PEKIN - Alice Leona Long, 71, 13834 Thompson Rd. died at 1:22 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2001 at Pekin Hospital.
Born September 30, 1929 in Washington, Iowa, she was a daughter of William and Elsie Campbell Giacomo. She married Arthur M. Scherle in August 1946 in Pinckneyville, Illinois. She then married Howard Erps in 1956 in Pekin. She later married Adolph "Al" Long on August 23, 1980 in Pekin.
Surviving are her husband, her mother, Elsie Giacomo of Pinckneyville; 4 daughters, Melba (Jimmy) Flowers of Arab, Alabama, Diana (Larry) Woodside of Pinckneyville, Cindy (Jerry) Flick of Pekin and Brenda (Jerry) McFarden of Creve Coeur; 2 sons, Richard (Tammy) Erps of Pekin and Rodney (Donna) Erps of Sparta, IL; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Carl (Barbara) Giacomo and 1 sister, Shirley (Frank) Martin, both of Pinckneyville.
She was preceded in death by her father; 2 brothers, Paul and Roger Giacomo; 2 sisters, Dora and Betty Lou Giacomo; 1 granddaughter, Anissa Bigham; and 2 nieces.
Mrs. Long had worked as a cook and waitress at many Pekin restaurants. She was a member of St. Paul - s United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville and enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Dwight E. Borden will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

ANNA KATHRYN DOXSTADER
(1908-2001)
PEKIN - Anna Kathryn Doxstader, 92, of 2220 State Street, Pekin died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center. She was formerly of 1403 Howard Court in Pekin.
Born September 1, 1908 in Bethel, Missouri to William and Gertrude Schnaufer Nolte, she married Earl Rambusch in 1930. He preceded her in death. She later married Frank C. Doxstader on December 2, 1935 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died September 18, 1973 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by one daughter (Glenna Mae Cecil on July 13, 1976), one son (Earl Rambusch on August 6, 1999 in Hopedale), one sister, and three brothers.
Surviving are six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Doxstader was a member of the Pekin Bible Church and the Mary-Martha Circle of the church. She also had been a Sunday school teacher and was the head of the nursery for many years at the church.
She was a former member of the Royal Neighbors, Kings Daughter - s, Golden Age Club of Pekin, and the Jolly 60 - s.
Graveside services will be at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Richard W. Jones and Rev. Robert D. Goranson will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missionary Fund at Pekin Bible Church.

ALFRED SNYDER
(1939-2001)
GREEN VALLEY - Alfred Irvin "Al" Snyder, 61, of 210 North Church Street, Green Valley, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2001 at his residence.
Born September 18, 1939 in Peoria to Carl and Alma Fisher Snyder, he married Melinda May Dunnam on September 18, 1982 in Green Valley. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Alma Bunn of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; one son, James A. Snyder of Chicago; two daughters, Stephanie L. Santilli of Henderson, Nevada and Angela D. Cerny of Oswego, one sister, Darlene Baechler of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; one brother, Carl Snyder of Camdenton, Missouri; and two nieces.
His father preceded him in death.
He served in the United States Marine Corps. from January 8, 1958 to January 6, 1961.
Mr. Snyder worked as a building mechanic for 12 years at Illinois State University in Normal, retiring in December of 1997. He previously worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria as an electrician, had owned and operated Snyder Electric in Chillicothe, and was a service technician for the Northern Illinois Kroger Stores.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Green Valley, the National Rifle Association, and Pheasants Forever.
He was an avid fisherman and pheasant hunter with two special dogs, Molly and Charlie.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church in Green Valley. The Rev. Craig T.M. Lee will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN - Maudie E. Jacobs, 81, of 2220 State Street in Pekin, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center. She was formerly a resident of Delavan and 411 Illinois Street in Pekin.
Born February 24, 1920 in Petersburg to Joe and Ruth Wiseman Nelson, she married Clarence W. Jacobs on May 31, 1941 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Clarence P. (Beverly) Jacobs of Peoria and Edward L. (Sandee) Jacobs of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Michael D. (Sally) Jacobs of Kewanee, Pamela S. (Mike) Korthels of East Moline, Cori C. (Chris) Rouse of Carlinville and William Singleton of Utah; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Thompson of Pekin and Georgia Hawkins of Mackinaw; three brothers, Joe (Mary) Nelson, Jr. of Delavan, Robert (Frances) Nelson of Hopedale and David (Francesca) Nelson of Lathrop, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one grandson.
She was a homemaker.
An avid reader, she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She also enjoyed babysitting.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Frank J. Valente will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

BUBIE C. GOODMAN, JR.
(1930-2001)
PEKIN - Bubie C. "J.R." Goodman, Jr., 71, of 1403 Market Street in Pekin, died at 6:28 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born March 22, 1930 in Pekin to Bubie C., Sr. and I. Gertrude Cunningham Goodman, he married Esther Arlene Jones on May 6, 1950 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Darrell D. (Linda) Goodman and Kevin L. (Kay) Goodman; four grandchildren, Brian C. Goodman, Kimberly L. Goodman, Bethany C. Goodman and Kyle S. Goodman, all of Pekin and one brother, David L. (Grace) Goodman of Artesia, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Cheryl L. Goodman and one infant brother, Roy Goodman.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was employed for 8 years at Corn Products Company in Pekin in the Accounting area. He then worked 21 years for Caterpillar, Inc. as an accounting manager. He served as the vice-president and treasurer of Excel Foundry and Machine in Pekin from 1975 to 1989. He was the founder and current president of WBNH Radio 88.5 FM in Pekin.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pekin, where he was a teacher of an adult Sunday school class for many years. He also served the church as a former deacon, treasurer, choir director and choir member. He presently was serving the church as the financial secretary. He also had served on numerous committees and boards of the church.
He enjoyed traveling.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Robert E. MacKay will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

JIMMIE R. ATWOOD
(1943-2001)
PEKIN - Jimmie R. Atwood, 58 of 1107 South 14th Street in Pekin, died at 6:04 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 at his residence.
Born May 3, 1943 in Peoria to Kirby and Peggy P. Plaeger Atwood, he married Mary C. Lane on May 27, 1974 in Logan County. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Rick Davis of Minonk, Tom (Sheryl) Miller of Bloomington, William Miller of Pekin, Larry Miller of Massachusetts and Derek Atwood of Sheridan; five daughters, Donna Miller, Janelle (Chuck) Slagel, Lea Atwood, Jamie Wire, all of Pekin and Dorinda (Ferd) Gardner of San Jose; seventeen grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Jo) Atwood of Texas and Scott Brewer of Minonk and three sisters, Marsha (Bud) Tribbet of Texas, Syde Buell of Chillicothe and Jill (Tim) Sunderland of Bartonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kay Brewer.
He last worked as a detoxification counselor for the White Oaks Companies in Peoria for 15 years in the Whittman unit. He previously worked 13 years for Caterpillar, Inc. until 1975.
He was a longtime member of the Pekin Police Auxiliary and also volunteered as an EMT and firefighter for the Forman Fire Protection District in Manito.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Tom Murphy will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following services.

P. KALENE EAGAN
(1951-2001)
PEKIN - P. Kalene Eagan, 49, of 104 Sycamore Street in Pekin, died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at her residence.
Born September 24, 1951 in Carbondale to Otis O. and Floy M. Cletcher Bullock, she married Daniel W. Eagan on January 22, 1972 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother of Pekin; two brothers, Otis Ray Bullock of Peoria and Aron Lee (Toni) Bullock of Portland, Oregon; one sister, Lillie M. (Willie) Swope of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one nephew, Ron Eden of Pekin, whom she helped raise. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
She was employed by Air Land Transport in Morton for the past 8 years.
She also made and sold teddy bears.
She loved her dogs and enjoyed crafts.
She was a member of the Laramie Street Baptist Church in Peoria.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Bill Williams will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lexington, Illinois.

ELAINE M. MCGILLIVRY
(1921-2001)
PEKIN - Elaine Maud McGillivry, 80, of 444 South Parkway Drive, Apartment 701, Pekin, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at her residence.
Born April 21, 1921 in Peoria to Carl Jacob and Maud Elizabeth Stauffacher Olin, she married Stacy McGillivry on February 12, 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He died August 7, 1985 in Pekin. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Michael C. (Lori) McGillivry of Manito; two grandsons, Michael S. McGillivry and Eric J. McGillivry, both of Manito; and two sisters, Audrey J. (Gordon) Hulett of Apache Junction, Arizona and Betsy P. Maki of Eveleth, Minnesota.
She served in the Women - s Army Auxiliary Corps from December 2, 1942 to August 29, 1943.
Mrs. McGillivry was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in West Duluth, Minnesota and the Harmony Chapter #8 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was also a member and past secretary of the Pekin Women - s Bowling Association.
She attended the Congregational United Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2001 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

SHIRLEY J. STEAKLEY
(1928-2001)
PEKIN - Shirley Jean Steakley, 73, of 1509 Hilltop Drive in Pekin, died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at her residence.
Born February 9, 1928 in Mason City to George H. and Amy Matilda Goodin Baumgardner, she married James E. Steakley on November 30, 1946 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William B. "Bill" (Fe) Steakley of Los Angeles, California and Bradley J. Steakley (friend Chloe) of Chicago; one granddaughter, Kristine R. Steakley of Sterling, Virginia; one brother, Dr. Carl (Mary) Baumgardner of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and two sisters, Martha J. Butler of Peoria and Betty J. "Nip" Baumgardner of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna M. Atherton-Bailey, Marie Andrews, Hazel Helen Baumgardner and Wilma M. DeWeese and two brothers, Raymond Dallas Baumgardner and George Edward "Pat" Baumgardner.
She was a 1945 graduate of San Jose High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Steakley resided most of their life in Pekin, where they worked together remodeling, and reselling homes. She also was a successful realtor. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She delighted people with her sense of humor, her love of life and her charming wit.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Robert N. Brite, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose.

PEKIN - Vivian Louise Duez, 80, of 401 Malley St., Northglenn, Colorado died at 2:10 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2001 at Castle Gardens Nursing Home in Northglenn. She was formerly of 630 W. Shore Dr. in Pekin.
Born March 26, 1921 in San Jose, she was a daughter of Charles Isaac and Margaret Hartwig Connett. She married Albert Duez on March 26, 1941 in Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 22, 1995 in Pekin and 1 brother, Clifford Connett.
Surviving are 2 sons, Ronald (Shirley) Duez of Westminster, Colorado and Albert (Lorraine) Duez of Simi Valley, California; 6 granddaughters, Billie Jo (Galen) Theye of Westminster, Christina (Mike) Feldstein of Simi Valley, Shirley (Dan) Inow of Washington, IL, Teresa Duez of Pekin, and Autumn and Summer, both of Simi Valley; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Ernest (Marge) Connett of Glasford and George (Mary) Connett of East Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

RANDALL J. TRENHOLM
(1954-2001)
CREVE COEUR - Randall John Trenholm, 46, of 86 Butler Street, Nelson, died Sunday, May 6, 2001 at his residence. He was formerly of Creve Coeur.
Born September 27, 1954 in Peoria to John Willard and Jenny Daley Trenholm, he married Amy Lee Grove on June 20, 1980 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife of Creve Coeur; one son, Nicholas (Amy) Trenholm of Dixon; one step-son, Terry Dickson of North Pekin; one grandson, Evan Trenholm of Dixon; two sisters Christy (Frank) Schmall of Dixon and Lisa Clifton of South Pekin; and two brothers, Donnie Trenholm of South Pekin and Jimmie Trenholm of Pekin.
His parents preceded him in death.
He had served in the United States Army.
Mr. Trenholm worked as a shipping clerk at Crest Foods in Rochelle for many years, last working in January of 2000.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Eugene A. Talbot will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded.

BARBARA J. WRHEL
(1933-2001)
PEKIN - Barbara J. Wrhel, 67, of 101 N. 18th St., died at 10:32 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2001 at her home.
Born October 9, 1933 in Emden, Illinois, she was a daughter of William C. and Helen C. Carnahan Janssen. She married Frank D. Wrhel on October 19, 1963 in Pekin. He died August 7, 2000.
Surviving are her mother, Helen C. Janssen of Pekin; 1 daughter, Jane (Kip) Patterson of Manito; 1 son, John D. Wrhel of Indianapolis; 3 grandchildren, Kylie Patterson and Ryan Patterson, both of Manito, and Shelby Wrhel of Fairport Harbor, Ohio; and 2 brothers, William S. (Judy) Janssen of Manito and Phillip E. (Joyce) Janssen of Pekin.
Mrs. Wrhel worked for Pekin Insurance Company for over 43 years, retiring as insurance underwriter on July 8, 1997. She began with Pekin Insurance as a summer employee at the age of 16. She accepted full time employment in the underwriting department after her high school graduation in 1951. In 1973, Barb advanced to the position of assistant fire underwriter and in 1979, she was promoted to senior homeowner underwriter. Eight years later, she was named Senior Personal Lines Underwriter. She was a member of the Pekin Insurance Twenty-five Year Club.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin and loved gardening.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Cremation will follow visitation.

HERSCHEL N. WHITE
(1915-2001)
CREVE COEUR - Herschel Norman White, 85, of 126 Margaret Dr. died at 11:29 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2001 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born November 25, 1915 in Dry Creek, Missouri, he was a son of Herschel and Lula Dollins White. He married Myrtle T. Lemon Rice on April 28, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife on October 30, 1993 in Peoria, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.
Surviving are 1 step-son, Robert E. (Myrtle) Rice of Creve Coeur; 1 step-daughter, Johnnie L. Hall of Bartonville; 2 step-grandchildren, Barbara (Carlos) Patton of Bartonvillle and Michael Chatfield of California; 1 niece and 1 nephew.
Mr. White was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 37 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1978. He served with the 88th Infantry Division in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received the Bronze Star and 3 battle stars.
He was a member of the Frank N. Nicol Lodge #1170 A.F.&A.M. in Creve Coeur for over 50 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 1002 in East Peoria, a life member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria, and a member of V.F.W. Post 4835 in Creve Coeur. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. John H. Stanley will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

MARILYN FIELDS
(1936-2001)
CREVE COEUR - Marilyn Fields, 64, of 337 Zessin St., died at 7:40 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at her home.
Born May 7, 1936 in Bloomington, she was a daughter of Paul Joseph and Zelma Daroline Riley Abraham. She married Clifford L. Fields on February 22, 1974 in Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Paul Gregory Scott, and 1 daughter, Mary Beth Scott.
Surviving are her husband; 3 daughters, Marilyn (Dan) Oesch of Pekin, Angelia (Brooke) Camden of East Peoria, and Lillian Alberta Fields of Creve Coeur; 2 grandsons, Steven Erickson, Jr. and Brooke Canden, Jr., both of East Peoria; and 1 sister, Daroline Masters-Shaw of Holland, Ohio.
Mrs. Fields was employed as a materials specialist at Caterpillar, Inc. - s Morton Parts Department for over 30 years, last working Tuesday, May 1, 2001. She previously had worked for Foster-Gallagher, Inc. for 15 years.
She was a member of UAW Local 974, the Peoria Salvation Army, and attended First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. Edward Mitchell will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 2675 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61554.
