Adams
Robert C. 'Bob' Adams, age 59, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 at his home in Atkins.
Mr. Adams was a member of the Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a security guard at Woodgrain Millwork. He was preceded in death by his father, William Page Adams Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn 'Tootsie' Burchett Adams, Atkins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kayretha and David Vanhoozer of Chilhowie, and Erin and Bobby Blevins of Rich Valley; one son, Robert 'Bobby' Adams Jr. and fiancče Missie Gragg of Atkins; his mother, Bonnie Osborne Adams of Chilhowie; three sisters, Peggy Steele of North Carolina, Thelma Owens and Shirley Barbrow, both of Chilhowie; two brothers, Junior Adams of Chilhowie and Johnny Adams of Johnson City, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Jason and Bryan Vanhoozer, both of Chilhowie, Lakin, Hayley and Hunter Adams, all of Marion.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial followed in Resurrection Gardens in Atkins.
Seaver-Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Musser
Flora Mae Musser, age 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at her home in Owings Mills, Md.
Mrs. Musser was the daughter of the late Monroe and Josephine Musser of Atkins.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Ruth Musser, Baltimore, Md.; one sister and brother-in-law, Idabel and George Petrakos, Charlottesville.
Burial was held in Evergreen Memorial Garden in Westminister, Md.

Robinson
Stella Hall Robinson, age 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
Mrs. Robinson was born in Smyth County, the daughter of the late Vernon and Dinah Hall. She worked at Harwood for several years and was a member of the East End Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Robinson.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Phyllis Robinson, Marion; two granddaughters, Kim and husband Willie Cox, and Lisa and husband Dale Atwell, all of Marion; one great-grandson, Hunter Atwell, Marion; three brothers, Chester Hall and wife Elizabeth, Georgia, Preston Hall and wife Alta, and James Hall and wife Evelyn, all of Marion; four sisters, Mary Martha Taylor, Louise Wyatt and husband Raleigh, Barbara Taylor and husband Charles, all of Marion, and Elsie Rose and husband Henry, Florida; sisters-in-law, Fannie Hall, Staunton, Mary A. Robinson, Walker's Creek, and Helen Robinson, Cleghorn Valley; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 11, at 8 p.m. in Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Graveside services will be held today, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the East End Baptist Church, Groseclose St., Marion, VA 24354.

Tucker
Lakie Elizabeth Tucker, age 87, of Chilhowie, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil W. Tucker, and a daughter, Peggy McDaniel. She attended Macedonia Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlene McKinnon, Marion; four grandchildren, Brock McDaniel, Lancaster, Penn., Robin Berry, Chilhowie, Diane Sheets and Melody Collins, both of Marion; four great-grandchildren, Crystal Blevins, Alicia Williams, Xavier McDaniel and Kendra Collins; one great-great-grandchild, Wynter Hall; three sisters, Mattie Troxell, Janet Cheek, and Blanche Love, all of Chilhowie.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Eller officiating. Burial followed in the Macedonia Cemetery.
Newberry Funeral Home in Chilhowie was in charge of arrangements.

Ashby
Timothy Wayne Ashby, age 23, of Chilhowie, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 of injuries received in an automobile accident.
He is survived by his parents, Frank and Brenda Ashby of Chilhowie; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Shonna Ashby, and Jeremy and Tina Ashby, all of Chilhowie; one niece and nephew, Adrienne and Tyler Ashby of Chilhowie; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ashby, and Helen Tuggle and the late Lem Tuggle, all of Chilhowie; several uncles, aunts and cousins, a special friend, Jodie Counts.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Haga and the Rev. Larry Parks officiating. Burial followed in South Fork Cemetery.
Barnett's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Clay
Virginia Lowe Clay, age 80, formerly of Marion and Baltimore, Md., died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Racine, Wisc.
Mrs. Clay was born in Saltville on July 25, 1920, the daughter of the late Samuel Clinton Sr., and Gertrude Lowe. She had been a resident of Racine for 10 years. She was employed as the head medical librarian with the University Hospital in Baltimore and was a resident adviser with the Blue Ridge Job Corps in Marion. She attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Racine.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Betty (David) Whitham of Somers, Wisc.; one son, Daniel Clinton Walker of Chilhowie; two brothers, Thomas Lowe of Saltville and Samuel Clinton Lowe Jr. of Marion; one sister, Mildred Parsons of Marion; four grandchildren, David C. Whitham and wife Kristine, Davena Boldus and husband Stephen, and Daniel and David Walker; six great-grandchildren, Anna, Jennifer, Brock, Bryce, Fallon and Will; three nieces; one nephew; sisters-in-law, Alice Lowe of Saltville and Betty Lowe of Marion; brother-in-law, Edward Parsons of Marion.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. in Hanson Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Fuller officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Memorial Park.
Hanson Funeral Home in Racine, Wisc., was in charge of arrangements.

Forrester
Rufus D. Forrester, age 64, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 at his home in Glade Spring.
Mr. Forrester was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Ray Forrester of Glade Spring; five brothers, Roger Wayne Forrester, Hubert Wayne Forrester, John R. Forrester, all of Glade Spring, Hardin Alvin Forrester Jr., Florida, and Carl Richard Forrester of Hillsville; five sisters, Lucille Defriece and Margaret L. Shaffer, both of Rockville, Md., Irene Haydon and Willie Mae Osborne, both of Glade Spring, and Patsy June Marshall of Grottoes.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. in Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Old Glade Baptist Cemetery.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is in charge of arrangements.

Hutton
Lucy Phipps Hutton, age 87, formerly of Atkins, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.
Mrs. Hutton was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Hutton; four sisters, Jean Hendricks, Fern Griffith, Notra Phipps and Mary Robbins; three brothers, David L. Phipps Sr., Howard Phipps and Lee Worth 'Tom' Phipps.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon H. and Mills A. March of Suffolk; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Ann Hutton of Vinton; three sisters, Fannie Snider of Atkins, Marie Huffman of Charlotte, N.C., and Dorothy Wilson of Glade Valley, N.C.; one brother, R.W. Phipps of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Phipps, Edith Phipps, Judy Phipps and Helen Hutton; one brother-in-law, Jeff Phipps; five grandchildren, Frank A. March, Hunter March, David H. March, Michael Hutton and Elizabeth Hutton-Barbour; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, William and Matthew March.
Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Childress and the Rev. William T. Wing III officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nick's Creek Presbyterian Chapel, c/o Emma Sexton, 170 Kelly Hill Road, Atkins, VA 24311. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Thomas
Jimmy Warren Thomas, age 58, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at his home in Chilhowie.
Mr. Thomas was a native of Smyth County and was retired from Brunswick and Marion Composites with over 40 years of service. He was a graduate of the Marion Business College. He was a member of the Smyth County Moose Lodge, The National Rifle Association, and the Holston Hills Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Warren and Nannie Belle Thomas.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Donna Thomas, Hillsville; one daughter, Kelly Thomas, Charlotte, N.C.; one grandson, Bryce Thomas; two sisters, Lula Grey Wharton, Chilhowie, and Betty Jo Carrier, Bristol, Tenn.; two nieces; two nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. in Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Frazier and the Rev. Bobby Dunn officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Bradley's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thompson
Beulah Josephine Eller Thompson, age 68, of Glade Spring, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was the widow of James Douglas Thompson.
Surviving are one son, Tim W. Thompson of Glade Spring; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances T. and Jimmy Helton, Chilhowie; two sisters, Peggy Reeves, Marion, and Margaret Gilbert, Chilhowie; one granddaughter, Janet Helton.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 4, at 8 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul J. Doane and the Rev. Pat Gilbert officiating. Graveside services will be conducted today, Aug. 5, at 1 p.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring.

Wymer
Lisa Emerson Wymer, age 34, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 at her home in Atkins.
Mrs. Wymer was a member of the Atkins First Church of God and was employed by Dana Corporation.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny A. Wymer of Atkins; two daughters, Faith Wymer and Hope Wymer, both of Atkins; her parents, Larrie and Patsy Emerson of Marion; her grandmother, Georgia Kegley of Marion; her father-in-law, Johnny H. Wymer and wife Susie of Abingdon; her mother-in-law, Wanda Sims of Marion; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Ron Whitener and the Rev. Ron Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Boardwine
Gerald Allen Boardwine, age 41, of Corn Valley, died Sunday, July 30, 2000 in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
A lifelong resident of Russell County, he was a son of Paul and Minnie Helton Boardwine. He was a former employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation in Lebanon. He attended the Hyters Gap Community Church and the River Bridge Community Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Nancy Kay Boardwine; two daughters, Melinda Asbury and Dedra Boardwine, both of Corn Valley; one sister, Lois F. Combs, Lebanon; two brothers, Ronald Boardwine, Atkins, and David Boadwine, Abingdon; two sons-in-law, Joe Asbury and Eddie Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel in Lebanon with the Rev. Silas Damron and the Rev. Perry Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Reynolds Family Cemetery on Kent's Ridge.

Rouse
Paul Q. Rouse, age 81, of Glade Spring, died Saturday, July 29, 2000 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mr. Rouse was born in Smyth County and had lived in Washington County most of his life. He was a retired welder and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Parker Rouse; one daughter, Helen Leona Lewis of Glade Spring; seven sons, Junior Paul Rouse, James P. Rouse and Roger Lee Rouse, all of Glade Spring, Michael Ray Rouse of Damascus, Glen Matthew Rouse of Jonesborough, Tenn., Larry Wayne Rouse of Meadowview and Richard L. Rouse of Abingdon; four sisters, Ruth Trent, Dorothy Blevins and Esther White, all of Damascus, and Ruby Nipper of Glade Spring; three brothers, William Rouse, Jack Rouse and Samuel H. Rouse, all of Glade Spring, 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 31, at 2 p.m. in Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Boyer, the Rev. Mahlon Wyatt and the Rev. Warren Wilson officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus was in charge of arrangements.
