George Wilton Armstrong
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
George Wilton Armstrong, 70, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile.
Armstrong was a native of the Bryneville Community in Escambia County, Fla. and a resident of Repton most of his life. He had worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Waters of Monroeville; three brothers, Herman Armstrong of Bryneville, Clayton Armstrong of Pea Ridge, Fla., Virgil Armstrong of Flomaton; one sister, Helen Armstrong of Bryneville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Shelton Kindig, Rev. Joe Lee and Rev. Paul Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Repton Baptist Cemetery.

Roy Lee Bonner Jr.
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Roy Lee Bonner Jr., 31, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 in Frisco City.
Bonner was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and resided in Frisco City. He worked with Alabama River Newsprint Company as a paper maker for the past five years and was a member of Mexia AOH Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Bonner Sr. and two brothers, Curtis Bonner and Troy Bonner.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Bonner of Frisco City; his mother, Mary Bonner of Monroeville; two sons, Christian Bonner of Monroeville and Roy Lee Bonner III of Frisco City; a step-son, Kyalo Coleman of Frisco City; four brothers, Preston Bonner of Repton, Steven Bonner, Bobby Bonner and Robert Bonner, all of Monroeville; four sisters, Jackie Packer of Monroeville, Pamela Williams of Ollie, Kimberly Wallace of Frisco City and Tammy Childs of Mexia.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at Mexia AOH Church with Elder Darius Chapman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Clarence Dubose
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Clarence Dubose, 94, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006 at his daughter’s residence in Pascagoula, Miss.
Dubose was a native of Peterman and had lived in Monroe County all of his life. He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church in Peterman.
Survivors include his step-mother, Jeweline Smith of Peterman; one daughter, Annette Lee of Pascagoula; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation and a wake will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 one hour prior to the funeral at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Osbry Millender officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Jeremie Jermain Hands
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Jeremie Jermain Hands, 27, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 at Atmore Hospital.
Hands was a native of Monroeville and had lived in Monroe County most of his life.
Survivors include his parents, James Edward Hands of Atmore and Claretha McMillian of Pascagoula, Miss.; three brothers, James Edward Hands Sr. and Anthony Hands, both of Sarasota, Fla., and Ouenton (Shameka) R. Hands of Atmore; three sisters, Katina Green of Sarasota, Fla., Terrie Denise Ghee of Riverdale, Ga., and Tennille Jones of Atmore.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at Penn’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. E. Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Sampey AME Zion Church Cemetery in Repton.

Wanda Register Holley
O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home, Linden
Wanda Register Holley, 82, of Linden died Thursday, Nov. 2 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis.
Holley was born in Lake City, Fla. She was a former high school librarian and a member of the Linden Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, David P. Holley of Linden; four sons, James D. Holley and Wayne P. Holley, both of Monroeville; Edwin L. Holley of Clayton; Keith A. Holley of Demopolis; one sister, Zenobia Overman of Lake City; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Linden Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. with Dr. Jerry Gunnells, officiating with burial following at Linden Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Linden Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 480776, Linden, Ala. 36748.

Pnewmalean McDaniel
McKenzie’s Funeral Home, Tuskegee
Jones-Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Pnewmalean McDaniel, 91, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 in Tuskegee.
She had lived in Repton her whole life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Clayton “DC” McDaniel.
She had five children, Charlzine McDaniel Turner of Tuskegee, Daniel Clayton McDaniel Jr. of Bel Air, Md., William James (Carole) McDaniel of Nashville, Tenn., Otis Melvin (Marilyn) McDaniel of Atlanta, Ga. and Sherion Gail (Mark) McDaniel Freeman of Dothan; one brother, Charles H. McMillian; one sister, Catherine M. Lamar; two sister-in-laws, Lillie McMillian and Catherine McMillian; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11:30 a.m. at Sampey A.M.E. Zion Church in Repton. Burial followed in the Sampey Community Cemetery.

Rev. Burney McKnight
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Rev. Burney McKnight, 71, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at Marion General Hospital in Columbia, Miss.
McKnight was a native of Uriah and attended Bethlehem Industrial Academy “BIA” of Monroeville. He served as Associate Minster of Holy Cross Baptist Church of Detroit, Mich. and Grove Hill Baptist in Uriah. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Uriah.
Survivors include three sons, Burney Eugene McKnight of Battle Creek, Mich., James McKnight of Connecticut and Rodney McKnight of California; two brothers, George McKnight of Compton, Calif. and Charles McKnight of Detroit; four sisters, Rev. Claudette Brown and Mayme Johnson, both of Long Beach, Calif., Delphine Alums of Detroit and Mary “Jonas” Marks of Sandy Hook, Miss.
Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at Grove Hill Baptist Church with Rev. C. A. Lett and Rev. T.L. Douglas, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at Morning Star Cemetery.

Georgia Ann McPherson-Nettles
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Georgia Ann McPherson-Nettles, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 in College Station, Texas.
Nettles was a native of Monroeville and had lived in Monroe County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of AOH of Monroeville.
Survivors include four sons, John (Mattie) McPherson of Burnt Corn, Freddie McPherson of Bridge City, La., Tyrone (Chamella) McPherson of New Orleans, La. And Paul McPherson of College Station; two daughters, Annie Florence Lockett of Harvey, La. and Georgia Marie McPherson of New Orleans; seven brothers, Henry (Elivira) McPherson Jr., Charles (Linda) McPherson, Jimmy Lee (Patsy) McPherson, Elbert McPherson, all of Monroeville, Elder William (Elizabeth) McPherson of Kenner, La., Cedric (JoAnn) McPherson and George Lee (Virgene) McPherson, both of New Orleans; three sisters, Mildred Wiggins of New Orleans, Joyce (Alonzo) Martin of Monroeville and Hazel (Charlie) Anderson of Mobile; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at AOH Church with Elder William McPherson, eulogist and Elder David Simmons, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Daniel Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroeville.

Jacqueolyn R. Morgan
Faith Chapel Funeral Home, Pensacola, Fla.
Jacqueolyn R. Morgan,71, of Pensacola, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006.
Morgan was born in Bermuda, was a graduate of Repton High School and a member of Bermuda Baptist Church. She retired from Monsanto Pensacola Plant after working there for 31 years. She was a member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Braxton Ryland, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, James O. Morgan; two stepchildren, Patricia Morgan Barry and Steven Morgan; three sisters, Joyce Ryland Reid, Gayle
Ryland Frid and Gwendolyn Ryland Waters; one sister-in-law, Helen Ryland; one brother, James Barry (Martha) Ryland; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov, 8 at 1 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Jimmy Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Lillian Irene Stabler
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Lillian Irene Stabler, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at Monroe County Hospital.
Stabler was a native of the Mineola Community and had resided in Frisco City. She had worked as a sewing machine operator for Vanity Fair Mills and was a member of Mineola Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles Stacey of McCullough and Hollis Stacey of Hope Hull; three sisters, Jean Norwood of Frisco City, Myrtle Emmons of Atmore and Mattie Tuberville of Perdido; one granddaughter and one great-grandchild.
Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Hodges and Rev. Wayne McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Mineola Cemetery.
