From Yavapai County, Arizona:

Verne Twibell
Verne Twibell, 89, died Monday, May 4, 1998, at a local nursing home.
He was born May 22, 1908, in Lincoln County, Kan., to Ned and Mary (Gouley) Twibell.
Mr. Twibell served in World War II. He was a baker while in the service, and continued to be a baker for most of his life. He moved to Arizona in the late 1950s, and to Prescott in the 1960s.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; brothers, Rex of Bentonville, Ark., and Gail of Bayard, Neb.; and sister, Ardis Heglar of Saline, Kan.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memory Chapel Mortuary helped the family with arrangements.

Cecile Mayer
Cecile Mayer, 78, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 10, 1920, in Ontario, Canada, to Elie and Loretta Mayer.
Ms. Mayer traveled extensively and collected many memories and souvenirs. She enjoyed entertaining and used her cooking skills both professionally and privately, preparing delicacies for those around her.
Her family and friends were precious to her, as well as Labradors and small children.
She is survived by a cousin, Robert Mayer, of Brighton, Mich.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave. Cremation was private, and inurnment will be in Brighton, Mich.

Ruby Hawthorne
Ruby Nadine Hawthorne, 84, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at the Arizona Pioneers' Home.
She was born April 17, 1914, in Baird, Texas, to James William and Lutie Mapel (Welch) McElhannon.
Mrs. Hawthorne moved to Arizona from Texas in 1915. She was a loving wife, mother and friend, and a loving grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Lois Bridge of Cordes Lakes and Nancy Ritter of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday at the Arizona Pioneers' Cemetery. Please call Memory Chapel at 445-1881 for time of services.

Charles Riccelli
Charles "Chas" P. Riccelli, 18, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, in Prescott.
He was born Nov. 5, 1979, in Prescott, to Peter Riccelli and Sherry (Prinz) Miller.
He was a Prescott High School student. He was a member of the Jr. Golf Association, and he liked water sports, basketball and fishing.
Survivors include his parents, Sherry and Tim Miller of Prescott, grandparents, Charles and Deloris Prinz of Dewey, Peter Riccelli of Iowa and Gennie Lafferty, also of Iowa; stepbrother, Michael Riccelli of Iowa and numerous aunts and uncles. His father, Peter Riccelli, preceded him in death in 1996.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Chapel on Highway 69.

Ulis Massey
Ulis H. Massey, 80, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at Mountain View Manor Care Center, Hospice Family Care Ward.
He was born April 15, 1918, in Marshall, Ark., to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Althea (Bryan) Massey.
Mr. Massey served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marines. He later worked for Texaco, maintaining the crude level in the San Pedro and Wilmington refineries in California for 29 years, retiring in 1975.
He and his wife, Willie, moved to Prescott from Westminister, Calif. He was a member of the Oddfellows and a past Noble Grand. He also belonged to the Rebeccas in Prescott and was a member of the Masonic Aztlan Lodge #1, American Legion Post #6, and was also a Smoki.
He enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing, and loved to go four-wheeling and riding his motorcycle when he was younger. He was involved with boxing and was a golden gloves champion. He enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends, but being a member of the Smoki was very special to him. He was proudest of his family.
Survivors include his wife, Willie of Prescott; daughters, Jean Focke of Prescott, Linna McCormick of Litchfield Park and Peggy Massey of Kent, Wash.; son, Bill of Phoenix; brother, Jack of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at the 100F Cemetery.

Marilyn Williams
Marilyn F. Williams, 71, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, in Prescott.
She was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Binghampton, N.Y., to Myron and Marion (Huslander) Lane.
Mrs. Williams and her husband, LaVern, moved to the Prescott County Club in Dewey in January 1994. They previously resided in Bossier City, La., where Mr. Williams was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base.
She attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. She was a biologist and worked in cancer research in St. Louis, Mo. She also worked in Osaka, Japan, for several years, where she appreciated the culture and people of that country.
Mrs. Williams served many years in the Officers' Wives Club. She and her husband formed many lifelong friendships around the nation during their years in the Air Force. After retirement, they enjoyed the companionship of their new friends in the Prescott Country Club community. She was also a patron of the arts. She had a passion for reading, classical music, and ballroom dancing.
Survivors include her husband, Col. (ret.) USAF LaVern Williams of Dewey; daughter, Natalie Linn of Bossier City, La.; sons, David of San Diego, Calif. and Scott of San Jose, Calif.; sister, Yvonne Burnett of Auburndale, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Private services will be held.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Yavapai Humane Society, 1625 Sundog Ranch Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Everett Kenyon
Everett V. Kenyon, 78, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, in Prescott.
He was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Pomfret, Vt., to John and Delia (Rebtoy) Kenyon.
Mr. Kenyon was born on his parents' farm in Vermont, where he stayed and worked until 1946. He married Lillian Bailey in March 1942 in Vermont.
After moving off the farm, he worked for Lambert's Construction, and later worked as a truck driver. He worked for Gleson Transportation and Dairy Transportation for 21 years, retiring in 1975. He and his wife moved to Prescott Valley in 1981, from Clairmont, N.H.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Prescott Valley; daughter, Linda Dearborn of Clairmont, N.H.; son, Norman of Prescott Valley; brothers, Ernest of White River Junction, Vt., John of West Lebanon, N.H., and Bernard of South Royalton, Vt.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69 in Prescott Valley, with the Rev. James Cunningham officiating.

Helen Swigart
Helen Mae Swigart, 74, died Friday, May 1, 1998, in Prescott.
She was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Wichita, Kan., to Jessie and Bertha Elwell.
Mrs. Swigart moved to Prescott four weeks ago from Kerrville, Texas. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest of Prescott; daughters, Belinda King of Phoenix and Debbie Anatole of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; sons, Halstan Williams of California and Daniel Dombek of Colorado; three brothers; one sister; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Private services will be held at a later date.
