Charles R. Arbogast
Charles Russell Arbogast, 72, of Purcellville died Sept. 23, 2000, at his home.

Born Dec. 9, 1927, in Erwin, W. Va., he was the son of Isaac and Ardie Arbogast.

He married Daphene Louise Arbogast.

He worked as a farm manager in Loudoun County. He was a member of the VFW Post 4468 and the Philomont Fire Department.

Survivors include four daughters, Judy A. Fisher of Leesburg, Bonnie A. Keaveny of Charles Town, W. Va., Sandra A. Muncy of Purcellville, and Terry A. Gordon of Spring Hill, Fla.; three brothers, Loraine Dale Arbogast of Berryville, Ivan L. Arbogast of Hamilton, and Ercil J. Arbogast of Warrenton; five sisters, Ruby M. Andrews and Naomi R. Carpenter, both of West Virginia, Virginia A. Linebury of Winchester, Katherine Shaffer of Maryland, and Donna J. Arbogast of Georgia; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville.

Friends may call at Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville from 7 to 9 tonight.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northern Virginia, 6565 Arlington Blvd., Suite 500, Falls Church, Va. 22042.

David P. Doyle
David Paul Doyle, infant son of Mark and Dee Brown Doyle, of 306 Tanager Drive, Stephens City, died Sunday Sept. 24, 2000, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Surviving with his parents are his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Shirley Doyle of Everett, Pa. ; maternal grandmother, JoAnne Chambers of Winchester; a twin brother, Daniel Doyle at home; and a step-sister, Bethany Doyle, and a step-brother, Andrew Doyle, both of Cumberland, Md.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Orrick Cemetery in Winchester with the Rev. Mark Carey officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Winchester Medical Center, 1840 Amherst St., Winchester, Va. 22601.

James Jacobs
James “JJ” Jacobs, 39, of Augusta, W. Va. died Sunday Sept. 24, 2000, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney, W. Va.

Arrangements with the Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge, W. Va., are incomplete.

Evelyn Lopes
Evelyn Lopes, 76, of Falmouth, Mass. died Sat. Sept. 23, 2000 in Warren Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Wareham, Mass. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Lena Susza Antone. She was married to Manuel P. Lopes.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce E. Wilkins of Front Royal.

A funeral will be Wednesday at Chapman, Cole, and Gleason Funeral Home in Falmouth with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Falmouth.

Turner-Robertshaw of Front Royal handled local arrangements.

Odessa E. Martin
Odessa Elizabeth Martin, 62, of 901 Sulfur Spring Rd., died Friday Sept. 22, 2000, in the Winchester Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Winchester. She was a member of Stines Chapel Church.

She married Chester R. Martin Jr. Sept. 13, 1954, in Winchester.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Roy K. Martin and Steve A. Martin, both of Winchester; three daughters, Crystal M. Barton and Lidean R. Mitchell, both of Winchester, and Wilma V. Dillow of Stephens City; three sisters, Freda M. Ferrell of Freeburn, Ky., Barbara A. Moore of Monrovia, Md., and Carol Lee Shrewbury of Maryland; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rosedale Baptist Church in Winchester with Dr. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will be in Grange Hill Cemetery in Frederick County.

Pallbearers will be Steve Barton, Jason Sine, Brian Thomas, Dave Gnegy, Boyd Spicer, and Ray Arnold.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge, W. Va.

Christina R. Monceaux
Christina Reneé Monceaux, 30, of Paris, Texas, died Aug. 23, 2000, in Baylor Medical Center, Dallas, of Acute Lymphatic Leukemia.

Ms. Monceaux was born April 7, 1970, in Duncan, Okla., the daughter of Willie Monceaux and Deborah Lynch Bell.

She worked as a microfilm processor with ImageMax in Dallas.

She had attended Frederick and Clarke County schools.

Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Deborah and James Bell, of Berryville; her father and stepmother, Willie and Kelly Monceaux, of Port Arthur, Texas; a son, William Jacob L. Harris of Berryville; a daughter, Antonia Elizabeth Suarez of Berryville; five brothers, Willie Monceaux Jr. of Sulphur, La., Patrick Bell and Shawn Bell, both of Berryville, and Joshua Monceaux and Jacob Monceaux, both of Port Arthur; two sisters, Brandie Shepard of Stephenson and Kaitlyn Monceaux of Port Arthur; and her paternal grandmother, Mary Helen Monceaux of Sulphur.

A funeral was Aug. 26 at Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan, with Darrell Edwards officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Duncan.

Memorials may be made to the Midway Federal Credit Union for her children, Jacob and Elizabeth, P.O. Box 232, Berryville 22611.

Blake E. Roksandich
Blake Eli Roksandich, infant son of Faith Renae Nealis and David E. Roksandich, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was born Sept. 4, 2000, in Winchester.

Survivors including his parents are his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Judy Nealis of Romney, W. Va. ; and his paternal grandparents, Eli and Karen Roksandich of Capon Bridge, W.Va.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today at the Tearcoat Cemetery in Augusta, W. Va., with Rev. Ansel Peer officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge.

Alfred W. Smith
Alfred Walker Smith, 33, of 1301 Jefferson St. Portsmouth died Sept. 21, 2000.

He was born April 29, 1967, in Manassas, the son of Randolph and Beaulah Salyers Smith.

He was an evangelist with New Beginnings Christian Church in Portsmouth.

Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Doris A. Brennan of Berryville and Mary Lee Smith of New Castle; and two brothers, Jessie Smith of Mechanicsville and Frank Smith of Waynesboro.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sarah Grant officiating.

Jerry W. Estes
Jerry Wallace Estes, 46, of Front Royal, died Saturday Sept. 23, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 5, 1953, to Wallace Henry and Rosana Marie Foster Estes.

He married Maureen Giles Feb. 13, 1982.

He was a graduate of Warren County High School and was a color formulator for Riverton Lime and Stone Corporation.

Survivors in addition to his mother and wife include twin daughters, Leslie K. Estes and Heather P. Estes both at home; and a sister, Sandra K. Hurd of Front Royal.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rivermont Baptist Church in Front Royal with the Rev. L. J. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Bennetts Chapel Cemetery in Front Royal.

Pallbearers will be Mark Merchant, John Paul Sealock, John Gentry, Jessie Clare, Daniel Shifflett, and Troy Robinson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home.

James E. Watkins
James Edward Watkins Sr., 60, of 105 Lakeside Drive, Cross Junction, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000 in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was born Jan. 4, 1940, in Daisy, Ky., the son of John William and Pauline Ison Watkins.

He was an industrial engineer for Perry Engineering of Winchester. He had a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Baltimore University.

He married Arlene Timbrook in June of 1988 in Cross Junction.

Survivors including his wife are four sons, James E. Watkins Jr. of Stephens City, Gregory A. Watkins and Douglas E. Watkins, both of Winchester, and Mathew B. Kreuger of Columbia, Md.; two daughters, Holly Krueger Combs and April Krueger Cottrill, both of Winchester; two sisters, Carolyn Watkins Magruder of Augusta, Ga., and Judith Watkins King of Charlottesville; a brother, John W. Watkins II of Glen Garden, N. J.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Omps Funeral Home Amherst Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Wadsworth officiating. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2584 Valley Ave., Suite B, Winchester, Va. 22601.

Viola F. Funk
Viola Florence Funk, 96, of 453 N. Massanutten St., Strasburg, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Funk was born Sept. 28, 1903, in Mt. Jackson, the daughter of George E. and Virginia Beahm Wymer. She was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church.

She was married to Raymond Charles Funk.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lee Blakely of Strasburg; a sister, May W. Himelright of Strasburg; and a granddaughter.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. Brenda Biler officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg.

Pallbearers will be Charles Himelright, Michael Himelright, Ike Himelright, Danny Wymer, Todd Himelright, Wade Himelright, Michael Chimento, and Brandon Copeland.

Memorials may be made to Strasburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 105, Strasburg 22657.

Linda L. Rodriguez
Linda Lee Rodriguez, 40, of 516 Darrview St., Winchester, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Rodriguez was born Nov. 19, 1959, in Fort Dix, N.J., the daughter of Arthur George and Gloria Ann Griffin Newbery.

She was a computer graphic artist with Skerikon Corp. in Frederick, Md.

She was a graduate of Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany, and a member of the Frankfurt American High School Alumni Association.

She was a member of First Assembly of God of Winchester and the church choir.

She married Angel A. Rodriguez on Jan. 6, 1979, at Ft. Belvoir.

Surviving with her husband, and her mother, of Winchester, are four sons, Gabriel A. Rodriguez, Michael A. Rodriguez, Angel A. Rodriguez III, and Daniel Joseph Rodriguez, all of Winchester; and four sisters, Theresa Lynn Newbery and Mary Beth Hubert, both of Falls Church, Barbara Jean Newbery of Winchester, and Jacqueline Anne Newbery of Manassas.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Hickey officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Jean E. Corbin
Jean Elizabeth Cather Corbin, 71, of 2001 Cherokee Road, Waynesboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Corbin was born April 19, 1929, in Winchester, the daughter of Joseph R. and Catherine Grim Cather.

She retired in 1996 from Jefferson National Bank after 12 years.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose and Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlottesville. She was an active participant of Fishersville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her stepmother, Lorraine Yost Cather of Winchester; two daughters, Mary C. Thomas of Waynesboro and Charlene C. Nargi of Medina, Ohio; two sisters, Catherine Ann Barath of Diamond Bar, Calif., and Beverly Jane Cather of Winchester; a brother, John Calvin Cather of Highland Village, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Two daughters, Ingrid Elaine and Cheryl Lorraine Corbin, are deceased.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Fishersville United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Harris officiating.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, P. O. Box 215, Fishersville 22939 or to Fishersville United Methodist Church, Fellowship of the Carpenter, P.O. Box 1049, Fishersville.

Harold E. Barrett
Harold Ellsworth Barrett, 86, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Winchester, died Sept. 8, 2000.

Mr. Barrett was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Winchester, the son of Frank L. and Effie Miller Barrett.

He was a civilian aircraft inspector at McClellan Air Force Base for 32 years.

He was a 1934 graduate of Handley High School.

He was a Navy veteran and served in the VS2 Squadron aboard the Lexington. While in the Navy, he graduated from two aviation schools.

He was a Mason and a member of Washington Lodge for 54 years and a recipient of the Hiram Award.

He was married to Ruth Menzel.

Surviving are three daughters, Donnie Dunham of Kennewick, Wash., Susan Hunt of Gardnerville, Nev., and Peggy Barrett of Santa Monica, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

A private service is planned for a later date.

North Sacramento Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Carl W. Davis
Carl Warren Davis, 37, of Dumfries, formerly of Winchester, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Potomac Hospital.

Mr. Davis was vice president and chief operating officer of IceWeb Inc. in Chantilly.

He was an Army veteran.

He was engaged to marry Merigeane Snead of Dumfries.

Surviving are his father, LeRoy F. Davis of Boyle, Miss. ; his mother, Gloria Davis of Boyle; a daughter, Michele C. Davis of Winchester; and two brothers, Victor Davis of Burke and LeRoy Davis Jr. of Atlanta.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mountcastle Funeral Home, Dale City. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lorene B. LeMarr
Lorene Bucher LeMarr, 87, of 132 Larrick Lane, Middletown, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. LeMarr was born July 19, 1913, in the Mine Bank community of Middletown, the daughter of Wade and Lilly Mae Baker Bucher.

She was retired from National Fruit Product Co.

She was a member of Hites Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was married to Donald Otto LeMarr.

Surviving are two daughters, Bernadette L. Carter and Alida LeMarr O’Neal, both of Winchester; three sons, Donald Leroy LeMarr of Stephens City, John D. LeMarr of Winchester, and Robert W. LeMarr of Middletown; a stepson, Earl J. LeMarr of Winchester; a stepdaughter, Cleo Russell LeMarr of Berryville; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. Robert C. Blinn officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middletown.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles W. Ruckman
Charles Wright Ruckman, 77, of Mathias, W.Va., died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Ruckman was born July 9, 1923, in Rock Oak, W.Va., the son of James L. and Florence Mae Reynolds Ruckman.

He was an auto mechanic and a member of Mt. View Church of the Brethren in Lost City, W.Va.

He was married to Hazel Pauline Frances Walters, who died Oct. 6. 1982.

Surviving are five sons, Edward E. Ruckman of Raleigh, N.C., James W. Ruckman of Triangle, Andy L. Ruckman of Great Mills, Md., Paul Ruckman of Burke, and Jon C. Nicholas of Lumberton, Texas; three daughters, Linda A. Nicholas of New Hampshire, Vickey J. Sine of Strasburg, Brenda I. Sullivan of Brunswick, Maine; two sisters, Nancy Combs of Baker and Armeda Wine of Hamilton; a brother, Willard Ruckman of Charlottesville; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at McKee Funeral Home, Baker, with the Rev. Olin Bailey and the Rev. Landis Dove officiating. Burial will be in Rock Oak Cemetery, Baker.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Isabel R. Butler
Isabel Rutherford Butler, 85, of Front Royal died Sept. 19, 2000, in Clearview Manor in Bentonville.

Mrs. Butler was born Nov. 12, 1914 in Rappahannock County, a daughter of Keiffer and Mollie Mills Rutherford. After the death of her parents in 1918, she lived with her aunt and uncle, Richard and Lucy Mills.

She worked at the Schwarzenbach-Huber Company and retired from the Hy-Wy Restaurant, where she worked as a cook for 10 years.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dennis Bryant Butler.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene K. Strother of Front Royal; a nephew, Kenneth L. Campbell of Laurel, Md., who made his home with Mrs. Butler; a sister, Pauline R. Keatts of Front Royal; and a grandson.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Prospect Hill Cemetery with Pastor Theresa Hoffman officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Maddox Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, Ill., 60611-1676. Designation should read “research.”
