JOHNSON CITY - Graveside services for Christine Barnes Bacon, 64, 3209 Bristol Hwy., who died Tuesday (Sept. 3 , 2002), will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Monte Vista Burial Park. Dr. Ronald F. Murray will officiate.
Calling hours are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, Johnson City, and then go in procession to the cemetery for the service.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Miss Grace Davis, 99, Jonesville, Va.
JONESVILLE, Va. - Miss Grace Davis, 99, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002) at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va.
She was born May 29, 1903 to Alexander Ewing Davis and Rose Sergent Davis.
She was a member of Russell Chapel United Methodist Church of Jonesville, Va. and the United Methodist Women. Miss Davis was a charter member of the Jonesville Women's Club and Jonesville Senior Citizens. She was a founding member of MEOC and served on the board of Mountain Empire Community College.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, American Cancer Society and AARP. She was featured as "Folk You Should Know" in the Bristol Herald Courier for all her volunteer work in the region. On many occasions, she had lobbied for rights of Senior Citizens in Richmond, Va. and was active in the Lee County Democratic Party. In 1989, Miss Grace received the "Governor's Award for Voluntary Excellence" in Richmond, Va.
Miss Grace was foremost an educator who helped many students get an education. She was educated in Lee County, Va. and attended Radford University and received her undergraduate degree from Peabody College and received a masters degree from University of Virginia Charlottesville, Va. Miss Grace taught school in Botetourt County, then in Lee County for over 50 years. After her retirement, she taught home bound students and Drivers Education to Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sheridan, Bill and John Davis; and one sister, Katherine D. Higginson.
Surviving are a sister, Eva D. Rush, Jonesville, Va.; one nephew, Jim Davis, Florida; two nieces, Peggy Lord, Towson, Md., and Rose Payne, Abingdon, Va.; three great-nieces and four great-nephews; nine great-great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home, Jonesville, Va.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Russell Chapel United Methodist Church in Jonesville, Va., with Judge Glen Williams and Ben Davidson giving the eulogy and the Rev. John Rash officiating.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews: Scott, Todd and Chad Minor, Fred Davis, Mark Harless and John Harris.

David Dingus, 37, Weber City, Va.
WEBER CITY, Va. - Graveside services for David Dingus, 37, who passed away Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2002), will be at 11 a.m. today at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his co-workers.

COEBURN, Va. - Gregory Emmitt Funk, 52, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002) at St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, Va.
He was a retired merchant and attended the Trinity Life Center, Coeburn.
Surviving are his parents, Alex and Dixie Funk, Coeburn, Va.; a daughter, Angela Cvetkovski, Abingdon, Va.; four sons, Alex Funk, Atlanta, Ga., Jerrod Funk, Sarasota, Fla., Nicholas Funk, Atlanta, Ga., and Heath Funk, Big Stone Gap, Va.; granddaughter, Truman Elizabeth Hawks, Abingdon, Va.

Donna Gibbons, 59, Blountville.
BLOUNTVILLE - Donna C. Shaw Gibbons, 59, 340 Ridgeway Drive, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (Sept. 5, 2002).
She was a charter member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was the first to be saved in the church.
She loved to travel with her long time companion, Harold K. Hubbard. She had a love for flowers and life and she lived hers to the fullest.
She had a great concern and compassion for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer J. Shaw and Verna Lucille Fuller Shaw; one brother, Ron G. Shaw; and grandchildren, Christopher Dale Gibbons and Casside Nicole Warren.
Surviving are her daughter, Tonya L. Warren and husband, Allen, Piney Flats; her sons, Kevin Dale Chase and wife, Norma Jean, Kingsport and L. Dean Gibbons, Piney Flats; grandchildren, Joshua T. Hensley, Samuel A. Warren, William Noah Warren and Dylan Hart Hamilton; brother, Ron G. Shaw and his wife, Jeanette, Bluff City.

Houston I. Harrison, 47, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Houston Ivan Harrison, 47, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002.) He has fought a courageous battle with cancer and won. He has gone home to be with his Father and now he is safe in the arms of Jesus.
He attended Daniel Boone High School and was a self-employed contractor. He loved farming and gardening and especially loved the outdoors.
Mr. Harrison attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emory Landon Harrison; mother, Thelma Rose Sells Harrison; and two brothers, Guy Harrison and Ivan Landon Harrison.
Surviving are his wife, Jackie Harrison, of the home; two daughters, Miranda Vincent and husband, Jonathan, Mirada Dunford and husband, Trevor, all of Kingsport; a special granddaughter, Aubrey Peyton Vincent; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dan and Junell Amyx; one sister, Barbara Ann Roberts, Fall Branch; 11 brothers, George N. Jeffrey Todd Mosley, 32, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Jeffrey Todd Mosley, 32, 1522 W. Sullivan St., died Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002) and is resting in peace after a lengthy illness.
Jeffrey was a native of Norton, Va., but had spent most of his adult life in Hawkins and Sullivan Counties. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Faye Mosley; and maternal grandmother, Lillie Snodgrass.
Surviving are his mother, Letha Ellen Lucas, Kingsport; his father, Auburn Howard Mosley Jr., Wise, Va.; one brother, Richard Mosley, Kingsport; two sisters, Timisha Mosley and Melodee Roller, both of Mount Carmel; maternal grandfather, Willard Lucas, Norton, Va.; special nieces and nephews, Whitney, Devon, Cameron, Larissa and Madison.

She was a member of Caney Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gale and Hazel Cinnamon; brothers, Gary and Clifford Cinnamon; and sister, Linda Braford.

Ray E. Perkins, 77, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Ray Edward Perkins, 77, Rock Springs Rd., entered into rest Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002) at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.
A native of Fremont, Va., he was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired contractor and a member of Homeland Baptist Church. He was one of the original members of the Bibleaires Quartet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hosea Perkins and Mamie Norris Perkins; sisters, Irene Yon and Thelma Perkins; special son-in-law, James S. "Junnie" Propst Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Edna Ruth Jennings Perkins, Kingsport; daughters, Donna Propst, Richmond, Va., Mrs. John (Regina) Payne, Kingsport and Mrs. David (Beverly) Hicks, Church Hill; son, William Edward Perkins, of the home; grandchildren, Jason St. John, Chelsea Payne, Stuart Propst, Crystal Payne, all of Kingsport, and Tanya Hicks, Church Hill; three great-grandchildren, Trinity and Cassidy St. John, and Isiah Propst; sisters, Gladys Ramey, Hampton, Tenn., Ruby Shuler, Kirkwood, Pa., Shirley Marlow, Hampton, Tenn.; brothers, Earl Perkins, Kingsport, Walter Perkins, Lenoir, N.C., Sidney Perkins, Peru, Ind., and Herman Perkins, Kirkwood, Pa.

Lucille Peters, 87, Exeter, Va.
EXETER, Va. - Lucille Pippin Peters, 87, joined her husband in eternal life and peace Thursday (Sept. 5, 2002) at Norton Community Hospital.
Born in Roebuck, Va., she was a 54-year resident of Exeter. She was the only daughter of Lula Boardwine Pippin and Drewy P. Pippin, who preceded her in death along with her husband of 66 years, Malcom E. Peters.
Her earlier years were spent working in the Bristol and Kingsport Silk Mills. After moving to Exeter she left her career to raise her family. She loved to cook for friends and family.
She was a Christian and a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Ron Peters, Exeter, Va., Gerald Peters and Jim Peters, both of Big Stone Gap, Va.; one daughter, Reta Sargent, Appalachia, Va.; two brothers, Winford G. Pippin and Charlie M. Pippin, both of Greendale, Va.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors who will miss her.

Wallace Allen Renfro, Mount Carmel.
MOUNT CARMEL - Wallace Allen Renfro, 67, 1451 Wolfe Lane, passed away Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2002) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Renfro was a lifelong resident of Sullivan and Hawkins Counties and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
He was a retired employee of Sears and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Allen Renfro and Frances Renfro Cheatham; one half-sister, Michelle Cheatham; grandparents, Edward Lloyd and Ada Mae "Granny' Cornett.
Surviving are his wife, Marceleen Christian Renfro, Mount Carmel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Jack Wells Jr., and Jeauquetta and Tommy Collins, both of Mount Carmel; three grandchildren, Tiffani Wells, Anthony Collins and Andrew Collins; two brothers, Darrell Renfro, Maryland, Gerald Renfro, Kingsport; two half-brothers, Stanley Pippin and Steve Cheatham, both of Knoxville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Don Christian, Glynn Christian, Kenneth Christian, Chris Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Mike Redman, Jimmy Self and Bill Winstead.

Mamie Squires, 92, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Mrs. Mamie Whitley Squires, 92, of Kingsport, formerly of Greensboro, N.C., died Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002).
She was born to the late Martin C. and Mary Loudella Whitley. She married the late Sheldon G. Squires in 1929.
A member of Calvary Wesleyan Church in Greensboro, N.C., she taught Sunday School classes for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers, James, William, Paul, Marshall, Joseph R., Oliver V., David and Millard Whitley; and four sisters, Grace Boone, Louise Anderson, Anne Fields and Esther Whitley.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Martin and husband Glen of Marion, Ind., and Rebecca Bridwell and husband Otis of Kingsport; two sons, John C. Squires and wife Lois of Morrisville, N.C., and Richard D. Squires and wife Janice of Greensboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; as well as one sister, Geraldine White of Climax, N.C.
Calling hours are from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, Guilford College Chapel, in Greensboro, N.C.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Guilford Chapel of the funeral home.

Gray B. Williams, 92, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Gray Bristow Williams, 92, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002).
Mrs. Williams was born in Chattanooga and resided in Kingsport most of her life.
She was an active worker and member of First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Carson Williams.
Surviving are her daughters, Charlotte Walsh, Boston, Jeannie Hixon, Fayetteville, Ga., Dale Stasiewicz, Durham, N.C.; son, David Williams, Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport with the Rev. Gary L.R. Bullard officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Church Circle, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660, in memory of Mrs. Williams.
