Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Mary A. Finney
Mary Alice Finney, 79, of 102 E. Main St., Apt. E8, Berryville, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Finney was born June 5, 1921, in New Market, the daughter of Cecil B. and Emma Lee Lloyd Good. She was a homemaker.

She married John H. Finney on May 7, 1943, in Orlando, Fla.

Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Wanda Finney of Chambersburg, Pa.; a son, John H. Finney Jr. of Quincy, Mass.; and a granddaughter.

Services will be private.

Memorials may be made to John H. Enders Fire and Rescue Company, 9 S. Buckmarsh St., Berryville, 22611; or Wilson College Annual Fund, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, is handling arrangements.

Robert L. Lutz
Robert Lewis Lutz, 75, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Mr. Lutz was born April 25, 1925, in Elkins, W.Va., the son of Lester and Margaret B. Luther Lutz. He retired as an engineer with the U.S. Postal Service and had served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II.

He had held several offices in the National Speilogical Society, the Potomac Speilogical Society, and the Robertson Association. He was a member of the German Baker’s Guild.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Lutz-Chiasson of Lorton; a son, Timothy R. Lutz of Strasburg; and three grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Michael R. Phelps and Associates, Funeral Directors, Stephens City, is handling arrangements.

Margaret M. King
Margaret M. King, 88, of Vienna, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000.

Mrs. King was born Aug. 2, 1912, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Joseph and Magdalene V. Mead. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna.

She was married to J. Carlton King.

Surviving are three sons, Lawrence King of Annandale and John Michael King and James David King, both of Vienna; a daughter, Judith Ann Post of Winchester; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Vienna, with Father Raymond Collins officiating. Burial will be in Flint Hill Cemetery, Oakton.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Money and King Funeral Home, Vienna. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northern Virginia, P.O. Box 1573, Merrifield 22116.

Velda M. Foltz
Velda Marie Foltz, 74, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.

Mrs. Foltz was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Frederick County, the daughter of Roy and Ethel Clark Stotler. She worked at the Interwoven Hosiery Mill and was a caregiver in private homes.

She was a member of Gospel Light Tabernacle, Berkeley Springs, and had attended Mt. Garfield School in Morgan County, W. Va.

She was married to Clasey Ivan Foltz.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Joyce Lyons of Berkeley Springs and Rhonda Michelle Carbaugh of Frederick, Md.; four sisters, Carrie Henry, Reva Poffinburger, and Kathleen Fleece, all of Berkeley Springs, and Ada Ambrose of Inwood, W.Va.; four brothers, Robert Stotler, Ralph Stotler, Delmas Stotler, and Leroy Stotler, all of Berkeley Springs; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Gospel Light Tabernacle, with Pastor Russell L. Cheek officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marshall Walter
Marshall Walter, 88, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Evergreen Health and Rehab Center, Winchester.

Arrangements with Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, are incomplete.

Elsie M. Rupp
Elsie Mathias Rupp, 82, of Romney, W.Va., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney.

Mrs. Rupp was born July 17, 1918, in Masontown,W.Va., the daughter of George F. and Lula Riley Wilson.

She owned and operated Elsie’s Beauty Shop in Romney. She was a member of Sandy Ridge Christian Church near Capon Bridge, W.Va. She was a member of Romney VFW Post 1101 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was married to Henry L. Rupp, who died Feb. 14, 2000. Her first husband was M. Brown Mathias.

Surviving are four sons, Gerald A. Mathias of Romney, John M. M. Mathias of Kirby, W.Va., Monty F. Mathias of Maitland, Fla., and Wayne E. Mathias of Stephens City, W.Va.; a daughter, Louise Potter of Augusta, W.Va.; a brother, Harry R. Wilson of Charleston, W.Va; a stepdaughter, Mary Beth Gross of Haddonfield, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; a step grandchild; and a step great-grandchild.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Capon Bridge Christian Church, Capon Bridge, with the Rev. Jack Wardrope and the Rev. Herman Goede officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge.

William Saville
William “Billy” Saville, 76. of HC-78, Box 180E, Augusta, W.Va., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Saville was born March 25, 1924, in Augusta, the son of James Fred and Flossie Nealis Saville.

He was a maintenance worker in the public schools of Mineral County, W.Va.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific aboard the USS Downs.

He was a member of Augusta Church of Christ and VFW Post 1101 and American Legion Post 91 of Romney, W.Va.

He was formerly married to Reda Mae Saville Haines.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Greenwalt Sisk of Winchester; two sons, Bill Saville Jr. of Stephens City and David Saville of Winchester; two sisters, Myrl Ruckman of Romney and Doris Irma Swisher of Baltimore; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, with Minister Dan Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty M. Bordeaux
Betty May Bordeaux, 72, of 1314 Reliance Road, Middletown, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Bordeaux was born July 10, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Clyde J. and Minnie Yoho Ross.

She worked in the family business, Bordeaux Shoe Repair and Orthopedic Work.

She married Joseph S. Bordeaux Jr. in 1971 in Reliance.

Surviving with her husband, and her mother, of Parkersburg, W.Va., are two sons, David R. Legg of Middletown and Charles Legg of Woodstock; two daughters, Cheryl Byrd of Knoxville, Tenn., and Karen Schultz of Front Royal; two stepsons, Tony Bordeaux and Stephen Bordeaux of Clearwater, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Koci, Wayne Byrd, Michael Byrd, James Longmire, Scott Willis, and Jason Legg.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Margaret M. Nocera
Margaret M. Poole Nocera, 71, of Winchester, formerly of Harrisonburg and Bridgeton, N.J., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Nocera was born in Bridgeton, the daughter of Charles and Chrissie Dare Poole.

She was married to Steven J. Nocera.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Susan J. Nocera of Gouldsboro, Pa., Christine M. McDonald of Walpole, N.H., and Jodi N. VanMeter of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Dorothy Uhland of Bridgeton; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Freitag Funeral Home, Bridgeton. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township, N.J.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

William H. Casper jr.
William Henry “Bill” Casper Jr., 59, of Augusta, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Casper was born March 31, 1941, in Staten Island, N.Y., the son of William Henry and Margaret Mary Bennett Casper.

He was a custodian at James Wood High School and a Marine Corps veteran.

Surviving is a sister, Helen E. Casper of Staten Island.

A funeral will be at 8 p.m. today at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, with the Rev. Eugene J. Weber officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rose L. Smith
Rose Lee Smith, 82, of Culpeper, formerly of Winchester, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Madison County.

Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Hopedale, Ohio, the daughter of John Forrest and Mary Deborah Pierce Winland.

She had been a social services credit manager at Winchester Memorial Hospital and Arlington Hospital and was retired.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

She married Donald F. Smith on June 19, 1938, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Smith died Dec. 6, 1986.

Surviving are two sons, Allen D. Smith of Culpeper and Kenneth H. Garrison of Warrenton; a daughter, Sandra Lee Starr of Sterling; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. William E. Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Robert E. Skinner
Robert Edwin Skinner, 80, of 40253 Braddock Road, Aldie, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Loudoun Hospital Center, Leesburg.

Mr. Skinner was born May 30, 1920, in Aldie, the son of Robert Ish and Virginia Hutchison Skinner. He was the plant controller for Chantilly Crushed Stone.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He married Dorothy Mae Jewel on July 1, 1972, in Pleasant Valley.

Surviving with his wife, are a son, Moffett Skinner of Meredith, N.H.; a sister, Louisa Hutchison of Leesburg; five stepchildren, Harold Rawls of Ranson, W.Va., Gene Rawls of Leesburg, Judy Dawson of Fredericksburg, Janet Austin of Winchester, and Debrah Workman of Middletown; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A private service is planned.

Justin C. Cady
Justin Christopher Cady, 20, of 100 Country Club Circle, Winchester, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Cady was born Nov. 15, 1980, in Summit, N. J., the son of Lyle Edward Cady Jr. and Patricia Voss Cornwell. He was a sophomore at James Madison University and had graduated from Sherando High School in 1999.

He was a member of the Butter House Project Band.

Surviving with his parents, both of Winchester, are a sister, Elisabeth Cady of Winchester; three brothers, Lyle E. Cady III, Mitchell C. Cady, and Roland C. Cady, all of Winchester; his maternal grandfather, Howard D. Voss of Stuart, Fla.; and his paternal grandfather, Lyle E. Cady Sr. of Clifton, N.J.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Song and the Rev. Robert Funck officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Lyle E. Cady III, Paul Gillette, Phillip Whitfield, Elisabeth Cady, and Christine Joerg.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Justin C. Cady Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Sherando High School, 185 S. Warrior Drive, Stephens City 22655.
