JOHN W. SHUMAKER
(1932-2004)
CREVE COEUR - John Wesley Shumaker, 71, of 229 South Thorncrest, died at 4:52 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born November 1, 1932 near Clarksville, Clark County to Harlan O. and Martha M. Spoonmore Shumaker.
Surviving are three brothers, Lester (Merrilyn) Shumaker of Chrisman, Everett T. Shumaker of Bedford, Michigan, and James E. (Connie) Shumaker of Creve Coeur; two sisters, Lena I. (Walter) Kennedy of Marshall and Alice Marie 'Lucille' Ward of Harrisburg ; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and three brothers (Theodore Shumaker, Donald Shumaker, and Chester Shumaker) preceded him in death.
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from January 21, 1953 to December 30, 1954. He attained the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Shumaker worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring as a heavy equipment operator at the Mapleton plant.
He was a life member of the Martin-Courtney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4835 in Creve Coeur.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, where visitation will be one hour before services.
Local visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.

JOHN W. MILLER
(1948-2004)
PEKIN -John Wesley Miller, 56, of 230 Cooper St. died at 8:38 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born January 18, 1948 in Pekin to William E. and Lorene M. Havens Miller, he married Jouetta Irene Kite Kearney on April 7, 1975 in Pekin.
Surviving are 5 step-sons, Jimmy Kearney, David Kearney, Danny (Rita) Kearney, Robbie (Candi) Kearney, and Carl (Kim) Kearney, all of Pekin; 2 step-daughters, Crystal (Rich) Rife and Melody Kearney, both of Pekin; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Chris Burton and Bonnie (Rich) McLean, both of Pekin; and 1 brother, Gary (Kathy) Miller of Thomasville, Missouri.
Mr. Miller worked as an operating engineer for 39 years, last working for R. Gingerich Company in Morton as a crane operator since August 2003.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 649 in Peoria. He was also a member of the Pekin Eagles Aerie #1869 and he enjoyed woodworking and working on cars.
Cremation will be accorded.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 1, 2004 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1903 El Camino Dr. in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

EARLENE L. DANIEL
(1919-2004)
EAST PEORIA -Earlene L. Daniel, 85, of 500 Centennial Dr., #621, died at 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Manor Health Care Center in East Peoria. She was formerly of Creve Coeur.
Born March 26, 1919 in Frederick, Illinois to Rosco and Emily Harn Stevens, she married Raymond E. Daniel on December 14, 1941 in Hannibal, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband; 1 daughter, Marna (Paul) Gorrell of Marquette Hts.; 1 son, Steven (Dianne) Daniel of E. Peoria; 6 grandsons; and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
A homemaker, Mrs. Daniel was active in Creve Coeur Home Extension as an officer until it disbanded. She was an associate member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and loved to quilt and crochet. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria .
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. Walter Wilkins will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

MARGIE E. HEDDEN
(1914-2004)
PEKIN - Margie E. Hedden, 89, of 1409 North 10th Street in Pekin, died at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, April 25, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Born July 13, 1914 in Chaplin, Kentucky to Homer H. and Clara E. Hood Howard, she married Lillard E. Hedden on April 13, 1945 in Pekin. He survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
During the World War II era, she owned and operated the Pekin Diner, the Fairway Restaurant at 216 Court Street and Hedden's Caf' at 3rd and St. Mary Streets, all in Pekin. She also was involved in Hedden's Agriculture Aviation business with her husband for many years.
Mrs. Hedden was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, where she assisted with children's church for several years. She served as a Sunday school teacher at the Pekin Union Mission Society for more than 60 years.
She loved needlework, gardening and cooking.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

FLOYD HICKS
(1930-2004)
PEKIN - Floyd Hicks, 74, of 1219 North Sheridan Road in Peoria, died at 10:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was formerly of Pekin.
Born January 24, 1930 in Model, Tennessee to Delbert D. and Nancy B. Rogers Hicks, he married Dorothy Juanita Johnson on August 14, 1953 in East Peoria.
Surviving are one daughter, Debra Diane Adams of Pekin; one son, Dale F. (Tammy) Hicks of Pekin; two grandsons, D.J. Hicks and Drew Hicks, both of Pekin and three brothers, including his twin, Loyd of Benton, Kentucky, John C. Hicks of Washington and Robert L. (Peggie) Hicks of Murray, Kentucky. He also leaves his longtime companion, Donna L. Bennett, with whom he made his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Dennis Floyd Hicks; four brothers and two sisters.
An Army veteran, he was a member and finance officer for American Legion Post 983 in East Peoria.
He had owned and operated Floyd's Shell and Towing in Pekin at the 'Y' intersection of North 5th and 8th Streets for 15 years. He then worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Star Transport of Morton for several years, last working in 1988. He previously worked as a Tazewell County Sheriff's Deputy.
He was a member of Hilton Masonic Lodge No. 1143, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois in East Peoria. He also was a member of the Mohammed Temple, Shrine; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria ; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
He enjoyed woodworking and traveling via motorcycle.
He formerly attended Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Doug Hicks, his nephew, will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.

ABIGAIL HARRIS

PEKIN - Abigail Jaclynn Marie Harris, infant daughter of Paul Anthony Harris and Sarah Jo McMichael, of 528 Henrietta Street, Apt. 5, Pekin, was stillborn at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Also surviving are three brothers, Cody J. Clewell, Joshua C. Clewell, and Kaleb S. Otey, all of Pekin ; one sister, Lily K. Harris of Pekin ; grandparents, Dennis W. and Jeanine L. McMichael and Paul D. and Jackie K. Harris, all of Pekin; great-grandparents, John R. and Nell McMichael and Wilma J. McMichael, both of Peoria, Melvin R. and Gail I. Morger of East Peoria, and Betty G. Wiggins of Pekin; great-great-grandmother, Orvetta Morger of East Peoria; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2004 at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

ROBERT E. BOSTER
(1927-2004)
MANITO - Robert Eugene Boster, 76, of 11365 Maple Island Road died at 4 p.m., Monday, April 19, 2004 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was formerly of Peoria.
Born December 5, 1927 in Peoria to John Roy and Dorothy Blanche King Boster, he married Patsy Y. Miller on June 2, 1972 in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Donna Boster of Bartonville; 1 step-son, Gary Allen of Peoria; 1 step-daughter, Penelope Boggs of Manito; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jim (Mary Sue) Boster of Germantown Hills; and 4 sisters, Betty Cage of Creve Coeur, Shirley Rybolt of Pekin, Nancy (Bob) Derrick of East Peoria; and Florence (Jack) Hall of Mauston, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by 1 infant son and 1 sister.
Mr. Boster had worked as a bartender for several years, Previously, he had worked in construction, for CILCO, and for American Shuffleboard and Music Company.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #979 and the V.F.W. Post # 3883, both in Bartonville.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation will be accorded.

PEKIN - Jackie Wayne White, 70, of 2220 State St. died at 6:29 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center. He was formerly of Peoria.
He was born March 29, 1934 in Bartonville to Jesse James and Dorothea Allene Sturgis White.
Surviving are 6 daughters, Tina White and Dawn Ann Horton, both of East Peoria, Becky (Brian) Baker of Peoria, Vickie White of Houston, Texas, Barbara Lynn (Larry) Eubanks of Trenton, North Carolina, and Jackie White of Michigan; 3 sons, Sean Francis White and Christopher White, both of Peoria and Robbin (Sophie) White of Chicago; 1 step-son, Joe Williams of East Peoria; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Donna Gray of Bellvue; and 1 brother, Patrick White of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister and 1 brother.
Mr. White last worked as an iron worker out of Iron Workers Local 112 in East Peoria. Previously, he had worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 5 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict from 1951-55.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. There will be no visitation.

REVA W. WILLIAMS

PEKIN -Reva W. Williams, 75, of 12866 Wiseman Road died at 7:55 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2004 at her home.
Born March 5, 1929 in Boss, Missouri to Truman Nels and Dessie Ellen Brooks Pryor, she married Rev. Charles L. Williams on July 17, 1949 in Pekin.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Connie (Robert) Rigler, Teresa (Dan) Seals, and Carol (Bill) Grogan, all of Pekin ; one son, C. Michael (Patti) Williams of Benton, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy (James) Morris and Betty Monks, both of Pekin; and one brother, Floyd (Thelda) Pryor of Conway, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Brad Seals; and one brother.
A homemaker, Mrs. Williams was a member of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God, where she was involved in the Women's Ministry and had been a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 19, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Chuck Grogan and Rev. Paul Pryor will officiate. Visitation will be form 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

ROGER O. TRIER, SR.
(1939-2004)
PEKIN - Roger Owen Trier, Sr., 64, of 1114 South 7th Street, Pekin, died at 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2004 at his home.
Born October 19, 1939 in Chicago to Conrad John and Ella Mae Ruppel Trier, he married Patricia Anne Reardon on March 6, 1965 in Jacksonville. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Roger O. (Analyn) Trier, Jr. of Palatine, and Gregory A. (Kathleen) Trier and Douglas E. (Jan) Trier, both of Pekin; five grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Trier of Metamora; and his mother of Washington.
His father preceded him in death.
He was a 1959 graduate of Jacksonville High School.
A United States Air Force veteran, he served from January 26, 1961 to January 25, 1965. He received Presidential recognition for his contributions and work with the Minute Man Missile.
Mr. Trier worked as a clothing salesman for OshKosh b'Gosh, Inc. for 16 years and later worked as the National Vice President of Sales for Big Smith Brands, Inc., last working in 1998 due to his illness.
He was a past ISHA official and was active in several youth organizations including running the Pekin Track Club for several years, coaching Pekin JFL, Pony League, and numerous basketball leagues. He also was active with Junior Olympics and played on several area basketball teams including the Caterpillar and Green Lantern leagues.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
His greatest gifts in life were his family, friends, and working with kids.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Private family services will be Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded.

W. G. "DOC" BURTON
(1907-2004)
PEKIN - Wrater G. 'Doc' Burton, 97, of 3704 Sheridan Road, died at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.
Born January 30, 1907 in Petersburg, Indiana to Matthew and Dessa Mona McDade Burton, he married Sara Pauline Scott on May 8, 1929 in Anderson, Indiana. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Barbara L. (G. Ronald) Runyan of Pekin; four grandchildren, G. Cheryl (Donald) Lewis of Flagstaff, Arizona, Vicki L. Wallin of Fort Myers, Florida, Bradley A. Runyan of Pekin, and Lori A. Schmitt of Keller, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter (Betty Jo Burton in 1931), five brothers, and four sisters.
Mr. Burton worked 29 years as a tool and die maker for the Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson, Indiana, retiring in 1972.
He was a 50 year member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge in Anderson, Indiana. He had attended First United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, Florida.
Masonic services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel with funeral services following. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services and burial of ashes will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana at a later date.

CLYDE C. YOUNG
(1933-2004)
MARQUETTE HEIGHTS - Clyde C. Young, 71, of 1102 Lincoln Road, died at 7:02 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Born March 31, 1933 in Walnut Grove, Missouri to James Cecil and Zella Marie Kirk Young, he married Theresa Ellen Schnicker on December 28, 1963 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Linda L. (Charles) Earley of Peoria; one son, R. Eugene 'Gene' (Dorine) Munsell of Pekin; four grandchildren, Amy L. (Chris) Quisenberry of Morton, Matthew B. Munsell of Pekin, Jarod E. (Amanda) Munsell of South Pekin, and Ian W. Earley of Peoria; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence C. (Anna Jean) Young of Springfield, Missouri and Hubert F. (Betty) Young of Bolivar, Missouri and one step-brother, Fred (Wanda) Carver of Webb City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother (Lucy Mae Young), one brother (Orvil Young), and infant sister (Eliza Ann Young).
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from April 21, 1953 to April 5, 1956.
Mr. Young worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 40 years, first as a heat treater in building S in East Peoria for 26 years and later as a checker on the loading dock at the Morton Parts Facility for 14 years. He retired December 31, 1991.
He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin and was a member of the United Autoworkers Local 974 Retirees in East Peoria.
He enjoyed gardening, yard work, and his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Tim Najpaver will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded.

BRIMFIELD - Floyd Alan Dowell, 60, of 10913 West Roseland Lane, died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born January 3, 1944 in Peoria to James A. and Lucy Ditto Dowell, he married Patricia L. Murphy on July 17, 1982 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tim Dowell of New York and Tom Dowell of Tucson, Arizona ; two daughters, Tammy (Gordon) Fernandez of California and Kerrie (Scott) Ellis of Johnstown, Ohio; six grandchildren; one brother, James Dowell of Kenosha, Wisconsin and three sisters, Susan (Donald) Theinert of Peoria, Eva (Joe) Hinricks of Glasford and Lucy Krus of Peoria .
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He had served in the Army.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, where he worked in building KK in East Peoria, retiring in 1994.
He was a member UAW Local 974.
An avid golfer and sports fan, he was a Chicago Cubs Baseball fan.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. H. David Clark will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

ALBERT K. STAUTHAMMER
(1949-2004)
NORTH PEKIN - Albert Kent Stauthammer, 54, of 118 Sunset Blvd. died at 1:30 a.m., Sunday, April 04, 2004 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Born April 9, 1949 in Pekin to John and Ida Jessen Stauthammer, he married Bonita Sue 'Bonnie' Kirkbride on June 19, 1992 in Groveland.
Surviving are his wife; his parents of Pekin; 1 son, Joseph Stauthammer of Spring Lake; 1 daughter, Tracy Beeney of Spring Lake; 4 step-daughters, Denise Barr of Middletown, Dawn Barr of Delavan, Bonnie Byers of Pekin and Debra Byers of North Pekin; 2 step-sons, Tim (Kim) Barr of Green Valley and Ted (Michele) Barr of Marquette Heights; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Alan (Patty) Stauthammer of Peoria and Marvin (Vicki) Stauthammer of Creve Coeur; and 1 sister, Marie (George) Wiers of Canton.
Mr. Stauthammer worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring from the Morton facility in September 1998.
He served with the U.S. Army in Viet Nam where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Peoria Sportsmen's Club.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Ralph Cordes will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
