Dorothy B. Thompson
Dorothy B. Thompson died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, in Pennsylvania.

Her husband, Charles Fremont Thompson, is deceased.

Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie Thompson Rydholm; a son, Alan Thompson; two sisters, Helen Southerly and Jean Shorb; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Everly Funeral Home, Fairfax. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Frances L. Bragg
Frances L. Bragg of Brucetown died Sunday Jan. 28, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Arrangements with Jones Funeral Home are incomplete.

Evelyn D. Clowser
Evelyn D. Clowser, 84, of Double Church Road, Stephens City, died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

She was born June 6, 1916, in Rockingham County, the daughter of Henry Lee and Lucy Myrtle Rosenberger Driver.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church.

She served during World War II in the WACS and received the American Theatre Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

She married Wilbur Clowser April 1, 1957, and he died August 1, 1984.

She is the last member of her immediate family.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester with Dr. Ewart H. Wyle Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Driver, Roger McDonald, Lynn Clem, Samuel Brown, Hartsell Brown, and Warren Driver.

Friends may call on Tuesday.

Mark I. Good
Mark Irvin “Little Nut” Good, 36, of 103 E. Pall Mall St. died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001, in Winchester.

Mr. Good was born Nov. 20, 1964, in Indiana, Pa., the son of Perry Allen and Mary Ellen Henry Good.

He was an HVAC technician for MS Air and a member of the Winchester/Frederick County Conservation Club.

He married Lisa Fyock April 9, 1983 in Nanty-Glo, Pa.

Survivors including his wife and mother are four brothers, Dwayne Good, Edward Good, and Norman Good of Vintondale, Pa., and Terry Good of Northern Cambria, Pa.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Long-Contries Funeral Home in Northern Cambria with the Rev. Reginald Bell officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The family will also receive friends at Long-Contries Funeral Home in Northern Cambria from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Frank B. Klahre Sr.
Frank B. Klahre Sr., 60, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001, in City Hospital.

Mr. Klahre was born Sept. 22, 1940, in Ellerslie, Md, the son of Robert Donald and Lettie Conner Klahre.

He was a member of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Hog Association, a member of the Internal Dresser’s Association, and a number of Harley Davidson associations.

Survivors including his wife, Mary Rose Hansrote Klahre, four sons, Frank Klahre Jr. of Winchester, Rick Klahre, Brian Klahre, and Robert Klahre, all of Martinsburg; three daughters, Nancy Christmas of Martinsburg, Lisa Klahre of Winchester, and Cathy Fanelli of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; three brothers, Paul Klahre of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Bill Klahre of Halifax, Pa., and Terry Klahre of Martinsburg; two sisters, Grace Shiley of Wiconisco, Pa. and Marjorie Sines of Myersdale, Pa.

A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg with Pastor Don B. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hedgesville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thomas O. McGovern Jr.
Thomas Oliver McGovern Jr., 81, of Front Royal died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001 in Warren Memorial Hospital.

Mr. McGovern was born Sept. 19, 1919, the son of Thomas O. and Nellie Wood McGovern.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He received the Purple Heart for injuries received in October 1944 in France.

He married Elsie Jenkins Aug. 5, 1979, in Page County.

He worked as a plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitter Union Local 5. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose, Eagles, and Elks.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Roland T. “Buddy” McGovern of Chester Gap; a daughter, Jane Williams of Chester Gap; three stepsons, Terry and Archie Dodson, both of Luray, and Richard Dodson of Front Royal; a stepdaughter, Lisa Markowitz of Luray; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Burke officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy, Kevin, and Jim Williams and Timmy, Terry, and Archie Dodson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

John McIlwee
John McIlwee, 78, of Front Royal died Sunday Jan. 28, 2001, in Warren Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements with Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal are incomplete.

Roy Perry
Roy Perry, 71, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001 in Winchester Medical Center.

He was born March 20, 1929, in Morgan County, W.Va., the son of the late Reynard Roy and Viola Mae Walls Perry.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs. A 1948 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952.

He retired in 1985 after 31 years of service as a laboratory technologist with DuPont in Falling Waters, W.Va.

He was married to Betty Ceal Shanholtz Perry for 47 years.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Tamara Jean Gaither of Berkeley Springs and Tonya Sue Banks of Centreville; a son, Jeffrey Hunter Perry of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Betty Lou Hedmond of Steubenville, Ohio; a brother, James Edward William Perry of Berkeley Springs; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tara Lynn Perry in 1977.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs with Pastor Andrew Cooney officiating. Burial with graveside military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Enon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Largent, W.Va.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs.

Memorials may be made to the Morgan County Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 151, Berkeley Springs or the First United Methodist Church, 110 Green St. Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

William Pulse
William “Billy” Pulse, 72, of Inwood, W.Va., died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001, at his residence.

Mr. Pulse was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Jefferson County, W.Va., the son of James Allen and Emily Kane Pulse.

He was retired from Dixie Narco as a supervisor in quality control for 41 years and also worked at Charles Town Race Track.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge 948 in Ranson, W.Va.

Survivors including his wife are three sons, William Eugene Pulse and Charles Edward Pulse of Jefferson County, and Douglas Wayne Pulse of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three brothers, Allen Pulse of Charles Town, and Albert and Roy Pulse of Middleway, W.Va.; and a granddaughter.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, W.Va., with the Rev. James M. Peyton and Rev. R. Earl Wilbourne officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary E. Rutz
Mary Elizabeth Rutz, 79, of 578 Millner Road, Strasburg died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001, in Tandem Health Care, Woodstock.

Arrangements with Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg are incomplete.

Lawrence H. Shade Sr.
Lawrence H. Shade Sr., 92, of 202 Summit Ave. died Friday Jan. 26, 2001, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Shade was born July 13, 1908, in Frederick County, the son of Orlef B. and Dovie Luttrell Shade.

He was a mechanic for National Fruit Products Co., retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Church of the Brethren and attended Rosedale Baptist Church.

He was married to Helen Carper Shade for 66 years.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Lawrence H. Shade Jr. of St. Augustine, Fla.; a daughter, Peggy Ann Marple of Frederick County; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Hebron Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Stanley W. Sneathen
Stanley W. Sneathen, 34, of Stoney Hill Road died Sunday Jan. 28, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mary R. Viands
Mary Ruth Viands, 91, of Charles Town, W.Va. died Sunday Jan. 28, 2001, in Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

She was born May 1, 1909, in Clarke County, the daughter of Thomas L. and Sarah Tumblin Shull.

She married Abner M. Viands who died in 1951.

She was retired from the London Fog Co. in Boonsboro, Md., and was previously employed with the Perfection Garment Co. in Ranson.

She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town. She was a former member of the Ladies of the Moose Chapter 1028 in Charles Town and the American Legion Post 21 Ladies Auxiliary in Berryville.

Mrs. Viands is the last member of her immediate family.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town with Dr. Richard Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Paul G. Copenhaver
Paul Gilmore Copenhaver, 87, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Copenhaver was born Jan. 19, 1914, in Berkeley County, W.Va., the son of Benjamin Franklin and Emily Edith Small Copenhaver. He retired after 34 years as an equipment operator with B&O Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Way for 50 years.

He was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church for 80 years, a member of the Golden Hour Bible class, secretary of the Men’s class, and a deacon for more than 40 years.

He and his wife, C. Virginia Copenhaver, were married 62 years.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Albert G. Copenhaver of Winchester and Paul R. Copenhaver of Martinsburg; a daughter, Anna P. Cochran of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with the Rev. Douglas J. Hollida officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
