Gladwin County, Michigan obits:

Leonard Gerald McKimmy, 53, of San Diego, Calif., died suddenly Friday, July 21, 2000.
Born Feb. 9, 1947 in Wayne, he was the son of Jack McKimmy and Geraldine (McKimmy) Rumsey. He previously lived in Lake Orion.
Leonard married Lisa Feb. 10, 1988 in Ft. Myers, Fla. He was an operator for Marco Crane in San Diego, Calif.
He was a veteran of the Navy, CB's, serving two tours in the Viet Nam. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #112 in Wayne, International Union of Operators and Engineers Local 324.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Jay Leonard of Troy, Mo.; one daughter, Michelle Eicholtz of Westland; one sister, Jackie Erickson (McKimmy) of DeWitt; one brother, John of Plymouth; his mother, Geraldine (McKimmy) Rumsey of Beaverton; and five grandchildren. Heather, Aspen and Winter Eve McKimmy, and Austin and Amber Eicholtz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack McKimmy.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at the First Baptist of Canton.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Sandra A. Smith (Locey), 48, of Gladwin, died suddenly, Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.
Born April 3, 1952, she was the daughter of Walter and Lillian (Anschutz) Smith of West Branch. She lived in Gladwin County since 1977 and previously lived in Turner.
Sandra married Bryan Locey, Aug. 16, 1980 in Whittemore. She was a teacher at Beaverton High School.
Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Megan of Gladwin; two sons, Sean, and Patrick, both of Gladwin; her mother, Lillian Smith of Turner; one brother, Michael Smith of Canton; one stepbrother, Alan Piechowiak of Pinconning; and one stepsister, Lenore Piechowiak of Battle Creek.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gladwin, with Rev. Father Patrick Jankowiak officiating. Burial was in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Whittemore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaverton Schools or Gladwin Athletic Association.
Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, was in charge of the arrangements.

Velda M. Jakubowski, 85, of Harbor Beach, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at Harbor Beach Long Term in Harbor Beach, following a short illness.
Born Oct. 30, 1914 in Gladwin County, she lived in Huron County for five years and previously lived in Gladwin.
Velda married Harold Jakubowski, June 24, 1936 in Beaverton. He preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1990.
She was owner/operator of the Western Auto store, retiring in 1976.
Surviving are one daughter, Colleen and husband Ernest Ortenburg of Harbor Beach; two sisters, Dorothy Warner of Clare and Donna and husband Ervin Haines of Gladwin; two granddaughters, Eryn and husband Dwight Berry of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Erica and husband Alan La Vasseur of Merritt Island, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Keith and Melissa Berry of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Heather and Rebekah La Vasseur of Merritt Island, Fla.; one aunt, Helen Ogg of Gladwin; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Verna Shearer in 1992; and one brother, Wendell Foor in 1999.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin with Rev. Timothy Verity and pastor Mark Girardin officiating. Burial was in highland Cemetery in Gladwin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church building fund, Zion Lutheran Church building fund (Harbor Beach), or Gladwin Hospice.
Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, was in charge of the arrangements.

Delores Vickers, 66, of Gladwin, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at Edna May's Country Living in Gladwin, following a long illness.
Born Dec. 6, 1933 in Zilwaukee, she lived in Gladwin County most of her life.
Delores married Charles Vickers, Dec. 15, 1951 in Gladwin. She worked in production at Standish Products in Standish. She also worked as a waitress at various Gladwin restaurants.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Scott of Gladwin; one daughter, Cindy and husband Robert Holland of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Freda Jones of Houston, Texas and Gladis and husband Jim Klosterman of Auburn; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Bettie and husband Richard Edick of Gladwin, and Loretta Vickers of Grand Rapids.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Woodrow Case; two sisters, Helen Rumpel and Thelma Paterlini; and one half-brother, Cebert Case.
Visitation will be from noon until 4 p.m. Friday at the Hall Funeral Home, 440 E. Cedar Ave., Gladwin.

Donald E. Maddox, 81, of Gladwin, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 at Bay Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 20, 1918 in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harvey and Mary Maddox.
Donald married the former Elinor Chinery, May 3, 1952 in Napoleon, Ohio. She preceded him in death in 1999.
He retired from General Motors in 1974 and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Surviving are one brother-in-law, Leo Chinery of Santa Paula, Calif.; one cousin, Mary Cochran of Dennison, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday at the Sisson Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Verity officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
