CHURCH HILL - Graveside services for Kyle Alley, 69, of 109 Highland Avenue, who passed away Saturday (July 28, 2001), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Church Hill Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard.
Pallbearers will be members of the Hawkins County Color Guard.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill.

Grady Baker, 75, Ft. Blackmore, Va.
FT. BLACKMORE, Va. - Grady Baker, 75, of Route 1, died Sunday (July 29, 2001) in Ft. Blackmore.
Born in Scott County on August 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Charlie Baker and Elizabeth Carter Baker. He was a retired coal miner.
Mr. Baker attended Greens Chapel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Baker and Jimmy Baker; sister, Ida Begley; two brothers, Clyde Baker and Johnny Baker.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Baker; daughters and son-in-law, Alice Begley, Ft. Blackmore, Brenda Laney, Elizabethton, Sandra and Dwayne Peters, Gate City; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Nancy Baker, Miamisburg, Ohio, Tommy Baker, Gate City, Ronnie and Pam Baker, Duffield, Va., Roger and Janice Baker, Ft. Blackmore, Henry and Christy Baker, Kingsport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and anytime at the wife's residence.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joe Hall and the Rev. James Mann officiating.
Music will be provided by Dorothy Hicks.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carter Cemetery (Stoney Creek). The family will meet at the cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mary Helen Clemons, 83, Norton, Va.
NORTON, Va. - Mary Helen Clemons, 83, passed away Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Va.
She was born March 23, 1918 in Wise, Va., and lived her entire life in this area.
Mary was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
She was a daughter of the late Trigg Clemons and Maggie West Clemons. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Laura Loflin; and three brothers, Junior Clemons, Harrison Clemons and Kenneth Clemons.
Mary is survived by one sister, Lucy Hensley, Norton; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Carty Funeral Home, Wise, Va.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Fultz Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Norton.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Autumn Nichole Craft, 8-days-old, Ft. Blackmore, Va.
FT. BLACKMORE, Va. – Autumn Nichole Craft, 8-days-old, entered into rest Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was the daughter of Elmer "Duke" Wayne Craft and Ruby Mae Estepp, Ft. Blackmore, Va.
Survivors also include her paternal grandmother, Jeanette Craft, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; maternal grandmother, Louise Dean, Gate City, Va.; half sister, Staci Diane Craft, Big Stone Gap, Va.; three half brothers, Stephen Wayne Craft, Ft. Blackmore, Va., Cody Lee Estepp, Lee County, Va., and Joshua Lynn Estepp, Yuma, Va.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service and anytime at the residence.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McConnell Cemetery, Rt. 619, with the Rev. Bill Porter officiating.

Audelle Cummings, 81, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Audelle Cummings, 81, went to be with the Lord Sunday (July 28, 2001) in the Sunbridge Hillside Manor.
He was born in Charlottesville, Va., and came to the Bristol area in 1939 and worked for Burlington Mills. He retired from the Bristol Post Office in 1983. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a lay minister for 10 years at Marthina Memorial Presbyterian Chapel, and was a charter member and elder of Meadowview Presbyterian Church.
He was the son of the late George Cummings and Ruth Collins. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Norma Dewitt, Bristol, Va.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Trula Carter Cummings; daughter, Ruth Payne, Bristol, Tenn.; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Crickett Cummings, Blountville, Garland and Barbara Cummings, Bristol, Va.; sister, Earline Dunnaway, Highlands Spring, Va.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special niece, Sherry Forbes, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7:45 p.m. today at Meadowview Presbyterian Church.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the church with Dr. Phil Blevins and the Rev. Alan Chapman officiating.
The committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Mt. View Cemetery mausoleum.

BLOUNTVILLE - Rhea Anderson Dail, 205 Tee Drive, went to be with the Lord Sunday (July 29, 2001).
Rhea was born in Andersonville, Tenn., the son of the late John Edward Dail and Margaret Louisa Anderson Dail. He received his masters degree from the University of Tennessee.
Rhea was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was retired as an oceanographer with the Naval Oceanographic Office, Suitland, Md.
He was a member of Blountville Presbyterian Church, an associate member of Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church and Blountville Ruritan Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, John H. Dail.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Hill Dail, of the home; a very special niece, Linda Rhea Bolt and her husband, Anthony Bolt, Blountville; and a number of cousins and many close friends.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Blountville Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blountville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Everett and the Rev. Kevin Cauley officiating.
Interment will follow in Blountville Cemetery.

Frank Ferguson Sr., 84, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Frank Nelson Ferguson Sr., 84, 1364 Warpath Drive, went to be with the Lord at 12:30 a.m. Monday (July 30, 2001) at Wexford House following an extended illness.
Born in St. Paul, Va., he had made Kingsport his home for most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 of the VFW and a member of the DAV.
Mr. Ferguson was a mechanic and retired from Holston Army Ammunition Plant in 1983.
He was a member of Litz Manor Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Builders Sunday School class.
His parents, Frank B. and Margaret Johnson Ferguson, and two sisters, Thelma Minton and Lena Addington, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Una V. Ferguson, Kingsport; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Long, Kathy and Tom McNutt; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank N. Ferguson Jr., and Evelyn Ferguson, all of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Shayna McNutt, Misti Hill, Heather Dishner and April Nelson; and one sister, Gladys Stidham, Kingsport.

Clarice Gibson, 88, Nickelsville, Va.
NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Clarice Olene Gibson, 88, went to be with the Lord Sunday, (July 29, 2001) after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 18, 1912 to the late Walter William and Maggie Belle Litton Gibson.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Giles S. Gibson, and special friend, Ethel Wood.
She was a graduate of Nickelsville High School and retired from Nickels Manufacturing in Bristol, Tenn. in 1974. She was a faithful member of Nickelsville Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Frances McConnell, Gate City, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ralph Miller, Kingsport; brother, Don Gibson, Johnson City; brother and sister-in-law, Bryce and Amma Gibson, Kingsport; special ex sister-in-law, Shirley Gibson, Knoxville; nephews, Bill, Jimmy, Rhea, and Michael McConnell, Don and Scott Gibson; nieces, Julia Gibson Hammer, Nancy Miller Caldwell, Amber Gibson, Gail, Mary, Whitney and Ashley McConnell, Dessi and Sierra Ford, Ruth Gibson and Renee Gibson.

Miss Honaker was a member of Oak Drive Independent Church. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and was a hairdresser. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Margie Honaker; twin sister, Gaylene Bishop; sister, Odell Monk; and brother-in-law, Rion Gilliam.
Surviving are two sisters, Tressa Gilliam, Kingsport, and Mary Alice Artrip and husband J.C., Abingdon, Va.; two brothers, Lawrence and special sister-in-law Betty Honaker, Kingsport, and Clarence Honaker, Honaker, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Susan Ellen Baker Turner; her husband, Sid (S.C.) Hyder; five sisters; and five brothers.
Surviving are three sisters, Emily Creech, Harlan, Ky., Suvilla Hendrix, Harlan, Ky., and Ollie Couch, Putney, Ky.; one brother, Marcus Turner, Smilax, Ky.; and a special nephew, Issam Hyder, Kingsport.

Ernest Lipe Sr., 88, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Ernest Gay Lipe Sr., 88, Sandy Valley Road, died Sunday afternoon (July 29, 2001) in the loving arms of his wife and his family at his bedside. He was born in Hawkins County, June 19, 1913.
He was of the Jehovah's Witness faith.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ethel Jones Lipe; sons and daughter-in-law, Ernest Lipe Jr., Jackie and Arlene Lipe, Rogersville, and Mack Lipe, Chattanooga; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Glen Francis, Barbara and Tom Ketchum, Morristown, and Charlsie and Enos McLain, Rogersville; grandson, Curtis Lipe; 12 other cherished grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; special aunt, Vangie Brummitt, Rogersville; and a niece, Hazel Cody, Florida.

Rita Helen Moore, 84, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Rita Helen Mitchell Moore, 84, born October 4, 1916, departed life on earth Saturday (July 28, 2001) at 9:08 p.m. to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join loved ones who preceded her. She succumbed to cancer at her home, 4625 Old Stage Road, with family present.
A native of Kingsport, she grew up in the Pactolas community, living with her paternal grandparents, Charlie and Fanny Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Taylor Moore Sr., on May 11, 1943 while living in Baltimore, Md.; her parents, Floyd Simon Mitchell and Alice Elizabeth Poore Mitchell Light; a baby sister, Ruby Mitchell; and brother, Worley Elijah Mitchell.
Surviving are a son, Archie Taylor Moore II and wife Ann, of the Rock Springs community; two daughters, Mildred Louise Dove, Old Stage Road, and Edith Marie Whitehead, Monte Vista - Bloomingdale; a sister, Velma Light; seven grandchildren; Deborah Lynne Moore Range, Archie Taylor Moore III (Chip), Melvin Gregory Moore DDS, Melissa Lea Moore Snell, Charles Wayne Bishop Dove, Pamela Louise Dove Stone and Melanie Paige Whitehead Fraysier; and 12 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly and greatly missed by all her loved ones.
A private service for the family will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Cemetery in the Garden of Peace at the family plot with the Rev. David Powers of Emmanuel Baptist Church providing final service.
Grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude for the excellent professional care provided at her home by the Wellmont Hospice Team and Dr. Bruce Vincent. Special acknowledgment goes to Mrs. Connie Creamer for all the special services she provided.

She retired from Keebler.

(Sally) Smith, Wyoming, Mich.; her sister, Sarah Nixon, and her brother Monroe Killen, Pulaski, Va.; her grandchildren, Tony Smith, Gene and Karen Smith, all of Kingsport, Holly Smith, Mark and Sherry Smith, Kim Torrey, Chris and Lisa Smith, Heather and Ken Potts, all of the Grand Rapids, Mich. area; her great-grandchildren, David Smith, Kingsport, Crystal Smith, Ashley Smith, Kelsey Smith, Jessica Smith, Cody Potts and Elizabeth Potts, all of the Grand Rapids area.

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. - Beverly Jean Plumley, 62, died at 10 p.m. Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Brookview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Indianapolis, Ind., after an illness of several years.
Born March 1, 1939 in St. Charles, Va., she was the daughter of J.D. Bryson of Martinsville, Ind., and the late Irene (Osborne) Bryson. She lived in Morgan County since 1962, coming from Virginia. She was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting things, sewing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Milburn Mooneyhan; and second husband, Willie Plumley.
Surviving are one daughter, Shiela Kay Greer, Kingsport; four stepdaughters, Christine Cooper and Pauline Cooper, both of Paragon, Ind., Louise Taylor and Arlene Malone, both of Martinsville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, Seth and Kaytlin Greer; three brothers, Ray Douglas Bryson, Indianapolis, Ind., William K. Bryson and Tommy L. Bryson, both of Martinsville, Ind.; and one sister, Loretta Gose, Martinsville, Ind.

She was born in Kingsport and attended Hiltons United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Naomi Sensabaugh.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Robinson Jr.; children, Taylor, Logan and Faith; her mother, Patricia Lady, Kingsport; her father, Farris Sensabaugh, Church Hill; three sisters, Julie Smith, Gate City, Va., Connie Shaffer, Church Hill, and Kayla Brinegar, Kingsport; one brother, Justin Sensabaugh, Church Hill; maternal grandparents, Howard and Imogene Seymour, Blue Creek, Ohio; paternal grandfather, Robert Sensabaugh Sr., Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

DAYTON, Ohio - Albert Scott, 76, died Friday (July 27, 2001) in Harborside Healthcare in New Lebanon, Ohio.
A native of Norton, Va., he had resided in Dayton for over 30 years, where he retired from Chrysler Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He was an active member of Church of God of Prophecy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Taylor Scott; mother and father, Henry and Lousada Scott; brother, Hershel; and sisters, Eula, Bessie and Geneva.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Scott, Dayton; sisters, Carrie Thacker, Norton, Va., and Betty Jo Head, Panama City, Fla.; brother, James Scott, West Milton, Ohio; stepdaughter, Carolyn Teague; stepson, Rodger Kirk; four stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandsons; several nieces and nephews.

FALL BRANCH - Services for Tillman Ray Ward Sr., 77, Ford Town Road, who went to be with the Lord at 4:55 a.m. Sunday (July 29, 2001), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Davis officiating.
The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post No. 3382.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.

Gale Whitaker, 53, Piney Flats.
PINEY FLATS - Gale Roger Whitaker, 53, 2059 Devault Bridge Road, died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and retired from the Sullivan County School System Maintenance Department.
He attended the Lighthouse Bible Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lee Whitaker and Ida Trent Whitaker; and an infant brother.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Doran Whitaker; a son, Roger Lee Whitaker, Kingsport; sisters, Betty June Miller, Grovetown, Ga., and Barbara Ann Smith, Knoxville; brothers, Frank Whitaker, Blountville, and Paul Whitaker, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Chapel, downtown Kingsport, with the Rev. Donnie Morrell officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Bethel Cemetery, Piney Flats.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Sonya Young, 41, Pennington Gap, Va.
PENNINGTON GAP, Va. - Sonya Elaine Dennison Shuler Young, 41, Big Hill community, died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Lee County Community Hospital, Pennington Gap, Va.
Born in Pennington Gap, Va., she was a lifelong resident of Lee County, Va. She was an LPN at Duffield Adult Care Center and Frontier Home Health.
Sonya attended Calvary Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, Va.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and June Napier and Ed Dennison; and an uncle, Jimmy Dale Napier.
Surviving are her father and mother, Irving Dennison, Jonesville, Va., and Lois Napier Dennison, Pennington Gap, Va.; sons, Michael Brandon Shuler, Keokee, Va., Gregory Blake Young II and Steven Tyler Young, both of Pennington Gap, Va.; daughter, Amanda Shuler Young, Keokee, Va.; two grandchildren, Madison Young and Savannah Young; grandmother, Lela Dennison, Pennington Gap, Va.; brother, Michael Dennison, Pennington Gap, Va.; sisters, Lisa Coomer, Pennington Gap, Va., and Sharon Dennison, Elizabethton; four nieces and four nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home, Pennington Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bruce Brewer officiating.
Burial will be at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, Va.
