Richard C Beaston Jr., 72 of Apache Junction passed away March 3, 2003. Mr. Beaston a salesman at a clothing store was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Earl L. Smith, 62 of Apache Junction passed away March 8, 2003. Mr. Smith an Electrician was born in Ottawa, Illinois.

Layton Eugene Mowery, 74 of Gold Canyon, Arizona passed away March 17, 2003. Mr. Mowery, a prison corrections officer, was born in Portland, Oregon.

Frank C. Baranic
Frank C. Baranic, 81 of Apache Junction, Arizona passed away March 20, 2003. Mr. Baranic, a retired farmer and US Marine WWII veteran, was born in Tuscola County, Michigan.
Survivors include his wife Joann E. Baranic, daughters Deborah and Donna, sons Frank, Keith, Perry and Steve, 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mountain View Mortuary handled arrangements.

Rose Grunig
Rose Grunig, 90 of Apache Junction, passed away on March 16. Mrs. Grunig, a hospital nurse, was born in Beldon, Nebraska.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Jonette S. Barton, and grandson Michael Niddleton both of California. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Glen LeRoy Finkle
Glen LeRoy Finkle, 80 of Shelton, Washington, passed away on March 17. Mr. Finkle, an operating engineer for a chemical plant, was born in Beach, North Dakota.
Survivors include his daughter Glenda Omat, son David Finkle, stepson Daniel Ward, brother Howard Finkle, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Jessie Mae White
Jessie Mae White, 89, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on March 27. Mrs. White, a homemaker, was born in Burburnett, Texas.
Survivors include her daughters Georgia L. Lindee, Wanda Cordes, Margie Pena, Wilma D. Smith and Terry White, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Anthony V. Anzelmo
Anthony V. Anzelmo, 67, of Apache Junction, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2003. Mr. Anzelmo, a computer programmer, was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Leslie Anzelmo, daughters Elizabeth Leonard and Leslie Brown, sons James and Michael Dolan, brother Philip Anzelmo, and 6 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Charles Edward Bachtell I
Charles Edward Bachtell I, loving father, brother, grandpa and "Uncle Ed", 57, of Apache Junction, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2003. Mr. Bachtell, a diesel mechanic and auto shop owner, was born in Medina, Ohio. He is survived by his daughter Laura Bachtell of Apache Junction, sons Jim Bachtell of Medina, Ohio and Charles "Eddie" Bachtell II of Apache Junction, mother Beatrice "Betty" Bachtell of Medina, Ohio, sister Debbie Deaver, brothers Gary Kirkpatrick of Mesa, AZ and Kim Kirkpatrick of Mesa, AZ, and 5 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Frederick Miller Campbell
SFC, Frederick Miller Campbell, U.S. Army retired passed away May 27, 2003, in Mesa Arizona. He was 66 years of age. Mr. Campbell was a military policeman and a training instructor with 23 years of military service to our country. He was a Korean and Viet Nam War Veteran. Mr. Campbell was an Apache Junction resident for the past nine years. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean of Apache Junction, 4 children, Amanda Sword of Apache Junction, Sandra Hernandez and husband Mike of Apache Junction, Frederick and his wife Deborah of Corry, PA, and Marvin and his wife Diann of Corry, PA., 4 sisters: JoAnne Terwilliger of Titusville, PA., Martha Gee and her husband Lee of Wattsburg, PA., Shirlee Nichlos of Corry, PA., and Joyce Johnson of Erie, PA., 1 brother, Ted Campbell of Corry, PA., Also 10 Grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Friendship Community Church in Phoenix. There will also be a service on June 6 at 12:30 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Friday, located at 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Robert Schmidt
Robert Schmidt, 49, died May 27, 2003, at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was born October 22, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas to Soren Schmidt and Ona Ferguson.
Robert served in the Air Force in Vietnam. He received an associate of arts degree in fire science and a bachelor of arts degree in public administration. He attended the National Fire Academy and received the title of "Executive Fire Officer". Robert was the fire chief for the Ellensburg Fire Department.
Robert married Carol Baker in July 2002 in Livingston, Montana. He was a member of fire departments in Kansas, California, Arizona, Montana and Washington and had a term as head of the Montana State Fire Chiefs Association. His hobbies included music and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Rachel; sons, Soren and Joel; sisters, Asta and Rebecca Anderson; brothers, George Hagan and David Schmidt all of Kansas City, Kansas.
Robert was precede in death by his brother Steve Schmidt, and sister, Sandra Nichols.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ellensburg Fire Department Life Support Fund.

Emmett R. Sell, Jr.
Emmett R. Sell, Jr., 67, of Apache Junction, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Mr. Sell, a guard for a security company, was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Melody Sanders. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Lloyd Clark Bentley
Lloyd Clark Bentley passed away at the Hospice of Arizona Home on July 22, 2003 at the age of 86 years and 3 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Max, Sr. and Mary Inez Bentley, wife Helen, and brother Charles Max, Jr.
He is survived by two brothers, George Donald Bentley of Omaha and Richard Allan Bentley of Las Vegas, Nevada. Lloyd is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was born on July 19, 1917 in Omaha, Nebraska to Charles Max, Sr. and Mary Inez (Moorman) Bentley.
Lloyd was drafted into the Army in 1939. He served throughout World War II in North Africa and Italy. He was honorably discharged in 1946 holding the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, 11:00 a.m. at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn. Military honors will be presented by the Fort Riley Honor Guard, Ft. Riley, Kansas. Reichmuth Funeral Home of Elkhorn, Nebraska handled arrangements.

Junice (Judy) Striemer Behrens
Junice (Judy) Striemer Behrens was born March 24, 1923, in Walcott, North Dakota to Bruno and Ruth Porter Striemer. She grew up near St. James, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. During her lifetime she developed her interest in oil painting and was involved in helping organize the Apache Junction Art Association.
Judy married Marlo (Bud) Behrens on the Navy base in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1943. For the past ten years Judy has lived year round in Apache Junction.
She was a beloved and devoted mother to Baniata Renee Kurth (John), Terri Lynn Carlson (Kenneth), Valdon Jon Behrens (Cindy Wilson), and Kathryn Dee Fehlandt (Richard). She is survived by her brother Roger (Kay) Striemer, sister Joyce Striemer, and her children and grandchildren Paul (Krista) Kurth, Peter (Keeley) Kurth, Joseph (Andrea) Kurth, Karen Sue Kurth, Jennifer (Andrew) Carlson Zolli, Nathanael Carlson, Kristen Carlson, Hannah Carlson, Dana and Darla Fehlandt, and Jessie and Catie Wilson, and great grandchildren Christian, Niklaas, Meridian, and Carter Kurth. She will be deeply missed by all.
A memorial service was held on July 26, 2003 at King of Kings and a later committal will be held on October 4th at 10:00 a.m. in Fairmont, Minnesota. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

William T. Dee
William T. Dee, 78, of Apache Junction passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003. Mr. Dee, a stock keeper for an automotive company, was born in St. Louis, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth M. Dee, and sister-in-law Shirley Payne. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Lucille J. Piepho
Lucille J. Piepho, 80, of Apache Junction passed away Thursday, July 31, 2003. Miss Piepho, an inspector for a factory, was born in Mankato, Minnestoa. She is survived by her sister Helen M. Piepho. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Gavin Nathaniel Tapley
Gavin Nathaniel Tapley, 3 months, of Apache Junction passed away Sunday, July 27, 2003. Master Tapley was born in Chandler, Arizona. He is survived by his parents Daniel K. Tapley and Kira L. Garfias, sister Tristan, brother Kirstan, grandparents Michael Tapley, Karla Silvernail and Edward Garfias, great grandmother Shirley Tapley and several aunts and uncles. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Nellie B. Casper
Nellie B. Casper, of Apache Junction, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2003. Mrs. Casper, a telephone operator, was born in Helena, Montana. She is survived by her companion Al Johnson, granddaughter Kathy O'Hagan, grandson Bruno A. Cervelli, and great-grandchildren Courtney, Riley, Cara, and Meggie O'Hagan and Bridget Cervelli. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

William A. Hayes
William A. Hayes, otherwise known as "Grandpa", 68, of Apache Junction was born in Bloomington, Indiana, April 28, 1935 and went to be with the Lord on July 03, 2003.
He supported and loved his family while working at Motorola for 21 years. He became an ordained minister at a small Baptist church in Duschene, Utah. He was also an interim Pastor in Mesa and a former associate pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Apache Junction.
Reverend Hayes is survived by his wife of 47 years Kay Hayes, daughter Debbie Hayes, brother Al Hayes, sister Mable of Indiana, grandchildren Greg and Holly McDaniel, April Foarde and the entire Arby's crew of Apache Junction, great-grandchildren Skyler and Gabriel Foarde and several nieces and nephews from Indiana and Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his foster parents Walter and Marie Smith of Indiana, mother and father Frank and Agnes, mother and father in law Jack and Hollis Weaver of Apache Junction, son Brian Lee Hayes and great-granddaughter Savannah Lynne Foarde, brothers Clayton, Pete, Raymond, Lester, Melvin Lee, and sisters Dorothy Stapleton and Grace James of Indiana.

Henry A. Overturf
Henry A. Overturf, 80, of Apache Junction passed away Thursday, July 3, 2003. Mr. Overturf, a pipe installer for a construction company, was born in Benton, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Betty J. Overturf, stepdaughters Pamela Jo Naber and Debra Leigh Strickler, sons Henry Alfred Overturf II, Keith Jacobson and James Wiedman, stepson Larry K. Strickler, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.
