Mark Gregory Giovanini
Mr. Mark Gregory Giovanini, age 25, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 1999 in a motorcycle accident. Giovanini was born Dec. 2, 1973 in Fort Walton Beach. He graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1991 where he played trumpet in the band. He served two years in the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kan. and he went to Jump School at Fort Benning, Ga. Mark was in his second year of studying law enforcement at Okaloosa-Walton Community College. He enjoyed the outdoors, serving as lifeguard during the summers, horseback riding, archery and surfing. Mark was a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church.
Mark is survived by his 2-year-old daughter, Kiera L. Giovanini of Fort Walton Beach; mother, Donna L. Giovanini of Fort Walton Beach; father and step-mother, Thomas and Edie Giovanini of Crestview, Fla.; brother, Stephen Scott Giovanini of Pompano Beach, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alson Engelhardt of New Hampshire; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Aluis Giovanini of Valparaiso, Fla.; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Giovanini of Washington, D.C.; aunt, Barbara Anderson of Atlanta, Ga.; uncle, Gary Engelhardt and family of New Hampshire; and many extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Mark will be Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Emerald Coast Funeral Home with the Rev. William H. Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery. The family will greet friends the evening of Monday, Jan. 18, 1999 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make donations to the memorial fund set up for Mark's daughters, Kiera Giovanini, at Vanguard Bank.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547 is in charge of the arrangements.

W.B. Lambert
W.B. "Dub" Lambert, age 64, of Mary Esther, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at a local hospital. He was born on April 12, 1934, in Roderfield, W. Va. He had been a resident of the local area since 1972 when he and his military family moved here from the Phillipines. He was Pentacostal by faith. He honorably served and later retired from the U.S.A.F. as a technical sergeant. He loved to fish and work in his garden. He was a loving husband and father, and loved his children and three dogs.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia, of 41 years; son, Allen, of Gainesville; daughters, Diana Lambert, of Mary Esther, Trena Larsen, of Crestview, and Deborah Preacher, of Navarre; twin brother, J.C., and brothers Ray and Paul; sisters, Garnet, Phyllis, Charlotte, Molly, Evelyn, and Maxine; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at the Central Baptist Church, 612 James Lee Rd., Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the building fund of Central Baptist Church in memory of W.B. Lambert.

Shirley A. Beach
Shirley A. Beach, age 62, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in a local hospital. She was born on March 20, 1936, in Huntington, W. Va. She had been a resident of the local area since 1986 when she moved here from West Virginia. She was a faithful and loved member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fort Walton Beach first ward. She was active and very faithful in fulfilling her various church callings. She was a beloved mother and granny. To the church primary children, she was best known as "Granny Beach." She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her three daughters: Shirley C. and son-in-law, Ronald Odell, of Charlotte, N.C., Cathleen Woodall, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Caren and son-in-law, Gary Treadway, of Fayetteville, W. Va.; grandchildren: Lewis Angle, Lee Scott Carter, Jennifer Odell, Gary Treadway, Kenneth Woodall, Billy Treadway, Casey Woodall and Michael Angle; and one great-grandchild: Zachary Angle.
The family will receive friends at the Little Chapel Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 1999. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 339 N.W. Lake Dr., Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Bishop Dennis Ewert will officiate at the service. Burial will follow services in Beal Memorial Cemetery.

Violet Treadaway
Violet Treadaway, 84, passed away at the residence of her daughter in Baker, Fla., on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, after an extended illness. She was born June 20, 1914, in Andalusia, Ala., to William E. and Mary Jane Scroggins Stacks. Mrs. Treadaway had been a resident of Baker, Fla., since 1939.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers, three sisters, and her husband of 62 years, J.P. Treadaway.
Survivors are: two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette and Durwood Locke, of Baker, Fla., and Marie and Bill Wagner, of Inyokern, Calif.; two sisters, Lois Kotlik, of Andalusia, Ala., and Ellie B. Fuller, of Pensacola, Fla.; local grandchildren, Brenda Locke Baker, Jerry Baker, Randy Locke and Debbie Locke; grandchildren in California, Joan Wagner Petrovich, Linda Wagner Thomas, Debra Wagner Zamarron, and Michael Wagner; and nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at the Shady Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Chuch Chapman and Rev. Julian Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Whitehurst Funeral Home, 436 W. James Lee Blvd., Crestview, Fla., in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Treadaway will lie in state at the church for one hour before funeral services or friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 1999.

Anita Ann Parker
Anita Ann Parker, number one loving mother, grandmother, 81, of Rockford, died on Jan. 15, 1999, at Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville, Fla. She was born June 17, 1917, in Rockford, the daughter of Michael and Madeline "Lena" (Larocco) Marini. She lived in Rockford until 1991 when she relocated to Destin, Fla. She was married to Donald Parker who predeceased her. She was a waitress at North Towne Manor, retiring after 30 years. She was a member of Beth Eden Methodist Church, Moose Club of Rockford, and an avid Bingo player.
She is survived by her children, Arlene (Jim) Kilgore, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Anita Jacobs, of Satellite Beach, Fla., Dolores (Glen) Rundberg, of Rockford,Fla., Donald (Paula) Parker Jr., of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; predeceased by her daughter, Lee Sanchez, on Sept. 23, 1998; and survived by 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mamie (Vern) Bobzin; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, grandson, Rick Kilgore, and son-in-law, Raymond A. Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Beth Eden United Methodist Church with Rev. John Lee, pastor and grandson, Gerald Weiland II, officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fitzgerald & Associates Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at church. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Arrangements by Fitzgerald & Associates Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford.

Henry Earl Cottey
Henry Earl Cottey, age 88, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local hospital Jan. 17, 1999.
He moved to Fort Walton Beach from Cincinnati in 1996. Mr. Cottey was born on Sept. 29, 1910, to the late John D. and Artie M. Cottey in Bracken County, Ky., and married Catherine Ormes in 1931. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in World War II.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine Cottey; son, William E. "Bill" Cottey and wife Carlene, all of Fort Walton Beach; grandsons, Larry A. Cottey of College Station, Texas, and David W. Cottey and wife Dina of Silsbee, Texas; great-granddaughters, Shannon and Kandace Cottey, also of Silsbee; sisters, Lorraine Colvin of Englewood, Fla., and Alberta "Sally" Cottey; and brother, Joe L. Cottey, both of Brooksville, Ky.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Little Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. with Stephen Olivier officiating. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Edward Horne Sr., Billy G. Miller, Alan W. Hutcherson, Peter Hulion, Butch Williams and Bill Larson.
The family asks that donations be made to one's favorite charity, in lieu of flowers, in memory of Henry E. Cottey.

Ruby Buckmaster York
Ruby B. York, age 84, of Destin, Fla., passed away Jan. 14, 1999, after a long illness.
Mrs. York is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur L. York, also of Destin. Mrs. York leaves one son, David A. York and his wife Marie of Niceville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey A. York of Atlanta, and Yvonne M. Cole and husband Michael of Marianna, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Adon Jared and Melissa Kathryn Cole.
Mrs. York was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Buckmaster; two sisters, Opal Lyle and Nina Bammes; brother, Roy Buckmaster; daughter, Nancy J. Spencer; and granddaughter, Stephanie L. York.
Mrs. York was born in Gregory, S.D., and enjoyed a career in nursing having studied at the University of Wyoming and the L.A. School of Nursing at Los Angeles County General Hospital. Mrs. York was a member of the Order of Eastern Star; the Royal Neighbors; and BPOE Elkettes.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society.

Marvelle W. Herrin
Marvelle W. Herrin, age 91, of Valparaiso, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Herrin was born on Dec. 6, 1907, to Henry and Mary Whatley in Houston County, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard "Bill" Herrin.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home.
Mrs. Herrin will be taken to the Miles-Odum Funeral Home, 130 Screven Ave., Waycross, GA 31501, for additional services and interment.

William G. Phillips Jr.
Maj. William G. Phillips Jr., U.S. Air Force retired, age 80, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in a local health care facility.
Mr. Phillips was born in Birmingham, Ala., on Dec. 25, 1918, to William G. and Florence Phillips Sr. He moved to this area in 1959 from Dayton, Ohio, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Walton Beach. He proudly served his country for 22 years and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross; 16 Air Medals; and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Alpha Masonic Lodge 272.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Phillips. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen C. and Deanna Phillips of Fort Walton Beach; daughters and son-in-law, Susan M. Phillips of Washington, D.C., and Maggie and Colin Smith of Boulder, Colo.; brother, Charles S. and wife Chris Phillips of Baton Rouge, La.; and grandchildren, Travis Phillips, Margaret Smith, Colin Smith III, Sarah Smith and Cameron Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McLaughlin Mortuary.
Funeral services will be conducted at Barrancas National Cemetery on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 10:15 a.m. with a U.S. Air Force chaplain officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westwood Healthcare Center, 1001 Mar Walt Drive, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547.

Gloria Jean Pappas
Gloria Jean Pappas, our beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, slipped peacefully away from us on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at 11:15 a.m.
She was lovingly surrounded by her family as she passed away at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center after a long-fought illness.
Gloria was a lifelong resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., where her professional life spanned many years of service from Honeywell to Channel 6 local TV to service in the city Planning Department where she retired in 1995.
She led an active community social life with memberships in the River Rats and Elkettes.
She will be deeply missed by her devoted and loving husband of 28 years, Don; brother, Don Eckardt and his son Daniel of San Diego; daughters, Jeanie Pappas of Louisville, Ky., Lisa Partin Young of Stuart, Fla., Laura Fredrickson of Brandon, Fla.; sons, Eric Partin of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Michael Pappas of San Francisco, and Jimmy Pappas of Fort Walton Beach. She will be especially missed by her grandchildren, Harber, Michaela and Skyler Partin, Savannah and Dallas Fredrickson, Kurtis Watson, Christian Pappas, Mary and Katie Young, and her special furry friend, "Bubba Lee." They will miss their "cool" Grandma.
Gloria will forever "keep rolling on the river, Proud Mary."
Farewell precious Gloria until we meet again.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Simon's Episcopal Church. A reception at the family home will follow.
