Juan M. Ceja
Juan M. Ceja, an employee of Gilroy Foods, died May 26 in Hollister. He was 40.
Mr. Ceja was born in LaJoya, Michoacan, Mexico, and was a resident of Hollister for 20 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Teamsterís Local 890.
He is survived by his parents, Carlos and Cristina Ceja of Hollister, siblings Maria Servin, Alicia Gonzalez, Cristina Ceja, Esperanza Ceja, Enrique Ceja and Jesus Ceja of Hollister, Jose Luis Ceja of Modesto, Juan Carlos Ceja of Miami, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The rosary and vigil is tonight at 7 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander, with mass Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is today at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.

Roseltha E. Beard Green
Roseltha Beard Green, a former Hollister resident, died May 19 at Grand Junction, Colo. She was 88.
Mrs. Green was born on April 19, 1913. When WWII ended, her husband, David, started an optometry practice in Hollister, where they made their home until he died in 1996. She returned to Colorado in 1998.
Mrs. Green belonged to the Hollister United Methodist Church, Fidelity Rebekah Lodge, Athena Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Hollister Womenís Club.
Mrs. Green is survived by her brother, Wallace Beard of Grand Junction, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Merle Green, husband David Green, and brother Irving Beard.
Graveside services will be June 13 at 2 p.m. at the IOOF Cemetery. Rev. David Rodriguez of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Bowlus
Ruth Bowlus, a Hollister resident, died May 16. She was 89.
Mrs. Bowlus was born in Central City, Nebraska and came to Hollister from San Fernando. She was a member of the Simi Valley Presbyterian Church, Wings of History in Morgan Hill and the Soaring Society of America.
Mrs. Bowlus is survived by her son, Chuck Bowlus of Sparks, Nev., son Jack Bowlus of Hollister, sister Prudence Preston of Burbank, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William Hawley Bowlus who died in 1967, four sisters, and sons Richard Bowlus and Bill Bowlus.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday at the home of Jack and Marian Bowlus, 3891 Cienega Road, Hollister. Rev. E. Lloyd Evans will conduct the service.
Donations are preferred to Wings of History, c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.

Frank Furrer
Frank Furrer, a former Hollister resident, died May 17. He was 97.
Mr. Furrer was born April 2, 1904, in Switzerland and came to the U.S. when he was 26. He settled in Santa Rosa then moved to Salinas, where he worked for a dairy. After living in San Francisco and Prunedale, he retired and moved to San Juan Bautista, where he lived from 1972 through 1998.
"He worked seven days a week except for going to church," said his family. In 1998 he sold his five acres in San Juan Bautista and moved to Dos Palos for health reasons.
Mr. Furrer is survived by his wife, Mary D. Furrer of Watsonville, daughter Barbara Coelho of Salinas, son Frank Furrer Jr. of Watsonville, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and Pearl Poole of Dos Palos, caregiver and very close friend. Mr. Furrer was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Milligan.
The funeral was Tuesday at Old Mission San Juan Bautista with interment at San Juan Cemetery.
Donations are preferred to a favorite charity.

Frank J. Galdos
Frank Galdos, a former Hollister resident, died May 20. He was 88.
Mr. Galdos was born in Amador City and came to Hollister in 1925. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Galdos retired from the bakery business in 1963 after having owned and operated the Model Bakery with his brother-in-law, Bill Garcia.
Mr. Galdos is survived by his daughter, Francine Head of Gilroy, siblings Marie Vallejo, Louise Branum, Helen Garcia, Laura Baughman, Tom Galdos, Juanita Marcus and Carmen Vieira, all of Hollister, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Galdos was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Galdos, who died in 1989, son Richard Swartz, who died in 1988 and sister Henrietta Leichtle.
A memorial service will be held today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Cremation and private inurnment will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Hollister.
Contributions are preferred to the Hospice of the Valley, 1150 S. Bascom Ave., Suite 7A, San Jose, CA 95128-3509.

Donna Marie McCardle
Donna McCardle, a former Hollister resident, died April 20 in Washington State. She was 53.
Mrs. McCardle was born May 28, 1947 in Worcester, Mass., and lived in Hollister from 1973 to 1983. Mrs. McCardle was a community leader, poet, singer and actress in many events in Washington.
Mrs. McCardle is survived by her husband Bill McCardle of Lakebay, Wash., in-laws Barbara and Jack Galli of Hollister, sister Jacklyn Thomas of Hollister, sister Felicia Andrade of Hollister, brother Guido Galli of San Rafael, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life took place in Tacoma April 26.
Memorials may be sent in her memory to Donna McCardle Acct. #83941, Telco Community Credit Union, 8920 Key Peninsula Highway North, Key Center, Washington 98349 to help defray her medical expenses.

Sammy Velva Poole
Sammy Poole, a Hollister resident, died May 14. She was 97.
Mrs. Poole was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and came to Hollister in 1965. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Poole is survived by her children, Barbara Nolan of San Francisco, and James Echols of Coarsegold, sister Hazel Jones of Phoenix, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death last year by her husband Elbert "Eddie" Poole.
The funeral is today at 10 a.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. Friends can pay their respects after 9 a.m. at the Black Cooper Sander funeral home chapel.

Luke Michael Wilson
Luke Wilson of Oregon died May 15. He was 2 months.
Luke is survived by his parents Sarah Hayhurst and Chet Wilson, grandmother Cathy Lopez, grandfather Brad Wilson, all of Florence, Ore., and great grandparents John and Jo Amelio of Hollister, and great grandparents Tony and Naomi Schneider of Hollister.
Services are pending in Oregon.

Jenna Marie Zanger
Jenna Zanger, the infant daughter of Gene and Anne Zanger, died May 2.
Jenna Zanger is survived by her mother Anne Zanger of Hollister, father Gene Zanger of Hollister, grandparents Ruth and Done Urbancic of Gainesville, Ga., grandparents Eugene and Pauline Zanger of Hollister, also aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial services was held May 5 at St. Benedictís Church. Rev. Miguel Grajeda officiated with participation by Gary Byrne. Music was provided by Ed DeGroot and Mary Blaser. Inurnment followed the services at St. Benedictís Columbarium. Arrangements were through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.
