Lawrence Petrola, 53, of Toms River passed away August 8, 2006 at Community Medical Center Hospice Division, Toms River.
Born in Jersey City he resided in Hazlet before moving to Brick 30 years ago.
Mr. Petrola was a Corporal with the Ocean County Department of Corrections for 24 years. For 19 years he served as the treasurer of the Executive Board PBA Local 258, where he became a Silver Life Card member. Larry loved the organization and was very instrumental in organizing and supporting the Executive Committee.
Surviving are his wife Dalla Harris Petrola. His son Lawrence Petrola and daughter Melissa Petrola both of Brick. His mother Elmira Petrola of Toms River. His brother and sisters Thomas Petrola of Brick, Toni Weaver of Virginia and Robyn Bryant of Cliffwood Beach, NJ.
Visiting will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Funeral services will be Saturday 10:00am at the funeral home arrive at 9:30am. Interment Ocean County Memorial Park.

Andrew Nadzan Jr., 71, of Toms River passed away on August 9, 2006 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Newark, NJ moved to Union, NJ and then moved to Toms River in 1990.
He graduated Union High School in 1952, and attended the Tool and Machine Design school of Hyatt Roller Bearing Division of General Motors Corp. He served in the Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia from 1956 to 1958, where he served as a US Army Engineer. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter #04504,member of the Holy Name Society, member of the 3rd order Carmelite of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and was a Eucharist Minister all of St. Justin's RC Church, Toms River.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Patricia B. Nadzan, three children Andrew Nadzan III of Brick, Brian Nadzan of Cortlandt Manor, NY and Roberta Bujdos of Toms River and 7 grandchildren. He was a dear brother of Janet Bahr of Moorestown, NJ and brother to Joseph Nadzan of Elizabeth, NJ.

Margherita Cordasco, 82, of Toms River, passed on Monday, August 7, 2006 at Community Medical Center, Van Dyke Hospice, Toms River.
Born in Teora, Italy she came this country in 1960 settling in Newark, she moved to Toms River in 1986. Mrs. Cordasco was a homemaker. She was a parishioner of St. Lucy RC Church, and the Caposelese Club of Newark, a member of the Holiday City Senior Club of Toms River.
She is predeceased by her husband Giulio in 1987. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law Donato & Lynn Cordasco of Forked River, Pasquale & Laura Cordasco of Cedar Grove and Guilio Cordasco of Ft Lauderdale, FL. Two daughters and sons-in-law Tina & Walter Fudali of Toms River, Jo Ann & James Bollentin of Bayville. One sister Virginia Casale of Caldwell, 7 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren.

Marquerite Romano, 78, of Toms River, Passed on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Shorrock Gardens in Brick.
Born in Jersey City she lived in Union City before moving to Toms River in 1982. Mrs. Romano was a homemaker. She was a member of St Justin RC Church, Toms River. Her husband Joseph predeceased her in 1994.
She is survived by four sons Joseph, William, Robert all of Toms River and Louis of Ridgefield Park. Three daughters Marquerite Markey and Louise Mercurio both of Toms River, Mary Olivera of Beachwood, one brother William Clynes of Hasbrouck Heights, 25 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Jennie M. Messina, 77, of Toms River passed away August 3, 2006 at home.
Born in Asbury Park he resided in Lyndhurst before moving to Toms River 6 years ago. Mrs. Messina was a Crossing Guard for the Lyndhurst Police Department for 25 years, she retired several years ago.
Predeceased by her brother Ralph DeMarco. Surviving are her husband Joseph S. Messina. Her sons and daughter in laws Vincent and Linda Messina, Thomas and Roseann Messina and Anthony and Dawn Messina. Her daughters and son in laws Judy Piscatowski, Janet and Eddie Rich, Kathleen and Curt Pachtinger. Her brothers James DeMarco and sisters Rose Lemma, Marie Ferinde and Claire Gutkowski. 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Alice Pisano, 85, of Lakewood, passed on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland she came to this country in 1947 settling in Brooklyn she lived in Smithtown, LI before moving to Lakewood in 1992. Mrs Pisano was a Cafeteria Worker for 22 years at the Smithtown, L.I. Schools she retired in 1992. She was a member of the Visitation Church, Brick.
She is survived by her husband Joseph. Three sons Joseph of Wading River, L.I., Michael of Commack, NY and Robert of Milledgeville, GA. One brother James Durning of Kearny, three sisters Sadie Young of Detroit, Michigan, Annie McGowan of Forrest Hill, NY and Margaret Alessi of Lakewood. Four grandchildren Ellen, Joseph, Robert and Michael.

Francesco E. Marafioti, 83, passed on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at home.
Born in Calabria, Italy he came to this country in 1963 settling in Glenn Cove, L.I., he moved to Wall Township in 1973 and Toms River in 1986. Mr. Marafioti was Owner of the Franks Custom Tailor Shop in Bradley Beach for 25 years retired 20 years ago. He was a parishioner of St. Justin RC Church, Toms River, a member of the Seaside Italian American Club.
He is survived by his wife Elvira (nee Petula). One son Michael Angelo of Wall Township and his daughter Ann LaForgia of Toms River. 5 grandchildren Melissa, Christine, Eugene, Brieana and Santino. 2 great grandchildren Ella Rose & Seth Paul.

Peter Edward Donahue, 84, of Brick, passed on Monday, July 31, 2006 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born in Jersey City he lived in Harrison before moving to Toms River were he lived for 28 years, he then moved to Brick in 2001. Mr Donahue was a Fireman for 30 years for the Town of Harrison, he retired in 1982. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, a member of the F.M.B.A Local 22 of Harrison, Retired Fireman of Local 500 and a former member of the Elks in Paramus. He was a parishioner of St Justin RC Church, Toms River.
He is survived by his wife Catherine (nee Dwyer). Three sons and daughters-in-law Peter & Barbara of Kearny, Richard & Beverly of Toms River, Donald & Jacqueline of Manalapan. 5 grandchildren Robyn, Kelly, Richard Jr, Casey and Kelsey, one great grandchild Christian.

William H. Mericle, 80, of Brick, passed on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at community Medical Center Van Dyke Hospice.
Born in Newark he lived in Irvington before moving to Brick in 1985. Mr. Mericle started his career as a Teacher in the Irvington School System at Berkeley Terrace, Mt Vernon and Irvington High School and Grove St School, he was the Principle of Myrtle Ave Junior High School for 4 years before becoming Principle of the Irvington High School from 1978 - 1985. Mr. Mericle had dropped out of Irvington High School to join the Navy during WW II, while serving he earned his G.E.D., after he was discharged he joined the Irvington Police Department, he attended Seton Hall University while on the police department earning his BS in 1958 and his Masters in 1962. He retired as principal from the same high School that he dropped out of. He was a trainer of the Swim Team and a coach for the football Team. He was a member of the Irvington Lyons Club and the American Legion of Irvington.
He is predeceased by his wife June who passed in 1998. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-laws Thomas & Gina of Linden, two daughters and son-in-laws Karen & James Suter of Toms river and a chosen daughter and son in law Irene & Douglas Compton of Hope, NJ. 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Edward J. Skribner, 77, of Brick, passed on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Newark he lived in Rahway before moving to Brick in 2002. Mr. Skribner was the Co-owner and Chef of Bodholts Diner in Newark for 40 years retiring in 1990. He was a Navy Veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of the Men's Club of Lions Head South, Brick.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Todd Skribner. One son Stephen R. of Florida, two daughter Jo-Ann Skribner-Argenziano of Landing, Leslie S. McCusker of Phillipsburg. Two brothers Richard of Belleville, Joseph of Poultney, VT, two sisters Viola Mueller of Brick and Anita Hunter of Caldwell. 7 grandchildren.

Peter A. Cappello, 81, of Toms River passed away July 29, 2006 at home.
Born in Newark he resided in East Orange and Whippany before moving to Toms River in 1990. Mr. Cappello was a Shift Supervisor for the Lucent Company in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, he retired in 1989. He was a Merchant Marine Veteran of World War II. A member of the Toms River American Legion, the US Armed Guard Association, the VFW Post 8867 and AMVETS.
Surviving are his wife Antoinette Mercadante Cappello. His sons Louis of Clifton, NJ, Joseph of Lebanon Twsp., NJ, Peter of Toms River, Paul of Rockwall, Texas and John of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Mr. Cappello is also survived by his 12 grandchildren.

Harold Orville Emmons, 85, of Brick, passed Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Farmingdale he lived in Scotch Plains and Brielle, he moved to Toms River in 1966 and Brick two years ago. Mr. Emmons was a Drafting Supervisor for Bell Laboratories in Whippany, Murray Hill and Holmdel for 40 years before retiring in 1981. He was a ham radio operator and made contact with other ham radio operators during WW II during the Berlin Airlift in Frankfurt, Germany, including a neighbor who piloted supplies there. He also was a 50 year member of the Atlas Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons in Westfield. He enjoyed playing golf at Monmouth County Courses and Vero Beach, Florida.
He is predeceased by his son Richard in 1993. Surviving are his wife of 64 years Margaret, a son Robert of Brick, his sister Shirley Conk of Vero Beach, Florida, a nephew James Gibson of Howell and two nieces Barbara Dayton of Howell and Judith Kiesler of Cranbury.

Margaret Mary "May" nee Gavin Faughnan, 83, of Brick, NJ passed away July 20, 2006 at the Hospice Division, Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Brooklyn, New York lived most of her life in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, she moved to Brick in 1992. She was a member of the Mother's Club at St. Agatha RC Church, a member of Our Lady of Angels Rosary Society and Bishop Ford Mother's Guild all of Brooklyn, New York.
Mrs. Faughnan was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Thomas Gavin, Eugene Gavin, Francis Gavin, Kathleen Lee, Helen Mullaney and Robert Gavin. Surviving are her loving husband Stephen Thomas Faughnan. Her devoted children Stephen Jr., Timothy, Donald, Andrew and Margaret "Peggy" Sullivan. Her brother John Gavin and her sister Joan Gregory of Newbury, NY and her 18 grandchildren.

Rosalie Craparotta, 88, of Toms River passed away July 19, 2006 at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Born in Sicily she came to the United States to settle in Newark where she resided before moving to Toms River 30 years ago.
Mrs. Craparotta was a homemaker.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Craparotta who died in 1991. Surviving are her devoted brother and sister in law Frank F. and Helen S. Bilello of Toms River and many loving nieces and nephews.
A mass of a Christian Burial will be held on Friday 10:30am at St. Justin’s RC Church, Toms River. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River. Kenneth Allen Arabea, 63, of Toms River passed away July 18, 2006 at home.
Born in New York, New York he resided in Norwood, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1973. He was Vice President of Operations for CARCO-Carteraoto, before moving to Toms River. He later worked for GPU Nuclear for 16 years, then Ocean County For 8 years. Ken was an avid Golfer at Bey Lea Golf course, enjoying not only the game but also the good times shared with his dear friends.
Surviving are his mother Helen J. Arabea of California, his beloved Carol Scarpinato of Toms River her children William Scarpinato of Maryland and Denise Luty of Barnegat. His brother and sister in law George and Ellen Arabea of South Carolina. His sister Karen and Eugene Campana California. His nieces and nephews, Christopher and Lorena Campana of South Carolina, Todd and Casey Campana of Georgia, Gregory and Catalina Campana of California, Alisa Campana of California, Russell Campana of North Carolina, Alex, Kristin and Courtney Arabea all of South Carolina. His 2 great nieces and 5 great nephews. Also surviving are his son and daughter in law William and Lisa Arabea, daughter Heather Arabea and granddaughter Emily Arabea all of New Jersey.

Agnes DiGuiseppe, (nee Mattia), 8, of Toms River, formerly of Newark, passed on Monday, July 17, 2006 at her home.
Born in Newark were she lived until moving to Toms River 45 years ago.
Mrs DiGuiseppe's husband Constantine predeceased her in 1992, she is also predecesed by her sister Josephine Tobia. Mrs DiGuiseppe is survived by a son Nicholas of Florida, two daughters Corinne Attanasio of Livingston and Joanne Saley of Whitehouse Station. Two grandchildren Carla & Crista Attanasio and a brother Gus Mattia.

Born in Brooklyn, NJ she resided in Colonia before moving to Toms River 12 years ago. Rosalie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Garden Club and Women's Club of Greenbriar Woodlands and played Mah Jongg and Bridge.
She is survived by her husband Charles R. Kurtz, her sons Steven of Hershey, Pennsylvania, Robert Kurtz and Bruce Kurtz both of Highlands, NJ. A daughter Barbara Kuendel of Atlantic Highlands and her 5 grandchildren.

Stanley Shafer, 81, of Lakewood, NJ passed on, Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Health South Rehabilitation at Union Hospital, Union.
Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, Mr. Shafer was longtime resident of Berkeley Heights NJ. He was employed as a Layout man for Allied Steel in Kenilworth NJ for over 25 yrs. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, and a Purple Heart recipient.
He is survived by his daughter Suzanne Squires of Scottsdale, AZ, son Robert Shafer, daughter in law, Laura Shafer, two grandchildren Leigh and Dylan of Muscatine, IA, brothers Theodore of Linden, NJ and Charles of Yardley, PA He is also predeceased by his brother Franklin.

Charles L. Moen, 78, of Toms River, passed on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at home.
Born in Little Fall where he lived until moving to Toms River 12 years ago. Mr. Moen was a Supervisor of Signal Services Repair for the N. J. Transit for 50 years retiring in 1993. He was a WW II Army Veteran, a member of the Little Falls V.F.W., Holiday City at Silverton Fishing Club and the Moose Lodge. His wife Eleanore passed on June 18, 2006.
He is survived by two sons Kevin of Lafayette and Robert of N.C., two daughters Susan Miller of PA and Tracy Stodnick of Browns Mills. One brother Edward of Kinnelon and 12 grandchildren. He is also predeceased by a brother John and his sister Eleanore Brychta.

Bertha Karwowski, 86, of Maplewood, NJ passed away July 11, 2006 at home.
Before retiring, in the late 1960's as a Varistor, she was employed by Victory Engineering Corp. for 20years. She was an avid gardener and a wonderful homemaker.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward, in 1987, her brother Charles Kochan and her sister Mary Kochan. Surviving are her son and daughter in law Dr. Henry and Patricia Karwowski of Toms River, her three grandchildren Tricia,
Kimberly, Scott and her great granddaughter Alexis.

Angelina Schumatti, 90, of Toms River passed away July 6, 2006 at Country Manor Nursing Center, Toms River.
Born in Cliffwood, NJ she resided in Cliffwood and Elizabeth before moving to Toms River in 1974. Mrs. Schumatti was a Seamstress at Manheim Clothing Company, Elizabeth for 15 years retiring 50 years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 1979.
Surviving are her son and daughter in law Augustus "Augie" and Susan Schumatti of Harrington, Del and her daughter and son in law Teresa and Richard Wray of Toms River. Her sisters Lucy Mehes and Victoria DeBaro both of Parlin. Her grandchildren Kim and Rick, Richy, Leslie, John, Gloria and Augie. Her great grandchildren Kelly, Amanda, William and Luke.
Visiting will be Monday 9:00am to 10:30am at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Mass of a Christian burial will follow 11:00am at Church of the Visitation RC Church, Brick. Interment Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.

Michael C. Tedesco, 27, of Toms River passed away July 5, 2006.
Born in Toms River he was a life long resident.
He was a Dock Builder and had worked for Acme Piling Company in Toms River.
He is survived by his mother Janice Tedesco of Toms River, his father and his stepmother Thomas and Deanie Tedesco Sr. of Toms River. His maternal grandparents Jean and Chet Petersen of Toms River. A brother Thomas Tedesco Jr. of Toms River. His sisters Amanda Tedesco of Kentucky, Laura Robbins of Island Heights, NJ, Alexis Tedesco of Toms River and Abbey Tedesco of Little Egg Harbor Twsp.
Visiting will be Saturday 10:00am to 12:00noon at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Funeral services will be Saturday 12:00noon at the funeral home. Interment Silverton Cemetery, Toms River

William C. Booth, 89, of Toms River passed away July 6, 2006 at Green Acres Manor, Toms River.
Born in Haledon, NJ he resided in Totowa Boro and Lakewood before moving to Toms River 25 years ago. Mr. Booth was a Mechanic for PSEG in Springfield for 40 years retiring in 1975.
He was the husband of the late Grace Booth who died in 1998. Surviving are his sister in law Marlene A. Barry of Toms River and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Saturday 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd.. Toms River, NJ. Cremation private. In lieu of flowers donations to Care Alternative, 70 Jackson Avenue, Cranford, NJ 07016 would be appreciated

Peter J. Castagna, 84, of Toms River, passed on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at home.
Born in Frosolone, Italy he came to this Country in 1927 settling in Jersey City, he lived in Rutherford and North Haledon before moving to Toms River in 1995. Mr. Castagna was a machinist for Walter Kidde Aeronautics in Belleville for 14 years, he retired in 1983. He was a WW II Navy Veteran and a parishioner of St. Justin's RC Church, Toms River.
He is survived by his wife Anne (nee DePascalis). Two sons and daughter-in-laws John & Nancy Castagna of Union and Peter & Angela of Lebanon. Two daughters and son-in-law Gloria & Jim DeSimone of Wyckoff and Donna Castagna of Toms River. One sister Mary Avagliano of Jersey City and 7 grandchildren.
Visiting will be Friday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd, Toms River. Funeral Saturday arrive at the Funeral Home 8:30 am, Funeral Mass to follow 9:30 am St. Justin RC Church, Toms River, entombment Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Holy Redeemer Hospice, 6727 Delilah Road, Egg Harbor Township 08234 would be appreciated

Raul A. Jimenez, 74 of Brick, passed on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Havana, Cuba he came to this country in 1970 settling in Union City, he moved to Brick 5 years ago. He was mechanical engineer for Esso Refinery. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Nilda. Three daughters Nilda Falcon of Florida, Violeta Alvarez of Brick and Mercedes Quesanda of Toms River. One brother Charles of Florida. Loving grandfather of 8.
Visiting will be Tuesday 4-8 pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd, Toms River, Funeral Services Wednesday 11:00 am at the Funeral Home, you may arrive at 10:30 am, entombment St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
