Cathy Ann Duffey
Cathy Ann Duffey, age 48, of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 23, 2000.
Cathy was born in Knoxville, Tenn., on Jan. 10, 1953, the daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret Stinnett Davis. Cathy was a fulltime mother and homemaker. She met and married Ronald Duffey and they shared 29 years of blissful marriage.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Ronald of the home; son, Anthony Eugene Duffey of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; daughters, Debbie Diane and husband Douglas Carter and children Andrew and Nicholas of Plant City, Fla., and Amy Michelle and husband Robbie Stinnett and children Tyler and Brett of Pigeon Forge; sisters, Debbie and husband Mike Fleischman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Sharon and husband James Bailey of Montgomery, Ala., Sandra Davis of Fort Walton Beach, and Jenny Herring of Pennsylvania; brothers, Gary and wife Debbie Vandergriff of Birmingham, Ala., Ralph Davis Jr. and William Davis, both of Fort Walton Beach; nieces, Lisa Fleischman, Carrie Fleischman, Jessica and Rhonda Lynn Davis of Fort Walton Beach, and Amber Herring of Pennsylvania; nephews, David, Daniel, Jim and Jason Bailey of Montgomery, Ala., Josh Davis of Fort Walton Beach, Jeremy Herring of Pennsylvania, Chris and Chip Vandergriff of Birmingham; grandnephew, Dallas Fleischman of Fort Walton Beach; and aunts, Pat and husband Leon Travis of Scottsboro, Ala., and Margarette Stinnett of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a host of cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Little Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Little Chapel Funeral Home, 910 Beal Pkwy., Fort Walton Beach.

Lyn Caldwell Noble
Lyn Caldwell Noble, age 70, died Monday, July 24, 2000, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after an extended illness.
A resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., from 1966 to 1975, she lived aboard the yacht "Andromeda" for the last 25 years in the Bahamas and south Florida. She was a licensed boat captain, a former first-grade teacher, and earned a private pilot's license. She was an avid shell collector with many rare specimens in her collection.
She is survived by her sons, George DeVotie Noble of Destin, Fla., and Gregory Caldwell Noble of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; grandson, Travis Caldwell Noble of Mobile, Ala; sister, Anne Caldwell Norman (Robert) of Montgomery, Ala.; nieces, Amy Lyn Toothaker, and Tamela Toothaker Black (Joel); nephew, Graham Caldwell Black of Birmingham; and many friends in the yachting community.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Edward L. Boughton
Edward L. Boughton of Niceville, Fla., died unexpectedly on July 19, 2000, while traveling in Jacksonville, Fla.
At his request, no services are planned and cremation has taken place.
Mr. Boughton was born on Sept. 4, 1921, in Keniston, N.D., and in 1939 moved to Montana. He served with the U.S. Army 41st Division, 116 Medics from September 1940 until August 1945, spending 33 months in the South Pacific.
He married Gertrude Kind of Great Falls, Mont., in 1946. She preceded him in death, as did his parents and two brothers.
He worked in road construction and heavy equipment and was owner of his own independent trucking business. His hobbies included fishing, boating and motor home travel.
In 1967 he married Violet "Babe" Ewald of Great Falls and in 1981 the couple relocated to Niceville.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Mrs. John (Judy) O'Donnell of San Jose, Calif.; son, Jerry Boughton of Anchorage, Alaska; stepdaughter, Mrs. Mike (Mary) Dietz of Great Falls; and two stepsons, Mark and wife Kathy Ewald of Enid, Okla., and Alan and wife Sheila Ewald of Conrad, Mont.; sister, Alice Mott; brother, Earl Boughton, both of Great Falls. Also saddened by his passing are 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials are appreciated to his favorite charity, Hospice, or donor's choice.

Jimmy Johnson
Jimmy "Caveman" Johnson, age 36, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Monday, July 24, 2000, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Crestview and employed by Myrick House Movers.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Betty Johnson; and grandfather, Fox Edward Johnson.
Survivors include his brothers, Ronald Johnson, Robert and wife Jimmie Johnson, all of Crestview, and Donald Ray and wife Susan Johnson of Jay, Fla.; sisters, Mary Finkel and Geraldine Travis, both of Dayton, Tenn.; niece, Patty and husband Joey Hill of Holt, Fla.; fianc�e, Deborah Denmon of Crestview; numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, from Pyron Chapel Congregational Church with the Rev. James Paul officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Paul will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.
Brackney Funeral Service, Crestview, is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Joseph Beisler
Walter Joseph Beisler, age 82, of Destin, Fla., passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 3, 2000.
Walter was born on March 16, 1918, in New York, the son of the late William and Virginia Beisler.
Walter was a retired construction plumber and a life member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 1 in New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country honorably during World War II. He held memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and Indian Oaks Homeowner's Association. Walter loved to play bingo and travel, especially to Biloxi.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Beisler of Destin; daughters, Louise Enright of Goshen, N.Y., Janet Kelly and husband Michael of Destin, and Jean Beisler of Montgomery, N.Y.; sons, Walter J. Beisler Jr. of Newburgh, N.Y., and Larry Gaskins and wife Barbara of Middletown, N.Y.; sisters, Dorothy Bress and husband Joe of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Virginia Romaniw and husband Mike of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home with Chaplain Ron L'Huillier, Hospice of the Emerald Coast, officiating. Interment will be in Beal Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. Sunday until service time.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road N.E., Fort Walton Beach, is in charge of arrangements.

Clara Ellen Leitch
Clara Ellen Leitch, age 80, of Sandestin, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 2, 2000, in a local hospital.
She was born in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 12, 1919, to George and Dorothy Santmyers, and lived in this area for the past 12 years. Mrs. Leitch was an Episcopalian by faith. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth O. Leitch Sr.; son, Kenneth O. Leitch Jr.; daughter, Dorothy R. Beckstead; sister, Nancy Cooke; and two grandchildren.
The family will have a private service next week.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut Ave., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., is entrusted with arrangements.

Richard Arnold Sneed
Richard Arnold Sneed, age 68, of Smiths Grove, Ky., died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Barren County, Ky., and was a truck driver for A&A Transfer and Storage in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Mr. Sneed was the son of Lucille Whittle Sneed of Bowling Green, Ky., and the late Harry Sneed.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fish Sneed of Smiths Grove; mother, Lucille Whittle Sneed of Bowling Green; daughters, Johnnie Warrick Collins of McKinney, Texas, Patsy Mitchell of Fairfield, Ohio, Emmie VanDoren of Freeport, Fla., and Lissa White of Fort Walton Beach; sons, Richard Dale Sneed of Smiths Grove, Terry Sneed of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Mark Sneed of Navarre, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2p.m. Saturday at Smiths Grove United Methodist Church.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Veterans Administration Medical Center, 1310 24th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37212.

Wiley Benjamin Hill Jr.
Wiley Benjamin Hill Jr., age 87, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at his home Monday, Aug. 14, 2000.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1913, in Hattiesburg, Miss., and was a resident of this area since 1946 when he moved here from Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala. He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fort Walton Beach, Second Ward. He spent his growing up years as a military brat at Fort Benning, Ga.
During his working years he was a real estate builder and developer. As a businessman he helped in the early years with the development of Valparaiso and Fort Walton Beach. He was the first president of the Board of Realtors in Fort Walton Beach and was a pioneer in the Multiple Listing Program. He constructed the first two-story building on Main Street in Fort Walton Beach.
He was active in local civic organizations, Lions Club and Toastmasters. He was also a charter member of the local Genealogical Society of Okaloosa County and a lifelong member of the Republican Party.
In 1955, Mr. Hill settled the old Gibson homestead and later developed the property over the next 40 years. Some of his early hobbies were photography, boxing - as a U.S. Army boxer he won several championships - swimming, and he was a marathon runner, winning many races in his age group. He also enjoyed flying airplanes, and in his youth he and his brother paid for his first airplane by barnstorming throughout the country charging $1 for rides. He was an avid tennis and golf player and also enjoyed writing, poetry and public speaking.
His real estate background helped in one of his many church callings by helping to locate and secure land for use as church meeting houses.
Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Opal M. Hill; sister, Beatrice Hunt; brother, Rudolph Hill; and grandson, Cody Hill. Survivors include his three children, Wiley Benjamin Hill III and wife Rebecca of Fort Walton Beach, Margaret Marie Harris and husband Ed of Fort Walton Beach, and Sarah E. Hill and husband Bob Mantovani of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and caregivers: Pauline, Priscilla and Mori.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLaughlin Mortuary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Lake Drive in Fort Walton Beach, with Bishop Gary Reynolds officiating. Mr. Hill will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Hill's grandchildren.
Floral tributes are acceptable, or those who desire may make a memorial contribution to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 101 Hart St., Niceville, Fla., in memory of Wiley Ben Hill Jr.

Charles L. Freeman Sr.
Chares L. "Gusto" Freeman Sr., age 68, of Crestview, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Crestview Nursing and Convalescent Home.
Mr. Freeman was born on Dec. 15, 1931. He was a native of Talladega, Ala., but made his home in Florida for the past 39 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Angela Freeman and their children, Wesley and Rebecca, all of Crestview; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Terry Weese and their son Drew, all of Atlanta. Other family members include: brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Emelyn Freeman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; brother, James Freeman of Talladega, Ala.; brother, Bob Freeman of Sarasota, Fla.; and sister, Florence Freeman Sanders of Torrence, Calif.
A time of visitation will be conducted at Whitehurst Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
A brief funeral service will be conducted at the end of the visitation period at 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Whitehurst Funeral Home.
Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Miller, Clardy Noel, George Ansley, Curtis Lackey, Red Brown, Bunky Nabors, Lonnie Watts and George Hicks.
Arrangements and services under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Home, Crestview.

James Armond Plate
James Armond Plate of Niceville, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000.
He was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 5, 1933.
He is survived by his mother, Florence Plate of Paxton, Fla.; two brothers, Robert of Paxton, and Bill of Earlham, Iowa; three sons, Brian of Altoona, Iowa, Richard of Freeport, and James of Villa Tasso, Fla.; two daughters, Deborah Fruge of Niceville, and Kristine Yand of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; and all the loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Niceville at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Paul's in memory of Mr. Plate.
