Madolyn M. Johnston
Madolyn M. Johnston, age 84, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2000, in a Crestview, Fla., health care facility.
She was a native of Covington County, Ala., and daughter of the late George F. and Martha Hart Milligan. She was a former resident of Walton County, Fla., and had lived in Crestview for the past several years. Her husband, Martelle Johnston, passed away in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Florala, Ala.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John F. (Bud) and Kay Johnston of Shalimar, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and William H. Byrd of Crestview; grandsons, Marty L. Byrd of Crestview and Steve Byrd of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Heather, Eric, Steven and Samantha.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Tonya Elmore officiating. Interment will be in Florala Greenwood Cemetery.
Evans Funeral Home, Florala, is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Adelaide Kidder
Margaret Adelaide Kidder, age 83, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday morning, April 8, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Kidder was born on Oct. 18, 1916, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to the late William Jackson and Gertrude Mahony Walton. She grew up in Toronto, Canada, and was a clerical worker for a dentist there. Later she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked in the British Purchasing Office.
She was a longtime resident of Fort Walton Beach, moving here in 1969. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the National Wildlife Federation.
Mrs. Kidder was preceded in death by her son, Philip B. Kidder; and two brothers, Alan and Jack Walton. She is survived by her husband, whom she married in May 1942, Paul H. Kidder of Fort Walton Beach; son, Richard P. Kidder of Fort Walton Beach; son, James H. Kidder of Niceville, Fla.; son, Michael A. Kidder of Memphis; daughter, Catherine A. Riley and husband Kevin of Titusville, Fla.; son, John M. Kidder of Fort Walton Beach; daughter, Mary L. Justman and husband Colye of Conyers, Ga.; son, Cyril W. Kidder and wife Cindy of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; daughter, Teresa M. Bullock and husband Stephen of McAllen, Fla.; son, Tom M. Kidder and wife Cindy of Pensacola, Fla.; 16 grandchildren, James Sidney Kidder, Chris P. Kidder, Colin Kidder, Amanda Riley, Mary Riley, Bridget Riley, Tian Justman, Phillip Justman, Abigail Justman, David Paul Kidder, Lisa Marie Kidder, Brian J. Bullock, Bradley K. Bullock, Blair A. Bullock, Daniel L. Kidder and Colleen M. Kidder.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April, 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Kevin Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted, or those who wish may make a donation to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, in memory of Mrs. Margaret Kidder.

Marie Jackson Clark
Marie J. Clark, age 89, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local health care facility Friday, April 7, 2000.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1910, in Mobile, Ala., and was a resident of this area since 1984, when she moved here from Mobile. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Wright Baptist Church. She was also a member of Eastern Star Eleanor Chapter 62 in Mobile.
Marie was an active member of the senior volunteer programs at Elder Services of Okaloosa County and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Friends would often refer to Marie as "Big Momma" Clark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Clark.
She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Darlene Gay Allen of Mobile; grandchildren, Quijuandra Gay of Fort Walton Beach, Win-Ton Allen of Mobile; great-grandchildren, Shaquantos, D'Quandra and Reneasha, all of Fort Walton Beach; nephews, Carl Blackledge of Sacramento, Alcea (Sadie) Braggs; nieces, Violet (Willie) Nixon and Mary Sandurs of Mobile; godchild, Morris (Alzonal) Williams of Augusta, Ga.; a host of other nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Phyllis Scott and Lucille McQueen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Ron Wilcoxson officiating. Friends may call for visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Marie will be greatly missed by a host of special friends and associates.

Myrtle Lee Sasser
Myrtle Lee Sasser, age 71, of Crestview, Fla., died Monday, April 10, 2000, at her residence in Crestview.
Mrs. Sasser was born in Castleberry, Ala., on Oct. 26, 1928, to Gus and Emma Taylor Carpenter and was a 69-year resident of the Northwest Florida area. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Sasser was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Carpenter; grandsons, Nicky and Matthew Nixon; brothers, J.V., Cecil and Woodrow Carpenter; and sisters, Icey Rodgers and Eunice Hand.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Nixon; and sister, Gladys Brown, both of Crestview; grandchildren, Sonya and Tim Faircloth, Vickie and James Faraci, and Amanda Nixon; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Cody Faraci, and Kyra and Aslee Faircloth.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at Whitehurst Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, with the Rev. Ray Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Crestview.

Charles J. Kaufman
Charles J. Kaufman, "Mr. Driftwood," age 72, of Navarre, Fla., went to be with our Lord and Savior on Feb. 3, 2000.
He expired at Gulf Breeze Hospital. Mr. Kaufman had resided at Bay Breeze Nursing Home in Gulf Breeze, Fla. He was born in Champaign, Ill., and had resided in this area after retirement from civil service after 22 years at Chanute Field in Rantoul, Ill. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and also held an honorary deaconship at East Bay Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth S. Kaufman; daughter, Mint M. Clark; son, Charles E. Kaufman; and grandsons, Brandon J. Richburg, Justin A. Clark, Charles C. Kaufman and Derek C. Betances.
He is sadly missed by family and friends, as he possessed a wonderful spirit, was a loving family man, and displayed a great sense of humor. Mr. Kaufman was a talented woodcrafter and incorporated driftwood and seashells into his works of crafts and art. Thus came his alias, Mr. Driftwood.
A private memorial will be held.

James P. Wilson
James P. Wilson, age 65, of Navarre, Fla., died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in a local hospital.
Mr. Wilson was born on Sept. 10, 1934, in Owen County, Ky. He was the son of Roy and Mildred Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Florence A. Wilson; daughters and sons-in-law, Jama and Rick Snyder of Carrollton, Ky., Kendra and Scott Bates of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; grandson, Spencer Snyder; mother-in-law, Anna Frances Grobmeier; brother, Robert A. Wilson; and sisters, Judy Raisor and Gypsy Oak.
Friends may call at the family home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, to share memories.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 5514 North Davis Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32503.

John W. Loyall
John "Woody" Loyall, age 74, passed away April 9, 2000, in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., after a short illness.
John and his wife Jeanetta were residents of Sandestin, Fla., for the past 20 years, having spent their previous 30 years of marriage in Memphis.
John was born on Jan. 26, 1926, in El Reno, Okla., the son of the late John Loyall and Lottie Atkinson. John served in World War II as a gallant member of the U.S. Marine Corps 4th Division. He fought and survived life-threatening injuries in the February 1945 invasion of Iwo Jima on Mount Suribachi.
His injuries allowed John an unusual outlook on life from the confines of a wheelchair; an awe-inspiring love of life passed on to all who came to know and love him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Jeanetta Ditto Loyall; sister, Jewel and husband Wesley Van Gundy of El Reno, Okla.; numerous nieces and nephews; grandnieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Santa Rosa Beach Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the building fund of the Santa Rosa Beach Community Church, P.O. Box 1723, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459. THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION.
The family would like to thank Doctors Bolton and Andre, the nurses and staff of the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, and the nurses and physical therapists of the Gentiva Health Services for their wonderful, loving care given to Mr. Loyall and his family.

Michael Kelly Baer
Michael Kelly Baer, age 38, of Navarre, Fla., and formerly of Cheektowaga, N.Y., died suddenly in Mobile, Ala., on April 8, 2000.
Dearest son of Stanley W. and Linda H. Soltow Baer; dear brother of Lynne (John) Rogers, Stanley Jr. (Sandra), Kathleen and Scott (Kelly Ann) Baer; fond companion of Lorie Bronk; and fond grandson of Lillian (John) Forgie. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Friends called on Tuesday at the funeral home, where funeral services were held on Wednesday.
Michael served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of 914 TAG.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, April 15, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Navarre Park.

Valene Bernice Rogers
Valene Bernice Rogers, the former Valene B. Elmore, was born on Aug. 27, 1917, in Wetumpka, Ala., to Danielle Elmore and Valene Elmore. She confessed to Christ at an early age. On Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at 3:25 a.m. she went home.
She departed this life at Destin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center (Beverly Healthcare) to be with God and leaves to mourn two daughters, Helen B. Roof and Dorothy Freeman; four sons, Joe R. Carson and wife Annie Pearl, Bobby Elmore and wife Pamela, Donald Carson and wife Shirley, and Terry Carson and wife Sandra; three loyal stepdaughters, Paulette Davis and husband Milton, Debra Bryant and Ronda Carson; 33 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Sadie Elmore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
We love her but Jesus loves her more and he has gently called her to yonder shiny shores. The Golden Gates swung open, a gentle voice said come, and with faith unspoken she calmly went home.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, with a service at 6 p.m.
Interment will take place on Saturday, April 15, in Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Ky.

Alpheus Wesley Blizzard
Col. Alpheus Wesley Blizzard died April 7, 2000, at Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia, S.C., after a short illness.
He was born on June 11, 1921, in New York City, son of Dr. Alpheus Wesley Blizzard and Ethel Lewes Blizzard. The Blizzards moved to Hartsville, S.C., in 1925. Col. Blizzard graduated from Hartsville High School in 1938. He attended college at the Citadel and the University of South Carolina and joined the Navy after the Pearl Harbor attack.
He served in the military for 31 years. He transferred from the Navy during World War II to the Army Air Corps (which later became the U.S. Air Force). He then flew B-17s and B-25s from England during World War II; was a wing commander in Strategic Air Command; and served in the Air Force Special Operations during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a test pilot for the early supersonic planes and the B-58 Hustler Program and was stationed at the Special Air Warfare Center, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
His final assignment was Chief of Staff, 5th Air Force, while stationed in Japan. Col. Blizzard was a member of Prince George Episcopal Church in Georgetown, S.C.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Bourne Blizzard of Georgetown; son, Alpheus Wesley Blizzard III of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Maj. Laura Blizzard Bloemer, U.S. Air Force retired, of Jacksonville, Fla., Maria Blizzard Legate and Stacie Elizabeth Blizzard, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; stepson, William Davis Bourne Jr.; stepdaughter, Julian Bourne Horst; sister, Mrs. Charles E. Lee of Columbia, S.C.; nephews and niece, Dr. Christopher L. Lee of Lafayette, La., Mrs. Janet Lee Burnet of Wesley Hills, N.Y., Mr. Frank E.R. Lee of Isle of Palms, S.C.; and six grandchildren.
Col. Blizzard was predeceased by his first wife, Anthonette Lempka Blizzard, in July 1987.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., Box E, New York, NY 10021.
