Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Mose Stickel
Mose Stickel, 77, of 3952 Harry Byrd Highway, Berryville, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Stickel was born March 31, 1923, in Clarke County, the son of Mose T. and Virgie Tomblin Stickel. He was a correctional officer with the Commonwealth of Virginia and a corporal in the Army during World War II.

He was married to Mamie Ellen Owens, who died April 23, 1992.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, with the Rev. David Garns officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with military honors accorded by the Clarke County Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Gerry Pierce, Roger Pierce, Mike Wood Michael Wood Jr., Robert Wood, and Charles Wood.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 216, Bluemont 20135.

Lois A. Vickery
Lois Albin Vickery, 81, of 500 Walnut St., Momence, Ill., formerly of Stephens City, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, in Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, Ill.

Mrs. Vickery was born July 25, 1919, in Stephens City, the daughter of Ray and Agnes Perry Albin. She had been a cook with Kankakee schools and assembled airplanes during World War II.

She was a member of Aroma Park United Methodist Church.

She married Bingham Vickery on Sept. 14, 1946, in Baltimore.

Surviving are a son, James Vickery of St. Anne, Ill.; three sisters, Grace Harry of Cockeysville, Md., Alice Hall of Prince Frederick, Md., and Eloise Campbell of Woodbridge; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A son, Brian Patrick Vickery, is deceased.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Aroma Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Herb Bollman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hertz-Thoma Chapel, Kankakee.

Marian S. Cooley
Marian Paige “Peggy” Stover Cooley, 76, died December 23, 2000.

She was the daughter of Frank Carson and Mary Virginia Funk Stover.

Mrs. Cooley was a member of the Strasburg Christian Church.

She was married to Charles E. Cooley for 55 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Cela Annette Watson of Gloucester and Cynthia Paige Conine of Kathleen, Ga.; a son, Craig S. Cooley of Richmond; a sister, Madolyn Stover Kitchin; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Strasburg Christian Church. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to Strasburg Christian Church, 165 High St., Strasburg, Va. 22657.

David H. Crawford
David Hilton Crawford, 57, of 529 Manor Hill Drive, Toms Brook, died Friday Dec. 22, 2000, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Crawford was born Aug. 13, 1943, in Washington, D.C., the son of Chester Charles and Florence Fleming Crawford. He was a member of the Toms Brook United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He retired after 30 years as a senior intelligence officer for the Central Intelligence Agency, and was a member of the SIGNA Society.

Surviving with his mother are his wife, Kay Myers Crawford; two daughters, Kelley Kerscher of San Marcos, Calif., and Leslie Gerstenfeld, of Sterling; three sons, Craig Crawford and Scott Crawford, both of San Francisco, Calif., and D. Michael Noe, of Woodbridge; a sister, Esther Walker, of Warrenton; a brother C. Randall Crawford, of Stevensville, Md.; and five grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Keller Cemetery, Toms Brook.

Pallbearers will be coworkers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and will meet there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Ernie R. Kline
Ernie Ray Kline, 2727 Oranda Road, Strasburg, died at his home.

Arrangements with Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, are incomplete.

Jeffrey D. Miller
Jeffrey David Miller, 40, of 6696 Howellsville Road, Front Royal, died Saturday December 23, 2000 at his home.

He was born September 13, 1960, in Alexandria, the son of Ralph E. and Donna Dick Miller. He was a field engineer for Clark Construction Co., Bethesda, Md.

He is survived by his parents, of Falls Church, and a brother, Gregory Miller, of Reston.

Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Arrangements are being handled by Enders and Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.

Tunstall C. Powers
Dr. Tunstall Chenault Powers, 84, of 1253 Long Meadow Road, Middletown, died Saturday Dec. 23, 2000, at Winchester Medical Center.

Arrangements with Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, are incomplete.

Jessie W. Robinson
Jessie Bell Williams Robinson, 93, of 154 Virginia St., Strasburg, died Sunday Dec. 24, 2000 at her home.

Mrs. Robinson ws born July 3, 1907, in Strasburg, a daughter of Archie Ball and Lucy Bell Hall Williams. She was a homemaker, a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church, the Wesley Bible Class, and Spurmont Order of the Eastern Star. She was the wife of Luther E. Robinson.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathlene Robinson Stickley and Betty Robinson Miller, both of Strasburg; a son, James A. Robinson, of South Hill; a foster son, Darrell Bible, of Fishers Hill; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Biler officiating. Burial will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Denny Stickley, Dion Stickley, Mike Kline, Chris Bible, Dana Bible, Jimmy Robinson, and Jimmy Ferguson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Stover Funeral Home and will meet at 1 pm. Thursday at the home of Betty R. Miller, 273 Walton St., Strasburg.

Danny B. Stone
Danny B. Stone, 44, of 6930 Lord Fairfax Highway, Berryville, died Sunday Dec. 24, 2000, at Northern Virginia Hospice.

Mr. Stone was born Oct. 16, 1956, in Rowan County, N.C., the son of Edward and Peggy Morris Stone.

He was a customer service representative for United Airlines at Dulles International Airport.

In addition to his father and step-mother Delia Conrad Stone, he is survived by two brothers, Eddie Stone, of Faith, N.C., and Mark Stone, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and two sisters, Maria Stone, of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Ann Benfield, of Alexandria.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Enders and Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville with Denise Cabana officiating. Graveside rites will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury, N.C.

Walter F. Perry
Walter “Bob” Francis Perry, 64, of Augusta, W.Va., died Dec. 23, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Perry was born April 17, 1936, in Cokeyard, Md., the son of Walter Hugh Perry and Edith Leona Kiddy. He was retired from Crown, Cork and Seal. He was a member of the Augusta United Methodist Church and Mill Creek Country Club.

He was married to Barbara Ann Perry, who died Sept. 30, 1991.

He is survived by Donna Iser, of Augusta, W.Va.; a stepson, Andrew Custer, of Inwood, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Ann Custer, of Scherr, W.Va.; a sister, Karen L. Bennett of Cresaptown, Md.; two brothers, Kenneth W. Perry of Mathews, N.C., and Richard H. Perry of Manassas, Va., and Cokeyard, Md.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Augusta United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Davis officiating. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Allen Judy, John Hott, Shawn Kidwell, Jason Judy, Billy Judy, and John Harden.

Arrangements are being handled by the McKee Funeral Home in Augusta, W.Va.

Barbara J. Lupton
Barbara Jean Lupton, 56, 748 South Ox Road, Edinburg, died Sunday Dec. 24, 2000, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Lupton was born Sept. 10, 1944, in Hampshire County, W.Va., the daughter of Dorsey Offittee and Pearl Leoria Crousa Lupton.

She was a nurse and a member of the New Market Eagles and Charles Town Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her father, of Frederick County; two daughters, Lana Lear of Toms Brook and Leoria Pence of Edinburg; two sons, Larry V. Kline II of Virginia Beach, and William E. Kline, of Strasburg; three sisters, Patsy A. Strother, Carol L. Bauserman, and Willmarie V. Franklin, all of Stephens City; 11 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Enders and Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Stephens City with Pastor John Swope officiating. She will be buried icon in the Macedonia Church Cemetery in Frederick County.

Pallbearers will be Dan Lear, Manny Sainz, Ronnie Franklin, Dan Richards, Nathan Pence, and Sonny McAboy.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary R. Overholtz
Mary Ruth Overholtz, 78, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Friday Dec. 22, 2000, in City Hospital.

Mrs. Overholtz was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Berkeley County, W.Va., the daughter of Aden Walker and Edna Lee Braithwaite Lamp. She was a clerk at Patterson’s Drug Store.

She is survived by two sons, Donald L. Overholtz, of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Ronald W. Overholtz, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Helen Maxine Vorous of Berryville, Meta Olivia Lloyd and Jane M. Lamp, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a granddaughter, and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Carl W. Lee
Carl Walton Lee, 62, of Delray, W.Va., died Saturday Dec. 23, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Lee was born July 10, 1938, in Rio, W.Va., the son of Melvin Eugene and Fannie Belle Rudy Lee. He was a heavy equipment operation in construction and a Marine Corps. veteran. He was a member of the Delray Church of Christ and American Legion Post 91 in Romney, W.Va.

He is survived by a daughter, Reta Fansler of Mathias, W.Va.; three sisters, Ruby Hall, Polly Lee, and Libby Lee, all of Delray, W.Va.; a brother, Dwight Lee of Delray, W.Va.; and two granddaughters.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Delray Church of Christ, Delray, W.Va., with Ansel Peer and Eric Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Green Lane Cemetery, Delray, W. Va.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee, Jamie Lee, Gerald Davis, Kent Orndorff, Lloyd Rudy, and Greg Rinker.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va.

Kevin B. Callahan
Kevin Bryan Callahan, 42, of Portsmouth, formerly of Front Royal, died Saturday Dec. 23, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Callahan was born June 20, 1958, in Portsmouth, a son of Charles Francis and Elizabeth Joan Anderson Callahan.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Chuck Callahan of Chesapeake and Chip Callahan of Boone, N.C.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Turner-Robertshaw Chapel with Rev. Sid Steward officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
