M. Louise Lee
Mary Louise Lee, 86, formerly of Brexton in Millwood, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000.

Mrs. Lee was born Oct. 29, 1913, in Meadow Mills, the daughter of William Hayes Racey and Mary Belle Snapp Racey. She was an operator for C&P Telephone. She and her husband owned and operated the Golden Rule Grocery in Millwood.

She was a member of Millwood United Methodist Church.

She married John Thomas Lee on June 27, 1934, in White Post. Mr. Lee died in 1970.

Surviving are a son, James W. “Jay” Lee of Winchester; two daughters, Jean Lee of Millwood and Mary Louise Hough of Boyce; two sisters, Anna Lillard of Berwyn Heights, Md., and Mozelle Bowser of Winchester; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville with the Rev. John Lock officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville.

Pallbearers will be Barry L. Bowser, David M. Hough Jr., Henry M. Julius, Reggie T. Fritts, John W. Franklin, and Bradley J. Boyce.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mabel B. Brent
Mabel B. “Peggy” Brent, 62, of Round Hill, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg.

Mrs. Brent was born Jan. 29, 1938, the daughter of Irvin Wesley and Annie Woodson Greene. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, Middleburg.

She was married to Robert L. Brent.

Surviving with her husband, are nine children, Terry A. Greene and Timothy M. Brent, both of Winchester, Robert F. Greene of Sterling, Peggy E. Greene, Tammy L. Brent, and Nicole D. Brent Rehman, all of Leesburg, Debra R. Young and Michele A. Pickett, both of Round Hill, and Steven Brent of Charles Town, W.Va.; four sisters, Evelyn M. Thornton and Dorothy M. Wilkerson, both of Leesburg, Doris R. Thornton of Sterling, and Wilma A. Bentley of Lucketts; five brothers, Calvin M. Greene, Curtis E. Greene, James W. Greene, Bernard E. Sheppard, and Irvin W. Greene Jr., all of Leesburg; and 20 grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Zion Baptist Church, Middleburg. Burial will be in Solon Cemetery, Middleburg.

Pallbearers will be LaJuan Hill, Julian Brown, Larry Brown, Irvin Greene III, and Gilbert Louis.

Lyles Funeral Home, Purcellville, is handling arrangements.

Madeline I. Baecher
Madeline I. Baecher, 87, formerly of Winchester, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Windermere Health & Rehab in Augusta, Ga.

Mrs. Baecher was born Aug. 5, 1912, in Clarke County, the daughter of John Edward and Ida Virginia Pennington Tumblin.

She was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church.

She was married to Joseph A. Baecher in Winchester.

Surviving are two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Ronald A. Baecher and Gary Baecher, are deceased.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steven Regan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pauline W. Baker
Pauline W. Baker, 86, formerly of Wardensville, W.Va., died on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at The Home nursing home in Woodstock.

Mrs. Baker was born May 21, 1914, in Pennsboro, W.Va., a daughter of the Rev. Clyde and Flossie Horner Wigner. She attended the Wardensville United Methodist Church in Wardensville where she was the organist. She a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

She was a worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Bethesda, Md., Chapter, and was the Grand Worthy Matron of the State of Maryland in the Eastern Star.

She married William O. Baker of Pennsboro, W.Va. He died July 15, 1981. She and her husband owned and operated the Bridge Market in Bethesda, Md.

Surviving are four sons, David L. Baker of Mercersburg, Pa., John P. and Thomas M. Baker of Wardensville, W.Va., and Robert W. Baker of Gaithersburg, Md., 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville with the Rev. S. Jeff Anderson officiating. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery in Ellenboro, W. Va. with Pastor Jim Staley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, W.Va.

Sarah J. Graw
Sarah Jane Rutz Graw, 56, of 326 Stonewall St., Strasburg, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Graw was born March 15, 1943, in Strasburg, the daughter of Harry Houston “Booty” Rutz and Laura Virginia Middleton Rutz. She was employed by Perry-Judd’s Inc. of Strasburg and was a member of Strasburg Presbyterian Church and Strasburg Women of the Moose No. 1319.

Surviving with her mother are her fiancée, Mickey Henson of Strasburg; two daughters, Alana C. Graw of Strasburg and Valerie M. Devoe of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, Lincoln S. Graw of Strasburg; two sisters, Judy A. Rutz of Strasburg and Margaret K. Ferguson of Lady Lake, Fla.; a brother, Charles W. Rutz of Strasburg; and two grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Strasburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Howard officiating. Burial will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Warren County.

Pallbearers will be Chris Rutz, Paul Ferguson, Brad Ferguson, Jack Rutz, Richard Rutz, Jeffrey Sine, and Mark Ferguson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, and will meet the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Charles E. O’Rear
Charles Edward O’Rear, 64, former chairman of the department of forensic sciences at George Washington University and past director of the Virginia Bureau of Forensics died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at his Arlington home.

Mr. O’Rear was born in Winchester on Jan. 2, 1936.

He was an authority in the field of biodeterioration.

He is survived by two sisters, Colleen Lewis of McLean and Kathleen Smith of Broad Run.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Arlington. Interment will be Mt. Hebron.

Jesse L. Wolfe
Jesse Lee Wolfe, 70, of Orchard Hills, Ranson, W.Va., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

Mr. Wolfe was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Romney, W.Va., the son of Orie Wolfe and Edith Walker Wolfe. He was a construction superintendent for building bridges and highways. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the Pentecostal faith.

He was married to Mary Etta Fansler Wolfe for 49 years.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Jesse Daniel Wolfe of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Michael David Wolfe of Ruskin, Fla.; four daughters, Mary Lee Barrick of Stark, Fla., Bonnie Jean Wingfield of Inwood, W.Va., Debra Jean Iglasis of Richmond, Ky., and Gloria Jean Wolfe of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three sisters, Martha Walker of Baltimore, and Mary Ammons and Barbara Walker of Cumberland, Md.; two brothers, Marvin Shingleton of Winchester and Joseph Walker of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Cumberland, Md.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson.

Helen W. Greene
Helen Walker Greene, 79, of Rural Retreat, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, in Grayson Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Independence.

Mrs. Greene was born in Detroit, the daughter of Roy and Ellen Stein Walker.

She was a nurse in the Navy and a member of Rural Retreat Baptist Church.

She was married to John W. Greene.

Surviving are two daughters, Meg G. Wilson of Monterey and Cass Greene of Boone, N.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rural Retreat Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Haskett officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Rural Retreat.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Lindsey Funeral Home, Rural Retreat.

Cynthia J. Perry
Cynthia “Cindi” Judy Perry, 43, of 140 Janes Way, Winchester, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Perry was born Nov. 26, 1956, in Winchester, the daughter of James W. and Anna Fleming Judy. She was a bookkeeper for Diamond Uniform Co. in Middletown and had worked for Judy Excavating in Middletown and Diamond Homes Inc. in Winchester.

She was a member and past matron of Spurmont Chapter 64, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of theFrederick County Educational Foundation and the Sherando High School Warrior Club. She was a volunteer with the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.

She married Randy R. Perry on Sept. 18, 1976, in Middletown.

Surviving with her husband, and her parents, of Middletown, are five children, Ryan Richard Perry of Stephens City, Colby James Perry of Winchester and Blacksburg, Blake Christopher Perry, Lance Alexander Perry, and Lacey Anne Perry, all at home; two sisters, Lou Ann Thompson and Robin Bentley, both of Middletown; a brother, James W. Judy Jr. of Middletown; and a grandson.

A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home, with Dr. William N. Wade officiating. Burial will be in the family Cemetery, Middletown.

Pallbearers will be Gary Lockridge, Lonnie Barham, Charles Bentley, Lester Cummings, James W. Judy Jr., and Joseph Hahn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Margaret E. Stotler
Margaret Ellen Stotler, 89, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs.

Mrs. Stotler was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Morgan County, W.Va., the daughter of Silas Champion and Letha Ellen Ambrose Shade.

She attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, and worked seasonally at Jack Proctor’s Canning Factory. She volunteered at the Morgan County Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Senior Citizens Kitchen Band. For many years, Mrs. Stotler was the oldest league bowler at the Berkeley Springs Bowlarama.

She was married to Flim Lester Stotler. Mr. Stotler died on Feb. 5, 1978.

Surviving are two daughters, Bernadean M. Youngblood and Irene S. Merchant, both of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Hazel Dailey of Berkeley Springs; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry L. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Bucks Cemetery, Morgan County.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Hilda S. Murphy
Hilda S. Murphy, 80, of Greenwood Road, Winchester, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Murphy was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Frederick County, the daughter of Everett O. and Edna Largent Stotler. She retired from J.C. Penney in 1986.

She was a former seasonal apple worker with Zero Pack and Shenandoah Apple Corp. She had worked at Aileen Manufacturing in Strasburg.

She was a graduate of Gainesboro High School.

She was married to Edward D. Murphy, who died on Aug. 12, 1986.

Surviving are three daughters, Peggy M. Vorous of Sandston, and Patsy M. Patton and Annette D. Murphy, both of Stephens City; a son, Charles R. Murphy of Stephens City; two sisters, Lettie Dick of Winchester and Dorothy Luttrell of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a brother, Russell Stotler of Bangor, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anthony Wadsworth officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Francis Vorous, Larry Patton, Scott Vorous, Mike Murphy, Donald Dick, Merilyn Stotler, and Charles Murphy.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mary T. Dofflemyer
Mary T. Dofflemyer, 79, of Front Royal, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Dofflemyer was born Aug. 17, 1920, in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of Robert Thomas and Ellen Mary Smart Hanlon.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She was married to John F. Dofflemyer.

Surviving with her husband, are four sons, John F. Dofflemyer Jr. of Chesapeake, Robert J. Dofflemyer of Stafford, Francis Tyrone “Tony” Dofflemyer of Glen Allen, and Joseph S. Dofflemyer of Front Royal; three daughters, Carol D. Smith of Greensboro, N.C., Barbara A. Bray of Cape Coral, Fla., and Michelle D. Williams of Stephens City; a sister, Bridie Curley of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Robert Hanlon of Ottawa, Canada; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A requiem Mass will be at noon Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Front Royal, with the Rev. William F. Ruehl officiating. Burial will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Todd Smith, Troy Smith, Terry Bray Jr., John F. Dofflemyer III, Chris Dofflemyer, Joe Dofflemyer Jr., Brian Dofflemyer, and Kevin Dofflemyer.

A Christian wake will be at 7 tonight at Maddox Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends until 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Front Royal Dialysis Center, 1077 Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal 22630.
