Charles Furgeson
Charles E. Furgeson Sr., 67, of Prescott, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Prescott.
He was born April 11, 1932, in Bowling Green, Ky., to John R. and Annie (Borders) Furgeson.
Mr. Furgeson served for six years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married his wife, Dorothy, in 1969.
He worked as a cement finisher for many years, and moved to Phoenix in 1959 and to Mayer in 1977. He was a hard-working man who loved his family.
Mr. Furgeson is survived by his daughter, Cindy Fredrick; son, Charles; sister, Lucille Fransen of Carefree; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, a daughter and a brother.
A private cremation was at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

Vernon Shanahan
Vernon R. Shanahan, 86, of Prescott Valley, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Prescott.
He was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Sauk Centre, Minn., to William and Marie (Werhan) Shanahan.
Mr. Shanahan worked in a farming co-op in Minnesota for many years, retiring in 1973. He was a past mayor of Hoffman, Minn., and was an elder in St. John's Lutheran Church in Villard, Minn. He was also a member of the Prescott Valley Lions Club.
He married La Verne Ann Skurat Oct. 23, 1936, in her parents' home in Villard, Minn. They moved to Arizona from Minnesota in 1975.
Mr. Shanahan loved oil painting, hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, La Verne; daughter, Ann Wilder of Spring, Texas; sisters, Mava Barchenger of Sauk Centre, Minn., and Marie Hanson of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were at 10 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Prescott Valley, with Pastor Dennis Morner officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to your local Salvation Army.

John Kocisko
John M. "Jack" Kocisko, 83, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott.
He was born June 16, 1916, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Michael and Anna (Tkach) Kocisko.
Mr. Kocisko served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific and European theaters. He worked for Hughes Aircraft Company as a fireman and security specialist.
He moved to Tucson from Ohio in 1954, and to Prescott in 1979. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Kocisko centered his life on his wife and sons, and was proudest of his service to his country and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose; sons, Robert of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Wayne of Flagstaff; sister, Helen Stuart of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; brother, George of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott. A scripture rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon John Lamon presiding.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave., Prescott, with the Rev. Fred LeClaire, C.M.F., presiding. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dewey.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army, 237 S. Montezuma St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Scott Forbes
Scott G. Forbes, 42, of Prescott Valley, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Flagstaff.
He was born Dec. 8, 1957, in Inglewood, Calif., to James and Nancy (Tyler) Forbes.
Mr. Forbes was a truck driver for several years. He married Karla Kellenberger on April 2, 1979. They moved to Arizona from California in 1990, and to Prescott Valley in 1996.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Prescott Valley.
Mr. Forbes is survived by his wife, Karla; sons, Matthew and Phillip, both of Prescott Valley; brother, Michael of Ventura, Calif.; sister, Skyler of Phoenix; mother, Nancy of Sedona; and grandmother, Elsa Tyler of Ventura, Calif.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7885 E. Long Look Drive, Prescott Valley. Funeral services will follow at the church at 10:30 a.m., with Bishop Mark Davidson officiating.

Edwin McQuistion
Edwin Bruce McQuistion, 81, of Chino Valley, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Prescott.
He was born Feb. 9, 1918, in Wellsville, Ohio, to Robert L. and Lillian Mae (Haney) McQuistion.
Mr. McQuistion served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1943. He married Gracie Mai Brown Dec. 23, 1943.
They moved to Phoenix in 1953 from Chapel Hill, Tenn., and to Yavapai County in 1981. He worked 17 years as a traffic control counter for the Arizona State Highway Department, retiring in 1978.
Mr. McQuistion was a member of the Prescott Valley Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling, and was proud of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie Mai; daughters, Betty Camp of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cindy Rourke of Boise, Idaho, and Connie Kay of Prescott; sons, Joe of Peoria, Jerry of Ardmore, Okla., Carl of Henderson, Nev., and Phil of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Bill of Apache Junction; sister, Erla Hall of Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home and cremation at Bradshaw Crematory were private. Burial will be at Sun West Cemetery in El Mirage.

Mary Hill
Mary Marguerite Hill, 80, of Chino Valley, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Chino Valley.
She was born Jan. 2, 1920, to James and Nellie N. (Hoffman) Egan.
Mrs. Hill had worked as a PBX operator before her retirement. She moved from Vancouver, Wash., to Lake Havasu City in 1994, and to Chino Valley in 1995.
She loved going to yard sales, and enjoyed cooking and reading. She was proudest of her family.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her daughter, Melody Stevens of Chino Valley; son, Mike of Bullhead City; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private cremation was at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

Vincent Feeley
Vincent M. Feeley, 82, of Prescott, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Prescott.
He was born Feb. 1, 1917, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Thomas and Cecelia (McHill) Feeley.
Mr. Feeley served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He saw action at Oro Bay, New Guinea Island, Cape Gloucester, New Britain, Island Peleliu, Palau Is-land and Okinawa, Ryukyu Island.
He retired in 1988 as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in San Francisco. He moved to Prescott in 1997 from California. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mr. Feeley is survived by his brothers, Patrick of Prescott, Frank of West Frankfort, Ill., Eamon of Colorado Springs, Colo., John of Ankeny, Iowa, and Ambrose of LaCeiba, Honduras; and sister, Mary of Kiltmiagh, Ireland.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marcella Williams, and brother, Joseph.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Prescott. The Rev. Gerald Caffrey, C.M.F., will officiate, and honors will be provided by the Honor Detail of the American Legion Post 6.
Concluding services will be in Des Moines, Iowa.

David Sargent
David Proctor Sargent, 72, of Prescott Valley, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in Prescott Valley.
He was born Dec. 24, 1927, in Johnson, Vt., to Neal and Vivian (Parker) Sargent.
After serving with the occupying forces in Japan, Mr. Sargent returned to Johnson, Vt., in 1946, where he worked as a mill worker, dairy farmer and postal employee.
He married Frances Louise Stearns on June 25, 1949. They moved to Phoenix in 1956. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church of Phoenix, and was employed as store manager with B.F. Goodrich Tires until his re-tirement in 1983.
Mr. Sargent was bored with retirement, and worked with Golightly Tire Co. in Flagstaff from 1983 to 1985. He then moved to the Prescott area, and worked as a mail carrier in the Mayer-Cordes Lakes area until his third retirement in 1991. He came out of retirement again in 1994, and worked at Bucky's Casino until his final retirement in 1998.
He was a member of the Mingus View Presbyterian Church of Prescott Valley, and a former member of the VFW in Phoenix.
Mr. Sargent is survived by his wife, Frances ; sons, David Jr. of Johnson, Vt., Dean of Rapid City, S.D., Gregory of Mason, Ohio, and Jeffrey of Lutz, Fla.; daughter, Debra Pugh of Congress; brother, Neal Jr. of Wickenburg; sister, Barbara Hutchins of Spokane, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. today at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with the Rev. Don Watkins officiating.
Inurnment will be at Hooper Cemetery in Hyde Park, Vt.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, AZ 86312, or Mingus View Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 27408, Prescott Valley, AZ 86312.
