ROGERSVILLE - Services for Paul S. Arnold Jr., 58, 1290 War Valley Road, who died Jan. 4, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Longs Bend Cemetery.

Roy Travis Beckner, 18, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - Roy Travis (T-Bone) Beckner, 18, 110 Pridemore Street, Apt. 124, went to be with the Lord Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at his residence.
Born in Kingsport, he resided in Church Hill most of his life. He had attended Volunteer High School and was employed by Mountaineer Restaurant.
Travis was of the Pentecostal faith, and was a loving and caring person.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Don Johnson; paternal grandfather, Roy Beckner; stepsister, Melinda Strong; two uncles, Eddie Johnson and Rocky Johnson.
Surviving are his mother, Donna Kay Johnson, Church Hill; father, Larry Daniel Beckner Sr. and stepmother, Phyllis Beckner, Kingsport; sister, April Michelle Brooks, Kingsport; stepsister, Ashley Strong, Kingsport; brother, Larry Allen Beckner, Kingsport; half brother, Larry Daniel Beckner Jr., Kingsport; stepbrother, Eddie Lee Strong, Kingsport; maternal grandmother, Edith Locklear, Georgia; paternal grandmother, Reba Beckner, Kingsport; very special niece and nephew, Terra Michelle Brooks and Michael Aaron Brooks; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a very special friend, Travis Tate.
Arrangements will be announced later by Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Charles Clendenen, 57, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Charles David Clendenen, 57, passed away Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born on August 3, 1944 in Miami, Fla., he graduated from Melbourne High School and attended Belmont College in Nashville. He served four years in the U.S. Army with the Military Police and was in the Reserves in Kingsport.
For over 20 years, he worked with his family at Smith Mechanical Contractors Inc. and was a master plumber. He served as a TAPHCC president twice and a national officer for years.
Mr. Clendenen was a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner, and Jester. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Arbeutia Clendenen; daughter, Sorcha Clendenen and fiancé, Danny Lee Bush; son, Shyloc Clendenen and fiancée, Elisha Ramsey; brother, Micheal Clendenen; granddaughter, Charlezleigh Bush; grandson, Damion Clendenen; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel by the Kingsport Masonic Lodge No. 688 F.&A.M. with a memorial service to follow.

Doris Ann Disney, 54, Laurel, Md.
LAUREL, Md. - Services for Doris Ann Disney, 54, of Laurel, Md., and formerly of Rogersville, who passed away Monday (Dec. 31, 2001), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Calling hours are from 12 noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Carters Valley Cemetery.

Edward Frazier, 74, Mount Carmel.
MOUNT CARMEL - Edward Kenneth "Ken" Frazier, 74, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 6, 2002) at his residence in Mount Carmel.
Born in Wise County, Va., he was employed at AFG Blue Ridge Glass Plant and had worked at Warren Funeral Home in Weber City, Va., and part-time for Carter-Trent Funeral Homes, until ill health forced his retirement.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William K. Frazier and Etta Arnold Frazier; brother, J.W. Frazier; sister-in-law, Irene Hart Frazier.
Survivors include his wife and caregiver for the past 25 years, Jean Barton Frazier, of the home; one foster daughter and son-in-law, Lori Dockery and husband Ricky, Church Hill; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean Hartgrove and husband Hagan, Gate City, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis Frazier and wife Florence, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; one brother-in-law, Ken Price, Surgoinsville; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va., with Chaplain Joe. W. Byrd of the American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 in charge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Price, Tim Hartgrove, Allen Frazier, Gary McMurray, Randy McDavid, Ricky Dockery and Rick McClain.
Family and friends who will be attending the graveside service should meet at the cemetery by 2:25 p.m. Tuesday.

Albert Gillenwater, 90, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Services for Albert Lee Gillenwater, 90, who died Thursday (Jan. 3, 2002), will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Byrd and the Rev. Fred Fletcher officiating.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family and friends are to meet at the gravesite.

Clinton Howington, 73, Bristol, Tenn.
BRISTOL, Tenn. - Graveside services for Clinton Howington, 73, who entered into rest Thursday (Jan. 3, 2002), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Harris Family Cemetery, Route 619, Alley Valley community of Scott County, Va., with the Rev. Luke Martin officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.

Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Clyde Mercer, 74, Russell County, Va.
RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. - Mr. Clyde Shanter Mercer, 74, of the Belfast section of Russell County, Va., passed away Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at his home.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va.

Nora Pack, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Nora Pack passed away Sunday (Jan. 6, 2002).

Charles Silliman, 76, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Charles Jerold Silliman, 76, of 508 Woodmere Drive, died Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) in Kingsport.
He was self-employed as a mason and contractor and was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Kingsport.
He attended The Citadel, Charleston, S.C.
He was a veteran of World War II and earned several decorations and citations, including the American Theater Ribbon, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
His hobbies included woodworking and making beautiful furniture.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine Silliman of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, John and Robert Silliman, both of Louisville, Ky.
Surviving are his wife, Grayce Carlene Ashley Silliman, Kingsport; son, Kenneth Craig Hyder, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters and son-in-law, Lessa Cantey and husband Chris, Kingsport, Jonie Garrick, and a very special Kimmie Hammitt, Kingsport; five "special grandchildren," Ben and Amy Hyder, Dylan Cantey, Aryn Lawless, and a very special grandson, Luke Robinson; sisters, Jean Bodenbender and husband Bud, Louisville, Ky., Marilyn Badgett and husband Louis, North Vernon, Ind., Marie Carrico and husband Thomas, North Vernon, Ind., and Patricia Deddens and husband Eugene, Louisville, Ky.; brother, Paul Silliman and wife Anna, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Father Charles Burton officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City.
Donations may be made to St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 2517 N. John B. Dennis Highway, Kingsport, Tenn. 37662.

Mrs. Grace Simpson, 66, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Mrs. Grace Eutella Simpson, 66, 244 Carver Street, Apt. 63, departed this life Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at her residence.
Mrs. Simpson was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. She was president of the Riverview Residents Association and K.I.T.E., Board of Commissioner of KHRA, and past member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Clifford and Mrs. Bessie (Charles) Smith; and her husband, Mr. Joe Simpson.
Survivors include one son, Mr. George Smith, Kingsport; one sister, Ms. Phyllis Graves, Kingsport; two aunts, Mrs. Geraldine Smith, Kingsport, and Mrs. Itha Flack, Compton, Calif.; two granddaughters, Ms. Catina Smith and Ms. Wendy Smith, both of Kingsport; one nephew, Mr. Anthony Graves (Melissa "Missy"), Kingsport; one niece, Mrs. Roslyn Sissy" (Aaron) Hutcherson, Kingsport; one special daughter, Becky Shoemaker, Kingsport; three great-grandsons; four special grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The family is receiving friends at the residence of Mrs. Simpson.

Burial will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, with military rites conducted by American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 of Kingsport.

Elmer (Rusty) Taylor, 70, Cambridge, Md.
CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Elmer (Rusty) Taylor, 70, formerly of Ewing, Va., passed away January 3, 2002.
He was a retired mail carrier for the postal service in Oklahoma. He was a retired master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Korean War.
He was a member of the Chadwell Station Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhea and Dona Taylor; and one brother, Paul Taylor.
Surviving are three brothers, Charles R. Taylor, Franklin, Ohio, Donald W. Taylor, Rockford, Ill., and John R. Taylor, Ewing, Va.; five sisters, Florence Bakos, Mechanicsburg, Pa., Skeet Bledsoe, Jonesville, Va., Evelyn Taylor, Ewing, Va., Sandra McBride, Sterling, Va., and Lena F. Brown, Cambridge, Md.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home, Rose Hill, Va.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chadwell Station Baptist Church in Ewing, Va., with the Rev. Jim Blevins and the Rev. Arden Taylor officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted in the Yeary Cemetery, Ewing, Va., by the Honor Guard of VFW Post No. 3382 of Kingsport.

DUFFIELD, Va. - Annie Mae Williams, 75, of Route 2, departed this life late Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at the Hospice House in Bristol.
