Antonio S. Gallina
Antonio S. Gallina, age 80, of Shalimar, Fla., passed away Monday, June 15, 1998, in a local hospital.
He was born on April 2, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had been a resident of the local area since 1965, moving here from Texas. He was Catholic by faith.
Mr. Gallina honorably served his country for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, later retiring as a master sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II. After retiring from the military he worked at the Eglin Air Force Base Commissary, where he made many friends. He loved sports and especially the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnie. Survivors include his son, Tony Gallina and daughter-in-law Debi of Houston; daughters, Terri Moorefield and son-in-law Mike of Johnson City, Tenn., and Cindy Moody and son-in-law Jesse of Shalimar; and grandchildren, Michelle Moody, Scott Moorefield, Rebecca "Becky" Moorefield, Marc Anthony Gallina, Matthew Gallina and Christina Gallina.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at McLaughlin Mortuary.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, June 18, at 9 a.m. in Beal Memorial Cemetery with a military chaplain officiating. Military Honor Guard members will present the flag.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross, Emerald Coast Chapter, 220 N.E. Hospital Drive, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548; or to the Salvation Army, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, in memory of Antonio S. Gallina.

Viola Faith Fuller
Viola Faith Fuller, age 40, of Valparaiso, Fla., departed this life on June 12, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital after a 21/2-year battle with cancer.
She is survived by her four children, Cody, Holly, Tanya and Cole Fuller, all of Valparaiso; mother, Hazel Cleveland; sister, Flo Wimmer, both of Valparaiso; and brothers, Virgil Cleveland of Chicago, Donald Cleveland of Bluefield, W.Va., Marvin Cleveland of Sarasota, Fla. Her father, Orbie Cleveland Sr., and a sister, Veta Stroupe, both of Bluefield, are both deceased.
Services will be conducted at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home in Niceville at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Viola Fuller Benefit Account at Vanguard Bank, Account No. 0635649, are requested by the family.

Syble W. Pinkerton
Syble W. Pinkerton, age 74, of Crestview, Fla., died Monday evening, June 15, 1998, in North Okaloosa Medical Center.
She was born in Gadsden, Ala., and had resided in this area for the past 31 years. Ms. Pinkerton as a homemaker; a graduate of Sneads College in Alabama; and held membership in the Shalimar United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of the PEO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hillary L. and Clifford Mendy Hyatt Warren; husband, Col. Curtis Pinkerton, U.S. Air Force retired; and grandson, Matthew Sloan.
Survivors include her daughter, Penny Pinkerton of Crestview; sons and daughters-in-law, Warren Widmark and Sandy Pinkerton of Springfield, Mo., and Peter Ray and Lynn Pinkerton of Cortez, Col.; sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Lyle Hollenbeck of Denver; and grandchildren, Bart, Neil, Leah, Julia, Amelia Rahab and Hannah Pinkerton.
Funeral services will be held at the Shalimar United Methodist Church on Friday, June 19, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 4 Jackson St. N.E., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548; or to the Northwest Florida Alzheimer's Association, 119 N.W. Hollywood Blvd., Suite 103, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.

Hazel M. Stevens
Hazel M. Stevens, age 82, passed away June 16, 1998, in a local hospital.
Hazel was born in Franklinville, N.C., and had been a resident since 1988. She was a member of Dorcas Baptist Church.
Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Stevens, in 1997. Survivors are her son, Searl S. Stevens Jr., and daughter-in-law Debra of Rainier, Ore.; daughter, Nancy Jo Perry and son-in-law Dave of Crestview, Fla. She leaves two sisters, Catherine Evans and Carene Cagle, both of Asheboro, N.C.; grandson, Steven Michael Perry of Arlington, Texas; granddaughters, Lisa D. Fair of Crestview, Tracie and Elizabeth Stevens of Rainier; and great-grandson, Matthew R. Fair of Crestview.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 2 p.m. in McLaughlin-Aultman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David VanZandt officiating.

James Lloyd Carroll
James Lloyd Carroll, age 72, of the Darlington community, Fla., died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, in Pensacola, Fla.
Born in Walton County, Fla., he was the son of the late James Edward Carroll. Mr. Carroll was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith.
Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his brother, Dallas Carroll; and one granddaughter, Wendy Wardell. He is survived by his mother, Hattie Carroll of Darlington; sons, James David, Lloyd Gregory and James Roger Carroll, all of Panama City, Fla., and Robbie Lee Carroll of Fountain, Fla.; daughter, Delores Ann Carroll of Panama City; brothers, Dearon T. Carroll of Phoenix City, Ala., Billy C. Carroll of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Henry Douglas Carroll of New Orleans; sisters, Myrtle Wright of Panama City, Millie C. Engeseth of Pensacola, Fla., Mallie Allen of DeFuniak Springs, and Marion Peggy Mize of New Orleans; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, in Comander Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Phil McMillian and James Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery.
Friends may all at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Michael Engeseth, Billy Carroll Jr., Jerry Mixon, Bobby Hoke, Michael Carroll, Ralph Laird, and alternate pallbearer, Keith Hoke.
Honorary pallbearers will be nurses and CNAs from the east wing of Palm Gardens Nursing Home, and nurses and CNAs of the Hospice residence in Pensacola.
Comander Funeral Home, DeFuniak Springs, is in charge of arrangements.

Darrel E. Brownlee
Darrel E. Brownlee, age 73, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 21, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Feb. 12, 1925, in Fairfax, Mo. He had been a resident of the local area for the past 31 years, after returning from a military tour in Turkey. He was Baptist by faith. He honorably served his country in the U.S.A.F. for 30 years, retiring as a master sergeant. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. During his military career, he received such distinguished awards as the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After retiring from the military, he built a very successful cabinet business, which he owned and operated. He was well known by family and friends for his generosity. He loved to work and stay busy. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, bowling, and participating on the military softball teams. He was a very loving father, grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Melvin Brownlee. Survivors include his son: Robert Bruce Brownlee, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; daughters: Debra Lynn and son-in-law, Harry N. Britts Jr., of Lynn Haven, Fla., Patricia and son-in-law, William Nascikento, of Macon, Ga., and Cynthia Kay Johnson, of Valparaiso, Fla.; brother: Loren Brownlee, of Olathe, Kansas; sister: Phyllis Reeder, of Flint, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at McLaughlin Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 1998, with visitation one hour prior to service at the McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel. A military chaplain will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla., with full military honors.
Floral tributes are acceptable, or for those who desire a memorial contribution may be made in memory of Darrel E. Brownlee to Hospice of N.E. FL. 1005 W. College Blvd., Suite B, Niceville, Fla., 32578, or to the American Cancer Society, 114 N.W. Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., 32548.

Marion H. King
Marion H. King, age 79, of Destin, Fla., died Thursday, June 18, 1998.
Mrs. King was born in New Orleans, La., on November 13, 1918. She had retired from the United States Civil Service.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, June 22, 1998, at Little Chapel Funeral Home. Inurnment services will take place at a later date in Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

Dale Scott King and Abbie Elizabeth King
Infant twins Dale Scott King and Abbie Elizabeth King entered heaven the week of June 15, 1998.
Infant son and daughter are survived by loving parents, Randall S. and Janet S. King of Mary Esther, Fla., paternal grandparents, Penny Gayle and Don Merle Chilen; and maternal grandparents, Barbara Anne and Peter Wood.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at Eglin Air Force Base Chapel 2 with Chaplain Levi. E. Braswell officiating.
Graveside interment services will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

Ernest Halbert Allen
Ernest Halbert Allen, a resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., since 1964, passed away Sunday, June 21, 1998, in a local hospital.
Mr. Allen was born in Louisville, Miss., on Aug. 8, 1921, and was Baptist by faith. He honorably served his country through the U.S. Air Force for 24 years. After retiring, he worked for various fire protection agencies, the last being Advanced Fire Protection Services, which he truly enjoyed until his retirement.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mavis Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Bert Colwell; a loving and caring grandfather and father figure to Stacy M. Baker, Kimberly E. Baker and William "B.J." Baker. Other surviving family members include three sisters, Christine Bazell, Nelda Thornburg and Ruth Miller; one brother, Chester Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time for visitation is scheduled at Emerald Coast Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services for Mr. Allen will be Wednesday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Rummage officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Weurfel officiating.
Those who wish may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 114 N.W. Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, in memory of Mr. Ernest Halbert Allen.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road N.E., Fort Walton Beach, is in charge of arrangements.

Naomi Goodwin
Naomi Goodwin, age 61, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 21, 1998, at her home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Crestview, and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
She is survived by her four children, Karen McCallum, Rachel Brewer Franklin, Kelly Brewer Simmons and Donald Brewer; sister, Inez Bearden, all of Crestview; brothers, Don Goodwin of Morris, Ill., and Glenn Goodwin of Altha, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Dorcas Cemetery.

Shirley A. Cook
Shirley A. Cook, age 62, of Baker, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 20, 1998, at her home after a short illness.
She was born in Pittsburgh and had lived in Clearwater, Fla., before moving here in March.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Motyl of Baker; children, Richard David Rock of Holt, Fla., Anna Marie Campbell of Bradenton, Fla., and William Paul Cook of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister, Jackie Brown of Texas; brother, George H. Rock of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cook requested that she be memorialized by cremation.
