ESTHER GIACOMINI BERTONI, 90, of Clifton died Saturday. She had been a teacher in the Clifton school system and also taught English to immigrants. She was a graduate of Montclair State College. She was a member of the National and New Jersey Education associations. She had served on the board of directors of the Clifton Library and the Committee for a Hospital for Clifton, and was a charter member of the Women's Council of the Clifton Boys and Girls Club and of the Cordial Women's Club, Clifton. She was a member of the St. Brendan's Parents Association; North Jersey Country Club, Wayne; the Lombardi Club, Clifton; and the Lacordaire Academy Parents Association, Montclair. She also was a participant in the New York Military Academy Parents Guild and had been a volunteer at The General Hospital at Passaic. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Clifton. Arrangements: Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, Van Houten Avenue, Clifton.

GERTRUDE F. "SHONIC" SCHONIGER BERGHOLT, 97, of Teaneck died Saturday. She had been a teacher in Minnesota. She was a member of the Hackensack University Medical Center auxiliary and a 48-year member of Hackensack Country Club. Arrangements: Volk-Leber Funeral Home, Teaneck.

FREDRICK BURRIS, 44, of Paterson died Thursday. He had worked for Santino's Carpentry. Arrangements: Bragg Funeral Home, Paterson.

MARJORIE H. KURTZ CONTI, 97, of Lodi and Maywood died Saturday. Arrangements: Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus.

ANDREW CSANITZ, 71, of Bloomingdale died Saturday. He was born in Hungary. He had been a mason and a member of Bricklayers Union Local 4, Morristown. He was a member of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, North Bergen. Arrangements: Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale.

RUTH HEFFLER, 74, of Monroe Township, formerly of Fair Lawn, died Sunday. She was past president of the Jewish Community Council and was a member of Hadassah, both in Fair Lawn. Arrangements: Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, Paramus.

ISABEL CHICAVICH HILL, 79, of Upper Saddle River died Saturday. Before retiring, she worked for North American Philips Co. in Mahwah. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Presentation, Saddle River. Arrangements: Van Emburgh-Sneider Funeral Home, Ramsey.

MARIAN WINTERS JACOBSEN, 102, of Union City died Sunday. She was born in Norway. She was a member of First Congregational Church of River Edge and the Union City Senior Citizens Association. Arrangements: Leber Funeral Home, Union City.

WALTER LAPSZYNSKI, 90, of Wayne died Saturday. He was born in Poland and came to the United States in 1971. Before retiring in 1991, he worked for the Spindle Top Diner and previously for Strawberry Blossom Farm and Garden Center, Wayne. He was a member of St. Joseph Polish Catholic Church, Passaic. Arrangements: Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, Wayne.

WALPURGA A. PLANK LEVICH, 76, of Clifton died Saturday. She was born in Austria and came to the United States in 1952. Arrangements: Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, Lexington Avenue, Clifton.

ROBERT A. MAIN SR., 82, of Galveston, Texas, formerly of Wyckoff, died Thursday. He was the founder of Robert A. Main & Sons Inc., Wyckoff. He was a graduate of Ohio State University. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Arrangements: Malloy & Son Funeral Home, Galveston.

MARY McCLOUD of Paterson died last Monday. Arrangements: Bragg Funeral Home, Paterson.

CATHERINE E. MEISH MEIER, 92, of Jersey City died Saturday. Before retiring in 1975, she was a clerk for F.W. Woolworth Co. in Jersey City, where she worked for 20 years. Arrangements: Gorny & Opuda Lakeview Memorial Home, Clifton.

IDA H. NATHAN, 64, of Vernon died Sunday. She had been a beautician at Gino's Beauty Salon, Wayne. She also had worked as a nanny. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church, Vernon. Arrangements: Moore's Home for Funerals, Wayne.

FRANK J. OWENS, 82, of Denville, formerly of Paterson, died Saturday. He was born in Ireland. Before retiring in 1982, he was a manager for the U.S. Postal Service in Hawthorne, where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Denville. Arrangements: Norman Dean Home for Services, Denville.

DENNIS A. PETRELLO, 51, of Roseland, formerly of Palisades Park and West New York, died Saturday. He had been senior executive vice president of Essex Bank, Caldwell, where he worked for 29 years, and was a member of the Financial Managers Organization. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, Cedar Grove. He was a member of the Caldwell Kiwanis Club. Arrangements: Shook Funeral Home, Cedar Grove.

JOSEPH PUSKAS, 82, of Clifton died Saturday. Before retiring in 1985, he was a plant manager and general foreman for John Royle & Son Co., Paterson, where he worked for 50 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, Clifton, and a member of its PrimeTimers. He was a member of the Clifton Seniors, the Valley Seniors, and AARP. Arrangements: Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, Van Houten Avenue, Clifton.

ERNEST A. REIMER SR. of Toms River, formerly of Pompton Plains, died Sunday. Before retiring, he owned a delivery route for Martin Rolls, Wall Township, and previously for Arnold Bread Co., Paterson, for 20 years. He was a member of the Steinauer Club, North Bergen. Arrangements: Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, Toms River.

ANTHONY RIZZO SR., 85, of Englewood died Saturday. Arrangements: Flanagan Funeral Home, Clifton.

PEGGY A. ROLLINS of East Orange, formerly of Paterson, died Sunday. Arrangements: Bragg Funeral Home, Paterson.

PUNAMCHAND H. SHAH, 87, of West Paterson died Sunday. He was born in India. Before retiring, he was a self-employed clothing merchant in India. Arrangements: The Madonna Multinational Home for Funerals, Passaic.

ROSE LOPES SPINELLO, 78, of Elmwood Park died Saturday. Arrangements: Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, Elmwood Park.

JANET HARKNESS SWART, 97, of Tenafly died Friday. She had been teacher of the deaf for the Newark Board of Education and a teaching assistant at The Elisabeth Morrow School, Englewood. She also had owned the gift shop at the Clinton Inn, Tenafly. Arrangements: Barrett Funeral Home, Tenafly.

ROGELIO VAZQUEZ of Paterson died Sept. 19. He was born in Puerto Rico. Arrangements: Bragg Funeral Home, Paterson.

TONY VIRGILITO, 76, of Clifton died Sunday. Before retiring, he was a truck driver for Eastern Freightways, Moonachie, where he worked for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7165, Clifton, and the Destroyer Escort Society. He was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, Clifton, where he served as an usher. Arrangements: Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, Van Houten Avenue, Clifton.

IVAN WYNNYCKYJ, 89, of Passaic died Saturday. He was born in Ukraine and came to the United States in 1961. He had been self-employed construction worker for 30 years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Passaic, and its Seniors. Arrangements: Marrocco Memorial Chapel, Colfax Avenue, Clifton.
