. Dillow, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Helen M. Dillow went to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday (July 21, 2002) at 11:30 a.m. at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Helen was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church and a member of the Greater Kingsport Women's Republican Party.
She was employed with Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for 25 years.
Surviving are a brother, John Paul Dillow, Kingsport; sisters, Ann Dillow Douglas, Kingsport, and Betty Dillow Brumitt, Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Forest Christian Church with Scott Tageson, Minister, and Dr. Ed Clevinger officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Clinic, Heart Research, Rochester, Minn.

Graveside services for Ellen Summey Dingus, 69, Ft. Blackmore, Va., who entered into rest Thursday (July 18, 2002), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at the Begley Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, Va. The family will be meeting at the cemetery for services.

Dorsia Mae Fleming, 94, Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE - Services for Dorsia Mae Fleming, 94, formerly of Kingsport, Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City, who died Friday (July 19, 2002), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dave Cordrey officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service.
Entombment will be in the Oak Hill Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Johnny Roller, Frankie Roller, Greg Roller, Joe Fleming Jr., Scott Fleming, Kenny Fleming and Reagan Campbell.

Patsy Hall, 53, Gate City, Va.
Services for Patsy Hall, 53, Gate City, Va., who entered into rest Friday (July 19, 2002), will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Sloan and the Rev. Pat Hammonds officiating. Music will be provided by the Midway Quartet and Jeff Crigger.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends anytime at the residence of her sister, Morella Duncan, Yuma, Va.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sloantown Cemetery in the Sloantown community of Scott County, Va.
The family will be meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the graveside service.
Kenny Wininger, Otis Wages, Greg Sloan, Roger Duncan, Randy Duncan, Rodney Duncan, Ricky Sloan, Michael Sloan and Clell Williams will serve as pallbearers.

Allen Hendrickson, 63, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - James Allen Hendrickson, 63, died Saturday (July 20, 2002) at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, he served from 1956 to 1960 with the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of ETSU and received a master's degree from Ole Miss.
He was a member of Colonial Heights Christian Church.
Mr. Hendrickson was assistant principal at Blountville Middle School before becoming principal of Rock Springs Elementary School. He worked for the Sullivan County School System for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
He served on the Bays Mountain Park Commission, 911 Emergency Board and the Sullivan County Industrial Board. He was a life member of the Sullivan County Rescue Squad, life member of the Parent Teachers Association, and a County Commissioner for 10 years. He was a member of TASSA, NEA, TEA, SCEA and ETEA.
His parents, John and Georgia Hendrickson; and brother, Mark Douglas Hendrickson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Laurleen Hendrickson of the home; one daughter, Jill Allyn Cunningham, Kingsport; stepdaughter, Sherry Light, Knoxville; stepson, Brian Light and wife Brooke, Kingsport; and one sister, Toni Smith and husband Lonnie, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Heights Christian Church.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the church with Richard Carpenter, Minister, and Pastor Alan Buckles officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be Don Smith, Charlie Cole, Harold Martin, John McLellan, Jud Brownwell, Jim Thetford, Roger Marshall and Jim Droke.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Dickerson, Dr. Thomas Brock, Dr. Erwin Hire, Dr. Chip Helms, Gene Herron, Vance Pope, Starling Lawson, members who served with Allen from the Sullivan County Commission, Sullivan County Rescue Squad, administrators, teachers and staff personnel who he worked with over the past 30 years with the Sullivan County School System, his good friends and supporters from Rock Springs Elementary School, Christian brothers and sisters at Colonial Heights Christian Church and Springdale Baptist Church.

Sylvia Kilgore, 65, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Sylvia Emslie Kilgore, 65, Shelby St., went to be with the Lord Saturday (July 20, 2002) in the emergency room of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Vermont, she had made her home in Kingsport for over 25 years. She was retired from the State of Tennessee and was a registered nurse with the Sullivan County Health Department.
She was a member of Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Emslie and Verna Pye Emslie.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William Scott Kilgore and wife Tammy Kilgore, Church Hill; one granddaughter, Chenoa Graham Kilgore, Church Hill; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call anytime at the residence of the son, Scott Kilgore, 141 Fern Street, Church Hill.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Carter-Trent Funeral Home.

Beatrice Lane, 75, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Beatrice Browning Lane, 75, formerly of 1914 Derting St., went to be with the Lord Sunday (July 21, 2002) at the Wexford House.
Survivors and arrangements are incomplete.

Julia Lauderback, 15-months-old, Athens, Ala.
ATHENS, Ala. - Julia Hope Lauderback, 15-months-old, passed away Saturday (July 20, 2002) in Athens.

Thomas J. McQueen, 60, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Thomas J. McQueen, 60, went home to be with the Lord Friday (July 19, 2002) after an extended illness.
He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. McQueen and Theda K. McQueen; one brother, Ray H. McQueen.
Surviving are his brother, Dan McQueen and wife Judy, Kingsport; sister-in-law, Connie McQueen, Kingsport; two nieces and one nephew, Amy Taylor and husband Kenny, Melissa Culbertson and husband Rusty, Hank McQueen and wife Jenny; two great-nephews and one great-niece, Peyton and Meggan Taylor, Jacob McQueen; a step-niece, Sherry Pinkert; and a step-great-nephew, Nathan Marlowe.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, or any time at the home of a niece, Amy Taylor, 1457 Belmont Drive, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Glenda Sue Miller, 53, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Glenda Sue Pearcy Miller, 53, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday (July 21, 2002) at her home following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Glenda was born in Sullivan County and lived in Kingsport her entire life. She attended Lynn View High School and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School.
She was a previous member of the Holston Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Prior to her illness she was employed by Caldwell Banker Real Estate.
Glenda was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church and attended Gravely Baptist Church.
he was preceded in death by her mother, Teeny Sutherland Pearcy; and her father Echol E. Pearcy.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Claude Miller of the home; daughter, Lisa Hurd and husband Gerald, Mount Carmel; grandsons Colby, Avery and Grayson Hurd; sisters, Margaret Crawford and husband Glenn, Kathy White and husband Charles; brothers, Harold "Bud" Pearcy and wife Sandy, Dennis Mike Pearcy, and Tracy Pearcy and wife Debbie, all of Kingsport; nieces, Heather Doub and Sonya Baker; nephews, Steve Crawford, Travis Crawford and Lance Pearcy.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Salley and Rev. A. Richard Ratliff officiating.

Lula Mitchell, 82, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Lula Elizabeth Taylor Mitchell, 82, passed away Sunday (July 20, 2002) at Sunbridge Hillside Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in the Rye Cove community of Scott County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Miles E. and Carrie Davidson Taylor.
She was a former employee of J. Fred Johnson Department Store and was also a CNA with Holston Valley Hospital.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Mitchell; stepson, Stanley Mitchell; sister, Dorothy Madison; and brothers, Herbert and Ed Taylor.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Sue Martin, Kingsport; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Lisa Mitchell, Wayne and Janie Taylor, all of Kingsport; stepson and daughter-in-law, Stanford Mitchell and wife Nellie, Kingsport; grandson, Austin Chase Mitchell; stepgrandchildren, Valerie Moore, Billy Moore, Jason Moore, Sandy Sykes, Linda Mitchell and Regina Hutchins; step-great-grandchildren, Carly Hutchins and Christian Moore; sister, Reba Williams, Gate City, Va.; brothers, Jack Taylor, Clinchport, Va., Joe Taylor, Church Hill, J.B. Durham, Kingsport, Irvin Taylor, Gate City, Va., and Kenneth Taylor, Chantilly, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Services for Sue E. Parson, 75, Kingsport, who went to be with the Lord on Friday (July 19, 2002), will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the chapel of Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, with the Rev. Jerry L. Northam and the Rev. Mitch McClure officiating.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the V.A. National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn.
Family and friends attending the service are requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m.

Paula M. Solomon, 57, Elizabethton.
ELIZABETHTON - Paula M. Solomon, 57, 805 Cedar Avenue, died Saturday (July 20, 2002) at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Sullivan County, Mrs. Solomon lived most of her life in Carter County. She was the daughter of the late William Paul and Lovely Marie Lyon Solomon.
Mrs. Solomon was of the Methodist faith.
She was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Carter County schools and the Lift Academy. She was also a homebound teacher for 14 years.
Mrs. Solomon graduated from Lynn View High School, Kingsport, in 1962 and graduated from ETSU in 1980 with a B.A. in education. She was the co-founder of the Carter County Literacy Program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robin Wayne Forbes, March 1999.
Survivors include a special brother-in-law and spouse, Roger and Mary Forbes, Elizabethton; special friends and soul mates, Linda and Bill Bowling, Rita Ford and Lisa Botts, all of Elizabethton, and Jo Volcker, Bristol, Tenn.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Holly officiating.
Private disposition will be held at a later date.
