DONALD HALL, SR. 1932 - 2003
GROTON: Donald W. Hall, Sr. , 71 of 17 Eden Drive, Groton, NY died at 11:05pm,
Wednesday evening, September 3, 2003 at Cortland Memorial Hospital, Cortland,
Born June 30, 1932 in North Lansing, he was a son of the late Earl and Ella
Besteader Hall. Mr. Hall was a self employed Truck Driver, associated with
Landstar Ranger Trucking Company, based in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a
member of The Cortland Moose Lodge # 1512.
Survivors include his daughter JoAnn (Mike) Kane of Syracuse, NY, his son
Donald Jr. of Tully, NY, one brother Robert (June) Hall of North Lansing, three
sisters, Viola (Douglas) Oltz of Auburn, Loubelle Shantie of Raymondsville, NY,
Loretta Lucenti of Concord, NC, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00am at The Lansing Funeral Home, Inc.
Burial will follow in North Lansing Cemetery. The family will receive friends
today, between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the funeral home, 32 Auburn
Road, Lansing, NY.

Donald D. "Smokey" Wagner, 77 formerly of Lansing, NY died Friday evening, June
30, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse, New York.
Born August 29, 1923 in Lansing (Myers) NY, he was the son of the late Edward
and Blanche Inman Wagner. Mr. Wagner was employed by International Rock Salt
(now known as Cargill, Inc.) as a Salt Bagger and served in The United States
Army from 1943-1945 and in the United States AirForce from 1950 to 1954. He
received five battle stars for his service.
Surviving Mr. Wagner are one son, Donald Wagner, Jr, of Danby New York, a
niece, a nephew and many cousins. His extended family includes Mabel Teeter of
Groton, NY, May Brown and Mike Martin both of Locke, NY. He was preceded in
death by his parents and one brother, Edward Wagner, Jr.
Graveside Funeral services are schueduled at 10:00am Saturday, July 7, 2001 at
Pine Grove Cemetery, Lansing, New York. Rev. Martha E. Swords will officiate.
No public calling hours are scheduled.

WANDA B. STAMBAUGH 1926 - 2003
Wanda B. Stambaugh, 77 of Ithaca, New York died at 1:50pm, Saturday afternoon,
September 27, 2003 at Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca, NY. Mrs. Stambaugh died
of complications from a fall, which occurred in her office on Thursday evening,
September 18, 2003
Mrs. Stambaugh was born on April 4, 1926 in Fiskburg, Kentucky, a daughter of
the late Hobart and Mattie Tobitt Fling Bridges. A 1944 graduate of Simon
Kenton High School, Indpendence, KY, Mrs. Stambaugh continued her education and
graduated in 1948 from Georgetown College, Georgetown, KY. Upon graduation, she
obtained a teaching position at the High School she attended and taught History
until 1953. At that time, she accepted a position in the Waterloo School
District where she taught until 1955. In 1955, Ithaca received a gift, when
she accepted a teaching position and moved to Ithaca. Shortly thereafter, she
became a Guidance Counselor and continued her career of 48 years with the
Ithaca City School District until the time of her death. Among her many
accomplishments and honors, Mrs. Stambaugh received two awards from the
Tompkins County Human Rights Commission; the Marjorie Penalver Education Award
in 1993 and the Beverly J. Martin Award on November 18, 2000. The Ithaca
High School Guidance Department honored her by naming their office, The Wanda
B. Stambaugh Counseling Center. Mrs. Stambaugh will be fondly remembered for
her dedication to the youth of our community and her sincere concern for
others. To honor her memory, our world would be a better place, if we were each
able to emulate but a few of her admirable qualities.
Survivors include her brother Wendel (Billie) Bridges of Morning View, KY, 5
nephews, 3 nieces and her sister-in-law Glenna Bridges of Independence, KY. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Wayne Bridges
who died September 16, 2000.
Funeral services will be privately conducted with burial on Wednesday
morning,in the Bridges Family Plot in Wilmington Baptist Church Cemetery,
DeMossville, KY. There are no calling hours. A celebration of Mrs. Stambaughs
life will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Kulp Auditorium in The
Ithaca High School.

Morningview, KY 41063.
In honor and memory of Wanda Stambaugh's 48 years at Ithaca High School, a
memorial fund has been established in her name. All donations will be used to

Albert Martin Grant,"Wonka" 76 of 17 Belvedere Drive, Ithaca, NY died at
12:15pm, Thursday afternoon, October 16, 2003 at his residence.
Born September 12, 1927 in Harford, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late
Rupert and Myra Tompkins Grant. Mr. Grant received an honorable discharge for
serving in The United States Army on September 8, 1955. Mr. Grant was a pilot
for Eastern Airlines during the 1950s, after which he became a truck salesman
for Cayuga Motors. Subsequently, he purchased that business and operated Cayuga
Ford. He most recently was a sales representative for western apparel. He was a
member of the Harford Lodge # 445, F. & A.M., The Keystone Consistory and The
IREM Temple Shrine. Mr. Grant's hobbies included trapshooting, where he
competed locally and nationally, his grandchildren, who affectionately called
him "Wonka" and all his feline and canine companions.
Survivors include his wife Betty (nee Austin), daughters Sandra (Doug)Hagin,
Sheila Sheehan, Marilyn (Cameron) Willkens all of Ithaca, his brother Dale
(Lizabeth) of Harford, PA., his half sisters Helen Foster of Susquehanna, PA,
Doris (Charles) Morrison of Harford, PA, his aunt Helen Robinson of
Fredericksburg, MD, cousins Stan (Toni) Robinson of Fort Wayne, IN, Carol
(Will) Short of Fredericksburg, MD, niece Laurie Jean Grant and his
grandchildren, Casey and Kelsey Hagin and Megan and Monica Willkens.
Funeral services will be at 12:00pm Monday at The First Congregational Church
of Harford. Burial will follow in Harford Cemetery. The family will receive
friends at The Lansing Funeral Home, Inc. 32 Auburn Road, Lansing on Sunday
afternoon, between the hours of 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

Ethel Deutschmann, 87 of Ithaca, NY formerly of Huntington, New York died at
8:30pm, Thursday evening, October 23, 2003 at a local nursing home.
Mrs. Deutschmann was born May 18, 1916 in Astoria, New York, she was the
daughter of the late John and Jeanette Hosek Maskiell and the wife of the late
Adolph. Mother of Barry, Eric, Claudia Ruther and Hazel Garrett.
Funeral services will private.

Antoinette Wilkinson 83 of 309 Savage Farm Drive, Ithaca, NY died Sunday
afternoon, November 2, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital,Rochester, New York.
Born January 24, 1920 in Andretta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late
Gennaro and Petronilla Guglielmo Miele and the widow of Dr. Robert Elzworth
Wilkinson, who died February 13, 2003.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2003 at The
Lansing Funeral Home, Inc., 32 Auburn Road, Lansing, between the hours of
2:00pm and 4:00pm. Private burial will be on Sunday at Pleasant Grove
Cemetery, Ithaca, New York. A public Memorial Service will be held on Sunday,
1:00pm at Kendal at Ithaca, Conference Room C.

Mrs. Bertrice Louise Favaloro, age 95 of Ithaca, New York died Monday morning,
March 4, 2002 at Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca, NY.
Born March 8, 1906 in Freeville, New York, she was the daughter of the late
L.B. and Edna Moseley Sutliff. Mrs. Favaloro was employed as a Registered
Nurse at Tompkins County Hospital (now Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca) and in
earlier years had been employed at The Reconstruction Home of Ithaca, Brooklyn
Jewish Hospital and Bellevue Hospital, NYC. She was a parishioner of St.
Catherine of Siena R.C. Church and had also faithfully attended services at All
Saints R. C. Church, Lansing and Immaculate Conception Church, Ithaca.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Edna and Lewis Favaloro-Cramer of
Ithaca, New York, her grandchildren, Victoria Wright and Thaddeus Rubens and
four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00am at All Saints
R. C. Church, 347 Ridge Road, Lansing. Interment in Willow Glen Cemetery will
be delayed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon, between
the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm at THE LANSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., 32 Auburn
Road, Lansing.

Helen Elizabeth Hurd, age 91 of 505 Ridge Road, Lansing, New York died at
8:32am, Sunday, March 10, 2002 at a local nursing facility in Ithaca, New York.
Born February 20, 1911 in Ithaca, she was the daughter of the late Chester and
Ida May Merrill Tyler and the widow of David L. Hurd, who died October 10,
1996. Mrs. Hurd was a 1929 graduate of Ithaca High School, and a former
member of The Hawthorn Rebekah Lodge # 163, Ithaca. Prior to her retirement,
she was employed as an Administrative Assistant with the New York State
Cooperative Extension at Cornell University.
Her survivors include a son, Thaddeus (Marge) Hurd of Lansing, NY, three
grandchildren Todd Hurd of South Charleston, West Virginia, Phaedra (Aaron)
Arellano of Huntington Beach, California, Sherry Michael of Jenkinstown,
Pennsylvania, several cousins, nephews and nieces, including Rosa Murray of
Ithaca, New York, with whom Helen shared a very close and special relationship.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00am at THE LANSING FUNERAL HOME, INC.
Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery will private. The family will receive friends
on Tuesday, between the hours of 4:00pm and 6:00pm, at the funeral home, 32
Auburn Road, Lansing, New York.

Mrs. Mildred F. Ford, age 94 of 24 Franklyn Drive, Lansing, New York, formerly
of Trumansburg, New York died early Thursday morning, March 14, 2002 at a
nursing facility in Ithaca, New York.
Born April 26, 1907 in the Town Of Minden, New York, she was the daughter of
the late Thomas A. and Lula Weyland Francis and the widow of William R. Ford,
who died November 12, 1989. Mrs. Ford was a graduate of Fort Plain High School
and Albany Medical Center, school of nursing. She had been employed as a
Registered Nurse for Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca and was previously on
staff at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. A charter member of the Albany
Alumni Association, Mrs. Ford was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist
Survivors include her sons, William R. Ford and his wife Laura of Lansing, New
York, Robert Ford of Ecletic, Alabama, her sister, Thelma Granger of Fort
Plain, New York, four grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services and interment in Frear Memorial Park, Ithaca, New York will be
private. Family calling hours will be held on Sunday at THE LANSING FUNERAL
HOME, INC. 32 Auburn Road, Lansing, New York 14882.

Neal R. Stamp, 83 of Ithaca, New York passed away Friday, March 15, 2002 after
a sudden illness.
Mr. Stamp was born in Watkins Glen,NY, the son of Nelson M. and Mae Broderick
Stamp. He graduated from Cornell University in 1940 and received a Law degree
from Cornell in 1942. After serving in the United States Army in North Africa
and Italy from 1942-1945, he went into private law practice in Rochester, NY.
In 1947, Mr. Stamp returned to Cornell to join the staff as Associate Legal
Counsel. In 1959, he rose to the position of Secretary of both the Corporation
and the Board of Trustees of Cornell University. From 1962 until 1979, Mr.
Stamp served as University Counsel for Cornell. He continued as Senior Counsel
to the University from 1979 until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Stamp was a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar
Association, The Tompkins County Bar as well as the Association of the Bar for
the City of New York. He helped found the National Association of College and
University Attorneys. He served on its executive board for several years and as
the President from 1976-1977. He was a Director of The Cornell Research
Foundation as well as the Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory.
Mr. Stamp was active in the community as well, throughout his lifetime. He
served on the Board of Trustees of The Tompkins County Hospital for many years
and was President of the Board from 1961-1962. He was a Director of The First
National Bank and held the position of Chairman from 1978-1984. Mr. Stamp also
served on the Board of Challenge Industries and was on the founding board of
the Cornell Association of Professors Emeritus. He was also a sponsor of the
Cornell Plantation.
More recently, Mr. Stamp served on the Tompkins County Foundation and the
Senior Citizen’s Directors Board. He was also a member of the Ithaca Rotary
Mr. Stamp was predeceased by his siblings, Florence Carpenter, Iva Bower and
Charles N. Stamp, Sr. of Watkins Glen, NY and Mrs. Charlotte Hayes of Montour
Falls, NY.
Mr. Stamp is survived by his wife Maja (nee Cavetz) Stamp of Ithaca, NY., his
niece Gayle (Thomas) Digan of Vienna, VA.his nephew Thomas (Eleanor) Stamp of
San Bernadino, CA. and their children.
A memorial service for Mr. Stamp is being planned for May and will be announced
at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be directed to the Cornell
Plantations, One Plantations Drive, Ithaca, New York 14850.

Sister Mary E. Wintish of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Lansing, New York
died this morning, March 20, 2002 in Rochester, New York.
A public viewing will be held Thursday, March 21, 2002 at All Saints Roman
Catholic Church, 347 Ridge Road, Lansing between the hours of 3:00pm and 7:00PM.
A Vigil Service will be held in the parish hall at 7:00pm.

Frederick Marc Coleman, age 54 of 408 Columbia Street, Ithaca, New York died
suddenly on Saturday, March 30, 2002 while skiing at Sugarbush Ski Resort in
Warren, Vermont.
Born November 4, 1947 in Freeport (Long Island)New York he was the son of
Evelyn (nee Liebowitz) Coleman of Boynton Beach, Florida and the late Jerome
Coleman who died in 1993. Also preceded in death by his brother Roger in 1998.
Mr. Coleman was a Counselor for Family Counseling Services of Cortland County
and had previously been employed as a Career Counselor in the Pace Program and
Tompkins Cortland Community College. One of his many joys in life was writing
and playing music. He performed with his brother Jeff in a band called The
Coleman Brothers.
In addition to his Mother, he is survived by a son Robin of Ithaca, New York,
his loving partner Carole Dennis of Ithaca, his brothers Jeff of Ithaca and Dan
(Paula Michaels) of Chapel Hill, NC, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday, 1:00pm at THE LANSING FUNERAL HOME INC. 32 Auburn
Road, Lansing, New York. Rabbi Michael Faber will officiate. Interment will
be private.
Memorials may be directed to an Educational Trust being established for his son
and may be mailed to Jeff Coleman, ESQ, 107 South Plain Street, Ithaca, New

W.C. "BILL" JOHNSON 1915 - 2002
Mr. W. C. "Bill" Johnson, age 86 of 83 Freese Road, Ithaca, New York died
Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2002 at Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca, New Yor
Born September 3, 1915 in New Sweden, Maine, he was the son of the late Axel
Herman and Lillian Anderson Johnson. Mr. Johnson moved to New York State in
1947 and was employed as a warehouse Manager for Cornell University Campus
Store. He retired in 1980. He had previously been employed as a Production
Manager for Clark Seed Farms in Richford, New York.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife Claudette “Sis” (nee Teaney) of Ithaca, his
children, including Donnita (Douglas) Hovey of Ithaca, his brother, Frederick
(Goldie) of Lakeland, FL, and a cousin Hampy Johnson of New Sweden, ME.
Funeral services and interment will be private.
