Dale Cearnal
Dale Cearnal, 74, Camarillo, Calif., a former Joplin resident, died Thursday morning, Dec. 25, 1997,
at his home after a long illness. Mr. Cearnal was born Jan. 11, 1923, at Golden City. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law. He was a member of the State Bar of Missouri and the State Bar of California. He worked as an attorney for the Shell Oil Company of Los Angeles, Calif., before moving to Ventura County, Calif., in 1954 to practice law with the law firm of Durley, Todd, Fox and Pollack.
He formerly served as city attorney in Joplin. He had served as president of the Ventura County Bar Association, Oxnard (Calif.) Chamber of Commerce and Oxnard Boys' Club. He served on the board of directors of the Ventura County Chapter of the American National Red Cross.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a pilot in the 317th Troop Carrier Group known as the "Jungle Skippers."
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Cearnal; two daughters, Deborah Cearnal, Camarillo, and Susan Chapin, Oakview, Calif.; a son, Brian Cearnal, Santa Barbara, Calif.; two sisters, Ceolastet Garvin, Joplin, and Lorraine Hill, Bella Vista, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
The body has been cremated.
Private family services will be held.
Arrangements were under the direction of Pierce Brothers Griffinstet Mortuary, Camarillo.

William Kirby
Services for William R. Kirby, 45, Auxvasse, a Joplin native, who died Tuesday, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nashville Christian Church.
Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Nashville Christian Church.
Contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or the Kasey Kirby Education Fund, in care of Parker Funeral Service, Columbia.
Survivors include his maternal grandmother, Sylvia Shelburn, Pittsburg, Kan.

Rose Porter
Rosamondstet L. "Rose" Porter, 80, Joplin, died at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at a nursing home in Tulsa, Okla., after a four-month illness.
Mrs. Porter was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Dade County. She moved to Joplin in 1972 from Carthage. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church Women's Association Circle No. 3, the PEO Sisterhood and Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.
She married Marvin Porter on Nov. 28, 1936, at Los Angeles, Calif. He died April 10, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Max Porter, Tulsa, and Ed Porter, Springfield; two brothers, Meredith Hagins stetand Donald Hagins, both of Hollister, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. William Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
Pallbearers will be Dick Moss, Bob Walker, Fred Laas,stet Jonstet Dermott, David Hall and Dennis Erwin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Parker Mortuary.

David Williams
David E. Williams, 47, 7060 Jaguar Road, rural Joplin, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1997, at his home. The death has been ruled a suicide by the Newton County coroner.
Mr. Williams was born Jan. 17, 1950, at Joplin. He was a lifetime area resident.
He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving in Thailand.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Joplin.
Survivors include his father, Jim Williams, Grand Lake Towne, Okla.; two brothers, Bruce A. Williams, Joplin, and Neal W. Williams, Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Rebecca VanClave, Wyandotte, Okla., Alicia Trout, Reeds Spring, and Stacie Dennis, Charleston, Ill..
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Black Fox Cemetery, near Wentworth.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.
Jim Williams and family will receive friends at his home at Paradise Point on Grand Lake.

Nancy Brock
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Nancy Irene Brock, 73, Fayetteville, Ark., a former Cassville resident, died at 7:11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at a nursing home in Fayetteville after a long illness.
Mrs. Brock was born Sept. 11, 1924, at Hindsville, Ark. She had lived in the Cassville area from 1954 until moving to Fayetteville in 1994. She was a homemaker.
Her first husband, Willis Edmonson, preceded her in death. She married Johnnie Brock on March 21, 1970, at Cassville. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Lee Edmonson, Goshen, Ark.; three daughters, Bernice Burnettestet and Frances Taylor, both of Cassville, and Irene Dalton, Washburn; three brothers, Jesse Evans, Fayetteville, Jack Evans, Springdale, Ark., and Granville "Tub" Evans, Hindsville; three sisters, Cora McCoy, Torrington, Wyo., Lucille West, Spring valley, Ark., and Ruby Lawson, Hindsville; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Hugh Higgs will officiate. Burial will be in Horner Cemetery, Cassville.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.

Norma Crawford
PIERCE CITY, Mo. - Norma Jean Crawford, 67, Pierce City, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a short illness.
Mrs. Crawford was born March 24, 1930, at Stark City. She was a lifetime resident of the Pierce City area. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Midway High School and attended the Monett Vo-Tech School from 1977 to 1978. She worked at St. Vincent's Hospital, Monett, in the business office.
She was a member of VanBuren Baptist Church, near Wentworth.
She married Frank Crawford on July 14, 1949, at Neosho. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, James Arthur Crawford, Aurora; two daughters, Sharon Nadine Jones and Charotte Sue Jackson, both of Pierce City; two brothers, Wilburn Francis Haase,stet Oskaloosa,stet Kan., and Loren Alvastet Haase, Granby; a sister, Zelma Pauline Joel,stet Monett; and three grandchildren.
A son and a daughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City. The Rev. Paul Yarnall will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery, near Pierce City.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Grace Miller
WENTWORTH, Mo. - Grace Everhard Miller, 87, formerly of Wentworth, died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at her home in Gering, Neb., after a long illness.
Mrs. Miller was born Dec. 3, 1910, at Granby. She and her husband owned and operated a farm near Granby until 1959. She lived in Wentworth until 1990, when she moved to Gering.
She married Philip Everhard. He died in 1959. She married Orwin Miller in 1961. He died in 1990.
She was a member of West Union Church of Christ near Granby, and a long-time member of Wentworth Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane Eckerberg, Gering, Neb.; two brothers, Eldon Warden, Neosho and Fred Chester, Aptos, Calif.; three step-daughters, Carolyn Clark and Malcodean Hilton, both of Phoenix and Gwendolyn Dabbs, Jefferson City; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Wessell Funeral Home, Pierce City.

John Mullins
ORONOGO, Mo. - John T. Mullins, 42, Oronogo, died at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr. Mullins was born July 11, 1955, at Joplin. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a self-employed carpenter. He is a 1973 graduate of Webb City High School. He was a member of Christ Church in Oronogo.
Survivors include two sons, Shane Mullins, Webb City and Jason Bray, Shell Knob; his parents, Wendell R. and Helen M. Mullins, Oronogo; and a sister, Patty Coleman, Webb City.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Stone Cemetery. Lee Williams and Tony Salva will officiate. Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.

Greyson Shelfer
PIERCE CITY, Mo. - Greyson stetThomas Shelfer,stet infant son of Jason and Krististet McCracken Shelfer, Pierce City, died at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, shortly after birth at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin.
Additional survivors include paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rouse, Carthage, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Shelfer, St. Petersburg, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith McCracken, Monett; paternal great-grandparents, Don Yankie,stet Webb City, and Patricia Rouse, Joplin; maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Severs, Pierce City, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCracken, Pierce City; paternal great-great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Shelfer, Jacksonville, Fla.; and maternal great-great-grandmother, Bertha Wecker, Pierce City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pierce City. The Rev. Daniel Hirtzstet will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.

Rodney Sisco
PURDY, Mo. - Rodney Faystet Sisco, 62, Purdy, died at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Cox Monett Hospital, Monett, after a sudden illness.
Mr. Sisco was born Feb. 6, 1935, at Golden. He was a lifetime Barry County resident. He was a farmer and auctioneer. He formerly worked at R&M Manufacturing, Purdy. He was a former Northern Barry County commissioner.
He attended Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church of Purdy and was a member of the Purdy Lions Club. He was a veteran of the Air Force.
He married Doris Henderson on March 21, 1959, at Purdy. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Brian Sisco, Verona; a daughter, Ladonna Daily, Purdy; a brother, James Sisco, Raytown; three sisters, Helen Spain, Purdy, Frances Patton, Hugoton,stet Kan., and Louise Crim, Gladstone; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett. The Rev. Lee Neillstet will officiate. Burial will be in Arnhart Cemetery, Purdy.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Anna Smith
MIAMI, Okla. - Anna Maria Smith, 72, 41 N. Main St., died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Baptist Regional Health Center after an illness.
Mrs. Smith was born July 31, 1925, at Dublin, Ireland. She had lived in Miami since 1973, moving there from Galena, Kan. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miami.
Survivors include two sons, William B. Smith, Oregon City, Ore., and Lawrence T. Smith, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, William Black, Dublin; three sisters, Margaret Steigerwald, state of New Jersey, Sarah T. Gross, Boston, Mass., and Renee T. Halterlein, Readville, Tenn.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. Marvin Morris will officiate.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miami. The Rev. Kenneth King will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell (Kan.) Cemetery.

Penny Stoner
LAMAR, Mo. - Penny Lee Stoner, 37, Vacaville, Calif., formerly of Lamar, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at her home after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Stoner was born June 13, 1960, at Lamar. She was a 1978 graduate of Olathe (Kan.) High School. She had lived in Vacaville since 1986, moving there from Lamar. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her mother, Lila Stoner, Lamar; a brother, Michael C. Stoner, Nevada.
The body has been cremated. Private family services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.

Vida Workman
LIBERAL, Mo. - Vida M. Workman, 85, Liberal, died at 1:12 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at a nursing home in Lamar after an illness.
Mrs. Workman was born March 7, 1912, at Iantha. She was a lifetime resident of Barton County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Iantha Baptist Church and Iantha Homemakers Club.
She married Leonard L. Workman on March 14, 1935, at Lamar. He died Feb. 25, 1989.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Workman, Kansas City, Doug Workman, Grandview, and Woody Workman, Liberal; a brother, Bill Woods, Lamar; two sisters, Sadie Goode,stet Lamar, and Julia Thomas, Nashville;Mo. four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Iantha Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Cox will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Brock Reasoner, Michael Reasoner, Dane Workman, Bill Woods, Joe Bazalstet and Duane Roy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.

Lela Bruner
AFTON, Okla. - Lela Mae Bruner, 51, Afton, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Mo., after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Bruner was born April 11, 1946, at Fairland. She had lived in the Fairland area all of her life. She was a home health-care nurse with Trinity Life Care. She attended Afton Holiness Church.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Bruner, Afton, and Ernie Bruner, of the home; a daughter, Mary Lawson, Welch; a brother, John Thomas, Pryor; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Afton Holiness Church. Bill Lunsford will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Afton, under the direction of Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Afton.
The family will received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bill Hambright
MIAMI, Okla. - William C. "Bill" Hambright,stet 78, 1708 D St. S.W., died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at a nursing home in Joplin, Mo., after a short illness.
Mr. Hambright was born Sept. 25, 1919, at Covington, Ind. He was a 1939 graduate of Covington High School. He moved to Miami in 1946 from Covington. He was a production department worker at the B.F. Goodrich Plant, retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Eastview Church of Christ, Miami. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Maxine Powell on May 2, 1942, at Pineville, Mo. She survives.
Additional survivors include two brothers, Gene Hambright, Danville, Ill., and Donald Hambright, Palm Desert, Calif.; and a sister, Lenore Busch,stet Perkins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eastview Church of Christ. Phil Cox and Doug Williams, ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Cemetery, east of Miami.
Graveside military services will be conducted by members of the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Eastview Church of Christ, in care of the funeral home.

Verna Hocker
JAY, Okla. - Services for Verna Ann Hocker, 96, Jay, who died Tuesday, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church, Jay
The Rev. Coy Scroggins will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Jay.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Jay.

Allen Horrell
MIAMI, Okla. - Allen C. Horrell, 89, 1924 C St., N.E., Miami, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital, Oklahoma City, after an illness.
Mr. Horrell was born Oct. 31, 1908, at Centralia. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Muskogee, and attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater for two years. He was a farmer until 1942, when he went to work for the Boeing Co., Wichita, Kan. He moved in 1945 from Wichita to Miami, where he worked at B.F. Goodrich. He retired in 1971.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miami, and the Knights of Columbus.
He married Jessie Campbell on April 27, 1936, at Miami. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Gene Horrell, Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. The Rev. Marvin Morris will officiate.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Kenneth King will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Cemetery, east of Miami.

Amon Jennings
MIAMI, Okla. - Amonstet L. Jennings, 84, 2213 Elmwood Lane, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Mr. Jennings was born Oct. 28, 1913, at Aurora, Mo. He had lived in Miami the past 17 years, moving from Ontario, Calif. He had lived in Picher for 38 years before moving to Ontario. He was a real estate broker in Ontario, retiring in 1976. He also had worked for General Dynamics in California. In later years, he worked at the Picher Mining Field Museum at Picher and the Dobson Museum at Miami.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Picher and was a 60-year member of the IOOF Lodge in Picher.
He married Mildred Vandiver in 1935 at Picher. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, William L. "Bill" Jennings and James L. Jennings, both of Miami; six grandchildren; and nine great-grand-children.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. The Rev. William Forrest and the Rev. M.L. Teel will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Pallbearers will be Bob Barker, Fred Morgan, John Morgan, Ladellstet Morgan, Bill J. Morgan and Recestet Smith.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Picher.

Sandy Smith
MIAMI, Okla. - Sandra Jean "Sandy" Button Smith, 51, Miami, died at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Mo., after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 2, 1946, at Joplin. She had lived in Miami for three years, moving from Springdale, Ark. She had lived in Springdale three years before that, moving from Baxter Springs, Kan.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Globe, Ariz.
She married Charles Smith on Aug. 10, 1984. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Clarence Wayne Snyder, Baxter Springs, and Michael Leroy Smith, Miami; her parents, Orville and Jean Button, Baxter Springs; and two brothers, Dale Button, El Dorado, Kan. and Darrell Button, Rogers, Ark.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, Kan., with Ed Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Derringer, Leroy Merit, Bob Thompkins, Wayne Sloan, Rick Sloan, George Short, Jimmy Short, Joe Simpson and Clifford Williams.
