Irma M. Darby, 83, of Cecil died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark. She was a homemaker and a former member of Grace Betheran Church of Brookville, Ohio. Graveside services were Monday at 11 a.m. at Eubanks Cemetery, Cecil, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons or the Salvation Army.

James Royce Adams, 81, of Mulberry died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired product support representative for J.A. Riggs Tractor Company and a member and deacon of Main Street Baptist Church in Mulberry. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was in New Cemetery in Mulberry.

Nettie Jacobs, 96, of Clarksville died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home. The widow of Roy Jacobs, she was a member of the Johnson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school and Bible school. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, with burial at Kendall Cemetery in Hartman, under the direction of Roller Cox Funeral Home.

Kay L. Robinson, 60, of Coetur D' Alene, Idaho, formerly of Ozark, died there Sept. 19, 2005, at Kootenai Medical Center. She was a former waitress at the Ozark Restaurant and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3455 in Altus. She had spent the past six months in Idaho with her sister, Jeanne Criswell. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Real Life Ministries, under the direction of English Funeral Chapel, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.

Pauline "Paula" Edgemon of Exeter, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo. She was born at Oark and attended school at Altus, where she graduated from high school. Before moving to Exeter in 1991, she lived in Kansas City, Mo., for several years and was employed with Handlemans, a warehouse distributor, from which she retired. She was a member of Teamsters Local Union #41, serving as steward for several years, and was also a member of American Legion Post 118 Auxiliary. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Mo. Burial was in Chitwood Cemetery, Wheaton, Mo.

Arlis Wayne Mantooth, 69, of Van Buren died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, in a Van Buren nursing home. Born in Franklin County, he was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Navy veteran and a Free Will Baptist. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown's Chapel Cemetery, northeast of Charleston, with burial under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

Freda Story, 91, of Ozark, the widow of Jesse Story, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Ozark First United Methodist Church, the D.A.R. and the United Methodist Women. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ozark First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

Gorman O'Neal, 79, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Fayetteville. He was an Army veteran and a retired Ford dealer. Local survivors include a brother, Bill O'Neal of Coal Hill. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery, Clarksville, under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Marie Roe Reynolds, 81, of Mulberry, the widow of Eual Reynolds, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at Mulberry. She was a housewife and self-employed, of the Assembly of God faith and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God, with burial at New Cemetery in Mulberry.

Amy Lea Jones, 56, of Booneville died Nov. 30, 2005, in Booneville. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Local survivors include a sister, Ann Powell of Ozark. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday at Roberts Memorial Chapel, Booneville, with burial in Carolan Cemetery near Booneville.

Tommy Joe Hamilton, 34, of Charleston, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in an accident near Plummerville. Funeral services were Friday at 2 p.m. at Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tommy Joe Hamilton Fund, Account No. 4086252 at First National Bank of Barling.

Andy James Martin, 82, of Sapulpa, Okla., formerly of Johnson County, died Nov. 28, 2005, at Continuous Care Center in Sapulpa. He was a retired wood worker. Local survivors include a brother, Buddy Martin, and a sister, Norma O'Connor, both of Ozark. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller-Cox Chapel in Clarksville, with burial at Oark Cemetery.

Edith Bumpers Carney, 86, of Oakland, Calif., died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in an Oakland hospital. Born at Cecil, she was a graduate of Charleston High School, she worked as a dental assistant to Dr. Prentiss Ware in Fort Smith and later retired from Standard Oil Company in Oakland. Following cremation, a memorial service was held Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Oakland.

Lorene Timmerman, 83, of Altus, the widow of Hubert Timmerman, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. She worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II and was a retired cook for St. Mary's School. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she was also a member in the St. Mary's Quilting Club, Franklin County EH Club, Altus Historical Society and St. Mary's Mother's Society and served as an alderman of Wiederkehr Village. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shaffer Funeral Home. Funeral mass was recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Eskil Swaim, 90, of Altus died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship at Altus and was a retired, self-employed electrical and general construction worker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rella Swaim, and his stepson, Michael Collins. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Houston Cemetery, Alix.

Ruth Opheim, 104, of Lamar died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, in a Lamar nursing home. Born in New York, she was the widow of Melford Opheim. She had no survivors. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Hartman Cemetery, under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Bill Sawitsky, 95, of Ozark died Thursday, Feb. 2, in Ozark. He was a farmer and formerly owned and operated Sawitsky Drive-in. Born Dec. 23, 1910, at Alix he as the son of the late William and Mary Lueautzky. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Leslie Anne Hurst and three sisters, Katie Sawitsky, Adella Kranc and Annie Kranc. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Simpson Sawitsky; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Don Hurst of Alix; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Dana Sawitsky of Alix; sister, Agnes Leverette of Alix; six grandchildren, Rick and Randy Hurst, Carole McCormick, Sandy Blancett, Sara Currier and Matt Sawitsky; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Erick, Jade, Whitley, Joey and Bradley Hurst, David and Cody Dye, Ethan McCormick and Mya Sawitsky. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Houston Cemetery with Shelby Floyd officiating.

Kenneth Sams, 74, of Coal Hill died Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Lamar. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Mann and Sheila McCalmon, both of Shawnee, Kan.; three sons, Gary Sams of Bashor, Kan., Ray Allen Sams of Coal Hill and Melvin Sams of Van Buren; two sisters, Martha Turner and Mary Gustafson, both of Coal Hill; brother, Claude Sams of Yakima, Wash; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Coal Hill Cemetery with Marion Wood and Mar Wood officiating.

Conley Charles Ritchie, 96, of Clarksville died Jan. 28 at Countryside Manor, Lamar. Survivors include two daughters, Freda Immel of Clarksville and Kathy Davis of Lake Jackson, Texas; three sons, Charles and Douglas Ritchie, both of Clarksville and Harold G. Ritchie of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters Lavada Hilton of Ellington, Mo., Vinnie Daniel of Ora, Mo., and Georgia Millos Sikeston, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. at Roller Cox Funeral Home Chapel, Clarksville. Burial was at Hogan Cemetery at Hunt.

Austin Shawn Wooden Gregory, infant son of Meagan Wooden and Anthony Gregory, both of Alma, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, in an area hospital. Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Monday at Morrison Cemetery at Rudy under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Carolyn Shores, 52, of Charleston died Monday, Feb. 6, in Charleston. Survivors include two daughters, Monica Garrett of Alma and Paula Morland of Fayetteville; son, Damon Shores of Roland, Okla.; two sisters, Brenda Roland of Charleston and Glenda Fryar of Ozark; brother, James Medlock of Charleston and six grandchildren. Funeral servies are today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in fort Smith with burial at New Cemetery, Mulberry.

Robert Wayne Fuller, 70, of Mulberry died Saturday, June 3, 2006, in Van Buren. He was a retired farmer and the widower of Clara Fuller. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tyronza Cemetery, under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree.

Jewel Marie Kirby Hill, 86, of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Wasco, Calif., died Friday, June 2, 2006, in Bakersfield. Born at Watalula, north of Ozark, she was a member of Stine Road Baptist Church and "The Happy Hookers" women's crafts group in Wasco and was a participant at the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She was the aunt of Genell Crouch, Linda Watson, Judith Armstrong and Ermel Chancey, all of Ozark. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wasco Memorial Park, Wasco, Calif., under the direction of Peters Funeral Home of Wasco.

Mildred Estep, 77, of Ozark died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, in Ozark. She was a retired hospital cook. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Cook Cemetery in Logan County.

Velvia McGuire, 83, of Oark died Monday, June 5, 2006, at her home. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, James, and a son, Kenneth. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Patterson Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Doris Marie Dickerson, 71, of Ozark died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in Ozark. Born at Mountain Top, she was a homemaker. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
