SULLIVAN - Walter L. "Mouse" Lampton Jr., 60, Sullivan, passed away at 5 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000 at his residence. Born May 31, 1940 in Boonville, he was the son of Walter L. and Lucy (Helms) Lampton.

CHICAGO - Loren Ellis Cook, 71, of Chicago and formerly of Bloomfield, passed away at 1:49 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000 at the Edgewater Hospital in Chicago. Born Feb. 24, 1929 in Bloomfield, he was the son of William Earl and Ruth Marie (Fuller) Cook.

OAKLAND CITY - Maggie Kathryn "Kate" Clark-Lenning, 78, of Oakland City and formerly of Linton, passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 7, 2000 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City. Born April 3, 1922 in Linton, she was the daughter of Everett and Alice Pearl (Hamilton) Vaughn.

Jessie Faye (McDonald) Swaby
Jessie Faye (McDonald) Swaby, 81, of Linton, passed away at 7:45 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, 2000 at Glenburn Home in Linton. Born Aug. 27, 1919 in Linton, she was the daughter of W. Ferman and Nellie (Bridges) McDonald. She was a homemaker, and a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Jasonville.

Dennis Lee Bowersock
WINGO, Ky. - Dennis Lee Bowersock, 80, of Wingo, Ky., passed away 3:42 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000 at his residence. Born Oct. 15, 1920 in Greene County, and he was the son of George and Mary (Pruett) Bowersock. He worked for Caterpillar Tactor Company in Peoria, Ill., and he retired from Penn-Central Railroad in Terre Haute in 1972 after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Dunmore, Ky.

Jessie Elizabeth (Clark) Walton
COALMONT - Jessie Elizabeth "Libby" (Clark) Walton, 63, of Coalmont, passed away at 2 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, 2000 at her residence. Born Feb. 28, 1937 in Coalmont, she was the daughter of Jesse Hall and Mary Elizabeth (Reddy) Clark. She was a homemaker, and she attended the Coalmont Church of God as well as the Shiloh Assembly of God near Hymera.

Jennifer Gale Watkins
BLOOMFIELD - Jennifer Gale Watkins, 13, of Bloomfield, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2000 at her residence. Born March 26, 1987 in Galveston, Texas, she was the daughter of William Watkins and Linda (Davis) Leone. She was an eighth grader at Bloomfield Junior High School, and was an avid reader.

William D. "Bill" Jean
GRIFFIN - William D. "Bill" Jean, 96, of Griffin formerly of Worthington, passed away at 6:40 a.m., today, December 12, 2000 at New Harmonie Health Care Center in New Harmony. Born July 4, 1904 in Owen County, he was the son of William and Josie (Williams) Jean. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church in Worthington.

Dr. Archie C. Collins
LYONS - Dr. Archie C. Collins, 83, of Lyons, passed away at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at his residence. Born June 13, 1917 in Church Point, La., he was the son of William and Lacy (Hoffpeur) Collins. He was a physician, a doctor of osteopath at Lyons for 40 years, retired. He was a member of the Lyons Christian Church.

Janet Lou McCombs
Janet Lou McCombs, 59, of Linton passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Born April 13, 1941 in Plainville, she was the daughter of Ray and Pauline (England) Orender. She was retired from General Electric in Linton. She was a member of the Plainville Christian Church, vice president of the Hoosier Classic Cruisers, and was a graduate of Plainville High School in 1959.

Virginia "Jane" Terhune
JASONVILLE - Virginia "Jane" Terhune, 82, of Jasonville, passed away at 12:30 a.m., today, December 26, 2000 at her residence. Born March 9, 1918 in Paris, ILL., she was the daughter of Burt and Mary E. (Clark) Fulk. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasonville and very active with the Jasonville Senior Citizens.

SPENCER - Roger K. Johnson, 51, of Spencer and formerly of Jasonville, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2000 at Bloomington Hospital. Born July 4, 1949 in Sullivan County, he was the son of Howard and Catherine (Dickerson) Johnson of Jasonville. He was a self-employed contractor.

Born May 13, 1923 in Sullivan County, he was the son of Herbert and Mary (Willis) Shepherd. He was a retired mechanic, and a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army.

Born Jan. 19, 1920 in Knox County, he was the son of Edward and Stella (Freund) Loheider. He was a farmer. He was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ, Eagles Lodge in Bicknell, VFW of Bicknell, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

BRAZIL - Edna E. Evitts, 80 of Brazil, passed away at 1:14 a.m., Monday, Dec. 25, 2000 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil. Born March 31, 1920 in Sullivan County, she was the daughter of John M. and Inez (Lucas) Treadway. She was a homemaker and enjoyed singing and playing the piano.

BLOOMFIELD - Judah Dale (J.D.) Parks, 57 of Bloomfield, passed away at 7:03 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 at Bloomington Hospital. Born Aug. 17, 1943 in Bloomington, he was the son of Walter Weaver and Lola Belle (Jones) Parks. He was a retired from Labors Local 204 of Terre Haute, and he also was a farmer.

Howard C. Amell
BROWNSBURG - Howard C. Amell, 77 of Brownsburg and formerly of Linton and Logansport, passed away at 1:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 at Hendricks Community Hospital in Danville. Born Sept. 22, 1923 in Gwinn, Mich., he was the son of Stephen and Florence Amell. He was a self-employed musician, retiring in 1994. He played in several bands; was salesman for Thompson Music Co. of Logansport; and a music volunteer for Linton schools from 1990-93 and Brownsburg and Bethesda Schools from 1993-94. He was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church of Brownsburg. He was a veteran of World War II in the Army.

NEWBURGH - Mary Alice Veatch, 73, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 at her residence. Born Nov. 9, 1927 in Greene County, she was the daughter of John and Bertha (Miller) Zimmerly. She was a homemaker.

Lucille V. (Larson) Smith
Lucille V. (Larson) Smith, 82, of Linton, passed away at 3:23 a.m., Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. Born April 14, 1918 in Gettysburg, S.D., she was the daughter of Carl and Pearl (Eikelman) Larson. She graduated from Gettysburg High School at which time she received the first music scholarship given there. However, since it was during the Depression, she was unable to supply the rest of the tuition and costs to Drake University at Des Moines, Iowa. Before she left Gettysburg, she was employed at the Frank Wall Rural Credit Office as well as on the NYA Program at the Potter County Library and in the county treasurerâs office. She then graduated from the Chillicothe Missouri Business College. She was hired at Neostyle, Inc. in Chicago, Ill. She met her future husband, Kenneth Smith, in Chicago, and they were married by the Rev. Raymond Laury at a Methodist parsonage Aug. 16, 1941. After World War II, they moved to Danville, Ill., where her husband was hired at the General Electric Co. Their three children were born in Danville. The family moved to Linton on Sept. 12, 1952, when Kenneth was transferred to the new General Electric Plant. Both Kenneth and Lucille were very active in community affairs. Lucille was employed at the Keller Chair Factory office from 1965-66, then employed 16 years at the Indiana Employment Security Division, retiring April 1983. During that time, she was the acting manager for a short time when she was instrumental in keeping that office open and continued interviewing the Worthington Packing Company employees. She was an avid traveler and had toured such areas as Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, Nova Scotia, and other sections of Canada, and the Oregon Trail. She played the piano "by ear" and entertained at many functions. She was an active member of the first United Methodist Church, Ladies Elks, Psi Iota Xi, and Jolly Mothers Club, all of Linton. She was a Sunshine Volunteer at Glenburn Home

Paul V. Huey
FLORA, Ill. - Paul V. Huey, 84, of Flora, Ill., passed away at 12:34 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000 at Flora Pavilion in Flora. Born Feb. 14, 1916 in Lyons, he was the son of Benjamin and Abby (Hollingsworth) Huey. He was retired from B&O Railroad, Valley Steel, and Clay County Hospital. He was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church of Flora; past president of the Flora Eagles Lodge; and past district and state Eagle officer. He was a veteran of World War II in the Army
