Elizabeth Rose Muire
Elizabeth Rose Muire, of Powhatan, died on Thursday, July 22, 2004.
Survived by her husband, Linwood B. Muire, Jr.; and son, Linwood B. Muire III and his wife, Kimiyo.
A memorial service was held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Normans Funeral Home, Goochland.
Donations may be made payable to: Second Chance Animal Shelter, Rt. 522, Powhatan, Va. 23139.

Donald Devereaux Richardson
Donald Devereaux Richardson, 56, of Powhatan, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2004.
Memorial services were held on Monday, August 2, at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Penny; his children, Beth, Jamey, Stephen and Katie; his daughter-in-law, Jessica; his grandchildren, Wyatt and Weston; his brothers and their wives, David and Rebecca, and Stephen and Carol; his stepmother, Sue J. Richardson; his sisters and their husbands, Susan and Jerry Reid, Cathy and Mark McCurry, and Ellen and Jay Cowan; his sister, Martha Savage; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Richardson was a retired Richmond city firefighter, owned and operated a logging business. He was a little league coach, a lifelong sportsman, and a patriot.
Donations may be made in the name of: Weston Richardson to be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Central Virginia Chapter, 3805 Cutshaw Ave., Suite 212, Richmond, Va. 23230, in memory of Donald Richardson for a "Walk For A Cure".

Ester C. Stewart
Ester C. Stewart, 82, of Powhatan, formerly of Crewe and Henrico, died on Monday, July 26, 2004.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan, Interment Little Flock Baptist Church Cemetery, Amelia.
He is survived by his wife, Ila M. Stewart; one daughter, Janie S. Sale of Chesterfield; one son, Randy L. Stewart of Powhatan; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by one daughter, Esther Mae Stewart.
He served in the Army, Company "C" 252nd Engineer Combat Battalion during WWII as a Sergeant Tech. and was a retired machinist for I.R. International in Richmond.

Johnny McKinley Trail, Sr.
Johnny McKinley Trail Sr., 60, of Bumpass, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2004 in Fork Baptist Church with interment in Spring Grove Memorial Park, Mineral.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Trail; three children, Dana Netherland and her husband, James, of Powhatan, Johnny Trail Jr. of Bumpass, and Stacy Boatwright and her husband, John, of Goochland; five grandchildren, Adam, Katelyn, Treasure, Kinley, and Colman; two sisters and a brother of Martinsville.
Donations may be made to Fork Baptist Church, Bumpass.
Mr. Trail was an independent truck driver for 40 years.

Mary Alice Matthews Lankford
Mary Alice Matthews Lankford, 82, of Franklin, died Sunday, December 5, 2004, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk.
A memorial service was conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 8 at Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress officiating. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at their residence.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy L. Hargroves and husband, Herbert, of Manakin-Sabot, Va., Linda M. Lankford of Suffolk, and Elaine L. Fekete and husband, Mark, of Virginia Beach; two sons, H. Andrew Lankford III of Virginia Beach and Bradley M. Lankford and wife, Jane, of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Megan Hargroves, Herbert Hargroves Jr., Alicyn Hargroves, Andrew Hargroves, Katelyn Lankford, J.R. Withers, Tara Withers, Bradley M. Lankford Jr., and John Mark “Jack” Fekete; a sister-in-law, Audrey J. Lankford; and two brothers-in-law, Horace Burnley “Pete” Lankford and

Wesley F. Wills.
Mrs. Lankford was predeceased by a brother, Joseph McKay Matthews Jr.
Mrs. Lankford along with her late husband, Harvey Andrew Lankford Jr., was co-owner of Dixie Plant Farms.
Born in Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Lankford was a daughter of the late Joseph McKay and Alice Wainwright Matthews. Mrs. Lankford, a graduate of Oklahoma State University, served her internship at New York Hospital as a hospital dietitian. She then moved to Franklin where she was dietitian at Raiford Memorial Hospital. Throughout her life, Mrs. Lankford was involved in church and civic activities in the community. She was an active member of Franklin Baptist Church and the Board of Deacons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Brain Tumor Center at Duke, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, N.C. 27710; or Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N. High St., Franklin, Va. 23851. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Ethel Mae Randall Messersmith
Ethel Mae Randall Messersmith, 91, formerly of Grottoes, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at Lakewood Manor in Richmond, where she has resided for the past seven years.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2004, at the Grottoes United Methodist Church, of which she was a lifetime member. The family received friends in the church's fellowship hall Thursday from 11 a.m to 1 p.m.
Mrs. Messersmith was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Messersmith.
She is survived by a son, Joseph J. “Jim” Messersmith Jr. and his wife, Pat of Rockville; a daughter, Joyce Atkinson and her husband, Donald of Ashland; four grandchildren, Carol M. Malla and her husband, Bill, Laura M. Maxwell and her husband, Dave, both of Glen Allen, Lyle Atkinson and his wife, Wendy Boggs of Mechanicsville, and Christopher Atkinson of Richmond; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grottoes United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 45, Grottoes, Va. 24441 or to the Grottoes Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1187, Grottoes, Va. 24441.

Fred Brashear Walker
Fred Brashear Walker, 77, of Richmond and White Stone, died December 5, 2004.
The family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, at Epiphany Lutheran Church followed by burial in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Pennell Walker Jr. and Norma Loth Walker; and a brother, Robert Pennell Walker III.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Fleming Walker; children, Robert and wife, Debbie, of Deltaville, Va., Evelyn Brown and husband, Bob, of Richmond, Fred Jr. and wife, Donnie, of Richmond, and Susan Nash and husband, Lewis, of Manakin-Sabot; grandchildren, Katie Brennan, Anne Brennan, Fred Walker III, Molly Nash, Reid Nash, Robby Walker, Benjamin Walker, John Nash and Rebecca Walker; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Grace Brennan; and one brother, Phillip Loth Walker of Sanford, N.C.

Jimmie Meace Shelton
Jimmie Meace Shelton, 92, of Gum Spring, died Monday, December 6, 2004.
The family received friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment followed in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Elliott Shelton, one son-in-law, Howard I. Smith; one brother, Hobson Shelton; and three sisters, Mamie Yeatts, Edith MacIntosh, and Faye Shelton.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet S. Smith of Glen Allen, two sons, Jerry M. Smith and his wife, Susie, of Gum Spring and C. David Shelton and his wife, Kay, of Mechanicsville; 11 grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Shelton and his wife, Mildred, of Newport News; and a loving friend, Gertrude Michael.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Perkins Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.

Ella L. Parrish
Ella Ruth Luck Parrish died Thursday, October 6, 2005.
Funeral services, conducted by the Revs. Ed Rodriguez and Howard Baldwin, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 at Ragland Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Louis Doc Parrish Jr.; her children, Gwendolyn Arthur and her husband, Hank, Michael Lee and his wife Susan Haupt, Beth Mae Bradshaw and her husband, Sammy; seven grandchildren, Alanna and David Arthur, Clay, Evan and Julia Parrish, Kerstin and Tennis Bradshaw; one sister, Nell West and her husband, Howard; and one brother Berkley Luck and his wife, Alice.
Mrs. Parrish was preceeded in death by several brothers and sisters and her son, David Louis Parrish III.
She graduated from Beaverdam High School as salutatorian of the class of 1951 where she played basketball, softball and was a cheerleader for the football team. She was chosen Miss Goochland in 1953.
Mrs. Parrish was an employee of the former Atlantic Life Insurance Comapny of Richmond, playing first base on the softball team, which won several city championships. She retired as a beautician operating out of her home in Goochland for many years.

Winifred P. Waldrop
Winifred Dale Preddy Waldrop, 67, of Goochland, died on Monday, October 3, 2005.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 21 at Dover Baptist Church, 635 Manakin Road, Manakin-Sabot.

Marvin W. Webster
Marvin Winfrey “Corky” Webster, 76, of Manakin-Sabot, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 13 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. Interment immediately followed the funeral service in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Snow Wash Webster; three sons, Marvin Winfrey Webster Jr. and his wife Lynn, of Glen Allen, William W. Webster and his wife, Lynn of Smithfield and Gregory S. Webster and his wife, Katherine of Smithtown, New York; nine grandchildren, Doug, Katie and Pamela of Glen Allen, Michael, Matthew, Ben and Lauren and Kristin of Smithfield, Juliann of Smithtown, New York; one brother, Harold F. Webster and his wife, Virginia, of Manakin-Sabot; two sisters, Marion W. Lyman of Jacksonville, Florida and Adelaide W. Stanley and her husband, Bob, of Richmond; and one sister-in-law, Gertrude Webster of Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Mr. Webster was preceeded in death by his parents, Daniel P. and Grace Mitchell Webster; and two brothers, Daniel P. Webster Jr. and Leslie C. Webster.

Pearl Agnes Ragland
Pearl Agnes Ragland, 79, of Goochland died Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Henrico Doctors Parham Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 14 at the Sheridan Funeral Home Chapel, Kents Store. The service was officiated by Rev. Paul Rice, Jr. Interment was followed in the Mizpah Christian Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her seven sons, Nelson, Charles, Harvey, Lewis, Robert, David and Tony Ragland; two daughters, Virginia Rice and Lois Underwood; twenty grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Ragland.
Mrs. Ragland was a housewife and attended the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Columbia.

H. Pierce Anderson III
H. Pierce Anderson III, 49, died Monday, January 16, 2006.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 20, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debra Butler Anderson; two daughters, Cara Mignonne and Christina Grace Anderson; his mother-in-law, Marion Butler; his brothers-in-law, Timothy Butler, Thomas Butler, Ronald Maupin and Randall Ward; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Ward and Katherine Butler; an aunt and uncle, Sue and N. Calhoun Anderson; his cousins, Smith Anderson, N.C. Anderson II and Ronald Anderson; and six nieces and nephews.
Mr. Anderson was the son of the late Mignonne and Harry P. Anderson Jr.
He was the coach of the Goochland County U12 girl’s soccer team and the owner of Virginia General, LLC. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, former member of the 9th Virginia Cavalry Civil War reenacting unit, and was involved in ATV racing on the GNC National Circuit.
