Wolfe
Willie Mae Haga Wolfe, 80, of Crockett died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Wythe County. She was a member of the Club 55 Bowling League in Marion.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Argle Haga; her second husband, Robert Wolfe; her parents, Lonnie Emmett and Hallie Flanagan Hall; and three brothers, James Stephen Hall, Carl Conard Hall and Wade McKinley Hall.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Hall Earwood of Crockett, and Eva Hall Hartman of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Emmett Lee "Sonny" Hall of Elliston and Worley Lawrence Hall of Salem; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, March 29, 2005, at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Retreat. The Rev. Doug Stuart and the Rev. Bill Davis officiated the ceremony. Interment was in the King's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Services. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat was in charge of arrangements.

Jonas Cook
Mr. Jonas Dwayne Cook, age 41, died Friday, March 25, 2005 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle/ vehicle accident.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Cook, Abingdon;, a son, Travis Cook, Radford; step-sons, Chad Helbert, Aaron Griffith and Austin Griffith all of Abingdon; his parents, J. C. and Barbara Cook, Abingdon;, a brother, Rodney Cook, Abingdon; a sister, Peggy Harris, Asheboro, N.C.
The funeral service was conducted Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Service, Main Street Chapel with Rev. Ancil Childress officiating.
Interment followed in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Waine Morris, William Mercer, Eddie Mitchell, Steve Shortridge, Randall Fuller, Mark Bartley, Bo Arnold.
Honorary pallbearers were Dale Breeding, Gary Wayne Rowe, Don Mitchell, Tim Dye, Roger Harris, Willis Bartley.

Clifford Davis
Mr. Clifford Junior "Kip" Davis, age 50, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was originally from Dickenson County and had lived in Abingdon since 1975. "Kip" worked with the girls ASA softball teams as a manager. He loved working with the girl’s softball team.
He was a member of the Macedonia Church of Christ and was retired as a self-employed heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clifford Davis and a sister, Linda Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Bailey Davis, daughters; Selena Collins and husband, Michael, Abingdon, Katrina Davis of the home and future son-in-law, Michael Lewis; his mother, Arbutus Davis, Abingdon; a brother, Greg Davis and wife, Tammy, Abingdon; grandsons Cody Collins and Caleb Collins, several nieces and nephews, former wife, Diana Reed, and former mother-in-law, Janice Puckett both of Meadowview.
The funeral service was conducted Monday, March 28, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Service Main Street Chapel with Evangelist Michael S. McCoy officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin Collins, Allen Collins, David Meade, Jr., Chris Reynolds, Matthew Meade, Mike Forrester. Honorary pallbearers were David Meade, Sr., Joe Foster, Daniel Meade, Dennis Hoss, Jim Smiley, and the men of Macedonia Church of Christ.
Entombment was Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 1 p.m. in Temple Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum, Castlewood.

Carrie Henderson
May 24, 1916 - March 23, 2005
Mrs. Carrie McCray Henderson, age 88, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at her home.
Born on May 24, 1916 in the Plasterco Community of Smyth County, Carrie was a daughter of the late Charlie McCray and Cara Boardwine McCray. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harold Woodward. Carrie had attended the Gospel Tabernacle Church before her illness. She was a co-owner of the Food Country USA Grocery Stores.
She is survived by a son, Charles W. Henderson and wife, Brenda, of Abingdon; two brothers, Ralph McCray and wife Lorene and Oscar Monda McCray and wife Reba all of Saltville; five grandchildren, Don W. Henderson, Debbie Henderson Creasy, Jill Woodward Fleenor, Joan Woodward Brake and John W. Woodward. Ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service was conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2005 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. James Beaver officiating. A graveside interment and committal service was be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon. Casket bearers were Donald McCray, Fred Surber, John Woodward, Don Henderson, Gary McCray, Brannson McCray and Billie Joe McCray. Honorary casket bearers were Joseph P. Johnson, Jr., Michael R. McCray, Rev. James Beaver, W. B. Henderson, Jr., Janice Eldreth, Tom. M. Hicok, Dr. Robert Walker and staff and all employees of Food Country USA Grocery Stores. Mary Virginia Jackson
September 3, 1956 - March 27, 2005
Mary Virginia Jackson, age 48, beloved mother and wife, died Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Born on September 3, 1956, Mary was a daughter of the late Gon and Anna Mae Sullins. She was a resident of the Tumbling Creek Community of Saltville. Mary was a certified nursing assistant and for years was employed as a caregiver to elderly and disabled people. She was a very generous and caring person and will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Jeff Jackson, of the Tumbling Creek community; a son, Mathew Campbell of Amherst, Mass.; a daughter, Tina Campbell of Atlanta, Ga.; a granddaughter, Sydney Jones of Abingdon; brothers, Buck Sullins and Darryl Sullins of Bald Knob, Ark., and Mike Sullins of Galde Spring; three sisters, Linda Jean Statzer of Lebanon, Shirley Strickland of North Carolina and Nancy Losey of Florida; special friends, Linda Pendleton, Kim Norris, Pat Smith and Willie Bordwine.
A memorial service was conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers, Jr. officiating.
In place of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Welmont Hospice House, 208 Steele’s Road, Bristol, TN 37620. Blanche "Mom" Pippin
Blanche "Mom" Pippin, 93, of Bristol, Va., passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Walnut Springs Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Pippin; two daughters, Helen Deggs, and Betty Counts; and an infant son, William J. Pippin. Survivors include two sons, James Pippin of Cayce, S.C., and Louis Pippin of Bristol, Va.; one daughter, Ruth Haselden of Hahira, Ga.; one sister, Frances Newman; grandchildren Susie Pippin, Bonney Swanson, Billy Kelly, Wayne Gillenwater, and Sherry Leal; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 11a.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, with the Revs. Walter Statzer and Roger Hearl officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bill Gross, Mike Winters, Thomas Roberts, Isaac Roberts, Ralph Newman, and Earl Newman. Ruby A. Raper
Ruby A. Raper, 81, of Meadowview, formerly of Arizona, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Raper. Survivors include her daughter, Julia West and her husband Vernon of Abingdon; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Interment will be private. Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA is serving the Raper family.

Patty Finley Winebarger
Patty Finley Winebarger, age 63, of Damascus, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eula Owens Finley. She was a member of the Damascus Church of Christ and was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Finley and Howard Finley, and one great grandson, Timmy Widener.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Winebarger, of Oak Harbor, Ohio; one daughter, Patricia Wise, of Kingsport, Tenn.; three sisters, Peggy Harris, of Salisbury, N.C., Betty Repass, of Hermitage, Tenn., and Dorothy Lipman, of Bluefield, W.Va.; one brother, Thomas B. Finley, Jr., of Damascus; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, in the Damascus Church of Christ with Mr. Bill Reece, minister, officiating. The committal service and interment followed at Mock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, 2601 Willard Road, Suite 103, Richmond, VA 23294. Brooks
Jenny Lynn Kiser Brooks, 54, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at her home in Chilhowie.
She was born in Virginia to the late Durwood and Louise Naron Kiser.
She was a 1969 graduate of Abingdon High School and attended Radford University. She had worked at Shoney's in Abingdon and at the Martha Washington Inn.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Brooks-Pruitt of Abingdon; three sisters, Fran Fortner, Donna Goodpasture and Deborah Keen, all of Abingdon; two grandchildren, Jayson Brooks and Briana Pruitt; several nieces and one nephew; and a special friend, Mr. Bob Armstrong.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., New York, N.Y. 10017.

Cornett
Archie Ralph Cornett of Sugar Grove, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
He was born August 7, 1927, in Bridle Creek to Hurley Cicero and Virginia Vaught Cornett.
He was retired from Frito Lay Inc. and worked for District Three Senior Services after retirement. He was a WW II Naval veteran and was a member of the VFW Post 4667 in Marion. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was a charter member of the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father and Pappy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Winton Cornett and two sisters, Janet Virginia Brown and Ellen Lucille Cornett.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Cristella Woods Cornett; son and fianc?e, David M. Cornett and Mary F. Arthur of Carlisle, Pa.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia C. and Gerald A. Bates of Albemarle, N.C. and Lynn C. Ross and fianc?, Robert J. Waller of Danville; brother, Billie C. Cornette of Marion; two sisters, Louise C. Watkins of Ridgeville, Ind. and Pat C. Hamm of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a half brother, Gayle Billings of Kingsville, Md.; grandson, YN2(SW) Joshua Matthew Ross; two granddaughters, Angela Dawn Sexton Alejo and Megan Lee Cornett; two great-granddaughters, Ana Gabriel Alejo and Madelyn Nicole Ross; great-grandson, Joshua Matthew Ross, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Price and the Rev. Kenny Conner officiating. Interment followed in Slemp Cemetery with full military honors being rendered by the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Slemp Cemetery Fund, 5073 Longview Lane, Sugar Grove, Va. 24375. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.

Grubb
Lucille Tarter Grubb, 88, of Crockett, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Asbury Place at Wytheville.
She was born April 4, 1916, in Wythe County. She was a member of the Calvary Full Gospel Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Woodrow "Tom" Grubb; her parents, Lacy M. and Georgia Lambert Tarter; two sons, Douglas Randolph Grubb and James Richard Grubb; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Byron E. Grubb of Asbury Place at Wytheville, and Wayne and Shirley Grubb of Crockett; three brothers, James Tarter of Lima, Ohio, Clayton Tarter of Winnemucca, Nev., and Randolph Tarter of Benton City, Wash.; six grandchildren and spouses, Bobby and Lynda Grubb, Johnny and Pam Grubb, Wesley Grubb, Ronnie and Sara Grubb, Bonnie Jean Smith, and Gina and Randy Lyall; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Retreat with the Rev. Doug Stuart and the Rev. Dan Moore officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rural Retreat.
The family suggests that those who prefer, may make memorials to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Services.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 24, 2005, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home or at the residence of her son Wayne Grubb at any time.

Hall
John H. Hall, 78, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in the Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was born in Sugar Grove to the late Wesley and Alice Parks Hall and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Hall; one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy Lee and Judy Hall of Groseclose; two granddaughters, Tammy Alexander and husband, Carol of Marion and Krystal Lea Rose and husband, Dennis of Rural Retreat; one great-grandson, Brandon Alexander; two daughters, Lola Mae Rich and Bertha Irene Hall; two step daughters; three step sons; two sisters, Hazel Rich of Sugar Grove and Ethel Richardson of Bel Air, Md.; and one special nephew, Scott Hensley of Saltville.
At the request of Mr. Hall, all funeral services will be private.
