The family suggests memorials to Kansas City Hospice 1625 W. 92nd STREET KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI 64114-9756 or to the Church. Mrs. Rogers was born April 12, 1919, in Kansas City, KS. and was a lifelong resident of the city. Helen was a seamstress with Donnelly Garment Co for ten years, and the Fashion-Bilt Garment Co. for thirty years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Local 114, AFL-CIO. Helen was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Howard Rogers, of the home., brother Norman Lauber, KCKS, 2 sisters, Lydia Serafin, Blue Springs, MO, Margaret Vogel, Spring Hill, KS, and many nieces and nephews. He worked for Sunshine Biscut Co. for 32 years as an elevator foreman, retiring in 1982 and later for Cereal Foods. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was an active member of Grandview Baptist Church and the American Legion. Carl is survived by his wife, Mildred Shanks R.N., of the home., Son, Donald E. Shanks, Kansas City, KS, Daughter, Karla May Colvin, Mitchell, S.D., brother, Harley R. Shanks, Poplar Bluff, MO, 2 sisters, Cousby Blair, Dora, MO, Jessie May Russell, Wichita, KS, 4 grandchildren, Susan Lyman, Karen Laube, Michael and Andrew Colvin, 3 great grandchildren, Lindsey Lyman, Lauren Lyman, and Mitchell Laube. Mr. Howlett was born February 9, 1915, in Kansas City, KS. where he was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a combat wounded Army Veteran of World War II, and received two Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Star. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, and the Normandy Invasion. Wayne was a Commodity Grader for 31 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture retiring in 1977. He was a member of the American Legion Post #199; the VFW; and the Disabled American Veterans. He attended Stony Point Baptist Church. Wayne loved to garden and spend time with his grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anna Marie Howlett, of the home; four children, Wayne Stewart Howlett, II, and his wife, Rosie, Kansas City, KS; Kerry D. Howlett, and wife, Georgia, of Kansas City, KS; Stephanie A. Howlett, Overland Park, KS; Kevin G. Howlett, Kansas City, KS; brother, Holly C. Howlett, Basehor, KS; sister, Beverly J. Marjorie was born January 13, 1925, in Kansas City, KS. and was a lifelong resident of the city. She met her husband, Robert, shortly after his discharge from the military in 1946, and they were married that same year on November 1, 1946. Marjorie was active in her church and choir at the University United Methodist Church. She was also dedicated to all her friends in the Sunset EHU Women's Club. She bowled in her Wednesday, Ladies League every winter for over thirty years up to the age of 70. She leaves her husband of 54 years, Robert E. Tevis, of the home; two sons, Richard Michael Tevis, Gardner, KS; Randy Eugene Tevis, Kansas City, KS; brother, Jack Kelly, Shawnee, KS; 3 grandchildren, Sean, Bridget, and Kurt; and 3 cousins, Linda Qaas, David Waite, and Billy Gibson Marjorie will be most remembered for her loving, outgoing personality, her eagerness to enjoy life to the fullest, and of course for her beautiful soprano voice. Dorothy S. Haren, 93, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at the Forum in Overland Park where she had been living since the death of her husband, C. Wells Haren, Sr. in 1992. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 18th & Washington Blvd., Kansas City, KS 66102. Private burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Campus Rd., Lawrence, KS 66044 or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Dorothy was born in Kansas City, MO to George P. and Hattie T. Stone. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1931 where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She continued her affiliation with Gamma Phi for many years as a member of the Corporation Board. She served as a National Council Member and received the Sorority's National Service Award in 1965. Dorothy was a past president of the Sunflower Council of Camp Fire Girls. She was a National Council member and recipient of the National Gulich Award. She was a member of the Women's City Club and former board member. She was a past President and a National Council member of the American Red Cross. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Past President of Episcopal Women. Dorothy was a member of the Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson Counties in Kansas and President of the Monday Club. She received the Matrix Award of Women in Communication in 1970. Dorothy Haren leaves her son, C.W. "Tod" Haren, Jr. and his wife, Nathalie, of Leawood, KS and her daughter Gail McMichael and her husband, Robert of Sacramento, CA, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was a 1973 graduate of St. Paul's Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. and had been a United Methodist Pastor for 30 yrs, serving at Valley Springs California U.M.C., and in the Kansas East Conference at the Buffalo-High Prairie U.M.C., Caney Group Parish, Holton Evangel U.M.C., Wyandotte U.M.C. and currently at the Easton U.M.C. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of 28 yrs, Kathy Manherz, of the home, 3 Children, Joy, Chuck and Kay, of the Kansas City area, and a sister, Jeannine Wells, Woodland, CA.
