Gene Jaynes
Eugene Carlyle "Gene" Jaynes, 81, 2515 Main, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at his home
after a three-year illness. Mr. Jaynes was born Dec. 13, 1916, in Joplin and was a lifetime resident. He attended Joplin public schools. He was employed by the former F.W. Woolworth Co. as an assistant manager. He owned and operated the former Gene's Dairy Jane, 26th and Main Streets, from 1960 until his retirement in 1980. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was a former member of Earl J. Bruton VFW Post No. 534, Joplin, and Joplin Elks Lodge No. 501.
He married Jane Pierce on Aug. 9, 1945, at Columbus, Kan. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Richard C. Jaynes, Joplin; a daughter, Carole Waggoner, Joplin; two sisters, Verna Belle Blinzer and Nadine Stringer, both of Joplin; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, with the Rev. Jerry Mayfield officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or to Parkinson's Disease Research, in care of the mortuary.

Shot Shryock
Charles P. "Shot" Shryock, 91, 709 Conner, died at 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at a local nursing home after an illness.
Mr. Shryock was born July 23, 1906, at Pierce City. He was graduated from Galena (Kan.) High School in 1924. He had lived in Joplin since 1947, when he moved from Galena. He worked for 27 years at Eagle-Picher Industries' Insulation Division, Joplin, and retired in 1968. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
He married Thelma O. Steely on Oct. 12, 1932, at Galena. She died Oct. 10, 1975.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter.
Survivors include a son, Charles W. Shryock, Joplin; a sister, Mary Ford, Kansas City; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Leonard Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.

Vivian Wilhoit
Services for Vivian Wilhoit, 73, Paducah, Ky., formerly of Joplin, who died Saturday, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, with the Rev. Bill Newby officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Paducah, in care of the mortuary.

Tony Appel
LAMAR, Mo. - Anthony John "Tony" Appel, 90, Lamar, died at 6:57 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, after a short illness.
Mr. Appel was born Oct. 18, 1907, at Frankfort, S.D. He had lived in the Lamar area the past four years. He was a farmer and raised Hampshire hogs. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lamar, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
He married Adeline Louise Kirschbaum on April 11, 1937, at Defiance, Iowa. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Betty Ann Schiltz, Lamar, and Bernice Willadsen, Ocheyedan, Iowa; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Defiance, with the Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Schiltz, Jim Schiltz, Dean Willadsen, Dan Willadsen, Bill Martin and Clark Wood.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Alba Davidson
SARCOXIE, Mo. - Alba S. Davidson, 89, Sarcoxie, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at a Mount Vernon nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Davidson was born Sept. 16, 1908, at Diamond. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Temple, Sarcoxie.
She married Lyle Davidson on Dec. 24, 1927, at Hallowell, Kan. He died Feb. 28, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Doyle Davidson, McKinney, Texas; three daughters, Dorothy Mitchell, Republic, Betty Jackson, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Glenda Schoen, Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Housh Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, with the Rev. John Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Sarcoxie Cemetery.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thelma Henson
NEVADA, Mo. - Thelma Marie Henson, 80, Winslow, Ark., formerly of Nevada, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Henson was born Sept. 26, 1917, at Stockton, where she was raised. She moved in 1946 to the state of California. She returned in 1958 to Vernon County. She worked 10 years at the Nevada State Hospital, retiring in 1984. She had lived the last 6� years at Winslow. She was a member of a United Church of God.
She married Finis Martin Henson in 1936 at Stockton. He died in 1958.
Survivors include a son, Gale Henson, Liberal; five daughters, Belva June Adams, Winslow, Helen Manka and Eva Bramlett, both of Lamar, and Patsy Davis and Carol Jackson, both of Kansas City; two brothers, Otha Hyder and Athel Hyder, both of Nevada; 23 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.
A son preceded her in death.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The Rev. Ozzie Englebart will officiate. Burial will be in Wagoner Cemetery at Stockton.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. today to 2 p.m. Tuesday at funeral home, where family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m today.

Edward Jones
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. - Edward Thomas Jones, 55, Mount Vernon, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Jones was born Oct. 29, 1942, at Wright City. He was a member of a Baptist church at Miller. He worked 18 years at a local truck stop.
Survivors include his mother, Dorotha Swearingen, Mount Vernon; four sisters, Josephine Simmons, Seymour, Susie Anderson, Lebanon, Christine Mosher, Joplin, and Sue (last name unknown), address unknown; and his stepmother, Fern Jones, Mount Vernon.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. The Rev. Jerry Pyle will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ellen Sanchez
ANDERSON, Mo. - Ellen Sanchez, 78, Anderson route 2, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Sanchez was born Jan. 27, 1919, at Eaton Rapids, Mich. She had lived in Anderson since 1979, moving from Pontiac, Mich. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Noel, and a member of Daughters of the Nativity. She had worked as a beauty operator.
She married Floyd Anthony Sanchez on Oct. 8, 1939, at Farmington, Mich. He died Oct. 28, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Dale Sanchez, Lee's Summit; four brothers, G. Thomas McKinney, Callahan, Fla., Bill McKinney and Dallas McKinney, both of Chase, Mich., and Richard McKinney, Anderson; four sisters, Katherine Corey, Flint, Mich., Elizabeth "Betty" Shoemaker, Carthage, N.C., Nancy Whipple, Reed City, Mich., and Carol Jean Nagle, Fostoria, Mich.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity of Our Lord Church with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Lake Orion, Mich.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. and rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Contributions may be made to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in care of Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson.

Gertrude Craig
MIAMI, Okla. - Gertrude Craig, 97, 305 A St. N.W., died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at the home of her grandson, Mike McGee, of Mounds, of natural causes.
Mrs. Craig was born Sept. 14, 1900, near Galena, Kan. She graduated in 1915 from Galena High School. She graduated with a teaching degree in 1917 from the Pittsburg (Kan.) State Teachers College. She was a bookkeeper and had worked as a seamstress with the C.R. Anthony Store at Miami. She was a charter member of the Miami Garden Club and had been active in the Parent Teachers Organizations in both the Wilson Elementary School and the Roosevelt Elementary School, both of Miami. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Miami, where she was active in vacation Bible school and was a Sunday school teacher for more than 70 years.
She marred W.A. "Bill" Craig on Nov. 2, 1919, at Galena. He died March 24, 1978.
Survivors include a son, Roger Craig, Bartlesville; a daughter, Helen Durham, Miami; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Miami. The Rev. Jackie Allen and the Rev. Gerald L. Baser will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Pallbearers will be Mike Craig, Bill Craig, Ron McGee, Mike McGee and Monty McGee.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering of the First Baptist Church or Gideons International.

Harold Rickey
GROVE, Okla. - Harold Homer Rickey, 92, Grove, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at a local nursing home of an illness.
Mr. Rickey was born Jan. 19, 1905, at Kirksville, Mo. He moved in 1990 to Grove from Disney. He worked for 25 years as an assistant engineer for the Frisco Railroad at Tulsa, retiring in 1962. He was a Methodist. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
He married Gladys M. Rusk in 1930 at Perry. She died Dec. 4, 1991.
Survivors include a son, Harold H. Rickey Jr., Jay; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. The Rev. Nicky Blackford will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

Glenn Pace
Glenn R. Pace Jr., 70, Kansas City, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Liberty (Mo.) Hospital after an illness. He was the father of Ron
Yates, Joplin. Mr. Pace was born Feb. 6, 1927, at Sedalia. He was a scheduler for the Ford Motor Co. at Claycomo for 20 years. He retired in 1989.
He was a charter member of Northland Pentecostal Church of God, Liberty, where he served as a deacon until 1994 and had been the church secretary for 13 years. He was an Air Force veteran for 20 years and a Navy veteran for three years.
Additional survivors include his wife, Helen Pace; another son, Glenn Pace, Kansas City; a daughter, Sandra Livingston, Kansas City; two brothers, Lloyd Pace and Harvey Pace, both of Sedalia; a sister, Frances Wilhite, San Antonio, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Northland Pentecostal Church of God, Liberty. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, Kansas City.

Betty Smith
Betty J. Prince Smith, 70, 3305 Indiana Ave., died at 6:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Freeman Hospital East after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 26, 1927, at Carterville. She lived in Joplin most of her life. She was a 1945 graduate of Joplin High School. She was an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She had attended advanced art classes at Missouri Southern State College.
Survivors include three brothers, Paul Prince, the state of Illinois, Tom Prince and Robert Prince, both of Joplin; and three sisters, Mary Krieckhaus and Marjorie Workizer, both of Joplin, and Peggy Lemmons, Tulsa, Okla.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City. The Rev. William Christman will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary.
Contributions may be made to Community Clinic, Joplin.

Lillian Williams
Lillian S. Williams, 82, Lenexa, Kan., a former Joplin resident, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Columbia Overland Park Regional Medical Center after an illness.
Mrs. Williams was born July 1, 1915, at Sioux Falls, S.D. She was a graduate of Joplin High School. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Earle W. Williams, died Feb. 13, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Clark and Nancy McKinley, both of Lenexa; a brother, James K. Sims Sr., Lithonia, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Long, Augusta, Kan., and Charlotte Harrison, Wichita, Kan.; and a grandson.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Amos Family Funeral Home Chapel, Shawnee, Kan.

Bertha Burris
NEVADA, Mo. - Bertha Doreen Burris, 64, Nevada, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, after a long illness.
Mrs. Burris was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Evansville, Ill. She attended schools in Nevada and lived most of her life there.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God.
She married Joseph E. Burris on Jan. 24, 1947, at Nevada. He survives.
Additional survivors include four daughters, Lorna Steelmann, Kodiak, Alaska, Diana Tidwell, Federal Heights, Colo., Donna Clark, Westminster, Colo., and Debra Mayfield, Webb City; four brothers, Cecil Collins, Redding, Calif., Sonny Collins, Bunker Hill, Ill., Larry Collins, Jacksonville, Ala. and Clyde Collins, residence unknown; four sisters, Ann Jadlot and Georgette Collins, both of Nevada, Esther Holliday and Carol Garrett, both of El Dorado Springs; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The body has been cremated.

Ida Fischer
PIERCE CITY, Mo. - Ida Lee Ellen Fischer, 72, Pierce City, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Cox-South, Springfield, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Fischer was born July 25, 1925, in Lenexa, Kan. She was a registered nurse.
She married Donald Fischer in 1949, in Fayetteville, Ark. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Dwight Fischer, Pleasant Ridge; four daughters, Judy Essary, Wentworth, Janice Henson, Aurora, Jannel Jump, Lombard, Ill. and Marsha Fischer, Springfield; a brother, William Curnutte, Ditner; a sister, Lora Kelly, Hiland, Ind.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wessell Funeral Home, Pierce City, with Dick Palmer officiating.
Burial will be in the Clear Creek Cemetery, west of Pierce City.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruth Harris
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Ruth E. Harris, 80, 2440 Clinton St., died at 1:27 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Harris was born Oct. 16, 1917, at Canadian, Okla. She lived in Lamar before moving to Carthage in 1947. She and her husband operated Lee-Ru Dairy in Carthage from 1947 to 1973 and Ray's Cafe in Carthage from 1974 to 1977. They moved to Mesa, Ariz., in 1977, to Granite Shoals, Texas, in 1985, and they returned to Carthage in 1990.
She was a member of the Carthage First Baptist Church and the Dependable Sunday school class.
She married C. Lee Harris on March 10, 1934, in Lamar. He died May 18, 1990.
Survivors include three sons, David F. Harris, Carthage route 1, Derrel Harris, Liberty, and Dale Harris, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Mannie Edwards, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Lynette Brooks, Inola, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Knell Mortuary with the Rev. Ray Crews officiating. Burial will be in Round Prairie Cemetery, east of Lamar.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Carthage, in care of the funeral home.

Marian Isom
NEOSHO, Mo. - Marian H. Isom, 62, Danbury, Iowa, a former Neosho area resident, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Marian Health Center, Sioux City, Iowa, after an illness.
Mrs. Isom was born Nov. 2, 1935, near Battle Creek, Iowa. She was a 1954 graduate of Danbury (Iowa) Public High School. She worked as a nurses aide at Billy Sunday Retirement Home and Elaine's Nursing Home in Sioux City and at Maple Heights in Mapleton, Iowa. She also worked as a nurses aide and medication technician at Medical Lodge in Neosho. In 1990, she was selected as "med tech of the year" for the State of Missouri and was named the Medical Lodge's employee of the year.
She married Glen Isom on April 14, 1957, at Battle Creek. He survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Dawn Isom and Kelly Schmidt, both of Danbury; two sons, Scot Isom, Kansas City, and Gene Isom, Neosho; three sisters, Evelyn Rose, Lake City, Iowa, Betty Towne, Danbury, and Thelma Thompson, Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Orville Thompson, Oceanside, Calif., Don Thompson, Aledo, Ill., and Tim Thompson, Pelican Lake, Wis.; and five grandchildren.
Two children preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Danbury (Iowa) United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home, Ida Grove, Iowa.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Edward Jones
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. - Services for Edward Thomas Jones, 55, Mount Vernon, who died Sunday, will be 2 p.m. today at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
The Rev. Jerry Pyle will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
Additional survivors include two brothers, Frank Blair, Joplin, and Lewis, whose last name and address are unavailable.

Henry Lancrain
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Henry A. Lancrain, 81, Carthage, died at 11:18 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Lancrain was born May 18, 1916, at McGrath, Minn. He moved to Carthage in September 1985 from Mora, Minn. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Kanebeck County Highway Department in Minnesota. He also owned and operated his own salvage business in Minnesota. He retired from the highway department in 1981 after 23 years.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage, where he served as a trustee and charter member.
He married Dorothy E. Strampe on Nov. 12, 1938, at Onamia, Minn. She survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Connie E. Olsen, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Charles Lancrain, Mora; four sisters, Gladys Reineke, Melrose, Minn., Mildred Brostrom, Mora, Darleen Carlson, Little Falls, Minn., and Alice Etter, Isle, Minn.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage. James Schneckenberg, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Knell Mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home.

Adrian Martinez
NEVADA, Mo. - Adrian Frances Martinez, 70, Nevada, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Martinez was born Aug. 6, 1927, at Schenectady, N.Y. She had lived in Nevada for 26 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nevada.
She married Albert J. Martinez in September 1953 at Scotia, N.Y. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Stacy Martinez, Nevada; a daughter, Charlotte Goddard, Nevada; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. James Schrader will officiate. The body has been cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

D'Owen Williams
EAGLE ROCK, Mo. - Earl D'Owen Williams, 64, Eagle Rock, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Ark., after a sudden illness.
Mr. Williams was born July 1, 1933, at Hutchinson, Kan. He was employed at the Holiday Island Golf Course as a ranger.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Harper, Kan. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He married Christine Jeffrey on June 26, 1955, at Wakefield, Mass. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Jeff Williams, Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Terrie Peterson, Manila, Philippines, Carla Smith, Garner, Iowa, Christie Williams, Pittsburg, Texas, and Traci Remington, Bedford, Texas; his mother, Elva Williams, Corvallis, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harper (Kan.) City Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Calvert will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home.

CHETOPA, Kan. - Elsie Ruth Pliler, 95, Chetopa, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at a nursing home in Lowell after a long illness.
Miss Pliler was born Oct. 30, 1902, in Indian Territory, Okla. She had lived in the Chetopa area all her life before moving to the nursing home in 1991.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Chetopa, for more than 50 years.
Survivors include two sisters, Faye Harper, Baxter Springs, and Genevieve Reynolds, Miami, Okla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church, Chetopa. Don Parkison, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Chetopa.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Harper, 220 W. 22nd St., Baxter Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs.

May Boyd
MIAMI, Okla. - May Pearl Boyd, 78, 302 J St., N.W., Miami, died at 10:32 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, in a Tulsa medical center after a long illness.
Mrs. Boyd was born May 10, 1919, at Crane, Mo. She moved to Miami as a child and had lived there all of her adult life. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Miami, attending the Altruss Sunday school class and the Ladies Circle.
She married Lee Milton Boyd on Jan. 1, 1937. He died Dec. 31, 1989.
Survivors include a son, Robert Lee Boyd, Tulsa; a daughter, Mrs. Neva Jean Rodgers, Tulsa; and a sister, Dorothy Howsman, Miami.
Arrangements are pending with Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.

Timothy Kirk
MIAMI, Okla. - Timothy Blair Kirk, 34, Vinita route 2, a former Miami resident, died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at his home, the apparent victim of a shooting.
The death is being investigated by the Craig County Sheriff's Department and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office.
Mr. Kirk was born Feb. 8, 1963, at Welch. He lived in Vinita the past three years, moving from Miami. He was a 1981 graduate of Miami High School. He was a machinist for Dana Manufacturing Corp., Vinita. He previously worked for Lion Supply Co., Picher. He was a veteran of the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Jill Rickords; two daughters, Amanda Dawn Kirk and Ashley Marie Kirk, both of the home; his parents, Wayne and Jewel Kirk, Miami; and a brother, Thomas Kirk, Miami.
One son preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. Jappie Roberson and Clell Craft will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Pallbearers will be Rick Adams, Paul Adams, Gary Reynolds, Bobby Carder, Randy Mercer, Don Kropp and Rufus Greninger.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
