Money
Reuben "Rudy" Money, 86, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
He was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Elkton, Md., to the late Wallace and Roseline Goddard Money.
He was an avid fisherman, who loved the outdoors and everything associated with trees. He was also a compassionate and loving friend and father to all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruth L. Money, the mother of Richard and Nancy; a granddaughter, Dana; and four brothers.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Judson Williams of Richmond; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marla Money of Chilhowie; one step-son, Kevin Jameson of Chadds Ford, Pa.; two sisters, Lea Morgan of Ocala, Fla. and Etta Barber of Wilmington, Del.; one brother, Stanley Money of Millbrook, N.Y.; one granddaughter, Molly Dalton Money; one step-granddaughter, Christine Jameson; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Kennett Square, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Health Care Center, Resident Special Need Fund, Attention, Patricia Williams, P.O. Box 748, Chilhowie, Va. 24319. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.

Phillippi
Charles G. Phillippi, 73, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.
He established the Settlers Museum of Southwest Virginia, which chronicles the settling of Southwest Virginia by the Scotch-Irish and German immigrants.
He was a graduate of Emory and Henry College and did graduate work at Virginia Tech and the University of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed F. and Luella Pickle, two brothers, Ed Phillippi Jr. and Richard Phillippi, and a nephew, Mike Phillippi.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Charlotte, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Cassie T. Phillippi of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Debbie Phillippi of Charlotte, N.C., and Dawn Wolfe of Jamestown, N.C.; four sons, Dan Phillippi of Matthews, N.C., David Phillippi of Wilmington, N.C., Douglas Phillippi of Carrboro, N.C., and Dennis Phillippi of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Dorthea Hall of Marion and her husband, Maurice; one brother, Elmer Phillippi of Sugar Grove; a sister-in-law, Jean Phillippi of Studio City, Calif.; and ten grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Wharf Hill First United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove with the Rev. Kenneth Conner officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Thomas
John Edward Thomas, 66, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Washington County to the late William Hugh and Bessie C. Thomas.
Survivors include one brother, Bob Thomas of Seven Mile Ford; one sister-in-law, Nancy Thomas of Seven Mile Ford; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Chilhowie with the Rev. Bob McCormick and the Rev. Jimmy Lundy officiating. Interment will follow at the Middlefork Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.
The family received friends Friday evening, March 18, 2005, at the funeral chapel in Chilhowie.

Blevins
Dulcie Mae Blevins, 90, of Green Cove, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the Green Cove Baptist Church and an active member of the Damascus and Green Cove Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Marion Noah Blevins, one sister and one brother preceded her in death.
She lived a faithful life serving her Lord, her family, and her community. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert and Percilla Blevins of Green Cove and Willis and Carmen Blevins of Abingdon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Ronnie Walls and Ann and Irvin Stringer, all of Abingdon; two sisters, Ruth Graham of Lansing, N.C. and Ruby Hamm of Rural Retreat; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Mary Ellen Walls and Blanche Clark, both of Green Cove.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, March 14, 2005, in the Green Cove Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles E. "Jody" Blevins and
Pastor Wesley Stringer officiated the ceremony. The committal services and interment followed in Green Cove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 325 Cummings St., Abingdon, Va. 24210.

Blevins
Minnie Dolinger Blevins, 85, died Friday, March 11, 2005, in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
She was the widow of Harley Elmer Blevins and was also preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Callie Powers Dolinger and four brothers, Basil, Howard, Robert and Wade Dolinger.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Millie Blevins of Chilhowie; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy B. and Bob Hicks of Seven Mile Ford; three brothers, William Dolinger of South Carolina, Ike Dolinger of Chilhowie and Jerry Dolinger of Damascus; three sisters, Hazel DeBord of Bluefield, W.Va., Marcella McGrady and Ann Collins, both of Marion; three granddaughters, Jennifer B. Robinson, Melanie Hicks and Julie Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2005, in Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Chilhowie. The Rev. David T. St.Clair officiated the ceremony. Graveside services were conducted Monday morning, March 14, 2005, at the Grosses Creek Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Ave., Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015.
The family received friends Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2005, at Williams Funeral Home, just prior to the funeral service.

Gentry
Stephen Allen Gentry, 43, formerly of Glade Spring, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at his home in the Wythe House where he lived since 1994.
He was born and raised in Glade Spring before moving to Wytheville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth (Babe) and Eva Hayden Gentry.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Pat Gentry of Chilhowie; one niece, Mandy (Eric) Puckett of Chilhowie; one nephew, Todd (Angela) Gentry of Chilhowie; four great-nephews, Eric, Tyler and Ethan Puckett and Nathan Gentry; two great-nieces, Chelsey Burgess and Tabatha Gentry; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, March 14, 2005, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Mutter officiated the ceremony. Burial followed in the Mount Rose Cemetery.
Family received friends Sunday evening, March 13, 2005, at the funeral home.

Grogg
William E. "Bill" Grogg, 75, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at his home.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Joy Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Grogg and son, Rex Grogg. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sophia G. and Nelson Thomas and JoAnna "Jodi" Grogg, all of Saltville; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Sis Grogg of Saltville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita and John Johnson of Florida and Patricia and Dean Stilted of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Atkins officiating.
Interment will follow at Elizabeth Cemetery with military rites by Saltville V.F.W. Post #7328.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 16, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Scott
Clyde Evelyn Anderson Scott, 91, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Libby's Private Home Care in Richmond.
Born February 25, 1914 in Dwina, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clinton and Darhula Holbrook Anderson.
She was a graduate of St. Paul High School and attended Williamson Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Williamson, W. Va., where she received her training to be licensed as a registered nurse, a degree of which she was justly proud and which she served with both honor and distinction. Her nursing career began in Charleston, W. Va. She returned to Wise County where she was employed by Norton General Hospital, and Norton Community Hospital. Her nursing career was interrupted when she accepted a teaching job in nursing at the Wise County Vocational/Technical School in Wise, and later, became administrator of a nursing home in Dryden (Lee County), before returning to Norton Community Hospital where she remained until her retirement.
She was very active in several bridge clubs, the Women's Society of Christian Service, a charter member of the Green Thumb Garden Club, and a member of the Norton United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Scott; two brothers, John Wilson Anderson and Harry Price Anderson; and a sister, Virginia Elizabeth Anderson.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Robert, Jr. and Ruth Ann Combs Scott of Richmond; a sister, Mary Fayne Anderson Banner of Norton; two grandchildren, Matthew and Julia Scott, both of Richmond; a niece, Mary Anderson Banner Tourjee, and husband, Michael; and two great-nephews and a great-niece, Jonathan, Noah, and Sarah Tourjee, all of Westhampton, Mass.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, March 14, 2005, at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The Rev. Donna Hester officiated the ceremony. A eulogy was given by her niece, Mary Ann Banner Tourjee. Burial followed in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Marion.

Talbert
Jean Ella Surber Talbert, 61, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn. after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was a warm, loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.
Survivors include her husband, C.W. Talbert of Saltville; one son, Chuck Talbert of Saltville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracie and Mike Coe and Amy and Harry "Roho" Frye, all of Saltville; one brother, Steve Surber of Saltville; two sisters, Sandra Peery of Rocks Grove and Darlene Paul of Saltville; special Aunt, Olivene "Honey Mom" Sanders of Covington; grandchildren, Kyli Lee, Lacey and Logan Frye, Tabbie, Brooke, and Justin Nunley; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday evening, March 12, 2005, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. John Roe officiated the ceremony. Graveside services were conducted Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2005, in Mount Rose Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday evening, March 12, 2005, just prior to the funeral service.

Wampler
Everette Mae Ward Wampler, 93, of Rural Retreat died Monday, March 14, 2005, at her home.
She was born May 21, 1911, in the Zion community of Wythe County, a daughter of the late Everett Rush Ward, a Confederate hero, and the late Laura Lena Hale Ward. She was one of the last daughters in the state of Virginia whose father wore gray uniforms in the Civil War. Her father was a member of Company D. 45th Infantry, CSA. On April 28, 2000, she was honored at a banquet of the Walker-Terry Camp, Sons of the Confederate Veterans.
She was a former member of King's Grove United Methodist Church and she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Crockett.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Fred I. Wampler; a son, Dan Ward Wampler; two brothers, James Preston Ward and Early Raymond Ward; two infant brothers, Billy Ward and Edward Ward; and two half brothers, William Guy Testerman and Floyd Carl Testerman. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Harry Gray of Bluefield, W.Va., and Carol and James Matt of Roanoke; two grandsons, Dennis Wampler of Roanoke, and Phillip Wampler of Salem; two great-grandchildren, Travis Wampler and Casey Wampler, both of Salem; a sister, Laverne Ward Clough of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Sam Hale Ward of Rural Retreat; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Retreat, with the Rev. Vince Krauss officiating. Interment will be in the King's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the King's Grove Cemetery Endowment Fund, c/o F. Clyde Copenhaver, 2202 Crockett Rd., Crockett, Va. 24323.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 18, 2005, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (service time) at the Lindsey Funeral Home.
