Sonjia W. Gentile
Sonjia Wenrich Gentile, 57, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Gentile was born Aug. 23, 1943, in Bowling Green, the daughter of Willard Rogers Wenrich and Sophia Kulynych Wenrich. She had been a specialty clerk with General Motors in Martinsburg, W.Va., and served one tour of duty with the Air National Guard at Ft. Eustis.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Delectable Mountain Quilting Guild, both in Berkeley Springs.

She was married to Joseph Paul Gentile.

Surviving with her husband, and her father, of Woodford, are three brothers, Willard R. Wenrich Jr. and Nathan Wenrich, both of Bowling Green, and Mark Wenrich of Richmond; eight sisters, Joyce Phipps of Woodford, Janet Wenrich of Tampa, Fla., Barbara Kreuter of Midlothian, Catherine Venable of Port Haywood, Sharon Wenrich and Susan Wenrich, both of Richmond, Carolyn Wenrich of Bowling Green, and Grace Wenrich of Orange Park, Fla.

A funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Andrew Cooney officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bowling Green.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.

Austin D. Kelley
Austin Daniel Kelley, infant son of Michelle Dawn Fischer and Timothy Daniel Kelley, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

Surviving with his parents, are his maternal grandparents, Stephen Wayne and Debra Kay Miller Fischer of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; her paternal grandparents, Daniel Milton and Julia Juanita Smith Kelley of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; his maternal great-grandmothers, Louise Fischer of Great Cacapon and Frances Miller of Martinsburg, W.Va.; his paternal great-grandmothers, Mary Ellen Kelley-Bohrer and Agnes Louise Smith, both of Berkeley Springs.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Great Cacapon Cemetery, with Pastor Rodney Truax officiating.

Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, is handling arrangements.

Archiebelle Linton
Archiebelle “Belle” Linton, 87, of Manassas, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Prince William Hospital, Manassas.

Mrs. Linton was a member of Berryville United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.

She was married to Alva W. Linton for 29 years. Her first husband, Lucian C. Grim, died in 1964.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Martin C. Grim of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Richard L. Grim of Cross Junction; a sister, Emma Lee Rickard of Berryville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Price Funeral Home, Manassas. Burial will be in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Hilda B. Poteete
Hilda B. Poteete, 65, of Delray, W.Va., died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Arrangements with Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, W.Va., are incomplete.

Edward J. Sargent
Edward J. Sargent, 77, of Cluseret Court, Winchester, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Sargent was born May 30, 1923, in Baltimore, the son of Dewey and Nora Sullivan Sargent. He worked as a night watchman for National Fruit Product Co. and retired in 1989.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and participated in the Tunisian and Sicilian campaigns. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Medal, two Bronze Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the AARP. He was a former member of VFW Post 2123.

He married Zenith Shipe on March 18, 1946, in Winchester.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Julia A. Smith of Winchester; a sister, Gertrude Shelly of Winchester; two brothers, John S. Sargent Sr. and William J. Sargent of Frederick County; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

A private graveside service is planned for Thursday.

Friends may call anytime Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home.

Boyd N. Cook
Boyd Nathaniel Cook, 75, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Winchester, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, in River View Care Center, Baltimore.

Mr. Cook was born July 18, 1925, in Winchester, the son of John Henderson Cook and Esther Davis Cook. He served in the Marines during World War II.

He was married to Mary Louise Carter.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mary C. Jones of Baltimore; two sons, Michael N. Cook and Boyd Phillip Cook, both of Washington; two sisters, Mary C. Cross and Lorraine C. Reed, both of Winchester; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and an adopted grandson.

A daughter, Bonnie Lou Cook, is deceased.

A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Cartwright Funeral Home, with Pastor Gilbert M. Mack Jr. officiating. Inurnment will be in Orrick Cemetery, Winchester.

Memorials may be made to the Rev. Mavis May, Macedonia Baptist Church, 718 W. Lafayette St., Baltimore, Md. 21201; or to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 423 S. Braddock St., Winchester 22601.

Ruth M. Washington
Ruth M. Washington, 68, of 705 Watson Ave., Winchester, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, in Rose Hill Nursing Home, Berryville.

Mrs. Washington was born June 30, 1932, in Winchester, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Davenport Payton. She was a member and deaconess of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in Winchester. She was a member of the Daughters of God and the District Choir.

She was married to Frisco Washington.

Surviving are four daughters, Mary Washington, Faye Washington, and Brenda Johnson, all of Winchester, and Joann Cain of Gore; two sons, Steve Washington of Winchester and Christopher Washington of Olathe, Kan.; a sister, Lucy Christian of Stephens City; three brothers, Walter Payton of Texas, Lee Roberts of California, and Walter Roberts of New York; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, with Adv. Pr. Elder Clarence Miller officiating. Burial will be in Orrick Cemetery, Winchester.

Pallbearers will be members of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cartwright Funeral Home.

Grace S. Brown
Grace Elizabeth Senseney Brown, 82, of 582 E. King St., Strasburg, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Brown was born Aug. 7, 1918, in the Clary community of Shenandoah County, the daughter of George Edward and Laura Virginia Frye Senseney. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

She was married to Billy Ernest Brown.

Surviving with her husband are a son, Jack Himelright of Strasburg; a daughter, Sherry L. Artz of Strasburg; three sisters, Elva Bauserman of Toms Brook, Ruth Smith of Baltimore, and Nancy Boyd of Buckton; a brother, Fred Senseney of Strasburg; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. Gordon C. Bayles officiating. Burial will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Bauserman, Clark Bauserman, Martin Bauserman Jr., Harry Bruce Rinker Jr., Kenneth Rinker, and Jacob Rinker.

Claude J. Crockett
Claude Jennings Crockett, 78, of Augusta, W.Va., died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney, W.Va.

Mr. Crockett was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Virginia, the son of George and Martha Garrett Crockett. He was a barber and a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Protestant faith.

His wife, Anna Frances Crockett, died in 1989.

Surviving are four daughters, Sandra Tucker of Orange, Mass., Cheryl D. Birch of Pease, Wash., Irene Dulaney of Augusta, and JoAnn Clatterbuck of Baltimore; a stepdaughter, Delphina Miller of Augusta; and two sons, Claude A. Crockett of Romney and Davy Crockett of Tennessee.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today in Augusta Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Jeffreys officiating.

McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, is handling arrangements.

Ed J. Sargent
Ed J. Sargent, 77, of Cluserete Court, Winchester, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Arrangements with Jones Funeral Home are incomplete.

Isabell S. Ford
Isabell Sloane Ford, 83, of Front Royal, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.

Mrs. Ford was born July 27, 1917, in Warren County, the daughter of Edlue and Emma Burell Sloane. She was a homemaker and a member of Success Baptist Church.

She was married to Benjamin Ford, who died in 1969.

Surviving are three sons, Lewis Ford and Irvin Ford, both of Front Royal, and William Ford of Winchester; two daughters, Gertrude Ford of Front Royal and Hattie Ford of Herndon; 28 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal, with the Rev. William Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Genevieve K. Parker
Genevieve Kathryn Hickman Parker, 80, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at her home in Oakland Hills.

Mrs. Parker was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Drumright, Okla., the daughter of Frank Robert and Ruth Virginia LeFevre Hickman. She had retired from the customer service department of Sears at Landmark Center in Alexandria and then worked in customer service at Colony House Furniture in Arlington.

She was a 1938 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, Okla., and attended Oklahoma A&M College and the University of Arkansas.

She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She was a member of AARP, the Southern Belle Homemakers Club, the Women’s Auxiliary of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, and the Wednesday Bridge Group at Coolfont, all in Berkeley Springs.

She was married to Norbert Allen Parker for 56 years. Mr. Parker died Dec. 15, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacquelyn S. Propst and K. Brooke Parker, both of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Frank Robert Hickman Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; and a grandson.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. Michael W. Bennett officiating. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to the Morgan County Public Library, 204 N. Washington St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. 25411.

Lois K. Beeler
Lois Keller Beeler, 88, of 497 Clary Road, Strasburg, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.

Mrs. Beeler was born Dec. 22, 1912, in Lebanon Church, the daughter of Harvey and Mattie Miller Keller. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Springs Christian Church and the AARP. She attended Shiloh United Methodist Church.

She was married to Burrell Welsley Beeler.

Surviving are three daughters, Peggy Ritenour of Broad Run, Kitty Judy of Stephens City, and Linda King of Strasburg; a son, Robert Beeler of Strasburg; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. Wendell M. Schurtz Jr. and the Rev. Gordon C. Bayles officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Steward Jr., Jeffrey King, Brian Judy, Gary Grant, Jarius Grant, and Steve Rinker.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Anna C. Kirby
Anna Compton Kirby, 88, of Chalmers Court, Berryville, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Kirby was born Aug. 15, 1912, in Front Royal, the daughter of Aylette Newton Compton and Annebelle Sheetz Compton. She had been a secretary at Blandy Farm.

She was a member of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church, the Front Royal Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Boxwood Society, Friends of Blandy, the Warren Heritage Society, FISH of Clarke County, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

She was married to Andrew Carnegie Kirby, who died Sept. 13, 1995.

Surviving are two daughters, Abigail Newlin of Berryville and Patricia Cunningham of Springfield; two sons, Michael A. Kirby of Berryville and George A. Kirby of Stephenson; two sisters, Lucy Kephart and Gertrude Brown, both of Front Royal; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with the Rev. Harvey Warnick officiating. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church.
